Our temp was 18 degrees when we got up this morning! We even got a few snow flurries. It's supposed to be freaky cold today and tomorrow, then the temps start climbing back up again. We have to double check the driving route now, since we go over the mountains if we head due north from here. If they got snow or ice, we might have to head west before we head north. :headache:

We go to pick up the boys tuxes this afternoon. I am toying with the idea of running them across the parking lot to the Target portrait studio and getting a picture taken of them. I don't know what kind of a photographer they'll have at the wedding or if I'll be given the option to get pictures... or how much they'd cost if I did. At Target, I can get pictures for $4 per sheet with no other fees.

Anyway, I know I'm not addressing everyone personally and I feel terrible. I've read everything. Things will be crazy around here today as we prepare to leave early tomorrow. I'll try to check back when I can.

Oh, and FIL called last night to say, "Why don't we try to travel together?" :scared1:

Ummmm... because you refuse to take the Interstate? Because you refuse to drive anywhere near the speed limit? (usually 5 to 10 miles UNDER it) Because you only watch what's in front of you half the time? (the rest is spent looking out the SIDE window) Need I go on?

They are planning to leave much earlier than we are anyway, so we told them to go ahead. We can't leave until after we get Maggie in the vet. :rolleyes1

Jeez, thats' some cold weather your having. Sounds like you need chains for the tires if your going over the mountains!

I'd be running over to Target. The pro is going to charge you way more than $4 a sheet...

Black eyed peas are great. I buy a bag of dried peas, soak them overnight, and then cook them slow with a packet of Goya imitation ham seasoning (it's like ham boullion) in the water. Yum. Less fatty than the usual pork hunks that get tossed in when most people cook peas around here. ;)

Collards I've never developed a taste for. They *look* like spinach when you cook them, but they have a distinct almost sour taste to me. I prefer turnips myself if I have to have a leafy green... or good old steamed cabbage, now that I really like.

Do the peas go by another name? I've never seen them in the grocery store. I'll have to look for the ham seasoning.
Do you mean you eat the turnip leaves?? :confused3

hey lori.........see you snuck in behind me.
you got the snow yet?

What snow we have gotten in the past couple of weeks was gone by the end of the day. Ground is way to warm here for it to stay.

Lori - Big Game tonight. Your Sooners want to win to break your bowl losing streak. You have something to prove. Our Mounties want to win to show Rich Rod we don't need him. We have something to prove. Should be a good game.:happytv:

Time to get moving. I had anticipated going to office and getting things organized over the holiday weekend. Didn't happen. I will be lucky to come up for air by lunchtime.

-Jennifer-

Yes, they both have soemthing to prove. I hope it is a better game then the Georgia/Hawaii game was.

Have you come up for air yet?

It was DW's grandmother and no she still won't go and is doing a little better and her son DW's uncle came by and seen her and all he told them was she looks ok to him and she didn't need to go but I guess he thinks he knows what his 80 something mother needs.
Go figure this comes from a guy who only comes over when money is involed and worries about how much money he will get when she passes away.

That is so sad. I hope she gets better soon.

i very nearly puked coffee outa my nose at the sex bananas .

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Have you ever snorted coke? I've snorted pepsi before and let me tell you that was very painful! :lmao:

I agree, take the boys to target for pics. Will be much cheaper and probaly better.

Glad you have Maggie as an excuse. I hate traveling with other people. They just can't ever keep up.

And, OUCH! That is cold for you guys. At least you may get some more moisture out of it though.

jennifer - :cheer2: to WVW-what night r they playing? WV coach is a butthead, jumping ship during season is soooo uncool. Betcha there were lots of couch bonfires over that one.:rotfl: DSs friend is having problems getting accepted into PA State police acad; something to do with suit filed by WVU private landlord as to deporable conditions/damages...he swears-no couches were harmed. One of the reasons we got out of the rental bus. Shame on him, was raised better than that.

lori - i could've sworn we celebrated your birthday a few months back:3dglasses ; hope DS had a great day. So you daughter & son were born 2 weeks apart? My oldest two are 16 days from each other...must've been the moon or something - ha.

[/SIZE]
Hey wait a minute. Her team is playing mine!

Yep, my birthday was in May. Is not fun having two kids with birthdays so close to Christmas.

See, I guess I did the ornament wrong. I had the idea of getting something for the person (in this case, you Lori!) that would remind them of me or the thread. See, if you'd gotten me a Green Bay one, it would be one of about 5 on our tree. The one you got was far more unique and cool for us! I figured, however, that it was a safe bet that you didn't have a Packers one on your tree, so thought it would be a reminder of us and the discussions on this thread!

Unfortunately, Michigan has some stupid law that says you can't sue a corporation or be involved in a class action suit against one. :confused3 My brother's a lawyer, and he looked into it for my mom. Considered listing her as living with one of us out of state, but I think by now she just wants to forget about it!

No you did the ornament right too. I love it and my whole family loves the Pack or at least Brett! I bet you still think of me & the thread when you see the ornament too.

Can't believe Michigan says she can't enter a class action suit. That is rediculous. I would be putting her down as living at my address too. Those companies need to be held liable for releasing medications that do harm.

I am so glad we don't live any where near a place to do that!

Hey all....

Lots of pages, but I am finally up to date.

Hope everyone is enjoying the second full day of 2008!! Kids all went back to school ON TIME (heck - I had them there early) today. New Year, new rules around here!!:thumbsup2 I have resolved to be a better mother, wife and friend. Kinda started slacking late last year. :sad1:

My house projects WILL get done and normal everyday stuff will be done, well, everday :rotfl: Need to learn how to cook though - that is usually Jim's department.

Loved the pics. Looks like Kate got screwed, but I know she didn't. It is so hard when their gifts cost so much more than the younger ones do.

Hey homies I hope everyone is doing well today and as for me I am okay if I could get use to a wind chill of 5 below and was worse this morning when I took DW to work :scared1: with wind chill 10 below plus slick roads due to ice and snow:scared1: not fun concidering its a 22 mile round trip to take her but made there and back safe:cool1:

Glad you made it home safe and sound! Be careful when you go back out to get her.

Well, I am going to run out for a while. I am going stir crazy sitting around this house. Maybe if I go out I willl get motivated enough to go ahead and clean Ally's rooms.

I just posted a very long post doing my catch up but it is not showing up for me. I tried to repost it and it says that it is a duplicate.

HAVE A TOLD ANYONE I HATE THESE NEW BOARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, it still isn't there so I am going to copy it in to here! If it is showing up for the rest of you let me know and I will edit this post.

UGH! I see it finally decided to post.

tracie - bee-u-tiful tree (even neekie;) )although i spy a mario ornament still in the branches:) . nothing like co-ordinated disney paper.:thumbsup2 In order to be fair (lol) courtesy of the $ store; i used both disney, spiderman & shrek wrapping paper; lovely mish mash...don't think anyone noticed it anyway but me.

sharon - our 1st day of evil weather, so windy i could barely get the storm door open to get the mail.

lori - Day 6 of hiding out @ the homestead, think i'll stand put...brrr.

 busting out with joy:dance3:

took the plunge & booked part of our trip this June/July...

so far i've got Disneyland reserved (mecca:worship: The Disneyland Hotel:yay: ) booked for 7 nights, believe we'll be chopping off a day though and...

starting trip in Vegas 1st for 2 or 3 days:woohoo: , just to see the hoover dam - not

even was able to cash in my last AirTran Voucher & only pay for 2 slots home out of LAX @ a reasonable $130 each (way under the going rate-so spoiled by cheap airfare to MCO).

hope the good luck keeps on rolling this year, although I may have to get a real job to support this habit:rolleyes1

todd - shaking off the icicles; saw a thread where someone was boo-hooing the cold weather was coming to FL...58:rolleyes1 , it's projected to stay a balmy 19 here - wind chill near 8. Sorry for ya team, always next year. Had an ephinany - is your screen name for the golf course? saw in when leafing thru a golf digest i was tossing, looks very luxe
Janet...I used to live in Metro West which is just north of Universal. The MW Golf Club was about 10 mins from my apartment. My parents have played there and liked it. It's about the nicest public course here in Orlando.

I hope the team can do better next time but that's doubtful.

There is a hard freeze warning for most of central Florida tonight and tomorrow night but the temps should rebound in the upper 50's and lower 60's...it's not too bad. I was getting sick of all the heat anyway. It was 86 and humid on Saturday...not the Christmas season with temps that high.

Stay warm!

Hey everyone!!!

What a horrible day....I was a complete zombie!

However, great news! I got a dentist appointment TODAY...leaving in about 20 minutes. All I can say is thank god!!!!

Barb: Crazy bananas!

Marci: Your poor mother!! God forbid!

Lori and Janet: Thanks for the thoughts!

I wish I would get some snow...all we get is bitter cold!

your tree is beautiful.
that ornament is really classy looking.

i did notice what a clean house you have for a woman that has children.

i am in awe that you have come this far in life and motherhood without having to cook.

i need lessons from you how to swing that......

i'm so glad you are at the dentist now.
it has to have been miserable for you this last week.

hopefully by the time you are back home, you will be smiling and drugged up. and feeling lots better.

tracie, you're all set for tomorrow']s trip.
do the pics today.

marcie is 2 hours north of me.
she likes the cold and snow.

they all ski and snow board.

i never in my life would believe i would live this far north.
when i grow up, i am going back south

mr mac has been in agony for 10 days with his tooth.
he had a crown done 5 months ago with out the root canal being done, which the doc recommended........

the last 3 nights that man has made it impossible to sleep.
he is up every hour almost.

i told him a week ago to get an appointment before the holiday.
does he listen..........NOOOOOOOOOOOO

on my list tomorrow is to call the specialist for him.

......and??? :confused3

First I have to say Barb those bananas were hilarious...but I am so glad that I had scrolled down just enough for it to not be on the screen when Mikey walked in here!

:flower3: sorry.....

Barb - Where do you find these things.  Your bananas were hilarious.

Like Marcie said, some are at freesmileys and others i get from 'another source' :rolleyes1

DS will be 13 in February so we are "toying" with letting him stay home by himself, if DH goes to work. My office is less than a mile away, and I will be in office all day today. I tend to be out of the office alot, so if I'm not in office, he has to go to my sister's house.

Jennifer...I think he is okay at his age...it really depends on his 'maturity' level imho.... I think the 'legal' age in PA is 12. AND, you're SO close, that if he had any problems, you wouldn't be far. Maybe try 'small' amounts of time alone and 'graduate' up...see how it goes. :confused3 Unfortunately, on the 2 days I'm at the salon, Bubba lets himself in the house after skool....BUT DH is home like 20 minutes after he gets here...so, we're okay with it. Besides, he calls me , does his homework and we have a couple of neighbors that are home in case he would have a problem. I don't really like doing it, but we are kinda 'stuck' and sometimes ya haveta do what ya haveta do..... Like I said, depends on how you feel about it and the maturity level of your son :thumbsup2

It was DW's grandmother and no she still won't go and is doing a little better and her son DW's uncle came by and seen her and all he told them was she looks ok to him and she didn't need to go but I guess he thinks he knows what his 80 something mother needs.

I agree....give ole Mags an extra bone :goodvibes You are definately better off driving w/o FIL :scared: Hope the weather holds for you.....we got the windchill temps of 10 :rotfl2: Yep..... here too :sad2: IF you have time, definately run over to Target for the pictures. They will be cheaper than the professional photographer for sure... I think the pros charge $20/sheet?? I likes the sound of $4 better ::yes::

.....just can't get new years even @ U outta my brain.....one track mind ya know.

although the banana porn made my day:worship: :dance3: always wondered where they came from...

i know...i get on that same 'track' quite often.... haven't approached DH w/ the idea.....yet..... :rolleyes1 (in my defense he played hockey last nite and wasn't home...then he came home FROM hockey with a TICKET for tonight's game w/ the guys who have season tickets :headache: :confused3 .......eventually..... )

i tried to make the ornament 'match' the person who got it. But I thought maybe you got Lori a Packers ornament because she didn't have a 'pro football team' in her area....like Tracie, Jodie & I have the Eagles, mac the Bears, Tricia the Falcons, etc..... Thought you were spreading the cheese...er, I mean, love..... :confused3

Okay - on to catching up!

Only about an hour until kickoff tonight for the Fiesta Bowl starring my WVU Mountaineers and Lori's Oklahoma Sooners.:cool1:

Janet - Did your son go to WVU. It seems a shame that a problem in college would cause him to not be a policeman.

Update on "THE KID" - I have let him stay home by himself in the past - if I am at the office and not at a client's office 1 hour drive away. However, DH doesn't like this as he is a worry wart. And a major one at that.:confused3 He decided to call in "sick" today at his government job (your tax dollars at work) so they both stayed home.

We are already on a 2-hour delay for school tomorrow.

The office was kind of relaxing as I took my time and organized and cleaned my office. Now everything is off my desk and in about 10 different piles on the floor. Those piles will need attention soon.

Yippee....pix of your tree!!! The angel is beautiful and it's a beautiful tree....and all the gifts :thumbsup2 I can see how the 'size' changes with age with your Beans.... Franks gifts are HUGE, Courts a bit smaller, but not by much...and poor Kait....littlest of them all....but, probably the most ka-ching-wise :scared: I guess all the Beans were happy with what Santa brought??? Got what they I wanted....I think?

We need a spring countdown ticker.

03-20-2008_SPRING_147-112-216_255-182-193.png

We lost our power last night for few hours. I was sitting in my bedroom knitting a sweater and watching Housewives of O. C. and I hear this big loud kaboom. I jumped up and looked out the window and there was another kaboom. The sky lit up down the road a bit and there was this big fireball. It did it one more time and then the power went out. A big transformer blew up. I was shocked how fast they got it repaired/replaced. We only have one heat source, so no power, no heat. I was worried we were going to have to find somewhere to sleep for the night.

:scared1: I HATE those...makes me jump and scares the crap outta me!!! Everything like that 'echoes' here, so it's 'extra loud' :sad2: Strangely enough, one night last spring/summer, we heard that sound thought power was out. Went outside to look around neighborhood, but nobody was 'dark' :confused3 Heard it later that night again. Thought it was weird, so we went outside to look around again. Turns out, on the street below ours there was a man barricaded in his house and they were using some kind of bomb to coax him out...hence the noise.... kinda cool cuz nothin' like that happens around here....it's very quiet. What I never found out or understood was that the dude never had a gun and I'm not sure why he even baricaded himself in his home in the first place? :confused3

Barb - I've been mulling it over, but I just can't get a visual. How does a game of Pictionary turn ugly? I mean, I'm terrible at drawing. Seriously. Carol is usually my partner. She's worse than I am. It's funny. I mean, we enjoy how bad we are. If either one of us looks down at the paper an realizes the other is trying to draw an animal, we'll always say, "Oh, crap. It's an animal. Horse, cow, pig, donkey, chicken..." because the way we draw, it could be anything so just start guessing. :rotfl:

Wow - I draw exactly the same way! I find it amazing when I play with my middle son, who can actually draw things and make them look like what he wanted them to! And my animals also consist of an oval (body), circle (head) and 4 lines (legs) and an extra line (tail) if necessary!

Yep, my sister jumps into the frigid Atlantic Ocean every year for charity. Personally, I think she's nuts! Over 300 people participated in this one. Water temp was a brisk 38 degrees.

It seems like everyone does this around here! There were ads/articles about maybe 4 or 5 different ones in the paper the other day. No way you'd catch me doing that! I didn't know it was for charity - or maybe they're all not!

Thanks for posting the photos of your son at church. He looks very comfortable sitting there. Does he get nervous? Is it a large church? Looks like it in the pictures. You and Royce must be very proud of him!

Yeah, DH asked this question. The church holds 1000 comfortably in the pews. They had 400 extra seats brought in the back, and they had 200 standing at that mass for a total of 1600. So it was a pretty big crowd! And no, he doesn't get nervous at all, as long as he's playing. Now if they made him make an announcement or sing or something, he'd die. But ask him to play an instrument (any instrument) and he'd be up there in a heartbeat!

Here is the haul BEFORE they ripped into it....notice the color coordinated paper? Frank was the Mickey, Court had Tink and see that itty bitty pile in the middle? That is Kait's snowman paper!!!!

Christmas2007058.jpg

This year ours kind of actually looked pretty equal, although if you look closely at DS15's pile, there's the huge box for Rock Band, the medium box for the XBox360, and then you can tell the rest are all video games in their little boxes! Usually he seems to get a much smaller pile! Hopefully she was happy with what was inside them either way!

took the plunge & booked part of our trip this June/July...

so far i've got Disneyland reserved (mecca:worship: The Disneyland Hotel:yay: ) booked for 7 nights, believe we'll be chopping off a day though and...

starting trip in Vegas 1st for 2 or 3 days:woohoo: , just to see the hoover dam - not

even was able to cash in my last AirTran Voucher & only pay for 2 slots home out of LAX @ a reasonable $130 each (way under the going rate-so spoiled by cheap airfare to MCO).

Didn't you just get back from a vacation? I'm really jealous! Speaking of which, I don't remember seeing a trip report yet! Don't think you can plan another trip until you fill us in on the last one! Is your son going with you to DL? Vegas?

Hey everyone!!!

What a horrible day....I was a complete zombie!

Marci: Your poor mother!! God forbid!

Hope everything worked out well with your appointment and you're recovering and in a much better mood now! One good thing about my mom's troubles was that she lost over 60 pounds as a result of the pain and not being able to eat! She went from about 180 to 120 (she's 5'3 so definitely wanted/needed to lose some of the weight!). For months everyone would ask her how she managed to lose the weight and she'd be like "trust me, you don't want to do it this way!" But she's kept the weight off, so I guess it was good in some ways! :confused3

marcie is 2 hours north of me.
she likes the cold and snow.

they all ski and snow board.

i never in my life would believe i would live this far north.
when i grow up, i am going back south

Mac - have I ever told you my life's mottos? One of them is from a Bahama's poster I saw in college that said "Life begins at 80 degrees", so no, I don't like the cold. My idea of the perfect place is say LA, where you can live in nice 80 degree temperatures, and yet drive 5 hours and be in the mountains and ski. I hate the weather here. And the skiing sucks too!

We ALMOST moved to California before we moved to Green Bay. I really, really wanted to, but it wouldn't have been the best thing for the kids as far as schools, or for us as far as money and being able to afford anything. But, boy did I want to! And I kept thinking to myself "It's okay if we don't move there now, I'll move there when I grow up"! And then I'd have to say, "No, wait, I AM grown up!" Probably never get there now!

i tried to make the ornament 'match' the person who got it. :confused3

See, that's why I thought maybe I did it wrong. I was thinking more of trying to get them something to remember ME by, rather than something that "fit" them as well. Guess they both worked though since we all seemed to like our ornaments!
