Something About Nothing............ #14

It's another incredibly mild morning here again! It was a slight sprinkle of rain just as I was coming into the building for work. I could almost cry with gratitude with the mild weather. So I appreciate each and every day that we get of this weather.

The migraine is gone - and the migraine hangover is slowly disappearing. Thank you for all the good wishes.

It was a quiet night last night. It was " fend for yourself night" and everyone found something to eat. I had a turkey sandwich on the last of my homemade bread. Tonight, I will be whipping up more - using the discard from my sourdough starter. One of these days - I might actually make an actual sourdough and let it naturally rise. But for now - I'll just keep making sandwich bread.

I'm thinking spaghetti and meatballs with my homemade sauce for dinner tonight. Tomorrow I'll plan to use the grill again - and take advantage of the mild weather while it's here. I want to see how good it is! And hopefully gym time tonight! MY migraine hangover should be gone by then

I hope you get better quickly. Sending lots of healing mummy dust!

OOOOO exciting!!!!!!!

I agree! We have had amazing northern light shows the past few nights. The mild weather and changes in pressure have been quite big - which explains the migraines for me. It is very common for people around here to suffer from the drastic atmospheric changes.

:rotfl: I am a heavy packer as well. Even when we did carry-on to Vegas - dh was impressed with how much I was able to pack!

You gotta have variety when picking out what your wearing. I can pack very few shorts/skirts - but tops and dresses...I need plenty of choices!!!!! The men can say what they want - but I will continue to pack like I do!!!!!

That's great!!!! I've been thinking about pulling out some of them and getting started. Just so that I can enjoy them a little bit longer.

Well, I should go shuffle more papers around. I'm at homecare tomorrow and Thursday and I took Friday off to use up some vacation time.

I am going to have to find things to do today to keep busy - I've got most things all caught up already.

Have a great day everyone!

Glad you`re better Pumpkin, migraine`s are miserable and yes, the atmosphere can affect us so much, it changes so easily, quite interesting to listen to the experts.

lol.....yes, I doubt I`ll be able to pack light.....I do like to have plenty of outfits and dresses to wear when we`re there. Hand luggage only is not for me!!!

And short week for you, do you the world of good to have some time off.

Well, sausages were just ok.....like so many they`ve changed their recipe, and probably cheaped out on some ingredients. We have plenty of other butchers and farms to buy from, but we will let him know they weren`t the usual standard. However, with a bit of spicy sauce they were better. Everything else was nice though.

Watching a show called Shetland tonight, very atmospheric indeed. House is cosy and warm, we always have low lighting and candles on at night, one of the things I love about winter nights.

Cake and syllabub all gone!

I`d love to see that when you`ve completed it, they are stunning to see. Although we did travel to Norway once to see them and they had a weird week of weather and we didn`t really see much of anything, but they are stunning.

Good luck to her whatever she ends up doing, I`m sure she`s keen to start her career.

If you ever need another injection like that Ruth, get them to numb the whole foot. My friend who passed, her husband is a surgeon and he gave me both cortisone injections and I never felt a thing as it was completely numb, he never believed anyone should be in that much pain.

I wear orthotics all the time and they make a big difference. No walking around barefoot, although I am guilty of that at times, but unless it`s a pair of strappy sandals that I maybe wear once in a millenium, I have them in every pair of shoes or boots that I own. They were specially made for me, not generic ones though.

He loves his mancave, but I think our gardener loves it more.....lol....Tom is very rarely in it, especially in the colder weather. The two of them brewed wine for a couple of years, but not anymore, I didn`t really touch it and his wife was complaining he was drinking it too often.....lol, so they gave it away to his brother who wanted a go.

Bonfire night and New Year are both the same, it goes on for night after night after night, as I said it doesn`t affect us as much as others, but I don`t like fireworks.

Yes, I grew up with F1, had a family member who was in it for years, not a driver sadly.....lol.....then when I met Tom, he was as big a fan as I was. Been to many races over the years mainy thanks to complimentary entrance to them all due to our relative who has now retired. It`s not been the same though over the last few years due to rule changes and regulations being altered. We still watch it though.

Your baking sounds lovely!!! We adore apple pie, and Tom and Kyle would love your brownies!!

Enjoy your massage tomorrow, folks don`t always understand how bad Fybromyalgia can be unless you experience it and enjoy your time with mum!! And you are a lovely addition to this thread!!!

Always think of Kenan and Kel with their mystery chilli when someone says dinner is a mystery....lol....takes me back a lot of years!! Glad you saved the tree!!!

Yep, that`s a good one actually.....the first job might not be what they want to do but it`s an incentive for a better one.

Hope you had something rather lovely for dinner!!

Such a lazy night tonight, we had a lovely meal together and dessert was demolished!!! Good to see though, although he said he`ll have to run 10 miles to even work off a morsel fo the cake he ate!! He`s so lean it won`t take him long!

I think tomorrow is our last sunny day this week, so we`ll head out in the morning maybe for a walk, but another early night for us, maybe after this episode. Detective show from Scotland called Shetland, tried to watch it years ago when it was first on but found it rather dreary and slow, but this time around it`s a bit better. But could not live up on Shetland for anything....so remote and always looks cold!

Yawning has commenced from both of us!!
Thanks, Carole, for the advice to numb the foot up before the shot. I don't know why my doctor didn't do that? It hurt like h___!!!! I think I will check into orthotics for my shoes. I can't go barefoot either and I wear a really comfortable pair of sandals in the house. It's almost like going barefoot but my PF doesn't bother me then.

The pies are about gone! and the brownies are about gone too, thanks to my grandson, Adam, who is a big eater. I can't believe the amount of food he consumes. We just took him to lunch today and I gave him 2/3's of my spaghetti and meatball dinner which he ate Plus his big spaghetti dinner!!! He is a firefighter and is in good shape:)
Fibromyalgia can be very mild to very disabling. So I understand the misconception of it. My fms is on the worse end of the spectrum and I have to take pain pills, do all my errands, cleaning, etc in the AM. I have to rest in the afternoon/evening to help ease the pain, and monthly massages. I know I will overdo it on our trip but it will be worth it. I can rest up and recuperate when I get home:) A little over 2 weeks for us now!

Quick Monday stop in!!!!

I started 2 posts on the weekend at work - got interrupted and then was busy the rest of those days!

It is an unbelievably beautiful day here today!!!! Which also would explain my headache today. I could handle winter if it was always like this!!!!! Our forecast is for beautiful weather for the next two weeks! I'll take all of it - and I think we could be in a heap of trouble in December/Jan for this....but I don't care!!!!

I think tonight will be quiet. No energy to go to the gym - take more meds and hopefully this headache/migraine goes away.

Well, have a great evening everyone!
Pumpkin, I had to laugh at your comment about being in a heap of trouble in December to pay for the good weather now. That's just what we say if we get a rare nice day in November. We just know we will pay for it in lots of snow and cold later on:) Hope you headache gets better.

I tend to wear a pair of what keisha and I laughingly call our "dressy" crocs. They have a small wedge heal which is advised with PF, never completely flat. I also stretch before I get out of bed in the morning and if I`m sitting I`ll stretch it out now and again, it does help. It is very painful when it flares up, so I do my best to avoid it happening again!

lol.....I`m always amazed at what young men eat....and usually stay very lean!!! And of course firefighters have to be fit as a fiddle! Kyle runs 3-4 times a week and they go hiking too, so as he works in an office, mostly at a desk he likes to stay fit. He looks great but when I see him I always want to feed him up......lol.....

It is very debilitating for sure and pain relief is a must have. Resting up and monthly massages will help, glad to hear it does for you.

Of course you`ll push a little more on your trip, but it`ll be so worth it, yes, you can rest when you get home!!

Amazes me how many commonalities are in this thread.
It only took me a decade to find it.
The night boot never worked for me for PF. I stretch a lot on curbs and doorways when I'm not at work. I'm on ladders all day at work and everything get a good stretch. I ripped the tendon off in a pothole during a 15 k and that foot has been dicey since.
Going to surprise DW with some weekday trips soon as her doctor prescribed more walking and I'm all about supporting her😊

Seems like the day has gone on for a week. Has been productive though. As usual, the time change is throwing me for a loop.

I’m behind in my emails, will catsup tomorrow

was able to upgrade our cabin on the end of the month cruise. Literally, took an hour of arm wrestling over the phone with RCCL to make the change Gratis, since the price dropped after my final payment date.

My oldest son and his wife have been married over ten years and expecting a baby by the end of the year.
It’s going to be a boy.
Not a clue on what name they have chosen yet but whatever it is, will love it.
That is a real blessing for your family!
obviously if folks don`t want spoilers.....don`t look at it. Tom likes to be surprised, but I enjoy seeing the progress. I
I’m somewhere in the middle there. try not to peek, usually can’t resist. Doing pretty well with the new park as to just having the basics down
After getting all the Halloween decorations were put away there was a minimalist vibe here too. Had to rectify that.
that decor style almost makes me a bit uneasy, as tho one is getting ready to move and has started to pack up the valuables.

Ruth I had custom Orthotics made for my feet many years ago. During this current go around with PF I had another set of custom Orthotics made for my shoes.
I told my Podiatrist after my foot broke/healed that custom orthotic didn’t feel right. She insisted it was fine. I’ve quit wearing them at this point.
I have all the Christmas decorations up
That is impressive!
We did buy a Christmas welcome mat for the front doors
I grabbed one today too. Figure I’ll recycle last year’s and use on another entrance door.

beautiful pic. Was going to ask if the weather changes triggered you re the migraines
My family really likes it. It is soft and chewy with that luscious icing on it. Eating it cold makes all the difference.
That sounds like it. No idea why my family turned up their collective noses at it, thot it tasty. Well, as much as chocolate brownies, cake are for me. I enjoy chocolate but, they are a bit overkill for my taste. Maybe if i had a normal sized portion that would help lol

It’s funny, the podiatrist practice I’ve gone to for decades is a husband & wife, now with a nephew too.

she is very gentle, always would numb the foot pre shot.

he, well, he’s very good but, rough (for lack of a better word). I started out with him. When his wife filled in one day for my appointment and she numbed my heel first, I was sold on her. She just laughed and said she hears that a lot.

I haven’t had any injections a few years as well over my limited for them. Was told needed to take a break or my “foot would turn to mush”. Don’t think it’s a medical term but, point taken.

now, just trying to ignore the arthritis in them and hope the tarsal tunnel doesn’t flare up. Thank God for KT tape To use when on feet for miles.

oooh, are we talking shoes :)? Say yes

dressy crocs rock. Not to be compared with the everyday versions. I still use the sandals when at pool/beach

once Birkenstock came out with EVA ones, switched over to them for around the house and comfy casual wear, as a bit more supportive than the crocs.

I wear their soft bed Arizona style too. My Dressy birks lol. admittedly, they are even uglier than crocs. Who knew they’d be embraced by folks during the pandemic and become difficult to find?

Bottom line, after a day in them, my feet feel pretty good. That’s all that counts IMO.

I’m semi obsessed with my Saucony ride 15s. First time I could wear athletics without the orthotic and do a 5K with little to no foot pain. I liked the Hoka Clifton 8s, not how the high foam footbed is designed to only last 130 miles. Ridiculous.

And just like that - the wind started to howl and it's :cold:

I ran home over lunch to whip up a quick sandwich ...brrrr it is chilly all of a sudden.

Wrap up warm Pumpkin!!

I owe two of you ladies an email too!!

Nice to have a productive day though and I said to Tom a few days ago, if anyone convinces me ever to try a nice fancy cruise, it`ll be you!! I showed him the link you sent me and his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree...lol......still a no for now though! Honestly.....blame The Poseidon Adventure!!

As long as shoes are comfy, they can be ugly as sin. The latest croc Patricia I bought are much narrower than the previous pair, I just wear them around the house now.

I wear basic trainers (tennis shoes) but with my orthotics but they sink into the foam padding after not very long, well, I`m not a light weight so I do change them often. But mentioning your trainers that only last so many miles, Kyle spends a fortune on running shoes of different types, he has trail shoes and some other pair for something else, but one pair that cost a small fortune only last about 300 miles! Crazy! I do like the look of your Hoka ones, haven`t seen Saucony ones here at all, I`m sure they must be somewhere though.

Yes, when P administered both my cortisone injections into the heel over a few years apart, he said no more and he used the term turn your bone to mush too. Not a good idea to have too many of them. Thankfully with the stretches and daily (almost daily) exercises it`s doing ok right now, touch wood!!! Last one was over 10 years ago now.

We have rain this morning again, it`s never far away from us. Usually on the East Coast we have less rain generally than the West where we come from originally which is known to be warmer and wetter, but jeez this year has had so much rain. Really should stay snuggled down, but when you`re awake......

Going to pick up a few dollars this morning, oh how we miss the days of $2 to £1....those were the days...07 to 09 roughly. But, it is what it is. Trying to find a face sunscreen that`s not an everyday one, it`s a La Roche-Posay brand, but trying to find it is not easy. Stores have plenty of their products, but not the light mist spray one I want......tried to order it online and for some reason the website won`t find it for me.....lol.....I`ll have a look in the store in town this morning if not I`ll try to order it online again. It`s lovely to use and you can put it on over make up too and it doesn`t cause make up to run.

No Wednesday lunch with friends today, I think they`ll be postponed now till after Christmas, we`re all away or just busy. Will pop up to the farm with the large lasagne I made for them last night, well Tom will and then not much today at all. Suitcases will come down on Saturday from the attics when all the Christmas stuff comes down.

Salmon for dinner tonight with some roasted veg, lunch will be something in a wrap, fancy some roast beef and toast with some home made marmalade, not home made by me, but home made all the same. Enjoying my first very lovely pot of tea for the day as always.

So, middle of the week again, umbrella will be used this morning again.

Happy Wednesday!!!

Aw, hello camel getting ready for the holidays coming up. And yep, here to wish all to enjoy this hump of a day feeling, so then Friday happiness is then a day away.

Have a wonderful Wednesday all. Cooler day, but clear skies until some clouds cover the afternoon skies.

Oh, Keisha, "dressy crocs" LOL. I can't imagine what they look like. I tried crocs once and they hurt my feet and haven't given them a try yet. My feet are weird and when I find something comfortable that fits I buy a few of them:)
I still wonder why my podiatrist didn't numb up the foot? He was such a nice guy, and good looking too, LOL (though that has nothing to do with it:)
I'm bringing 3 pairs of shoes with me for my 5 day vacation! If my feet hurt, I can switch out of them. I've never heard of Saucony shoes, but am always up to try something that might help!

This is the "dressy" croc we laugh about, however for PF they are excellent. Not for walking around the park, but I always have a pair bimbling about the house. However, as I said they now make them much narrower, I don`t have a broad foot, but they are small for me.

It is cold here now. Today was winter coat, scarf, hat and gloves. Although in town we passed several folks dressed for spring!!

Got everything done that we needed to do in town, dropped in on a couple of friends for a cuppa and she had made caramel danish pastries, cannot turn them down!! Passed an hour with them and came home and have been pottering about most of the day.

Very quiet afternoon though, got dark around 3.30, so lamps were on around the house before that. Winter is here.

Dinner was lovely, we do love our Scottish salmon.

Tired tonight, so will definitely be an early night for us.

Sometimes you need a carmel brûlée frappe just to soldier on the rest of the day

Saw this today, coming this spring :cloud9:

Of course it does, a perfect distraction
From the impending jab

My super power: I can rationalize nearly anything
However, as I said they now make them much narrower, I don`t have a broad foot, but they are small for me.

I toss them, brand new, into
A hot dryer with a couple of old towels for a minute at a time. The Idea being to soften them enough to stretch out on my feet for custom
Enlargement of width. Helpful as the broken one healed wider than the other :bitelip:

I don’t wear crocs because I have too narrow a foot. I usually buy nike sneakers as they tend to run narrow. Can’t wear most adidas sneakers as they seem to run wide to me. The rest of my family has almost wide feet, so they can wear much more than I can. Both my kids really like adidas sneakers. DH prefers his Army boot, those … kicking ones, desert colored.

Lynne I have had trouble for years for shoe shopping.
When I find shoes that I can wear, I buy two pairs.
I have a bunion on one foot that drives me nuts.

Eventually I will get the point where I will have work done on the foot.
Obviously, I am in no rush.

We have to wear running shoes in the parks. Good socks and a spare pair in the backpack. We walk from 15,000 to 30,000 steps a day on a park day.
Epcot festivals are the longest days, needed to walk off the extra calories.

I adore everything in Epcot, except the long lines to where I only move inches.
