Our temp was 18 degrees when we got up this morning! We even got a few snow flurries. It's supposed to be freaky cold today and tomorrow, then the temps start climbing back up again. We have to double check the driving route now, since we go over the mountains if we head due north from here. If they got snow or ice, we might have to head west before we head north.
We go to pick up the boys tuxes this afternoon. I am toying with the idea of running them across the parking lot to the Target portrait studio and getting a picture taken of them. I don't know what kind of a photographer they'll have at the wedding or if I'll be given the option to get pictures... or how much they'd cost if I did. At Target, I can get pictures for $4 per sheet with no other fees.
Anyway, I know I'm not addressing everyone personally and I feel terrible. I've read everything. Things will be crazy around here today as we prepare to leave early tomorrow. I'll try to check back when I can.
Oh, and FIL called last night to say, "Why don't we try to travel together?"![]()
Ummmm... because you refuse to take the Interstate? Because you refuse to drive anywhere near the speed limit? (usually 5 to 10 miles UNDER it) Because you only watch what's in front of you half the time? (the rest is spent looking out the SIDE window) Need I go on?
They are planning to leave much earlier than we are anyway, so we told them to go ahead. We can't leave until after we get Maggie in the vet.![]()
Jeez, thats' some cold weather your having. Sounds like you need chains for the tires if your going over the mountains!
I'd be running over to Target. The pro is going to charge you way more than $4 a sheet...
Black eyed peas are great. I buy a bag of dried peas, soak them overnight, and then cook them slow with a packet of Goya imitation ham seasoning (it's like ham boullion) in the water. Yum. Less fatty than the usual pork hunks that get tossed in when most people cook peas around here.![]()
Collards I've never developed a taste for. They *look* like spinach when you cook them, but they have a distinct almost sour taste to me. I prefer turnips myself if I have to have a leafy green... or good old steamed cabbage, now that I really like.
Do the peas go by another name? I've never seen them in the grocery store. I'll have to look for the ham seasoning.
Do you mean you eat the turnip leaves??
