Something About Nothing............ #14

Good Halloween morning everyone

Glad the PF is healing, that is so painful on it`s own never mind everything else you have with the foot! You`ll be dancing before you know it.....
Thank you Carole. I’am Looking forward to dancing just a little.

Thanks, I`m hearing differing reports on how painful it is afterwards, but whatever it is it I`ll deal with it, strong painkillers all the way if needed!
Sending you lots of healing prayers that you will be comfortable after the procedure. I’am sure the doc will give you pain meds to take care of you.

Hope you had a lovely time with the little guy today, always a joy to be around.
I had a wonderful time with little J yesterday. It was to cold for him to play outside so we went to the Mall play area and he had a blast.

The Halloween party went really well, kids were fantastic and they enjoyed lots of fun and games. One little guy came as Michael Myers, surprised us all with that one. Plenty of food and candy for everyone and they all left happy. They had plenty of helpers to tidy up so we left when all the kiddies and parents left. They very kindly gave the ones that baked and prepared food a gift voucher each, we weren`t looking for anything, but it was a very nice thought.
So good to hear the party for the children went well. I bet they were over the moon with all the goodies you all made for them.

Very nice gesture of them to remember your hard work with a gift certificate.

Absolutely, never got used to wearing mine. was told to hang onto it JIK, otherwise, I’d have happily burned it.
I had kept the one from a number of years ago and use that one for when I go out. Keeps from tracking in dirt. The newest one I keep for wearing in the house. Yes, tossing them is tempting. The Podiatrist said to hold onto them as if you have foot issues they will possible come to haunt you again.

Restless sleep is rough. I’ve been told I’m not a good Napper, as in I’m even grouchier when I wake up. Ergo, I avoid them at all costs
I usually don‘t have issue sleeping after a nap, but guess it was a combo of things perhaps. The funny thing is when I went to bed I was tired. Just could not fall asleep.

I did not want to take melatonin for just a couple hours sleep as I was caring for little J yesterday. I had to be on my game to do our building projects he likes to do.

eye dr appt went well, new guy seems very nice. Still find it odd that one sees both an ophthalmologist & optometrist (for different things) now that practice is owned by hospital system. glass script still the same & he was able to write a script for eye drops to help with minor issue I’ve been having. Sometimes change is good. Can’t believe i just said that.
Good to hear the eye appt went well.

They had a blast. The four girls were ghosts and th eother guy in his group wore a monster mask, Kyle wore his Michael Myers shirt and their story for running together was the girls were ghosts as they had been murdered by MM....lol....they looked really good. They loved the run too despite it being a little muddy after all the rain we`ve had. I`ll send you one of pictures he sent us last night.
Sounds like they had a great time. Good for them and costume ideas were well thought out.

Do believe my fav holiday season lol

Off to make a quick late breakfast & ten set up yard
Would like to see some photos of your yard set up for Halloween.

Had a fun time with little J yesterday. We went and picked up desserts for todays party. Then he had a fun time at the play area at the Mall.

I did start the set up for the party last night. Started on the table scape for the desserts. I will take photos once it is done.

I have all the candy in my big caldron for the Trick or Treaters. I need to start on the gift bags for the family that are coming to the party.

I’am making a big bubbling Cauldron of Chili and other goodies.

My niece said little J is coming as Bob the Minion. He loves the Minions and little Tim the bear. Not sure who it could be that is encouraging his love of the Minions???????

Have a wonderful Halloween everyone.

Got one more errand to run then we prep the drive and put up a table for candy and drinks.
Pee wees start just before dark and we wind down around 10.
Hope and prayers everything goes well for y'all.
Got a bunch of appointments coming up myself.
I would possibly have taken better care of myself had I known the consequences. Not.

Everyone in the neighborhood is out, cocktail hour about to start for a few of them. Had a dozen kids and it's not dark yet.
About 80 degrees and slight breeze.
My cardiologist ( who is a close friend)
told me " You're fat, you eat crap food and you need to be on prozac "
about a year ago. Lost some weight, eat a little better and got on Zoloft. Next time he saw me after a stress test ( You have the heart and EKG of a 30 yr old athlete "
I attribute it to loooong walks in parks and jumping to lots of conclusions.

Hope Carole doing fine!
I did not want to take melatonin for just a couple hours sleep as I was caring for little J yesterday. I had to be on my game to do our building projects he likes to do.
Smart move!

Since you asked🤗 I like how Jason is highlighted on the right in the fog in the graveyard scene. Went bit different and did sections this year. In background, you can see homage to Universal movies (ghostbusters, trick r treat & classic monsters) on far left. We also had a nightmare before Xmas & witches/ghouls area.

Hear not see…

A woman approaches ( no kids in tow) and asks how long we’ve been setting up displays. Had to think :scratchin30 years or so

She replies:

“next year I’ll bring my pictures of your yard to show you. Have them dating back to 2017, the year we moved up from central Florida”

Just told the mr to turn the security system back on :rolleyes1

Not sure if my butt or feet are colder. Will hit freezing tonight. At least no rain/snow showers during trick or treat. First time in years.

big turnout. Always start out with two big bowls of goodies. One has snack sized bags of pretzels & cheese puffs. The other, Reese’s cups. I count out 200 in each to help keep track. Had to refill In under an hour. Earliest ever lol

Oh my. I think more than a few cars parked and lots of kids came out. We usually get around a dozen. We got 31 this year. I ran out of my chocolate at 18, but did have extra of other treats. I guess next year, will buy that larger full size bar box at the big box store. Didn’t ever think we’d get that many. But was fun to see the costumes. And a few rain sprinkles here and there, and then a light rain later in the evening, after we had turned off our light, but was chilly feeling out when we waited for the kids.

Thanks Robbie.....yes, the Halloween party was wonderful. The ladies that volunteer to bake/cook for these village events never look for anything and honestly always feel guilty for taking the gift vouchers presented to us, well most of us do!! I know I`ll wait and discreetly donate it back to the church Christmas Fayre where they have a tombola every year, that`ll be a nice little prize along with the other donations.

Glad you had a nice time with the little guy and that he still loves minions. I saw little Elise last weekend (friends granddaughter) and asked if she wanted be to bring her back something Miniony from our trip and she informed me Minions are for babies now......she`s a very grown up almost 6 lol......

Doing much better thanks Janet.....

Loving your Halloween decorations, you put a lot of work into it and looks fabulous!!

But, creep alert!!! Holy moly.....can`t she just enjoy your display and move on!!! Sounds like she was trying to one up you there.....I know that feeling!!!! Yes, get those cameras on extra alert next year!!! There`s always one, but sounds like you had a lovely evening and kids would be delighted!!

My evening was a little bit different.

Dentist and his assistant were brilliant, it was a little bit daunting seeing them all gowned up as if it was surgery!! Tom sat in reception chatting to the receptionist so his time passed quickly. A 1 hour appointment and it wasn`t particularly fun, but it`s done.

On the way home we were going to go to a grocery store that has a pharmacy to get the 7 day antibiotic course, but we were into our journey when the numb wore off and I said nope, straight home. Got the strong pain relief going and thank goodness it eased off within half an hour. Fought going to sleep till I could take two more then went to bed and slept straight through till around 9am. No wonder it tells you these things are highly addictive and only take them for up to 3 days. Tom went for the prescription this morning so course started and thankfully I don`t need any pain relief this morning.

But, got to take it easy today (no hardship) so Tom will do everything while I lay along the sofa.....should have my tiara on really!! It`s miserable outside, cold and rainy so I`m happy to be housebound today and probably tomorrow being pampered.

November 1st though.......I can say we go to Orlando this month!!!!!

Have a wonderful Wednesday ☺️

Glad you are doing okay, Schumi.

Office gets our leftover, will be dropping it off next week. That gives family almost a week to eat whatever before it goes.

And not only the first day of November, as we are at that middle of the week feeling, and who do we see?
IMG_2538.jpeg

Ah camel in that Fall color coordinated wear. Yay, he’s here to remind all that as we get over this hump of a day Wednesday, that most fabulous Friday feeling will be a day away. Woot! Happily alert for me, lazy Friday to start this November. Yay!

Frost alert was issued this morning, and cool feeling. Let DH toss out the trash. 41 degrees said our outdoor thermometer. Ah, time to breakout the more winter looking clothes.

But until our time change this weekend, oh so dark out still. But weather guy said a mostly sunny day. Woot! Even with it cool, rocking those shades is still a happy sunny day.

Good Morning. Hehe, yep minions, being November today, means Christmas is next month.

IMG_2539.jpeg

Not like any candy would survive my lot. I give all my baked good away the day I make them so I don't have too many.
I unfortunately learned during covid that the serving size of a 48oz bad of reeces minis is exactly 48oz and at 60 there is no way to run and work that off as it goes on.

And just like that...it's November 1 :( I blinked again...and poof.

We didn't have many kids stop for candy. We probably had about 15 in total. We probably would have had more - but an RCMP who favors a great hiding spot in our neighborhood to catch speeding in the playground area - actually caught someone with no insurance. Of course - this is DIRECTLY in front of our home. So he pulled around the guy and put his lights on - until the tow truck came to tow the car away.

We had AMAZING weather this year for halloween. It wasn't even close to freezing last night. The snow we had is gone. If it will stay like this for a few more weeks - I will be HAPPY HAPPY girl.

We had about 15 kids in total. I give handfuls of candy. It's to keep them coming into our neighborhood! I had hot chocolate (with adult additives if they wanted :rolleyes1 ) to keep them warm. It's just one of those things to keep parents/kids coming to neighborhood.

The salsa turned out AMAZING!!! Next year I will add more jalapenos. It could definitely be hotter. But for a first attempt - it is pretty darn good. Monday on my other day off - I made red pasta sauce. It turned out pretty good too! Only one jar didn't want to seal. So that is in the fridge for me to use up - probably next week or on the weekend.

I keep hoping for one more win for him. He was at our football game last week. Someone said he
was in the parking lot talking to the tailgaters. I wish I had known.
We are still hoping for him. Sunday wasn't a great race to watch. It was pretty uneventful.
Ooh, that was a hot ticket! Jr saw two different winter classic games. Both times a heat wave cropped up as it’s wont to do here on NY for some reason, once they had to reschedule the game so ice would be safe lol
He was glad to do it once. Unless you have seats (at least for the Edmonton game) where you can see - it wasn't worth the money spent. He had fun and the weather was perfect - not too cold and not warm enough to keep the ice from melting.
So he plays around on my phone and now heaven knows I now have to undo what settings he screwed up

Do I need to call a lawyer…..?
DH does that too :sad2:

He changed settings on their trail cam - they finally have found a spot that has some activity with the animal they are looking for. Then last night he was asking ds why they weren't getting any updates for the day on what their trail cam caught. Turns out he was screwing around with the settings
My niece said little J is coming as Bob the Minion. He loves the Minions and little Tim the bear. Not sure who it could be that is encouraging his love of the Minions???????
:rolleyes1 That's awesome!!!!! I love some minions!

It is fun to do that!!!!! I give hot chocolate (and adult extras in the hot chocolate) if parents want!

That is amazing how much you decorate. Many homes here do too. I used to when the kids were younger. The last few years I haven't really had time - or it's been too darn cold to decorate too much.

I always buy extra. I have a houseful of men who have a sweet tooth - who are eating as much candy as I am giving out.
Must.... not...have.... candy.... in....house
I already have portioned it out and hidden it. I'll bring it out in small amounts now. DH can't control himself - he truly can't around sugar. So I put it away.

Well, I should get going and shuffle some papers.

Oh Keisha, we did have gummy bears, lollipops, licorice, chip bags, and Pokémon card packs to give out. I think all the kids were happy. I guess anyway. We usually buy more, but since I can be a big chocolate eater, decided not to buy as much. Hehe, changed my office decor to Christmas holiday items. Don’t really have much Thanksgiving ones, so that holiday next month decor it is.

Lunchtime walk. Time to go.

Have a great day everyone!

Glad your salsa turned out good, home made is so much nicer, tastes so fresh! Same with sauces, fresh is best.

Yes, I can see why people get addicted to some of these nastier ones. Although I took the last two before midnight last night, I was still so drowsy this afternoon, I slept for over an hour and had the weirdest dreams...nothing unusual there though, but it still feels like the effects of the pain pills.

Have a great day!

Yep, fell asleep and had the weirdest dream about an evil cat, but that might have been the tv show I was watching......keisha, Fall of the House of Usher......least it wasn`t a chemical shower!!!! eeek!!

Soup and ice cream days are so good! I`m so glad I made some home made soup in advance, and he did buy some decent store bought ice cream, still prefer my own though.

No pain at all today, just a dull feeling today which is so much better than we expected. Can`t play the wounded fairy part now......lol.....

Looking forward to the salmon Tom is going to cook for us tonight, that`s easy to eat and very tasty too, Scottish salmon, can`t get better for flavour. And more ice cream I think!

Now it is November, for me it is time to think about Christmas, yes it`s allowed now......we`ll be decorating very early this year. Our gardener has offered to do all the outdoor stuff when we`re gone, he has keys to the gate and our housesitters will here most of the time, and he has access to everything so think we`ll take him up on it. But, we do all the indoor trees and decorations together. That`s the fun part!

Tom is bringing me a cup of tea, he does brew very good tea!

Quick lunchtime check in. This has been an unusually busy week.
We only had 9 kids come to our house last night. I think many of the parents take their children to larger neighborhoods.
I can’t quite think of Christmas yet. B has a birthday on November 14. She will get her gift on the 7th though. We got her tickets to a Celtic Thunder concert. She has unusual taste in music for someone her age.

Older one’s birthday is this weekend. Bought him Westling tickets, that his sister will go. I have no interest. Sounds like a nice concert Charade. Yeah. My kids like more like rock shows, and the last one they saw was Three Days Grace.

Lunchtime walk was nice. Little one even remarked it’s about time the trees start changing into their oranges and browns. Felt more like Fall weather, and was glad I had my jacket on. But back I go to that routine week day afternoon.
