forgot to answer re APs, we get DVC discount $100 pp; so it's a good deal if we'll be visiting twice in a 12 month period or a single long stay.

since we bought the U AP for 2 years & we're doing the cruise/then DL before next summer; we'll just pick it up again next Dec. to get another 3 trips outta the deal - as capt jack would say - savy?

So, Jodie, your favors can be bought for a 3 Musketeers Bar? Hmmmm... good to know...

Barb - That sounds like quite a schedule for Bubba (and you). It sounds like you are all enjoying it, so that makes it worth it! I can't stand when parents look sideways at each other and do the "that's too much for a kid that age" thing. They are usually the same people that complain other parents "baby" their kids by not giving them enough responsibility or structure. In other words, the only parenting that is right is however THEY raise their kids.

I don't think the Falcons were a one man team... but the quarterback is the keystone to building plays. When you build plays based on one guy, especially if you are going to showcase his unique running ability (which is one thing I will give Vick some credit for), and that guy is gone, then it shakes things up. Add to that press around here droned on and on that the team would be lost without Vick... and I think the rest of the team bought into it. You know what they say, never believe your own press. I think some of the players forgot that. We've got enough talent on the team that they *should* be able to pull together and play well. Last Sunday's game gave me hope. I'm not saying we'll win very many games because I think that chance is gone for this season... but I think we might not stink as bad as I first feared.

Janet - I don't get to watch grownup tv. Well, I do see things like... ahem... Dancing With the Stars, but the stuff with crime and drama and intrigue and grownup humor... sigh... not yet. I could watch something after I put the kids to bed, but I'm usually not in the mood.

Joshua is in school the first week of December, but oh how I wish I could just pick up and head to Florida then.

Before our last cruise, I found Capt Morgan and Bacardi in our liquor store in plastic bottles shaped EXACTLY like mouthwash bottles. Flat, plastic, mouthwash-shaped bottles full of rum. Put each one in big ziploc baggies with a few who cares toiletries thrown in... checked the bags at the airport... and we had rum waiting for us in our cabin. Our bar tab was hardly worth mentioning that trip.

Just something for your consideration... ;)

i didn't even think of hauling it from home:banana: you go girl!

really like the idea of camoflauging it,espec since i tend to drag a virtual drugstore with me...with kids you never know.
don't worry, the whole dead-tired/young kid thang will pass - eventually.;) Watched Barney & then the Lion King so many times I knew the dialogue...I actually miss those days - sometimes.

At the moment, I think there should be a special room in Hades for whomever was responsible for subjecting the parents to Barney. His/Her neighbor should be the force behind the Teletubbies. Added to the list this month, the guys that created Yo Gabba Gabba. :scared:

and don't forget the DoodleBops :headache: :headache:

Can someone tell me WHY the heck posts like this get to me? Are all people really this uninformed??? Do people really not give a rats' patootie about others? I know I wouldn't act this way even if I wasn't fighting this battle everyday. :sad2: :sad2:

Oh, Lord... not another peanut allergy thread. Now they are creeping out onto the other boards, not just the Community and Theme Parks Boards.

Dead Horse, meet You're Beating.
You're Beating, meet Dead Horse.

Tricia,

You know it really wouldn't bother me if people were a little understanding. I think the whole peanut allergy thing (and Moms who go completely apes**t with the condition) have really tainted others and have desensitized them to the true severity of the situation. But to be completely uninformed and only care about themselves, eh, that is where I draw the line. I am not a Gestapo with the whole peanut thing, although I should be (I am careful and we take precautions - don't expect the world to adapt for Court but for her to adapt to her enviornment), but when it comes to a person's health and safety, for pete's sake, have at least a little shred of humanity. But I agree with you....its like beating a dead horse

Janet & Jodie -You just aren’t getting the whole idea of the homie trip - it needs to be a special trip, not one that is already planned!!!!! Hey Barb, Bubba & the DH can come along too! So can anyone else’s dh,s pr dk’s. Although the trip would be so mich more fun if it was just us!

Barb - The AP’s are just cause this is the first year we have not had either an active WDW AP or USO AP. If we have one we feel that we need to go to Orlando. I love to go to DisneyLand, especially prefer their time zone, much more vacation friendly, but I keep skipping it since the money is already invested in Florida park tickets.

As for Ally’s pics - in the parade pic she is actually looking for me, add to that it was hot out & they had already rode about a mile.

The soccer pic was at the end of the game. They had gotten clobbered, played a mostly boys team & they weren’t being subbed, all 8 of them were playing the entire second half. They were all beet red when they got off the field.

Poor Bubba, sounds like he has a lot on his plate. I hate it when they have lots of homework. Ally usually has less than 30 minutes worth a night & has to read for 15 minutes 20 nights a month. That pretty much covers it unless she misses school for something.

Now for television - I do like Heros, but have not watched it much. I like Dancing with the Stars too, watched it last night. Really enjoy the original CSI & Miami version, sorry to hear it wasn’t good last night Penny. I also like shows like Numbers & Medium. With all that said though , I rarely get to watch any of it. Usually the main tv is on the Disney Channel. Just from hearing those shows over & over I could probably tell you just about anything that is going to happen on any of their shows!

Jodie - forget having to be nice to FUG. If he only did something nice because he wanted something from you then he didn’t really do something nice, it was bribery!

Tricia - Oh the joys of Barney & the Teletubbies! I am so glad those days are over!

Tracy - I have only seen bits of the doodle bops a couple of times. That looks like another one I wouldn’t be able to take!

I think that catches me up. Gotta get around and head out to a baseball game tonight. Had a meeting that was supposed to last for 2 hours that ended up taking all day so nothing was done to the house today. Guess it will have to wait till tomorrow!

Okay I am not even going to go check out the thread. Don't let me see someone being an idiot where a childs health, or more importantly our Cbean's health. I just might get banned.

I know. It's ridiculous. If someone is contact allergic to peanuts, they could die. How is that trivial compared to "My DD is on a food jag and will ONLY eat PB&J." Don't feed DD for a day and see what happens. I betcha she eats something. Even if she doesn't, I bet she doesn't DIE. :sad2:

I guess what gets me about those threads is that they are SO predictable now. Somebody says "peanut allergy", doesn't matter what the context is, and the same people will chime in with the same comments over and over. I mean the OP on this thread was asking very carefully if it would be okay to bring a pb sandwich on a plane. Once she found out she could bring a sub from a place past security, she decided to go that route and not cause any potential problems for anyone else. The rest of that thread is just the same old firestorm that erupts every time.

it is like 85 here in maine. on sept 25th. and wed may hit 90....

is it really sept or July?????:scared:

the peanut allergy thread went downhill fast.....:surfweb:

have any of you been to tampa or clearwater?

getting a flight from here to bahamas will not be easy, and I HATE flying outa Boston(over 2 hours one way for one thing)
so I thought, what about tampa?
any comments/suggestions/last words?

Goodness Penny... that's warmer than we are here! Our high today was 84.

I've been to Tampa airport, but that's it. Don't think I've ever been to Clearwater. Are you looking for somewhere to spend a day or two before you fly to the Bahamas?

Oh my, I did read the thread. As long as someone doesn't develop a severe allergy to Blue Chips, I could not care less whether we have a peanut free flight or not. A Chip-Free flight is a whole 'nother story! ;) But, I do understand both sides of the issue. And, Tracie, I think you're right ... some parents have been so over-protective and unreasonable that is has ruined it for those who truly have a need. Then there are just plain idiots who don't have a clue.

I do think that parents who allow their severely and deathly allergic (not just mild hive-type reactions) nut allergy kids to fly have a lot of confidence in common courtesy which seems to be lacking these days. There's always going to be a chance that some jerk won't care about someone's else's allergy and will eat something he's brought on board whether it has peanut products or not. It's not like the airlines strip-search people to look for peanut products. They ASK pax not to eat peanuts, but they can't really STOP them. I think it's definitely a leap of faith to trust that everyone on the plane is understanding. We're surrounded by selfish jerks everyday. What's the chance of not being on a plane with one, especially the way airline travel is so stressful anymore? Call me a pessimist. I do have faith in the goodness of others. I believe that most people will do the right thing and not open their nut-containing foods. Most people, but not all people.

Lori, c'mon! Plan a trip the 1st week of December. You know you totally want to! :)

lori - won't be the 1st time i missed the point - period:rotfl:

haven't heard of the oompa lumpa gonzos or whatever;) , glad i missed that kiddie krap.

it was 93 here today, believe we broke a record, last afternoon in my pool for the season...let me have a pity party...1, 2, 3:dance3:

i'm getting 'me hairs done tomorrow, wish me luck

if it weren't for the threads here i'd know nothing of peanut allergies:confused3 . No restrictions in our local schools as to food brought in for snackies/treats/parties; except it should take a stab @ being healthy. Do know an acquaintance who's daughter is allergic, ate fried food on vaca (after restuarant insisted they didn't use peanut oil); she survived due to epi pen...her college was immediately paid for:thumbsup2 . Odd though, no edict was ever sent/practiced as to her classroom in school as I can recall from my time volunteering?

penny - ooooh, when you going to the bahamas - which island? tampa is supposed to be a newer, very easy to navigate airport. Only issue i found was most of the car rental sites are offsite/shuttle. I booked Dollar (for the 1st time, they'll even shuttle us to the port & back to airport to catch our flight - FREE!) 'course i'll tip well.:)

Janet & Jodie -You just aren’t getting the whole idea of the homie trip - it needs to be a special trip, not one that is already planned!!!!! Hey Barb, Bubba & the DH can come along too! So can anyone else’s dh,s pr dk’s. Although the trip would be so mich more fun if it was just us!

eh..even if they DID come to UO, they wouldn't come to the meet..... plannin' a whole 'nother trip could be costly for the 3 of us...next summer is costin' a small fortune :scared: Be nice if we could get together.....

Barb - The AP’s are just cause this is the first year we have not had either an active WDW AP or USO AP. If we have one we feel that we need to go to Orlando. I love to go to DisneyLand, especially prefer their time zone, much more vacation friendly, but I keep skipping it since the money is already invested in Florida park tickets.

well, that makes sense..... :rolleyes1

They were all beet red when they got off the field.

hhmmm...that makes sense too...didn't realize they were taken at "the end"....no wonder she looks beat

Poor Bubba, sounds like he has a lot on his plate. I hate it when they have lots of homework. Ally usually has less than 30 minutes worth a night & has to read for 15 minutes 20 nights a month. That pretty much covers it unless she misses school for something.

He is a busy dude...keeps me hoppin'...my only time for me is Sunday (to do laundry and food shopping  ) and Tues and Fri morning while he is at skool...can ready myself for work in peace... I know parents who have their kids in everything and complain about being so busy....and parents who have their kids in nothing..... and yes, every parent complains and wants to be the only one who knows how to raise the "perfect" child. Personally, doing some chores and running around outside playing soccer is not going to kill you. It's exercise for pete's sake, and we HAVE to make time for it! Homework is non-negotiable and yes, some teachers go crazy, others not so much. I am not one to have him walk in the door from being at skool all day and do homework... take a breather and relax for a bit. You can only 'push' your kids "so" much before they break or hate you....

Tricia - Oh the joys of Barney & the Teletubbies! I am so glad those days are over!

me too...but, cherish them...you'll "wish" them back some day

How'd the baseball game go???

Janet....mummydust for the hair tomorrow :goodvibes Tell her flat out you will NOT be back if she doesn't do it right....more incentive :thumbsup2

Ya know...I stumbled upon that peanut allergy thread the other day and just could not comment.... :sad2: ridiculous.... (I was checking out what peeps thought about the new SW boarding process).... but, i agree w/ y'all...beat that horse!!!

Other than that, nuthin' much new here. Bubba had soccer pic taken tonite....of course one dude was late...arrived just after they took team pic :headache: ..in a way it was 'ok'...he wore the wrong color jersey anyway... (parents really need to pay closer attention....late AND wore wrong jersey :sad2: )

Other than that, we good....time to make Bubba's Dad's lunch for tomorrow....
have a good nite everyone and sleep well........

and I forgot to add....pretty slow day around here today..... :scratchin ....that will never do!!!! will be too easy for macraven to catch up when she gets home :rotfl2:

c'mon guys.... yak it up!!!!
