Something About Nothing............ #14

saw on youtube the Donkey Kong coaster is pretty jerky with the stopping and starting. I have been looking at rides and trying to figure what I can do because of my back and joint issues.
O, hadn’t heard that. Wah. Please report back as to the attractions you find that don’t work for your issues.

Spent last hour securing all the lawn furniture etc. it’s beautiful, 84 degrees and sunny, until it won’t be soon. Just say no to straight line winds that over last few years, more often than not, have turned into isolated funnel clouds in our area.

GD had track meet today, they cancelled all after school activities yesterday in anticipation of the storm. Trying the pooch on new chew vs gummies (had issues with the texture after opening pkg within a couple of months?) for his storm anxiety.

Have dinner almost ready in anticipation of power outages. Of course the augratin potatoes are taking nearly double the time to properly cook. They just aren’t my balliwick lol, taste good enough, never have the right look tho.

We are among the few with power here. No fatalities at least! No estimate on restoration 2 DS will probably lose contents of freezers as I had no spare room after stocking up last week

Around our house, many trees fell this one just 50 ft on edge of woods

Interesting that just a few came up with roots, majority snapped off

Good morning everyone :wave2:

Janet hope the storms were not to bad yesterday.

Charade hope you enjoyed the concert last night.

Not much going on here this morning. I did get my closet cleaned and organized and have 4 bags for donation. I will drop those things off this morning when they open.

I’am picking little J up from school this afternoon. Looking forward to seeing my little buddy. Not sure what we will get up to. Will let him decide on what he would like to do.

Have a few errands to run after I drop off the donations this morning.

Have a wonderful Wenesday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

Sorry to hear that with food being so expensive. That is a costly loss.

Wow……I was wondering how you all faired after the storm. Looks like a lot of damage. So glad to hear no one was hurt.

Thanks It was quick but, impactful.

Makes you ponder how quickly things can change

I’am picking little J up from school this afternoon.
Is he feeling a bit better with the allergies?

DH & two of my DS are still having seasonal allergy issues Seems to be taking longer this year to pass for them

Ah yes, medicated is older one. Had to wash off the pollen on my car windshield yesterday morning. He did mow the grass, so a sniff of medication and a shower is his reward. Also sprayed the heck out of the wasp’s nest starting next to our door. Seems like we do that spraying area every year. I keep bug spray in the closet next to the door.

Ack, to those winds, Keisha. And sad to hear no power for your DSs. Emptying out refrigerators and freezers time. Not fun at all. Been there.

Robo, nice to donate no longer needed items. And yay, for getting to pick up little J, for some after school fun time with you.

Safe travels to Charade in that crack of dawn flight start tomorrow. Enjoy that FLA heat, and have a blast enjoying the new park.

DJ, thanks for sharing the park info.

Most perfect is today, as glorious sunshine and almost warm enough you’d think it was late in May today. Shorts are now in the rotation. Though we will pay for this nice stretch of warmer weather Cool front arriving at the end of this week, with 78 the high temp today, and 60 the high to start next week day, on Monday. Rain chances Friday through this coming Wednesday. Those April showers continue through the first full week in May. Grass and all our plants are now growing happily.

Ooh, who do I see today?

IMG_4243.jpeg

Woohoo is right camel. It’s a Wednesday today, indeed. Close enough to the weekend, I’m starting to see it. But very glad we are at the mid week already, and very glad to be enjoying a three day weekend to end this week.

Woot for all of us getting over this hump of a day feeling, this Wednesday, the last one of April this year, and the second day of May is Friday, then a day away.

Most Wonderful Wednesday to all, today.

Hello everyone. I am briefly back home before leaving again in less than 12 hours. Anyone want to come to my pity party? There will be lots of whine.
Yesterday morning I woke up at 4:00 and had trouble getting back to sleep. After work I drove 2.5 hours to my hotel and then the concert. I woke up at 4:00 again this morning, but managed to get back to sleep until 7:30. Drove 2.5 hours back to the office and worked a short shift. Late this afternoon my stomach started feeling iffy. Just what I need just before a trip. When I got home I decided to take a short nap, but first I had to clean the living room floor. Someone had knocked over a water bottle (the one we threaten the cat with when he misbehaves) and the water had run under the sofa. Stretched out on my recliner, turned on some 80’s videos, and heard the cat vomit. Cleaned that up, sat back down, and he threw up again. (He’s fine.) Got that cleaned up too. I don’t really have tome for the nap now. I still need to pack and pay some bills before I leave.
I hope my stomach feels better in a few hours.

Yikes! I am glad you are okay and didn’t get any damage or lose power.

Charade hope you enjoyed the concert last night.
The concert was a lot of fun and I got to meet Mickey but it was very brief. I’m still a little surprised that he is still performing at 80.

Thanks Lynne. I am not looking forward to the heat and humidity. I’m glad I am going alone. I can move at my own (slow) pace.

I guess I should start packing now.
I’ve been watching 80’s videos. Does anyone else think that Lionel Ritchie’s “Hello” video seems a bit creepy now?

There's a lot of older music, movies and TV that seem creepy now.

Yes, thank you for asking. He still has little cough. The Pollen around here is really bad this year.

DH & two of my DS are still having seasonal allergy issues Seems to be taking longer this year to pass for them
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully things will lay down as far as the allergens and they can get some relief soon.

Robo, nice to donate no longer needed items. And yay, for getting to pick up little J, for some after school fun time with you.
It feels good to clean the closet out for sure. I have some more areas to go through and sort to donate.

Little J and I had a fun time at the Mall. He is so cute.

The concert was a lot of fun and I got to meet Mickey but it was very brief. I’m still a little surprised that he is still performing at 80.
Sounds like you had a nice time. Glad to see Mickey is still feeling well enough at 80 to perform.

Down to 1 DS with no power Still over 300,000 homes here without it
Hopefully your son will get his power back soon.

That would be a horrible way to die. So sad.

Up early this morning. Grandson E is coming in from Kentucky this morning. He and hubby have some plans for an outing today. He is going to spend a couple of days with us. Always look forward to spending time with our grandchildren.

I have a spa day scheduled first part of the day. Pedicure, hair and massage. Looking forward to getting a little pampered.

Need to get scootin.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

Happy Saturday! Seems like most have checked in, haven’t seen Mac post in a bit…may have to send out the hounds

The Pollen around here is really bad this year.
Only good thing about all the rain here is it’s washing the pollen off our cars daily.
Hopefully your son will get his power back soon.
He finally was restored…4 days later. Still so many here without

From social media just now

What’s ironic is they are posting updates on FB that the Calvary is on the way. How exactly are people supposed to read it without power or internet? The power company shut down their phone lines due to being overwhelmed by calls from customers.

Small comfort at this point for so most. We are talking a large metro area that initially had over 500,000 homes without power, not a rural/isolated area. Seems as tho they were really unprepared for this sort of event. SMH

There have been some heartbreaking stories about the immobile elderly trapped in senior citizen high rises. Thankfully, the local resident’s stepped in to make sure they had food & water as no elevator service.

Majority without power don’t have internet or cell phone service. Wasn’t able to connect this week to make a call when I had to go into another county, no service. Not going to lie, my heart skipped a couple of beats this AM when we repeatedly lost power & internet off & on for hours. Seems ok now. Phew
Up early this morning. Grandson E is coming in from Kentucky this morning
He’s missing the local fun there! :)

I’ve got my hat ready to watch the race IMG_7272.jpeg
How’d you like to be lined up behind that woman? Lol

And my crying towel close by after I watch my $ evaporate after 2 minutes lol. Just for fun, only bet the big three & small just to make it interesting. Was a win to see I actually had a whopping $20 in the account I use, didn’t realize I won on one last year.

I’d think so as long as not during height of spring break
You are right. We will probably go the first week of May, so hopefully spring break will be over?
Probably. Did you know it will be in our city, Pittsburgh next year?
No I didn't know that!. Of course you are a Steeler fan? When my son was young, he was a Big fan of the Steelers and had clothes and even lamps with the Steelers logo. I am a lukewarm fan of the Vikings just because I live here, but am always disappointed in them each year.......
Had my own appt with my regular pulmonologist today. He is thrilled with my progress, said should be back up to speed later this year.
So glad to hear that your appointment went well!
Hmmph, I don’t want to be a reasonable adult in the parks
LOL, that is such a true statement. But I know you will take it a little easy anyway, even though that's not as much fun:)
I’am going to get in my closet today and do a little Spring shuffle of clothes and shoes. Then will bag things up for donation.
That sounds good. I love cleaning out old clothes. I did my clothes switch a couple of weeks ago and got rid of 2 bags of clothing. It feels good to do that.
Around our house, many trees fell this one just 50 ft on edge of woods
What a scary picture. I'm glad you were missed, but I know how scary that is to see the trees falling all around you. One year, we had multiple trees fall around our house. Luckily only one hit our garage, but it was a major cleanup. I hope your SIL gets his power back on soon.
Had to wash off the pollen on my car windshield yesterday morning.
That darn pollen!!! It hasn't started here yet, but it's coming. It's always bad because we have many pine trees in our property. Every day we have to wipe down the lawn furniture. Thankfully our car is in the garage, but husband's truck is outside. Soon after that the mosquitoes will start. We get about 2 weeks without pollen and mosquitoes.! Spring is so fun, lol.
He finally was restored…4 days later. Still so many here without
OH, so glad to see that his electricity was restored. I hope by now your area is back on the electrical grid and getting back to normal.

Hi to Charade: I've been following her trip online, but I think by now she is on her way back home?? or home already. It looked like a fun but short trip:)

I haven't seen Pumpkin post lately so a shout out to her! I'm no one to talk because I seem to hit the posts once a week................

I've been following Carole online and am enjoying her reports on the New Epic Universe. Can't wait to go there, but that will be next Spring for us.

Today is Finally warm! It's getting up to 80 today (I'll believe it when I see it, lol), and is sunny and beautiful outside. I have sheets hanging out and am a happy girl:) I've been busy this AM making iced tea and a brownie for dessert this evening, with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on it:)
We are having my Mom over for supper today and I'm fixing fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and the brownie for dessert! I am hit or miss on frying chicken. Sometimes I don't get it done enough, but hoping for the best!
Yesterday I found a recipe for a chicken casserole which sounded really good. I made it and it was awful!!! I couldn't eat it. Roger kept trying and saying it wasn't too bad, but he finally gave up and threw it away!!! We consoled ourselves with big dishes of ice cream: vanilla for me and butter pecan for him. And I hope today's meal is better:)

Hope everyone continues to have a good weekend and week.

Busy day so far for us. Attacked our online voting packages, never heard of half the candidates in our town for school board. Looked them up on facebook. Shocked, you’d think some of them would’ve at least scrubbed their profiles for their more aggressive political comments - yikes!

Then, the pooch was overdue for his shots. Makes me nervous since all the critters in the woods. Went to a place in next town, had to enter thru an alley for the drive thru service in their parking lot. Right across from them, look what the storm did! It blew the new roof right off a cement block warehouse. Nobody hurt thankfully there, several cars and a boat squished. Yes, it is still raining here, time to start building the ark

IMG_7302.jpeg

Of course you are a Steeler fan?
In my DNA, at the risk of really dating myself, had one of my first crushes on Terry Bradshaw. Let’s just say he hasn’t aged like a fine wine lol
So glad to hear that your appointment went well!
Thanks :) me too!
Luckily only one hit our garage, but it was a major cleanup
Oh my gosh, that’s wild.
I haven't seen Pumpkin post lately so a shout out to her! I'm no one to talk because I seem to hit the posts once a week................
Lol I’m starting to think she may have hunkered down on that Mexican beach!
I've been following Carole online and am enjoying her reports on the New Epic Universe. Can't wait to go there, but that will be next Spring for us.
Will come around soon! She & Tom really do travel well :)
We are having my Mom over for supper today and I'm fixing fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and the brownie for dessert! I am hit or miss on frying chicken. Sometimes I don't get it done enough,
That sounds so good, I’m sure your Mom will love the company and the food. Fried chicken and potatoes au gratin are two dishes that I’ve tried to conquer for decades…hope springs eternal.

Just the two of us here this weekend. My two oldest had a football game in Denver, the team took a bus. I’d have quit on the spot as soon as I heard that vs flying. We used a GC to Red Lobster, was so much better! Quite the deal for $43 if you ask me for perfectly cooked lobster.

IMG_7256.jpeg

Thinking on looking in the envelope that holds all the GC we have to see if anything strikes our fancy for dinner today. Made pork chops & a beef roast yesterday. Leftovers will hold until tomorrow.

Have a great weekend all :)
