Baking cuz my company is too fricking cheap to do anything at all for the holidays .. no half day, no party. Nothing.

My company sux. They promised Mike a promotion in ;ate Oct/early Nov.

She loves my house because she thinks I have a "dancing room." That is just my tiny den where I put on the digital radio channels on our TV and we dance like idiots. Some day she won't think that's so cool anymore so I enjoy it while I can.

NOT a bad PUI .....

You are nice to bake cuppiecakes for work.... it will bring a 'little' holiday cheer anyhows... ;) I hope Mike gets his promo....I hate it when they 'obviously' screw around :headache:

Hey....when is the "homie party" in the dance room :confused3

Meh... It wasn't *that* bad. Fortunately, we didn't need anything in the TOY department or the ELECTRONICS department. People looked crazed in those areas. Seriously. Like gimme-that-b*tch-slap crazy.

..... All in all, a pretty entertaining afternoon. I recommend it if you are a bystander... not so much as a participant...

I haven't been to Atlantic City in a few years. I've given a few dollars to Trump, but I also won my largest jackpot there. Don't get excited. It was somewhere in the $400 range. I don't gamble much and only the quarter slots.

I LOVE to people watch in those situations.... the "panic" mode and the looks that kill :lmao: ah yes...goodwill toward men.... :rolleyes1 (That is one reason I don't go out the last couple of days before Christmas....all the 'crazys' are jacked up a bit MORE crazy :scared: (Oddly enough, last nite about 11:45PM, DH tracked a Walmart 'site to store' item he bought for me. The tracking said it was at the store, but he never received email notification... I said, "Well, you're wide awake, why don't you just go over there and get it?" [You have to remember, it's only 3 blocks across the highway...we can walk there!] He said, "But I've had a few beers." Uh...dear, you're only driving across the street." :confused3 So, at 11:50pm last nite, he decided to go over and get it. He said the store was relatively empty.... That was the plan, since we knew it'd be crowded Sunday and Monday :thumbsup2 )

And as far as AC goes....we don't! I 'donate' to the lottery everyday...don't need to waste gas and 'donate' to the casinos either.... :rotfl2: (rather spend mai bux at UO :teeth: )

Good night homies and hope you all had a great day

Nite L!

Mine look like those sour gummy bears things. You know, kinda squiggly like. I guess I need to practice making snakes... Ah, I mean gummy worms!
I think I bought the wrong cheese, I got Cracker Barrel white, thinks it was supposed to be orange. I sprinkled them with paprika to give them some color. They taste wonderful. I'm eating a few now with the last if the wine. wow, this typing business is hard....I bought a bottle of disgusting Chard at Sam's casue I like the blue bottle. After a few glasses it started tasting better. I have two other blue bottles that I rescued from a bottle drive and I have them in the windwo over the sink. But i wanted a third.

........My mothers' biscuits...:lmao: :lmao:

ornabuddy.jpg

These are my ornaments from Jennifer.
The nutcracker is to remind me of how "nutty" my friends on the DIS are.
The "Joy" ornament is to remind me of the happnes and joy we get from one another.
The choir boy is to remind me of the season.
Time to drag my sorry a$$ to bed, after I take some asprin.
Night all!

Glad your cheese stix came out tasty.... guess with wine don't matter :confused3 Someday I might try 'em

Your poor Mom's biscuits taste like "hockey pucks" That's a shame :sad2: Tell her to bake them on a stone....makes ALL the difference....

WAIT!!! We're nutz? :confused3 :rotfl2: Those ornaments are great! Jennifer did a great job!! They all mean something wonderful..... and yep..I guess we ARE a nutty, happy/joyful group....aren't we??

Gotta get this off my chest before I go to bed.
Ya know what really buts me?
My mom (whom i lvoe to death  ) pronounces Wal-Mart like
"Wal-Mawhts". What the heck happened to the r and where did the s come from?
She aslo says JC Penneys - theree's that darn s again.
Bugs the h&ll out of me...
Q, I feel better now.
Night

and there we have it.... a great PUI!!
2.gif

For what it's worth, I don't know why people 'mispronounce' stuff like that anyway :confused3 (at least it's "Mom" and you can "call her on it" in a 'fun' sorta way :rolleyes1 ) I had a client years ago that used to mispronounce a local department store's name... The store is Boscov's ... (pronounced "bos-cov"). For whatever reason, this lady always said "Boscalfs" (bos-cal-fs) :confused3 ....drove me friggin nuts

Ahhhh been up since 5.30 am!! Every christmas eve my family go food shopping in the morning, so I've just got back from that (its 9.30 here), im back in bed watching Elf...i got less than 4 hours sleep- i'm knackered!!

Who wants to hear my story for the day? WELL! My big brother (21) has been going out with his gf for 2-3 MONTHS! Well, shes left on saturday for a family holiday to FLORIDA. Now, my brother has decided that he can't not see her for 3 weeks so just booked himself flights to florida leaving on Saturday for 2 weeks!! Not fair! I want to go!!!

Sorry, everyone, for my "stream of consciousness" PUI. Perhaps you were able to follow along. Perhaps it's better if you didn't. ;)

Tricia, are you a closet organizer or just a fixer of? I want to call California Closets in to redo ours. Maybe next Christmas!

Sharon, we've been to the 555 in Portland. Every once in a while we'll go to the Portland Mall too. Are you far from there? And, I hate it when people mispronounce things too. My favorite, when we was alive, was my grandfather used to call the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City the "Taj Mahaj" so it rhymed. :)

Todd, thanks for the update. I actually like the AR but always forget it's on!

Barb, some day those lottery tickets will pay off. Here's hoping!

Morning all. Happy Christmas EVE.

And, before I forget: YESTERDAY STARTED FESTIVUS!

AIR YOUR GRIEVANCES HERE WITH NO CONSEQUENCES!

Hey Gema.... are your food stores as crowded there as they are here? It's extremely busy at the food stores Christmas Eve.... (one reason I avoid going!) Lucky your brother....he's still in the "new love" stage.... What is GF doing while in Fla? Did her family go there for vacation for Christmas? Love makes ya do strange things..... :rolleyes1 )

Aw crap!! :headache: I forgot......

Happy Festivus!!!!

And Jodie.... I got you a Festivus present....a little late...sorry :( ..... (since you're Christmas humbuggin' .....)
Festivus1.jpg

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve....pretty soon, my ticker below will be non-existant  !!!

Darn!! (memory isn't workin' too gud...:headache: ) Forgot to mention..... Christmas Story is on TBS for 24 hours straight starting tonight.... :headache: :headache: (for those who absolutely love this movie)

Twas the early evening before Christmas Eve,
And all through the house
Every tummy was grumbling
For Jim's Salisbury steak with brown sauce.

Mommy had a belt
Courtney buckled into her car seat
we need the ingredients
so the Bean Family could eat.

Off to the grocery store two bean women go
What was I thinking shopping in the rain
And parking next to the cart return
because now Mommy's car is in pain.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! Let me just say that my days have not gotten ANY better. I can't remember the last thing I posted, but lets just start with Court having her tooth pulled out on Thursday. Friday zipped by and nothing monumental happened.....nothing got done either:eek:

Saturday - hmmmmm....Got the tree redecorated :thumbsup2 But that was about it.....

Sunday - ahhhhhh....yesterday went to Walmart bright and early (not Jodie's buttcrack of 6am early - but early nonetheless) and finished up the shopping. Came home and wrapped all of the family's presents. :thumbsup2 Watched a little football. Go to the grocery store for a few things - it was POURING RAIN and dark. Get what I need, go to back out of my spot, look over my shoulder and let the pour guy pass (he was getting soaked in the deluge). Take foot of the brake and start backing up and all of a sudden hear the most sickening sound ever......CRACKLE CRUNCH!!!! I was parked next to the cart return and the pole caught my wheel well and pulled the bumper out and well snapped my bumper! I must have misjudged how far I cut the wheel while waiting for the wet man to go by the rear of my car. I was horrified!!! So I cried....and cried and came home and cried some more. Jim was pretty good about it, he knows I am not a reckless driver or an airheaded one so he just hollered for a minute or two instead of hours ;) Did all of Frank's Santa wrapping last night, will do the girls tonight (boy, Kait's pile is going to look PITIFUL - small yet VERY expensive stuff) should only take about an hour.

So enough about me.....have to go back and "ketchup" - did also want to trow out the belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY princess: :flower3: to Ally and a whopping BIG OLD CONGRATS to Bubba:dance3: :cheer2: :cheer2: :yay:

Will be back after some more coffee :surfweb:

It's Festivus? I'll get the pole!

Lori - I forgot to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ally! Boy, I'm forgetful these days.

Sharon - I usually use the Cracker Barrel Sharp Cheddar... the orange variety. They'll taste good either way. They'll just be a little pale with the white cheese.

My husband has two words that he says *ahem* "different". Our football team is the Atlanta Falcons... we say Fal-kins... he says Fall-kuhns. The other word is tiger. He says "tagger". I always figured it must be a Minnesota thing. :confused3

The ornaments from Jennifer were great! She really did put a lot of thought into them. :)

Barb - My mom always used to greet us on Christmas Eve with "Happy Christmas Eve Gift!" She said that her mother always used to do that and claimed that it was an old tradition that the first one to say it got a present. Of course, nobody ever got a present out of the deal... so it was just a goofy thing to do. I found myself shouting it out this morning. I've been brainwashed! :rotfl:

Gemma - What the heck is "knackered". Sounds like the next step after "snogging". :lmao:

Jodie - My closet cleaning was of the "I haven't worn this for 3 years time to let it go" type. I would love to have neat and organized closets, but I would be embarrassed to even let California Closets SEE what mine look like now. :scared:

Tracie - Awwww.... sounds like you need a  I loved the poem. :lmao:

It's just a car. I know it sucks, but it's just a car. Nobody was hurt. You're all together. :grouphug:

I'm off to do a little cleaning. Santa couldn't find our tree the way the house is now...

oh and to add to the mispronouncing

me: licorice = "lick-a-rish"

jim and the kids: licorice = "lick-witch"

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Hey, Yeh usually they are majorly crowded....but not if you go at 6am!! I fell asleep after I wrote that message lol.

Yeh, shes there for a family holiday. Yep in the "new love" stage...but does anyone else agree that flying the whole way to florida (9 hour flight!) is a bit much since they have only been going out for 2-3 months!!

Gemma - What the heck is "knackered". Sounds like the next step after "snogging". :lmao:

LOL!! :lmao: Knackered is 'really tired', I suppose that's another UK-ian word? :rotfl:

Love the poem. Sorry about your bad day! And Im sure Kait will be very grateful for her presents!

I have to help my mum wrap my brothers presents tonight. She would usually have it all done but with Penny and everything...she just didn't get them done.

oh and to add to the mispronouncing

me: licorice = "lick-a-rish"

jim and the kids: licorice = "lick-witch"

Oh, I've got another one...

Me: pumpkin = pump-kin

In Laws: pumpkin = pun-can

:confused3

Yep in the "new love" stage...but does anyone else agree that flying the whole way to florida (9 hour flight!) is a bit much since they have only been going out for 2-3 months!!

Ummmm... yeah. That does seem a bit excessive for that early in the dating phase. :confused3

:rotfl: Good morning guys and gals and a Happy Christmas Eve to all!
We head over to my mom and step dads tonight for dinner and gift exchange with my sister and her family and my step sister and her husband. :goodvibes

I need to whip up some honey musturd turkey meatballs and some kielbasa with grape jelly and ketchup. sounds gross, but the guys like it. I'll be bringing over the cheese straws, venetian cookies and the white chocolate bark. Guess what my sister is bringing. Spinach balls. Thats all, just spinach balls. GRRR

Sharon, we've been to the 555 in Portland. Every once in a while we'll go to the Portland Mall too. Are you far from there?

I'm about 9 minutes from the mall on a good day and 12 on a bad day! I'll PM you my cell number. If you find yourself up this way, give me a call and we could grab lunch or a cup of coffee or just a quick hi!

Twas the early evening before Christmas Eve,
And all through the house
Every tummy was grumbling
For Jim's Salisbury steak with brown sauce.

Mommy had a belt
Courtney buckled into her car seat

Tracie Love the poem. Can you still drive the car?

Sharon - I usually use the Cracker Barrel Sharp Cheddar... the orange variety. They'll taste good either way. They'll just be a little pale with the white cheese.

I sprinkled some paprika on them to give them some color. They taste really good. I put the full amount of cayenne pepper. At first, I was like, hmmm, I can't really taste the pepper, but than you after you swallow the first bite, the heat kicks in. Good heat, not bad! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

My husband has two words that he says *ahem* "different". Our football team is the Atlanta Falcons... we say Fal-kins... he says Fall-kuhns. The other word is tiger. He says "tagger". I always figured it must be a Minnesota thing. :confused3

Ok, the tagger would bug me to no end! :rotfl:
My DH uses the word "broke" in the wrong tense. I would say, "Be careful, that glass is broken". He would say "Be careful, that glass is broke." Bugs me, but I know he's not going to change, so I don't nag him about it, more important things to nag about, right?!? :lmao: :lmao:

Barb - My mom always used to greet us on Christmas Eve with "Happy Christmas Eve Gift!" She said that her mother always used to do that and claimed that it was an old tradition that the first one to say it got a present. Of course, nobody ever got a present out of the deal... so it was just a goofy thing to do. I found myself shouting it out this morning. I've been brainwashed! :rotfl:

I love the goofy things that family's do! When my sister and I were kids, we would go with mom to visit her father in the nursing home. On the way, there was this store with a large indian statue out front (Penny, you might have seen it, its on Rt 1 in Yarmouth). Mom would always say "Say hi to Chief Mug A Mug!". And we would shout out hi Chief. Kinda stupid, but we thought it was funny. I continued it with my kids. Mom still gets a kick out of it if I tell her we drove by and said hi. (Sorry if I offended anyone with the Chief Mug a Mug)

Jodie - My closet cleaning was of the "I haven't worn this for 3 years time to let it go" type. I would love to have neat and organized closets, but I would be embarrassed to even let California Closets SEE what mine look like now. :scared:

I have a walk-in closet. When we build the house DH installed that wire shelving. I pretty much hated it since day one. It leaves lines in my sweaters. So a few years ago for my birthday, DH tore out the wire shelving and built wooden shelves out of cherry. OMG it's so wonderful! I had a better idea this time around about far apart I wanted the shelves etc...He still has the wire shelving. :rotfl:

Hey, Yeh usually they are majorly crowded....but not if you go at 6am!! I fell asleep after I wrote that message lol.

Gemma, what does your family eat for Christmas dinner?
I wonder what the girlfriends parents think about your brother joining the family vacation?!?

I am in the process of baking a Red Velvet Cake for Christmas dinner tomorrow. Brad had never heard of it before we were married. :confused3

Gemma, what does your family eat for Christmas dinner?

Apparently they are completely cool about it. They love him and really wanted him there :confused3 (my family havn't even met his gf!!!)

For christmas dinner we have:

Turkey with stuffing
Ham
mashed potatoes
roast potatoes
veg (carrot and parsnip, sprouts)
and gravy!! yum yum

So sorry to hear this Tracie! What's the verdict? Usually the worst part about this kind of stuff to me is the hassle of finding a time to live without the car while they fix it! Hope it all works out well for yoU!

Not sure if I told you guys this, but it reminded me. When I was working on the skis in the basement last week, I managed to mangle my wedding ring. Ended up having to use needlenose pliers to bend it enough to even get it off. I did what I could, but it was cracked and severely misshapen! I took it to the jeweler Friday and dropped it off. Only $30 to have it resoldered, coated, and made round again which I thought was reasonable. They asked if I had my lifetime warranty, and I was like, um, no we bought this back in 1986. Mentioned it to DH when he got home and he said "I have the warranty, it's in our locked box!" So maybe it'll be free! Feels really funny not wearing a wedding ring either way in the meantime!

oh and to add to the mispronouncing

me: licorice = "lick-a-rish"

jim and the kids: licorice = "lick-witch"

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Off the top of my head, one my kids ALL do, and I don't know why is pronounce upside down as "up-signed down". No matter how many times I correct them. And I know I've mentioned here before everyone in Wisconsin saying "hum-MOCK" instead of "HAM-ick". Oh, and saying bubbler instead of drinking fountain makes my kids laugh every time (that's all anyone uses here!).

Ummmm... yeah. That does seem a bit excessive for that early in the dating phase. :confused3

Well, shoot, who needs a GOOD excuse to go to Florida? Sounds like a good enough reason to me!:rotfl:

Hey, and what happened with the Packers yesterday? :confused3
Well, I'm finishing up here at work (can't you tell how hard I'm working!), and then I'll talk to you all later!

Hope everyone is having a good christmas eve and finally got everthing DW need to make her cheese cakes and then she tell me earlier that I forgot the milk and is it just me cause just a few days ago I paid $3.29 a gallon and went today and it was $4.29 :scared1: A $1.00 increase in a matter of days
