I love  the beach...so relaxing don't ya think?

I do think!!! I love to people-watch! Ya really see some brave, interesting characters out there....
I know your birthday was this month, without age guessing, all I want to say is that I hope I look as good as you when I become a mom! :thumbsup2

thank you....make sure to take time for yourself....it's hard to do that, but you have to (metabolism slows the older you get, so you HAVE to "work" at stayin in shape and lookin' good :thumbsup2 )

Have a great vacation!

Yeah wouldn't that be so cool?!?!?! All of us DISers outside of Rockefeller Center with our lime green shirts...

You mean THESE DIS shirts? (Notice that not only are we the FIRST people at the turnstiles in the morning, there aren't even any people in line with us yet - yes, I think it was about 7:40 our first morning there - for a 9am opening!)

IMG_0628.jpg

Bubba's mom - LOVED all the pics! Wasn't until I hit the jellyfish ones though that I realized that for those of you out east, the "beach" means the ocean! Out here it's pretty much just the great lakes, so we don't have to worry about those kinds of things! The only times we've actually been to the ocean have pretty much been for a couple cruises, so I don't even think of that!

Tricia - you look great in your 12 year old pic - not completely geeky like me! (Whoever thought those huge glasses, especially with the little dorky decals you could stick on the bottoms of them, were cool?)

And I know since you're all Uni people you've seen it before, but the defining quote from the vacation:

IMG_1035.jpg

Oh, and for those of you wondering, DS12 had his SEVEN teeth pulled yesterday. (WARNING - TMI AHEAD! ) Yesterday was pretty rough - they said to expect bleeding for 3-4 hours, but his continued pretty much up until bedtime. They said to use gauze at the beginning, but if we didn't keep it in later, he was "drooling" it all over his shirt (even through 2 layers of hand towels). Eating was also a problem, since he obviously can't chew, but even things like yogurt were kind of hard for him since there was so much blood going down with it. Ick!

He just laid on the sofa most of the day (we have a reclining one and they said to keep his head up). Thought he was doing well, but around 6 he got up to go to the bathroom and didn't make it and just collapsed on the hallway floor. Stayed on the sofa after that, and went to bed early.

He did fine during the night though and seems back to normal today. The doctor said he's still supposed to be lying down today and I think that's going to prove more of a challenge. He's REALLY wanted a violin, so we went and rented him one last night (short term rentals around here are really cheap - $24 for 3 months). So I awoke this morning at 6:45 to him downstairs on the computer using a website to help him tune the violin. Leaving in a bit to drop his brother off at soccer and get him some basic violin books at the music store.

We're still sticking with liquids today (or things like ice cream, jello, yogurt) because I don't want him to break the blood clots and since the teeth pulled were in all 4 corners of his mouth, he can't exactly chew yet! But other than that, he appears to be surviving!

Marcie - Okay, I'll give you the glasses... but what about the blunt/bowl cut bangs I had? And what is up with the shoes I was wearing? What was I (or my mom) thinking???

Barb - I know you probably said where you guys were in those pics, but I can't remember. My brother has a house on the Jersey Shore and the overall look of your pics strikes me as familiar. :scratchin

Mac - Glad it arrived safely :goodvibes

AND, there are those of us that work our butt off to get/stay in shape, but that stubborn butt is still hanging on. I have lost over 50 pounds since Daniel was born. I still look old and flabby, but its not for lack of trying. I think I'm going to hunt Leslie Sansone down one of these days and stomp on her perky little head... :rolleyes1

We had a cow break last night. When I have a few minutes, I'll have to share the roundup story. :lmao:

Goodness! It is never easy getting through those first few hours/days. Hard to believe he's up and around today... I know I wouldn't be yet. I hope it all goes well and the healing is quick!

Marcie- I hope you son feels better soon. When he can eat solid food again you will have to make him his favourite. lol.

WE HAVE RED STRIPE OVER HERE IN THE UK!!! Wooohoooo!! I don't drink it personally (Im a firm believer that beer and lager are for boys!!). My friends from uni do though! lol, love finding stuff I know somewhere else in the world. (Was in walmart n holiday and I found Cadbury chocolate!!)

Marcie - wow, he sure bounced back quickly! My 17 year old son just about faints at the site of his own blood. Even just a small cut! :lmao: :lmao: Hope all goes well today for him. About that violin...should you be buying earplugs for yourself? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

give him lots of hugs for us. hope he feels better real soon.

Yeah, but Tricia, the bangs are still WAY better than the "comb-over" I'm wearing! I look like a 40 year old balding man trying to pretend he's not!

And I just had to laugh at the phrase "cow break". My first thought was, "Ok, how do you break a cow?" :rotfl:

Sharon, actually it's the opposite with the violin. I was pointing out this morning that when I'm not in the same room as him, I can't even hear it for a change! Of course the fact that he normally plays the drums and the tuba might have something to do with the perspective!:rolleyes1

Bubba's mom - quick question for you on the Thing t-shirts. I know you've had that one awhile, and it still looks good to me. We bought the kids Things 1-3 shirts at Universal. Didn't wear them down there since it was SO hot. I washed them at home (before they ever wore them) and inside the circle that says Thing 1 (or whatever) a TON of the white part flaked off, but only on things 1 & 2. 3 still looks brand new, 1 & 2 look almost like a tie-dye look because there's so much red showing through. I'm guessing you didn't have this happen? Guess it's too late to return/exchange them now?

How about another before/after set to liven up the morning?

1997 (Gee, I wonder how I can tell!):

4. ok, let's hear it for the cows.......

Actually, now that I think about it, our cow roundup last night was not nearly as funny as one we had several years ago. Last night just involved Brad tramping through the woods with a flashlight and grain bucket while whistling. We only have 2 cows in the pasture, so it wasn't a big deal to get them back in.

If you want a funny cow roundup story, here is one I've told many, many times. The year was 1999...

The Cow Story

As I arrived home one night after work, I was greeted by Brad sitting on our deck with his feet propped up on the railing and a beer in his hand. This is not the way I normally found him, so I asked what was going on. He said, "I've had a really crummy day. Grab a glass of wine (I detest beer) and I'll tell you all about it." It took several hours and several more beers (for him) and glasses of wine (for me) for him to tell all the bad things that had happened at work that day. By bedtime, he was feeling much better... okay, he was feeling drunk... but it passes for better for a little while.

As we headed into the bedroom, he looks at me and says, "Did you hear something?". I tell him "no" and proceed to get ready for bed. Just about the time we were both nearly undressed, he says, "There... Listen... I definitely heard a MOO outside the window." This is not as strange as it may sound, because at the time we had 2 Black Angus and 1 Red Angus cows. My reply was something like, "You're drunk. Go to bed.", but he insists he heard our cows outside the bedroom window. He pulls back on his pants and heads outside. 30 seconds later he sticks his head back in the front door and yells, "The cows have broken out of the pasture. Come help me round them up!"

Okay, I should probably mention at this point that having cows was a new thing to me. I'm a city girl all the way. It's still weird to me that my back yard is a pasture and that I have to gather eggs from our chicken coop. So, I'm thinking, "Help round them up.... hmmm... he's got to be kidding", but I pull on some clothes and head outside anyway. He seems to think I'll serve some purpose in this endeavor, so I'll humor him.

I walk outside and see 2 of our 3 cows having a grand time tromping through our neighbor's back yard. They seemed to be doing a "we've never been in this grass before" dance. I should also mention at this point that our neighbors had only moved in about a month prior to this. We hadn't even so much as said "Hello" to these people and our cows were now doing the New Grass Rhumba in their yard. Brad has followed the cows over to the neighbor's yard and in a drunken whisper (it is about 11pm, after all) is saying, "Here cows... come on cows... time to go home now cows." The cows proceed to tromp and bellow and generally do what cows do... and ignore Brad completely.

Brad finally comes up with the brilliant idea to get a bucket of grain and lead them back in the pasture. He goes to the feed room and loads up a bucket and heads back over to the neighbors yard. He shakes the bucket, so the cows can hear the grain, and once again begins his drunken mantra of "here cows.... come on cows". He now has the big black cow's attention. Her head comes up, ears forward, and she begins to lumber over to him. She peacefully follows him to the barn in the pasture where he dumps the grain in her feed bin and she happily munches her midnight snack.

Now we're getting somewhere... one down, one to go. The other cow that's still cavorting in the neighbor's yard is the big black cow's calf. She was still nursing(not eating grain yet), so the bucket of food held no interest to her whatsoever. Brad tells me to stay by the gate and says, "wait there by the open gate while I head Little Black over here, but don't let the other two out."

Okay, I take my position at the gate. In my head, I'm thinking, "What the heck am I doing here", but again... Brad seems to think I can help... so I stand there holding the gate. Brad heads over to the little black cow and begins trying to "herd" her (get behind her and shoo her) towards our yard and the pasture gate. Meanwhile, the big black cow has finished with her grain and has come out of the barn... and it doesn't take her long to realize that her calf is still outside the fence and that Brad is chasing her. Needless to say, Momma Cow is not too happy. She begins to bellow for her calf (yes, they have a distinct sound when they call their young) and charges to the gate. CHARGES to the gate where I'M standing. Me. Against a huge, upset cow. Brad's screaming, "Don't let her out!", but I'm thinking, "That's 1000 pounds of beef headed for me. If she wants something, I'm getting out of the way!" The big black cow continues to bellow and charge and the little black cow is mooing and running. Fortunately, Big Black stopped just a few feet away from the gate and called to her calf. The calf, being well behaved, just trotted in the gate to get to Momma. WHEW! They're all inside the fence. The only problem is, we don't know where they got out of the fence in the first place.

Brad proceeds to walk (stumble) all around the fence line (remember, drunk) until he finds where the cows broke 2 of the old wooden fence posts. He looks at me and says, "Wait here and make sure they don't get back out while I go get some new posts" and walks away. Now I'm left with the 3 cows in the pasture. They look at me... I look at them. They chew their cud and continue to stare. I finally say, "I don't have any idea what I'm doing here either. He told me to wait with you, so I am. Just behave like nice cows for me, okay?" They continue to stare at me and make me feel like a complete idiot until finally Brad returns with 2 new posts and the post driver. 2 new METAL posts and the post driver. Remember, it's got to be pushing midnight by now... and our neighbors have been subjected to cows traipsing through their back yard... now they get the delightful sounds of metal posts being driven into the ground. CLANG... CLANG... CLANG... I'm amazed they didn't call the cops. So, with me and the 3 cows looking on, Brad repairs the fence and we finally call it a night.

I have since met our neighbors, and while they seem like very nice people, they're a little standoffish. I just can't imagine why....

Hi all-
Haven't been here for a day and a half and you guys have been SO chatty!!:scared1: j/k.
Trying to catch up with all the pages!

Bubba's mom - Happy belated birthday!! :bday: :cake: party:
Looked like you and the fam and your friends had a great time at the beach this past weekend for your birthday!! :woohoo:
Enjoyed the pics! :thumbsup2

Marciemi- hope your DS recoups well from the 7 teeth pulled :wizard: :wizard: I can't believe he had 7 teeth pulled at the same time :scared1: I would think the dentist would do 4 teeth at once and then 3 the next time. But, I'm not a dentist, so what do I know :rolleyes1

Enjoyed the then and now pics! :thumbsup2

RVGal- enjoyed your"then" pic, too!
I think one of your posts, you had a link to the "then and now" thread, but I didn't find you on the first page, what page were you on? I don't have much time to go thru all the pages on that thread, so if you can, please post a link of the page you are on? Thanks. Sorry I'm such a goof :upsidedow

Kstarfish- have a great trip, if I don't catch you b4 you leave!!

Hi to Mac and everyone else :wave2:

Oh, I'm so jealous of all of you that have been to WDW and /or Disneyland when you were children :guilty:
I have never been to anything Disney as a child. The first time I have stepped into anything Disney was in 1994, DH and I went on a 1 yr anniversary vacation. Chrissy's Make-A-Wish trip was our 2nd time at Disney(first time for the kids).
Ok, I'm not really extremely jealous, but felt I missed out on family vacations like that, b/c my parents really never took vacations, they still don't.
The only family vacation we took as a kid was when I was 15, my parents and I drove to Niagra Falls for 3 days total(included driving). I didn't drive, but my dad did. Ok, we also did SixFlags Great America. Was Marriott's Great America at the time. My dad never did like amusement parks. My mom was ok about amusement parks.
Anyways, I do enjoy the pics you guys have been posting. Beach pics, WDW pics, UO pics, etc. :thumbsup2

Ok, enough from me  :)

Tricia
That story is hilarious :lmao: :lmao:
I can so see you standing there by the hole in the fence, talking to the cows. Do they have horns?

RVGal- cute cow story :lmao:
I don't know if I would like to be the one to babysit the cows for a few minutes, too! :rotfl2:

That cow story is priceless!! I hope the tag fairy tags some of that!! brilliant- well done!

I want to apologize about my vent from my earlier post, if I have offended anyone, I don't mean to  :hippie:

I have so much school supply stuff to do. Gotta go.

Have a good day everyone :)
