well saturday night and we are watching the race and going thru the channels......gosh are we boring:surfweb:

Wait, I was watching the race too (even if Bristol isn't my favorite track). I also watched Apollo 13 on Bravo. Am I boring?

*Tricia, honey, it was a Saturday night and you sat in you pjs, hopped up on cold medicine, watching NASCAR on tv.*

Okay, nevermind... I answered my own question... :sad2:

Hey guys. Well you all won the 'bet she had a headache' bet! My head is killing me!! And Im not sure if it is because I'm majorly hungover or because I got kicked in the head by some guy twirling another guy over his head to 'I've had the time of my life'. OUCH!!

What, was he trying to do the "lift" from Dirty Dancing? I've been that drunk a time or two... or three or four :rolleyes1

I rarely drink anymore. I hate the taste you get in your mouth the day after. YUCK! It's cheaper not to drink too. :thumbsup2

Yeah, that what-is-a-swamp-doing-in-my-mouth taste? Yuck.

I don't drink anymore... but I don't drink any less either... :rolleyes1

Gemma, your posts cracked me up. As a person who rarely, if ever, drinks I wouldn't know much about your night last night. :snooty: However, for those extremely obscure moments of carefree silliness when I do indulge in a sip or (gasp!) two, I do have a remedy ... Mac is right. Rule #1 is to drink at least 16oz of water before bed. Rule #2 is to take a Bonine right before bed. Rule #3 is to always have good Bloody Mary Mix and expensive vodka on hand for a pick-me-up the next morning. But, again, I rarely, if ever ... get hangovers...

I have my own hangover preventions. The water thing is a must. For me, I have to add an acid controller these days (Pepcid AC, or the like)... especially if I am consuming wine. Getting old ain't for wimps, I tell ya'.

:lmao: This comin' from the "It's BEER o'clock" lady :lmao:

I have a "Beer o'clock" friend. Sometimes she chooses to say, "It's Beer:30. Doesn't matter if it is AM or PM!"

I finally have my pics on my computer. I'll try to get them on photobucket and tell you guys about my anniversary soon... maybe even today... maybe...

Good morning all on this hot humid day.......

NOOOOOO no tag there please!!

What, was he trying to do the "lift" from Dirty Dancing? I've been that drunk a time or two... or three or four :rolleyes1

Yep he was. Doing it quite well until he kicked me over the head!! It hurt! Me and my friend also had a guy singing the whole song to us down on his knees- who says romance is dead??

I don't drink anymore... but I don't drink any less either... :rolleyes1

NOW THAT IS A GREAT TAG!! ohhhh tag fairyyyyy!!

:surfweb:
the midwest is still soaking
Greece is still burning
and 1 person from Indiana won the
314 million powerball.....

I dont live in Indiana
so I did not win:sad2:

guess I have to go to work tomorrow.......

we didn't win either :sad2: ....guess movin' to Florida is gonna haveta wait.... :guilty:

We didn't win either...darn! :sad2: If you hear about someone in Louisiana winning the Powerball or someone in Texas winning the MegaMillions, now that could be us! We can't buy any lottery tickets in Arkansas, so we have to cross the state line to buy them. We live close to the Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma line. I don't know if they sell any lottery tickets in OK, though; we never go there. TX and LA also have state lottos. Sad, isn't it...we can't buy booze or lottery tickets where we live...haveta drive at least 30 miles!

Alright, now that it is out of my system...

Trip back wasn't bad...came back to cloudy humid dog days in NY tho.

Sigh...now the unpacking must begin

Gemma: Those posts were soo funny! :lmao:

No lottery winners..pity, I now they would have shared ;)

Okay, I know everyone is just humoring me with pretending to care about my report, but here goes...

We couldn't get away for our anniversary this year, so we decided to pick a nice/decent hotel within an hour drive or less and just have a few hours to ourselves. After much internet surfing, I chose the Doubletree Suites Galleria. We got an amazing rate on a two room suite with jacuzzi. Little did I know that there was a good reason why we got the amazing rate, but we'll get to that. The area of Atlanta where the hotel is located is a popular one. Near the Galleria Mall and not far from the Buckhead area (where all the popular bars, clubs, nightlife is). I just wasn't in the mood to go out into the popular area madness. Sometimes, it would be exactly what I was in the mood for, but not this time. I just wanted to settle in with Brad and be alone for a little while. So, with that in mind, I packed us a picnic dinner to take to the hotel. All I wanted to do was get to our room and close the door and not have to leave again for one full night. Not a lot to ask for, is it?

Brad's parents were a little later than they promised in getting to our house to watch the kids. They were supposed to get there about 3pm and didn't arrive until 4:30pm. I should say that, while they were doing us a huge favor watching the kids for the night, they didn't have any problem letting us know that they thought it was foolish to go to a nearby hotel for the night. "Why spend good money at a hotel when you could just drive home?" I'm not going to answer that. By the time we got our bags in the car and said goodbye to the kids, it was 5pm before we were actually on the road. No big deal. There was no traffic which, yes, even on a Saturday evening, can always be an issue in Atlanta. We arrived at our hotel a few minutes before 6pm.

The hotel looked decent, but when we pulled up to the driveway where you would normally enter the lobby, there was a sign pointing us to the "Temporary Lobby/Check In Entrance" on the side of the building. Uh-oh.

Yep. The amazing rate we got? It's because the hotel in under a major rehab. I'll admit, I'm not thrilled, but whatchagonnado? We'll make the most of it anyway, right? The lady at the check in desk seemed frazzled and scattered, she assigned us to a room on the eighth floor and we took our key cards. We went out to the car to get our suitcase, cooler, and grocery bags (remember I'm bringing dinner) and haul them up the ONE working elevator (the others had the "Please Pardon Our Dust" signs on them) to the eigth floor. We went to our assigned room, opened the door, and it was a tiny plain hotel room. Not a suite... no jacuzzi... just a regular room. Oh, I don't think so. I refused to haul all our crap back down again, so I sent Brad to the front desk to ask for another room.

He comes back and says that they reassigned us to the sixth floor. So, off we go with our assorted bags to the sixth floor. We walk in the room and it is a two room suite, but no jacuzzi AND the airconditioner on the wall is buzzing so loud I already knew I couldn't get drunk enough to sleep through it. This time I left Brad with the stuff and I went down to have a chat with the front desk.

I had my printout from our confirmation email in my hand and I showed it to the lady and explained, as politely as possible at that point, that we would not accept anything less than the type of room we had booked. She tells me, "Oh, it's just so hard what with the construction and everything... plus we have this HUGE party staying here tonight..." That is so NOT my problem lady. Give me my room and I'll be out of your overly-frosted hair. She finally assigns us to the fourth floor. She huffs and says, "It's one of the newest renovated rooms and it has a balcony, which you didn't pay for, but it's the only jacuzzi suite that I have available at this time." Oh, yeah. Give me attitude because I have the audacity to ask for the room I booked. Let me re-read that name tag again...

I went up to the sixth floor, got Brad, hauled our stuff down to the fourth floor and finally into the room where we would spend the night. She wasn't kidding about it being a newly renovated room. The paint smell was overwhelming. I had brought some Yankee Candles for ambience, but suddenly we were glad to light them for the more pleasant smell. I started setting up our table for dinner. It was nearly 7pm by this time and we were starving (tummy clock had gone off shortly after 6).

Anniversary3.jpg

Terrible pic of me I know. I guess I'm blurry because I'm in front of the lamp? Can't blame it on hubby being drunk... at least not yet. :rolleyes1

You will notice the appetizer I have provided is a green olive, mozzerella, tomato on a toothpick combo... and it is presented on the finest styrofoam china money can buy. ;)

Here's Brad after he dragged over the only other chair in the room...

Anniversary4.jpg

Let's see, we have added the shrimp and cocktail sauce to the offerings and I have already mixed my first Capt Morgan & Coke.

If you look at the sofa in the background of these pics, you will notice more signs of the recent refurbishment. The back of the sofa was covered in paint.

I started to turn the tv on to see if they had the satellite radio channels available and I realized that we had no remotes. It was becoming comical. I told Brad that at least we didn't have to worry about getting drunk and ordering any movies or games off the tv! :happytv:

Turns out, we didn't have to worry about background music. The "HUGE party" that front desk chick metioned started up. Turns out it was a family reunion/65th birthday party combo with a live band. I should probably try to describe the layout of the hotel. All the rooms are built in a square around an open atrium where the lobby, restaurant, and piano bar are. The balcony that we didn't pay extra for? Here's a look...

Anniversary5.jpg

You can see some of the construction... the piano bar was, of course, closed... and the party was taking place in the banquet rooms off the main lobby. With our "balcony" door open, we got a free live band show as our background music. It was actually quite nice.

The list of problems could have easily weighed us down, but instead we just laughed it off and had a good time anyway. I think Barb was worried about me posting nudie pics from our wild night, so I won't disappoint her...

You'll just have to take my word on the nekkid part. :rotfl:

When we got home on Sunday afternoon, we had to take the kids to a guilt lunch at BK. We're sorry we enjoyed not being around you guys for a few hours, so here, we'll get you some chicken nuggets to make up for it...

BK1.jpg

BK2.jpg

And one last picture from when we arrived home from BK...

BK3.jpg

I kept having this creepy feeling when I watched Daniel playing with his McDonald's cash register while wearing his BK crown... like the universe was going to collapse or something. Then I remembered, Joshua wore his Shrek shirt to MK and the world didn't end. It's okay to mix corporations and their products... it's okay to mix corportions and their products... :lmao:

Todd....I know there are houses down there for sale...ya big silly.... ...but, we have a "plan" and so far, we're stickin' to it (it only changes if we hit the lottery first!)

KSTAR...welcome home :yay: Glad you're home safe...where's the pix and the trippie......(no pressure here :rolleyes1 )

Tricia..... WOOHOO!!!!! :yay: YAY trippie w/ pix!!! Sorry to hear the bum deal on the hotel, however, you made the best of a bad situation....and let's face it, it's not "where" ya do it, but with "who" :rolleyes1 . PERFECT insertion of smilies to match right along with the storytellin' :thumbsup2 (laughed my butt off!) So, no pix of that jacuzzi, huh? Didja get a chance to use it? And what's with the paint on the sofa? I get this image of them painting "around" it :rotfl: ...but I know they aren't going to leave it there...of course! I'm sure the boys were glad to see you....I remember not missing my Mom when she left us w/ the grandparents...my grandparents were cool and I loved staying with them! Thanks for sharing your "night" with us......I'm sure a night you's will never forget ;)

You know, after fighting so hard to get the room with the jacuzzi, you'd think I would have a picture of it, wouldn't you? You'll notice that I didn't have many pictures to work with. I guess I wasn't in the mood to photograph the paint-smelling-remote-missing room. But, yes, we did take a dip in the jacuzzi.

I wondered the same thing about the paint on the sofa. Did they not move it and just paint around it? Whoever was doing the refurbishments was clearly not doing a good job.

love the report tricia.
it is so cute!

Thanks Mac! :goodvibes

tricia - thanks for the report, too bad it wasn't exactly as you had envisioned...glad it turned out well.

always eat a piece of bread slathered in butter before you start boozin:thumbsup2

quick check in, frying up some chicken wings, need bones to gnaw on while I watch my beloved Steelers demolish the Eagles:banana: who dare to fly into our house.

our team has new coach, Tomlin; we haven't quite got it together yet...asked DH who he thought would win tonight - his reply

"which team has 5 superbowl rings?" :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: he-he; can you tell i live in a house fueled by testosterone?

yes, we did take a dip in the jacuzzi.

Would that be a skinny dip or a regular dip? (was going to ask if it was another....but that "mama" saying was screamin at me in my head again ;) )

We ate meatball sandwiches for dinner....Sunday is usually an "easy" day around here. It's also grocery store day and laundry day and watch Butterfly Effect popcorn:: w/ DH day....

Oh man Penny....THIS TIME NEXT WEEK!!!! Then, we'll have ALL NEW pictures to look forward to lookin' at  (did that make sense?)
