I had a chili station

I love those bowls. So cute.

I just received one of those "You're almost here" emails from Universal. My trip isn't until January and I have another booked in November 2026. I called to make sure they didn't accidentally put me down for the wrong dates. I also let them know that the deposit for November had not hit my credit card yet. Apparently someone just forgot to run my card. It has all been taken care of now.

Twenty more minutes and I can go home.

Ah today is Veterans Day, and what did DH want that is free for vets today? Yep, that free coffee for vet and family at Wawa. And so, 2 of us got hot coffee. The other two, got iced coffee from that coffee place I always feel like has burnt coffee taste.

And that wind. Ugh. 47 mph gusts with 20 mph winds. Once, made older one’s car whistle a little as were zipped along the highway to do our Costco run. And, being a holiday that most local school districts are still in session, only mostly saw adults during our short shopping trip. Sometimes we only get a few things we need there, like the 4 things we bought, total today. And of course, bought a hotdog with drink on the way out, to deliver to DH when we arrived home.

Now just chilling in our heater on home, with kids going out to do errands and maybe visit a friend of older one’s whom they both knew since elementary school. The friend just got two new puppies.

Hmm, soup and grilled cheese sounds good for dinner tonight. And what a great spread you had for Halloween, Robo. Thanks for sharing the photos of the spread and beautiful decor.

But even with the holiday today, it’s a Taco Tuesday. And where did we go for lunch near that Costco? Nope, not Taco Bell near it too, but a burger place instead. Little one and I did that lunchtime run, and she is no fan of Taco Bell food. And, that burger place now has onion rings on its menu, and they are delicious. The one we like in Fla has mac and cheese instead. Decent tasting, when we tried that other side, when we ate there twice on our last trip.

Ack Charade, for not having deposit go through. Glad you got it fixed for your trip coming up next year.

Ah, nothing like having to drive your own car, when my kids do almost all the driving when we go out. But that glorious sunshine is today, with 56 the high.

Yay, I think the office has the heat on. Not too warm yet, but warmer than I remember the last time I was in. Been quiet since I arrive at my predawn time. 2 meetings today, so hoping it makes the day go fast. Do not look forward to the commute home though.

And hehe, turned off the alarm after it went off. Still thinking to do a 5 day weekend.

And DH said, after being off for 3 weeks, he’s glad I’m retiring. Being wake early, but not moving fast has been so nice. I am ready to hang up that apron. If I do take leave for 3 more days, then I will have 5 more trips into city. DH was like won’t you get paid for the leave you have on the books. Yeah, I will, but having off a few more days, that time is worth more to me than the money value of days of leave. I’ll still get paid for sick leave and the rest of the vacation leave I don’t use. And, we will be fine, as our monthly payments will be almost the same. And have 3 more fun time trips already scheduled. Hehe, all of which, I don’t need to schedule leave from that week day routine. Woot!

Thirsty Thursday is upon us, and I’m doing my part. Second cup of tea I am on, after a long time going through my week day routine emails. I had only a small handful that were saved. Ooh, that next holiday is 2 weeks from today. Last one I get paid for. No complaint though. Will be nice to enjoy life without that week day routine.

Did I say it was sunny? Yep, golden sunshine is pouring through my office window. Though a fast step into the building this morning. Thought I don’t need a jacket to forget when I leave. That wind, was cool feeling, and was glad I was parked close, as somewhat warm as I entered, after riding in a 70 degree car, with a low heat setting that warmed the car seat. Time of year, I’m glad my car has heated seats.

Was at the huge mall yesterday to walk around with something to see. Santa was not yet there, so picture of where he sits.

Happy Friday, or as it's known in our house today, B's 25th birthday. We went for a birthday breakfast this morning and have plans for dinner out tonight. Tomorrow we are going out to have tea as per her request.

She went to purchase Epic tickets today and the calendar showed they were sold out of individual tickets for January 5 and 6. I was so hoping for lower crowds that week.

Nothing else going on around here except I have somehow injured my left arm. I have pain in the neck, shoulder, and upper arm. I have no idea what I have done to cause this.

Hmm, maybe pinched a nerve, Charade? I hope your arm and aches are better soon.

Quiet night we have, as always a night I can stay up late, though DH not a night owl at all, and had gone to bed 2 hours ago.

Chances of rain this weekend, but was a cool but glorious sunny day we had this Friday.

Good news, bad news kind of day. Good news - my neck and shoulder are feeling much better today. Not quite 100%, but close.

Bad news - our downstairs toilet, for lack of a better word, exploded this morning. There was water everywhere and it seeped into the garage. We've called a plumber and are waiting to hear back.

To make matters worse, we have a reservation for tea at 2:00 today and then dh and I are supposed to go to the university for a football watch party. I hope the plumber calls soon so we know if he can come today or we need to schedule something. I hate to see what this is going to cost.

Nope. Never heard back from the plumber. Guess we will need to call again on Monday.

Ack, hate when plumbing issues not resolved fast. Hope you do get service on Monday, Charade. And glad to hear your pain in the arm is much better today. I hope you are at 100 percent tomorrow.

Glorious sunshine and wind advisory this last weekend day, and start of the mid month week. 57 the high, with the wind, dips it almost 10 degrees. Sweatshirt and pants on. And my sunglasses.

Sister visit today, so getting ready. We supply brunch, she has dinner for us.

Yep. This is our day to drag those trash cans to the curb when we get home. Then, no alarm set, as did decide to shorten the two last weeks of week day routine. Squeel.

Magical Monday to all this evening.

Was a windy day again. When we left the house at 10 this morning it was 43 with a real feel of 27 degrees. Little brr. Though had my sweatshirt and sweat-jacket on, had my soft wool pants on. So did not feel cool to me. Plus, heated seats and warm inside the car not much after turning it on. Older one and I had breakfast out, with little one taking DH to his doctor’s appointment. Then we all were back and had a late lunch with soup and sandwiches. Not everyone was that hungry for dinner, so made cookies and bought a tub of cut of fruit, so that and chicken with green beans were the late dinner we had.

Tacos on the menu tomorrow? Maybe. Decided to be lazy tomorrow too. Little one said she would like breakfast out at the bagel place we like. Okay with me, as we had done breakfast there in the past, and they have good coffee too, and use real eggs and thick bacon in their sandwiches. Lunch, if older one wants Taco Bell lunch, then maybe tacos would be on the lunch menu. Taco Tuesday coming up when you wake up tomorrow.

Weee, the week before the week that week that has a holiday Thursday and the ending of my week day routine appropriately on Black Friday. And, then the end of the month to start the week after that, welcoming December on that Monday. Ah, when traffic gets more and more busy starting the week of Thanksgiving.

Tick tick, tick, the countdowns to our holiday trip, Christmas baking right before Christmas.

not yet, for us though. After Thanksgiving, yes.

Ah, rainy start to this mid week day, and my auto headlights went to hi beam a few times as I drove through the neighborhoods into the city. And, it’s still raining now, as hear it bouncing off my office window’s metal strips over the window. But phone weather app, says will be gone after eight this morning. Thus, did not use my umbrella, and just got a little wet from my close, and one of my favorite parking spots.

But as we are mid week, the day is called Wednesday. And a great reminder is our camel friend:



Yep, as Wednesday is the day we feel like getting over this hump of a day feeling today, and then Friday only a day away. Yay, the last pay day Friday is this week, that I have weekday routine. Woot!

And decided to do that week day routine the rest of the week, as office hosting a holiday pot luck lunch on pay day Friday. Hehe, when family has to figure out dinner, as big lunch that day, means not hungry at dinner time. And after lunch, leave approved, so my shortest last Friday of week day routine will be even shorter. Yay! Then, 3 day weekend, before the last two days of week day routine days, as lazy every day retirement will start the day after that food coma, extended family Thanksgiving dinner.

And another hehe, already warned little one a 7 am get going that Black Friday. She said 9 instead. We will see, hoping earlier than later that morning. Though most of our shopping may be online, as it was last year.

So, a Wonderful Wednesday to all is wished today. And hope Charade had her plumbing issue fixed on Monday.

Good morning. I got to sleep in a bit today. Dh is having an MRI today to see if there is anything specific causing his back pain. He's been given some kind of medication, so I need to be the designated driver.

We didn't hear back from the plumber until Monday morning. In the meantime dh was impatient and decided to ask our neighborhood chat group if anyone could recommend a plumber. It turns out that one of our newer neighbors is a licensed plumber. We also decided to take this opportunity to replace the toilet with a new, taller one. The neighbor replaced the toilet for less than what most other plumbers would charge just to set foot in your door. Thankfully he didn't find any problems with the plumbing other than a damaged seal.

Lynne, you are a braver person than I. I will stay as far away from the Black Friday sales as I can. Several years ago I started a family Anti-Black Friday tradition. Some years it is something simple like going to the movies, or it could be an out of town trip like Busch Gardens. I haven't come up with a goof idea for this year yet.
