Phila PHS Flower Show 2026:

Had a nice morning strolling through all the beautiful flowers. The smell of roses, tulips and others really remind us, that Spring is not that far away. Given, it was 37out, and felt like 32 with the wind, and was damp, given the large amount of rain we had, in the overnight hours. Had a very nice lunch in a very crowded Hard Rock Cafe, and then walked to the nearby Reading Terminal, where there is an Italian bakery, where we bought a cheesecake, and some freshly filled cannoli. I first found that bakery when I worked in the Southern part of the city, where the actual bakery is, where people line up along the blocks before the bakery, hours before it opens, for holiday orders. Nothing like fresh baked goods brought from that bakery’s pop up store in that very bustling marketplace, where you can buy almost anything food wise, and the smell of all kinds of food fills that very narrow aisles lined with mostly food offerings, freshly cooked, for sale and some not food items. Then our train ride home.

Was an enjoyable Friday. So, how was your’s homies?

Kids are so crazy, been asking if anyone wanted dinner. Everyone said no. I’m somewhat hungry, though had a cannoli with a nice large cup of tea, and figured no dinner to make. Older one just came by and said he was hungry and was going out for chicken dinner. Said, you can get me one too. How nice is that. Though a late hour dinner.

At least the only thing we have to do tomorrow, is get gas for older one’s car. Guess little one and I will go to the gas station when she gets moving. May be around lunchtime.

So nice the weekend starts now! Yeah, and will be on Daylight Saving timekeeping at 2 am Sunday. Ah, the few days when you feel like that hunger for dinner, earlier than when it is dinnertime. Until your body gets used to that hour ahead jump. Means we will then be getting ever that closer to Spring, and get out of that still winter time, two weeks from today. Yay! Hopefully that means warm weather days will be felt as we go through this month of March. With an early Easter for those celebrating that spring holiday days after this month ends.

Beautiful flower pics. Sounds like you had a wonderful day despite the weather. You should come here. It will be in the 70s and 80s most of the week.

Nothing much going on here. I did some exercise yesterday and am feeling it today. I am going to try to do at least 30 minutes of some kind of exercise each day. I am seriously considering signing up for our local Thanksgiving turkey trot 5K. I won't be able to run because of my arthritic knees, but they also allow walkers. I've never done anything like this before.

almost that time!

we broke a temp record here today, it hit 78 woohoo. was sunny & beautiful, until until I was driving home from DMV

coming down highway hill, could see sun far off on horizon while getting pelted with hail & torrential rain that popped out of nowhere???

had to dodge cars that came to dead stop vs what most elected, slowing to a crawl. granted, no real berm in that area to pull off, but still; not a good choice.

my nerves were really frazzled after seeing a car heading onto the highway via the ramp I was exiting. it was coming the wrong way. can't say I've ever seen that. thankfully, car was both ahead of me & it was a multi lane exit. they were able to right themselves and do a U-turn

turns out we had unexpected tornado sightings north of us, don't think they set down. lots of communities here without power.

I'm surprised & annoyed no weather alerts received until after that storm passed. meanwhile, 3 miles away, my street just had light rain & some thunder. glad that wild ride is over

back from 2nd quickie trip of year. not quite jet-lag, close. think it's more like running on fumes.

forgot how much I enjoy BCV's SAB pool. perfect weather this time vs the 30's end of Feb there when pool time off the table

An ouch, bought older his last month, and mine needs renewal next month. Expensive these first four months of the year.
APs real hurt piece. mine is due in January, the mr in late April & last one early July. TBH can't remember exactly why they are so staggered. regardless, gives me some breathing room there. i'm hoping the May discounted renewal rumors come to fruition!

want to buy our U APs before the bonus 3 month promo goes poof. no idea how long that will last. i let ours go in October as wasn't planning on doing a non Epic park until September. seemed like a good plan at the time lol

charade - good luck to your DD

i usually pounce on the Sam's disney GC special discounts

don't forget to keep an eye out for Best Buy

there's always target, with the red card discount, if u can't find a better deal

Glad those tornado warnings were not near you, Keisha. My friend lives in Cranberry Township, so I hope she and her home and family are okay.

Ah almost the time I see 3 instead of 2 am coming up. I’m usually not a night owl, but took a late afternoon nap, apparently, hence I’m not as tired yet. DH went to bed even a bit earlier. He rarely wakes up when I come to bed. Me? When he shifts out of bed, I wake up. But mostly can go back to sleep after that rude wake up.

Oooh that siren loudly went by. That main drag a block from our house gets traffic 24 hours a day.

Eh, better get my nighttime detail done and to bed.

Hope all have a good Sunday, as ours will be with trash can dragging later today, with a visit in there too.

Good night all.

My friend lives in Cranberry Township, so I hope she and her home and family are okay.
That’s a little under a half hour from us via turnpike. Was about the same distance, east of that area where the warnings hit. Appears we wound up with a watch after the 1st band of storms came through.

When I was out and about yesterday, noticed gas prices had bumped up again $.20. Hour later, same route home…went up nearly another $.50 a gallon. At this point this past week’s gentle, daily reminder to the Mr to fill up his big tank in truck is going to morph into an ‘I told you so’ lol

Yeah, that nasty jump in gas prices, last we also saw it at the gas pump yesterday, Keisha. Was below three dollars for a while, when we pumped yesterday, was 60 cents higher than I did pump it last week.

Was a beautiful day, and finally, a clear sky tonight, as saw Orion and some other stars.

So glad I am retired, as this Monday was always the ugh one, when that alarm would have gone off at 4 tomorrow morning, feeling like 3 am. But will be up and dressed a little earlier than I tend to be lately, as little one wants to go out for breakfast tomorrow, given older one has to do an early errand, so she’ll take out her car, so I get to go with her in style.

Hope all had a most enjoyable weekend, and enjoying the taste of spring we are getting Monday through Wednesday, when our highs are in the low 70’s. But yeah, we will pay for that nice weather, as drops 10 degrees on Thursday, 20 degrees lower on Friday, and 30 degrees lower on Tuesday. Sigh. Hoping warmer weather bursts the rest of next week.

Wahoo, Spring is less than two weeks from today.

Up too early again thanks to the cat. Nothing interesting planned for this week. I have started a small exercise program that I hope to be able to stick to. I realized though that my knees don't like it, so I have ordered some neoprene knee sleeves that should arrive tomorrow. I hope they help.

I'm glad y'all are doing okay after the crazy weather you have had. It has been rather mild here although there is potential snow in the forecast next week.

My Universal AP expires in December and I am considering not renewing this year since we are planning to get Disney APs. We may only do that for one year though since they are so pricey. I am already thinking about when I want to go next year.

Speaking of Disney, B has her interview in a few hours. I am praying that she does well. I think this could be a good opportunity for her. She also has 2 potential summer internship opportunities. She needs to send in a letter of recommendation to each. She has asked a couple of her professors if they would write her one, but hasn't heard back yet. After this week she will have just 9 credit hours left to complete her Masters degree.

Sending good luck and good vibes to B, that she hears good news from Disney.

And I hear ya, Charade, pricey to have both parks APs. I just renewed my Disney one, but we may take a break when it expires next year. Same with Universal’s one. As little one said, we have been doing Orlando forever, and should look at other places to vacation. So, maybe we will take a break next year, when all ours expire. Then, if older one lives there, maybe we will get APs a few years later, and he can get a resident one if he wants before than.

Was a most beautiful day, and full day of sunshine and a few degrees even warmer than today. But we will pay for it, as temps fall after that, including a chance for snow next week. Ugh.
