Quick hello. One more day if work and then I'm off until January 12. This week I am trying to cram 4 days worth of work into 2, plus get the therapists ready for insurance changes that will happen at the first of the year. I've also had a couple of last minute problems come up that I would like to get resolved today. Ugh!

Tomorrow we are planning to take down our tree and other Christmas decorations. I don't trust Caspian alone in the house for a week with the tree. I also want to make sure the house is clean before we leave.

It's 9:00. I've been awake since 6:00. No one else is awake except for the cat. I am so ready to leave for FL but need to clean house first. I've got so much to do and don't want to do any of it.

I am wondering if the Helios is below expected capacity. I have been checking rates and the price keeps dropping. This morning a standard room was just $249. The low rate I booked a year ago doesn't seem special anymore. We have a reservation at Flora Taverna our first
night. I hope it's worth the cost. I told dh that he could pick the restaurants, but the only other one he chose was Das Steakhaus.

I hear sounds of life. Hopefully it is dh getting up so we can start taking the Christmas stuff down.

Yay, hope your trip is fabulous and fun, Charade. My kids arrive at that hotel less than 2 weeks from today. My little one is as good at checking rates as I am. She got club there, for close to what she had as a standard room rate. They are only doing 3 nights there, as 2 full days at Epic is what they planned. Little one has an AP there, so I think she got that rate as and AP one. Then they go over to the mouse, where she also scored good deals on the two hotels they are staying at on their 2 week trip. We are surely making use of our APs at both places.

Ah, the camel said he’s taking the day off, as party time tonight, to watch that ball drop in the comfort of a warm house. Will be 31 degrees at midnight here. Probably about the same temp in NYC. And no way would I want to be there today or tonight either.

And so, no camel or not, get over this hump of a day feeling, and yay, fabulous Friday feeling then a day away.

Woot! Last Wednesday in December, and the last day of the year. So, a Wonderful Wednesday wish to all for the very last time this year.

Hehe, this lazy all the time, has had me needing a very late morning shower. Oops, but so nice not to get ready in that predawn hour now. Even if I’m awake around that time.

Good morning. Party cloudy day, and 30 degrees out right now. Glad that cold feeling wind, 25mph with 35 mph gusts was not my idea of nice weather these last two days, has finally died down today. Good thing, the wind chill today is around the same temp. Yesterday, was 27 degrees at 10 that morning, wind chill temp? 6 degrees. Bad hair alert was with that wind advisory issued very early Monday into most of Tuesday.

Yay, a post from Sue. Hope your and family new year will be happy and heathy.

Ooh, I’d better get to sleep soon.

We had a nice, relaxing New Year Day. Sad, as was my mom’s birthday, and no matter what, we always had a birthday new year’s family dinner.

And a surprise greeted us this morning, as snow flurries were said the night before. About an inch of snow, and slippery conditions until the sunshine and cars cleared the unsalted roads. We stay at 30 degrees the high, until close to 40 on Tuesday. Right now, 21 degrees, with a wind chill fee like temp of 16. 20 degrees is the low, from 2 to 6 am. Then back to 21 by 7 am.

Woot! As today was the first Friday in 2026 and was a lazy one for me. Hope all had a most fabulous Friday today.

Happy Friday. I am going to finish up some house cleaning and then start packing. Tomorrow we drive to Charlotte and Sunday afternoon we fly. It looks like the weather will be perfect.



We have a slight chance of a wintery mix here tomorrow. Thankfully we will be heading south.

Thanks Lynne. I just had my first vacation frustration. I can't find my water bottle carrier bag. I just saw it a couple of days ago and now it has disappeared. It's the kind that has a pouch that holds your phone and credit cards/cash. I finally gave up looking for it and just ordered another one on Amazon. It should arrive at the hotel the day I check in.

Annnnddd......... about 5 minutes after placing the order I found my bottle carrier hanging in my closet. I swear dh and I both looked in there at least a half dozen times each. Thankfully I was able to cancel the Amazon order.

This vacation is off to an interesting start. We booked a park/sleep/fly hotel near the Charlotte airport. We got almost to the hotel and noticed the area looked a bit sketchy. We were supposed to turn down a road that was between a boarded up IHop and a "gentleman's club". Unfortunately there were about 5 police cars on that street. There was what appeared to be a single car wreck and downed power lines. We made it to the hotel only to find out the power was out. We had to wait in the lobby for about 30-40 minutes until power was restored and they got their reservation system rebooted.
We are now in our room thinking about what to get for dinner.
The adventure continues tomorrow.

Wait.... there's more. We went to dinner. One of the cooks got burned and had leave, so the kitchen was shorthanded. We were there for an hour before we got our food. Our waitress was excellent though. Drinks never got empty and she checked on us frequently. The food was really good too.
I hope that's the last of the vacation drama.

Ah, we are at mid week already and who do I see?




Yep, get over this hump of a day we call Wednesday, then a fabulous Friday only a day away.

Woot! The first Wednesday in the new year, and in the month of January. Just saying. We will be at mid month before ya know it. Time does fly, as the holiday decor is now just a dream in the stores, now all you see is Valentines everywhere. Hehe, next thing you will buy will be candy and flowers by mid month next month. Then bunnies will appear after that sweet month. Easter is early April this year.

Oh and welcome to 2026. Yeah, hard to remember to write the new year when it first begins. Goodbye 2025, that year seemed fly by so fast.

And another hehe, little one asked if I would get a hobby. Yeah, plotting and scheming for another trip. Like next month and for my day in May already planned. Maybe have to see if can do another Spring trip. But have to say, not moving until late morning to get ready for the day, has become the norm. To my kids happiness. Neither are early birds by any stretch. However, their flight down is a crack of dawn one. Will say safe travels to them as they leave at the time I use to wake up for that week day routine. They will be up earlier than that time, but most likely I will go back to sleep after they leave. I am glad not to do that predawn city drive anymore. And they are lucky, as friend is doing that airport drop off and pick up. I am too. But since the one trip is only older one and I, little one will be doing that drop off at almost the same time. Hey, at least arriving mid morning means almost a full day there.

Good afternoon all. 49 degrees out and yeah, that wind chill just won’t go away. Feel like temp due to wind is 37 degrees. Little brrr when that cool wind hits me if I go out today. Yeah, I know, winter is still upon us. Including what I say is our coldest month, next month. But hey, as my sister says, 5 months away from opening her pool. Woot! Will be happily enjoying that warmer weather when it comes. And yes, we did have snow on Easter one year. But as can still be cool in April, warmer days from that month should come. Some years, we even used the AC by the start of May. Here’s hoping for a very warm Spring this year.
