Something About Nothing............ #14

It was way too cold for me this morning - below freezing. I shouldn’t complain too much. At least I don’t have snow.

I feel much better today than I did on Wednesday. I guess it was something I ate. I think the headache was from dehydration.

Today is not an exciting day. I got up early and took my car to the mechanic for its annual inspection. Then I went home, started laundry, and started wrapping presents. I don’t immediately put the presents under the tree because of the cat. I tried to think of a safe place to put them then remembered that I still haven’t put away my suitcase from my last trip. All the gifts but one are safely stored in there now. This is the one thing that won’t fit in the suitcase. I stitched it for B earlier this year.

Charade, I believe I might top your husband out on the teeth saga.
Not that I want to win the prize on who has the worst teeth or less teeth.

I have zero bottom teeth on the right side and canceled future plans for anymore work to be done.
Have too much bone loss at this point to enjoy steak.

My food/meals all are boring dinners now.
I have a limited diet now since my molars were pulled out.
Oh yikes. Sorry, but you do win. I think dh is on his 15th crown. I have been extremely fortunate with dental issues.

quick hello from what was chilly FL, still better than frigid temps & snow @ home it will bounce back to 75 today, 80 bu weekend whoohoo
I would love to be there right now.

one of few choc cakes I will eat
Looks heavenly.

Sigh. Older one feeling better, enough he went in. Me? Started with a sore throat the other day, and have now went through a box of tissues. Negative test, but I’m sure I caught whatever this cold type is, from somewhere else. Been taking drugs, so hope I’m also on the mend soon.
Hope it’s not too serious and you are feeling better soon.

Then a Christmas movie
We need to start watching some too. Our favorites are White Christmas and Muppet Christmas Carol.

don`t think I ever tried cheese whiz either? Not sure I`d like it, but you never know!
I would be surprised if you liked it.

We got the treadmill delivered yesterday evening and hubby has already used it and likes it.
Glad he likes it. I would love to have one but have no place to put it.

I made Cranberry orange cookies, Cherry cookies with lemon drizzle, Pecan Tassies, Preserve thumbprint cookies with vanilla drizzle , Peanut butter buddy bars and Peanut butter cookies.
Yum! I want to go to your house for Christmas.

Setting up for a yard sale tomorrow.
You are brave.

I am off to check on laundry and see where I can put B’s picture.

It' the TGIF dance :cheer2: I am very glad it's Friday.

We do have a busy weekend planned. Tonight is dragging all the decorations up, moving some furniture around and bringing the tree in to defrost.

Tomorrow morning is up early for some shopping, then home to decorate the tree after gd has gymnastics, then dh's work is having their Xmas party. Sunday will probably be some shopping again and I'm not sure what else. Hopefully fit in a batch or two of cookies for my Xmas trays I give away.

I am thinking I'll whip up a chicken pot pie for dinner with some left over roast chicken from earlier this week. It should be easy enough to whip up, then put a salad with it...and voila dinner! I just don't feel like ordering in pizza. Or Maybe stop and pick up some things for tacos as well....and have taco bowls. That might be an idea too :rolleyes1 or some sloppy joes on garlic bread. Heck that's alot of ideas lol

I wasn`t sure about this guy to begin with but really like him now and he is very sensitive to how nervous I am and him and his dental nurse are wonderful really.
The PTSD is very true. I have NUMEROUS stories from my childhood. I also had 2 sets of some of my permanent teeth. My parents took me to a specialist in the city as a small child. I remember him already being an ancient old man who expected children to not cry or be upset about procedures and DEFIITELY didn't let parents into the room with the child.

My treat was always getting to have McDonald's after my appointments. One time when they were extracting a couple of those permanent teeth so the other ones could move down like they should - they used soooooooooo much freezing, I couldn't even open my mouth to eat my prized cheese burger. I couldn't open my mouth without pain shooting up my face.

I have come to find out that I have a super sensitive palate and having freezing injected is extremely painful for me.

When people ask me why I have such PTSD I tell them a few stories...and then they start to understand.
our village had it`s Christmas light switch on tonight with some fun things planned, everyone including Father Christmas
That sounds absolutely delightful. I picture a Norman Rockwell painting when thinking about that! Will they reschedule it for another night?
I made Cranberry orange cookies, Cherry cookies with lemon drizzle, Pecan Tassies, Preserve thumbprint cookies with vanilla drizzle , Peanut butter buddy bars and Peanut butter cookies.
It is great to hear that your dh is loving and using the treadmill already! I hope your procedure went well today. Those cookies look delicious!

Well, we have pulled out all the Xmas decorations for the unit. So we will be in holiday decorating mode today ::yes:: I think it's a great way to end our week!

Have a great day everyone!

As long as I don't get detention.
Setting up for a yard sale tomorrow. Brought everything down from the attic and clearing out closets.
Prayers 🙏 🙏 🙏 for everyone.

Good luck with the yard sale DJ, it`s a good way to get rid of stuff. Yard sales aren`t really a thing over here but village halls sometimes do Tabletop sales where you take everything along within reasonable size of course. It`s nice to have a clearout and help charities along the way too.

Glad you`re doing better Charade, and yes, being too cold is miserable.

She will love that, it looks really good!

White Christmas is the second last movie we watch usually on the same afternoon as my favourite 1951 Christmas Carol movie and yes, love the Muppet one too, it`s on our list of DVD`s every year.

You have a busy weekend ahead!! But a lot of fun stuff too!! I did laugh at defrosting the tree....that`s not an expression you hear every day!!!

I hear you Pumpkin on the trauma, it is a very real thing and some folks find it funny, but I think most people understand somewhat. And yes, like you, once I elaborate on several experiences since I was a child with almost every dentist up till the last two, they get why it`s such an awful thing to go through.

Oh they went ahead with everything, there is a video of our local brass band all dressed as santa`s coming into the village playing their instruments in the pouring rain, but so many smiles all round. The rain did go off as the real santa appeared, so it wasn`t as bad as it could have been and this is the best village tree we`ve had, it is lovely.

Heading out soon to Kyle`s, helping with some Christmas stuff. I`m trying to convince him to get another tree for his balcony, it`s big enough to take one, I got the " no mum" look lol.....some basic outdoor lights would look good though!

We have eaten dinner, not a lot and very light, didn`t have steaks after all, just made some mini quiches with bacon and leek and made up some coleslaw, will keep the steaks for tomorrow night as we are now staying in due to weather forecast.

Always love a Friday evening!!!

Well they weren`t kidding when they said we were getting a storm, although why we have to name them now I have no clue. Winter weather works for most people.

It was wild during the night, not long after we got back from Kyle`s the wind and rain began, but woke up this morning to not very much. However as the morning has gone on it has got steadily worse, right now we have 55mph winds and rain is just bouncing down relentlessly!! Ideal day to stay cosy and warm inside and watch some movies eating snacks and some nice drinks.

Had our poached eggs with bacon and french toast this morning, snacky items for lunch including a cheese plate I made up, and dinner tonight are those gorgeous steaks, won`t be cooking them outside tonight! Right now we can barely see outside with the rain and wind. So we have all the christmas tree lights on and some lamps around the house on as it is quite dark, looks lovely though, I think they`ll be on all day into tonight.

Black and white movies this afternoon, bit of Bob Hope then we want to watch Trading Places again, the rest of the movies will follow next couple of weeks till Christmas.

Time for lunch and more tea, something a bit stronger this afternoon though!!

Hope Janet is still having a wonderful trip....hint hint....we need some pics 😁and hope Ruth has a lovely visit this weekend to see the new baby in the family, always special!!!!

Have a lovely Saturday 🎄🎄🎄

One of my favorite memories as a child was cheese and baguette or pastry for lunch.
Many years later I'm back to it.
Hope your weather clears up soon.

Please keep us posted on how tomorrow works out for you.

We care about you.
Thank you Mac.

Glad your husband is getting use of the treadmill, it will do him no end of good.
He is really enjoying it. Taking it slow.

Best wishes for today, hope it goes well for you and not too uncomfortable and you have the rest of the day to recover, I do prefer an earlier appointment in the day.
Thank you Carole. Yes, having procedures early in the am are the best. Hope your MRI went well.

As long as I don't get detention.

now. This is the one thing that won’t fit in the suitcase. I stitched it for B earlier this year.
Nice Spider-Man needle work. I’am sure B will love it.

Glad he likes it. I would love to have one but have no place to put it.
He is enjoying it so far. Our master bedroom and bathroom take up one whole wing of our house. So it is a pretty big space. We had plenty of room for the treadmill thankfully.

Yum! I want to go to your house for Christmas.
You would be welcome as would all the Sans family. There are always plenty of cookies to share.

That sounds awful. Thankfully a lot of those old Dentist are long retired.

All went well thank you Pumpkin.

You will enjoy all your hard effort of decorating when you turn your tree lights on for sure. It just brings the Christmas Joy into the house.

WOW……sounds like some dedicated musicians wanting to spread some Christmas cheer how nice of them.

Does sound like a wild and wooley night Carole.

Staying in the warm house with all the Christmas lights on and enjoying some movies is a perfect winter day for sure.Enjoy.

Ruth enjoy your time with your sweet great-grandbaby today.

Janet eat some chocolate cake for me.

Mac hope you are feeling better after your procedure.

Did not sleep much Thursday night was not afraid of my procedure. Woke up with a headache at 1:30 am and took some meds and just stayed up as granddaughter was going to be here at 5:45 am.

We had to be at the hospital at 6:15 am. Procedure was at 7:30 am. The Nurse finally got my IV in and not long after I was off. The Nurse anesthetist gave me the milk of amnesia (propofol) in my IV and off to sleep I went. Doc told me he noted some problem areas and they were stretched as the muscles have tightened in those areas.

My granddaughter was so sweet. I was so glad to have her there.

After I got home I slept most of the day. Think the propofol and lack of sleep helped that along. Headache was gone so sleep I did.

Today I used the rest of the of the cookie dough I had in the refrigerator for the Pecan Tassies.

IMG_4693.jpeg

I made a few Christmas bracelets and earrings.
IMG_4688.jpeg

IMG_4690.jpeg

And a Cat charm necklace for my Niece for one of her Christmas presents. She has a cat.
IMG_4692.jpeg

Need to get up to my office and wrap a few more gifts.

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone.

Isn`t it a lovely memory thinking of childhood food!!!

I don`t think we had baguettes as kids, but cheese and tomato sandwiches were a staple for lunches in school holidays. Now I tend to eat cheese only as part of a cheeseboard, or Brie in a grilled sandwich. But, it is nice to go back to childhood food, I know when we visit my mum she often produces lovely treats from way back.

lol.....we have 60 mph winds now, I think it`s to be like this till tomorrow night around 10pm.

I`m sure your weather is much nicer. And hope your yard sale went well.

The brass band perform in all weathers, from Armistice Day, Easter Parades, Christmas to anything in between, they are a class act. It was a big success in the end which was good to hear.

MRI didn`t go so well, but not for the reasons one would think......Yep, that`s a very long and boring story, awaiting another appointment at some point.

Glad you got plenty of rest after your appointment, it does take a lot out of you. And yes, it is always good having family or friends with you for such events.

And yes, those darn treadmills take a lot of room, whe Kyle needed one years ago after back surgery, we put it in the other half of the study, more things were added over the years and it was like a mini gym at one point. We eventually moved it all to one of the spare bedrooms and I got my study back.

Hope you had a lovely relaxing day, yes, cosy afternoons watching movies is priceless.

Well weather is still wild as can be. So many roads closed around us and flooding is all over the place. I hope Kyle made it to and from his two running clubs Christmas parties today, we haven`t heard from him so I assume all is well.

The roads from his place to ours seems ok so he should make it over for lunch and the GP tomorrow.

Cannot believe how wild it is out there, mid afternoon I had dropped off watching The Cat and the Canary, my phone went and friends said they were at the gate, so in they came and they had brought oysters!!!! Always lovely to see them, but moreso when they bring treats!!

So, headed through to the kitchen and three of us indulged in three dozen of them while Tom pretended to watch the wild and woolly weather outside!!! He hates oysters! I always have lemons and Tabasco, so we devoured them with relish!!! They each had some wine, he only had half a glass as he was driving and we facetimed our friends in Orlando right now, it`s cold for them!!! They`re supposed to be doing the Luau at RP tonight, but if it`s cold they`ll pass.

After they left, we did indeed enjoy our steaks, some nice wine and more Christmas movies tonight, thankfully up here we weren`t affected by the power outages in our village and some surrounding villages, got the regular candles ready just in case.

Not long till bedtime, will be fun listening to the wind and rain howling around us as we drop off, might pop the tv on for a while up there.

I have shin of beef marinading overnight and will pop them in the slow cooker in the morning for tomorrow evening`s dinner, I`m organised at least.

Need to empty the dishwasher, forgot earlier, then bed I think.

Hope your Saturday has been a good one!

Target run. Check.
Marshall’s run. Check.
Chinese for dinner. Check.
Colder weather, but a glorious dark pink and deep yellow colored sky sunset. Check.

Such a nice Saturday we have had.

Tomorrow, a bit warmer, and partly sunny. Chance of seeing some cold feeling rain on Monday, as high 10 degrees lower than tomorrow. But at least still almost 10 degrees warmer than today. Weird weather this coming week. 59 high, with a 39 degrees the high the day after that warmer Wednesday. Though the best chance of a rainy day is our Wednesday. Camel better find rain gear this week.

But yay,

Wow, that is crazy. Definitely a stay inside kind of day.

Similar to our weather. It’s supposed to be warmer for the next few days but rainy Monday-Wednesday.

I had a bit of a disappointing day today. I drove an hour to Roanoke to go to a craft show hoping to find a gift for a friend. Unfortunately nothing caught my attention. I decided to go to the mall since I had several birthday coupons for different stores. I struck out there too. Just couldn’t find anything I liked.

On the way home I was driving on a divided highway when I saw in the distance, coming towards me, a fire truck with lights flashing. It didn’t appear to be going very fast though. When I got close to it I saw Santa standing in a sleigh on top of the fire truck. He was waving to all the people in the cars passing by.

I was almost home when out of the blue my neck started hurting. I took some pain medication when I got home and rubbed Icy Hot on my neck. It feels better now, but it was so weird how it came on so suddenly. I discovered that Caspian likes the scent of Icy Hot. Weird cat.

Later this month I am scheduled for a sleep study so I can get a new CPAP. Mine is 10 years old. This appeared in my Facebook feed today.

I though we were going to watch Christmas movies tonight, but dh is searching for college football games.

Oh goodness I could not imagine doing that kind of thing, it must be hard to fall asleep to begin with. Do you have to do a sleep study every time you get a new one of those machines? Although once every 10 years isn`t bad, but still! Yep, nice meme, a bit like when the dentists says, just relax now as you know he has a huge needle hiding behind his back lol.....

Yes, it has been wild, easing a little now, down to just under 50mph. No damage to us thankfully, it`s amazing we worried more about the new roof last night than we ever worried about the original one that was ancient!!

Shame about shopping, it`s annoying when you go specifically looking for things and get nothing.

Yep, another wild night, we heard hailstones through that awful wind during the night, but this morning the rain seems to have eased some, but still bad. I looked on our village online notebook, lots of damage around but no loss of life here which is all that matters.

Lots of Christmas markets and events cancelled for today, most can be rescheduled hopefully.

Kyle made both his parties yesterday, I resisted txting him to check he was home safely after midnight last night lol.....I did want to though, but he sent a txt this morning saying he would get here around 11am, he`ll have lunch here then watch the GP then he has plans for tonight, the winds should be gone by around 5pm hopefully.

So, got my beef in the slow cooker and did some housework all before sleeping beauty got up, I think I disturbed him walking through our bedroom when I was heading for the shower, but he made me poached eggs, I made the toast and of course our morning pot of tea, beautiful breakfast. Lunch will be around 12.30 in time for the race to start.

Home made chicken noodle soup, can`t beat it, so we`ll have a cup of that and I`ll make us grilled sandwiches. Kyle does love his mum`s home made soup. But, a few housework things to do now and then F1 this afternoon, last race of the season. But, a day at home again which is lovely.

Second pot of tea coming up!!

Have a very lovely Sunday :)

Do you have to do a sleep study every time you get a new one of those machines?
I’m not really sure since this will only be my second machine. I think my insurance company requires a new study every 5 years. When I first got the CPAP I was in denial and fell out of compliance so my insurance company stopped paying for my supplies. I’m doing the new study so I will have insurance coverage again. My first sleep study was a home study and very easy to do. I don’t know why they are requiring a facility study this time.

I took a pass due to the cold weather and watched church service on line this morning.

I don’t leave the house when the temps drop.

Been watching the football games once they started this afternoon.

Not my favorite teams but the games have been decent.

Going to be a pizza and chicken wings night for us.

Charade, that’s good news your insurance will cover your CPAP.

Who has plans to hit the parks this week?
I wish. Stuff keeps piling up.
Got 4 free SW tickets and some UO cash to burn before January or lose them. Everybody has to have stuff done this time of year and it turns into a late rush. More money and less time that can't be bought back.

Anybody ever want to throw your phone under a lawnmower?

I’m not really sure since this will only be my second machine. I think my insurance company requires a new study every 5 years. When I first got the CPAP I was in denial and fell out of compliance so my insurance company stopped paying for my supplies. I’m doing the new study so I will have insurance coverage again. My first sleep study was a home study and very easy to do. I don’t know why they are requiring a facility study this time.

Ah I see, makes sense. Well, hope it goes well when you do it, it certainly doesn`t sound fun but worth it to get insurance.

Glad you missed church, pizza and chicken wings sound good.

LOVE the pictures!!!! And love your outfits, it all looks like so much fun. Glad you`re having a lovely trip and hope the cruise today is just amazing, it sounds as though it will be incredible.

Hope to see some cruise pics too....no pressure though :wave2:

Lovely evening last night and the winds did die down a lot by the time we went to bed, 22mph is a lot better than it has been, but thankfully no damage anywhere for us. Today is milder and breezy but quite pleasant.

We met some friends in a tea shop this morning, we were all going to be down at one of our retail parks, so we arranged to meet up for morning tea/coffee after we had shopped. We knew we were going to be there early, hate Christmas crowds and we did miss most of them as the line of cars waiting to get in at 10am was crazy!!!

Went to the tea shop and it was very nice, we all had toasted scones and tea of course and they were giving all guests a complimentary sweet mince pie which we all devoured, all home baked in this place. So, nice to catch up with them as we don`t see them often enough.

Croissants with chicken noodle soup for lunch, then going out to dinner with some other friends tonight, so a no cook night again.

Got some new high heels to wear......wish me luck!!!

Have a lovely Monday!!

Rainy days to start this week day routine. Umbrella in car will be used these next two days. Glad to enjoy a little more sleep this morning.

Marvelous Monday to all.

Just think, in two more weeks, and we will be saying it’s Monday before Christmas Wednesday week. Woot!

And great to see all the holiday fun pics from Keisha.
