Something About Nothing............ #14

Thanks for the explanation. Our tea room definitely does not do high tea. They do offer lunch options though. One of these days I will try them for lunch.

I love little places like that, proper tea rooms are a delight!

Quiet day here. Not too sure what I'm going to whip up for dinner yet. I do have some meat defrosting, just to decide what to do with it. I have a roast out. Tomorrow night I wanted to make some kebobs on the grill after letting whatever is left to marinate overnight. I'm thinking it might be a steak fajita night over a bed of nacho chips ( salad for me).

Wow! Those are awesome!!! I could think of a few things those would be amazing in. Enjoy those garden goodies.

Sun is trying to come out, and it's one of those nice warm (not too warm) days.

Currently trying to rephrase and beef up my cover letter for a job posting I seen for a different desk in our healthcare system. Not holding much hope for it, but I gotta try ;) It's still only part-time...but more days than I am currently working.

Off to find more papers to shuffle

Good luck with the letter, yes, nothing wrong with trying, you never know!!

Salad onions were nice, sweeter than I expected, but we still have a fair few growing or ready to pick so I look forward to them.

Great news! B got the job at the bookstore. She goes in for orientation tomorrow.

Fabulous news for your daughter!! Really pleased for her, hope she enjoys it and has some fun working there with some nice people.

Heading out soon for the drive to the circuit, looks a good morning ahead so he`ll be driving the cars in the dry which is better. Slept like a rock again last night but when the alarm went off, we were both up like bullets, breakfast of toast with preserves and some fruit chopped up, that works. And tea, always tea.

And it`s Friday!!!! Always a good feeling, even if you don`t choose to work........:)

Have a lovely Friday :sunny:

It's that Friday Feeling :cool1: Only I'm working the weekend :lmao:

I had to detour from my regular route to work. It looks like it's the street performers festival this weekend along with BBQ masters in town. I guess tomorrow when I go to work, I won't be leaving at lunchtime. I'll hit a food truck or the BBQ masters which will be on the next block. I better pack my patience pants too ;)

I did get out to get my walk in - when all I really wanted to do was sit my butt down in my chair with the remote last night. But I got it done.

I whipped up some elk steak fajitas and put it on a bed of taco chips layered in cheese! I put mine on a salad :rolleyes1 just to make it a little healthier. My working men/boys need more calories that their old momma. It turned out pretty good. I made way too much - but it was a make again meal for sure. Next time - that might be a Friday night meal. I have the rest of the elk marinating for kabobs for tonight and will put those on naan bread with cheese and tzatziki sauce. I'll toss them into the airfryer for a quick and easy dinner.

Dh leaves tomorrow afternoon for his work trip to Minneapolis. He doesn't fly out until Monday morning for Minneapolis but there were no flights going to the city on Sunday - they were all full :scared: . So he gets so spend time with dd, GD and sil as his flight leaves from where they live - the bugger. Grammie is a little jealous that he gets to spend a day with her without me there :sad1:

@Charade67 That's great that she got the job!!!! I hope it goes good for her.

@schumigirl enjoy your day at the track.

Off to find some paperwork!

Thanks Pumpkin, we had a blast!! It was so much fun, he loved the cars he drove and as soon as he had finished around 1pm the rain came on, so we were lucky.

Hope your DH has a good trip and nice touch to be able to spend time with your GD first. I know you`re working, but hope you can still have a lovely weekend!!

Yep, track day was so much fun, I think that`s the 8th or 9th time he`s done it, changed slightly since Covid, they used to offer cars like the Lamborghini Aventador and different very fast Ferrari`s, but they still have a very good set to choose from, his favourite is the single seater race car which is fast!!

Didn`t manage a lunch out as he finished later than we thought, so we grabbed some food from the "burger truck" that`s at the track.....not bad, bacon rolls for them and I had chips (fries) with curry sauce, it was very basic, but filled a hole.

Made my own quiche for tonight, leek, bacon and mushroom, had it with some salad, will have some left for tomorrow night as we`re doing a Charcuterie Board for the two of us with some lovely red wine, little slices of quiche will be nice.

Tea first, then a very small, large 😉 Gin with lemonade tonight, lots of lemon slices and ice, can`t go wrong there!!

'Well had 8am post op check and all good. Received my appt at cancer agency, relieved it’s before my Universal trip!
Another hot day here. Still trying to decide when to do my little cross border shopping day! Oldest dd wants to go so will have to be after 12;30, her summer hours at the daycare. Will go to our fav Mexican cafe while down there.

@pumpkin hope you don’t have much delay with our port strike. So annoying didn’t they just strike not too long ago? Always in summer for Alaska cruise season. They turned down a $10/hr raise!
I failed with carrots too! And cabbage. The bugs got to the cabbage.

@schumigirl yes that’s the truth, weddings and funerals! In this case happily it was a wedding.
I got my Bosch dishwasher because several of you gave recommendation! I’ll never get another one. Amazed how sparkling everything comes out. I thought the Kitchenaide did a good job, but even my husband noticed how shinny things came out with Bosch.
After looking at your High Tea menu, I realized what we had was Afternoon Tea! It was quite a cute place in a heritage house. We’ve been there several times. A unique place, they had several rooms dedicated to tea, and they are also a boutique with other rooms having clothing, jewelry and household goods.

@Charade67 our driveway curves too. And I get to park in garage on the curve side because my SUV is smaller than husbands. Lucky me. With the angle I sometimes have to do 2 swipes to get out!
Yay for B :cheer2: getting job!

@schumigirl funny story. Years ago I was on a dragon boat team with Abreast in a Boat. Our team captain was Scottish. For season wrap up we had a dinner and she ordered the cake. It read Congrats Abreast in a Boot!
I‘ve never seen that type of purple onion!

@Pumpkin1172 good luck with job posting!

Sue, apologies.....I must have missed your posts about having treatment, I did flick through some posts over the last few weeks, but glad to hear you`re doing good and it`s good news, always good to hear that type of result!

Yes, High Tea is not as elegant as Afternoon Tea, I was saying to a couple of my friends we haven`t gone to have High Tea or did it ourselves at each other homes for the longest time, we need to do it again soon.

Usually our salad onions or scallions are green, but these ones we haven`t seen before in a garden, farm stores have them but I`m happy we managed to grow them. Weirdly we call them spring onions, and in Scotland we call them Sybies for some weird and unique reason known only to us!!! Some Scots spell that Syboes for some even weirder reason!!

Quiche was lovely, and we did keep half for tomorrow, grudgingly as we could have eaten it all! Now enjoying a small, very large gin.......perfect!!

Thinking we might watch some Potter movies tonight......

Very quiet day here. I am fighting to stay awake. Time to do some online cruising. I still have just under 2 hrs left :faint: The afternoon seems to be dragging on.

I ran home over lunch - we are unusually humid here again today. It feels like the sticky Florida humidity for some reason - or I'm just day dreaming of Florida!

@schumigirl Your dinner sounds delicious!!! Nice and light!

@Sue M I wish we could do some cross boarder shopping. I would have to drive about 13.5 -14 hr just to get to the border  So that won't happen lol. I hope you get to go soon!

Well, off to find something else to do!

Am playing catch-up here!
Love reading how everyone is doing and hope all are getting better.

Not midnight yet and will be up another hour tonight.

I spent a good portion of today sorting out clothes and items we no longer use in the house.
I do the sweep for the donation bins.

I end up thinking I now have a lot of room in the house.
(And hold back of anymore shopping.)

I prefer not to grocery shop on Saturday as most places are so crowded.
So I made an executive decision we will order food out for Saturday.

Sweet dreams to all the homies!

Schumi it’s easy to miss things when you’re trying to catch up to be sure! I had breast cancer years ago. I’m May there was another found on other side. Had lumpectomy. Got the all clear and had post op check this morning.

Pumpkin I did go across the border today! Glad I have Nexus! I picked the wrong day to go with the Taylor Swidth concert and Blue Jays Game in Seattle this weekend. But daughter & I had a nice day. Went to our fave Mexican place, Costco, Fred Meyers, and Trader Joes! Boy it was sure hard to walk by that $23 bottle of Kirkland Vodka at Costco. Sheesh. Can’t believe how cheap booze is in the US!

Mac good for you! That’s what I need to do! A good clean out and donate! I envy you getting it done.

I don`t think most folks in the UK could imagine driving 14 hours to get anywhere!!! Our length from tip to bottom is around 830 miles, but no one would drive that in one go usually. And 14 hours is just to get you to the border!!!

Dinner was lovely! I think the other half will be sliced for tonight and put in the Charcuterie if we do it.

Sounds like a productive day mac, it`s good to have those clearouts. And yes it does leave one with a lot of space as long as we don`t shop to replace the items!!!

Yep, we avoid stores of any kind on a Saturday, except our village stores as they are never too bad, I need to pop to the deli and get some bread if Tom feels better and we have charcuterie, I forgot to buy rosemary to make my own and we like their options....better than mine!!!

Enjoy takeout tonight.....I can imagine what you`ll be having!

Well, I`m glad it`s good news.

Yes, alcohol is massively cheaper in the US!! We do bring back some real treats, massive bottles too compared to what we can get without going online.

Must be almost bedtime for you now......I got up around 5ish as Tom was restless, so rather than complain I got up and let him sleep hopefully. Hope you sleep well.

We have rain this morning and I think it`s going to be on all day by the looks of the forecast and the same tomorrow. Well, maybe our summer is over now...wouldn`t be surprised!

My husband has the shivers this morning, so I think I`ll be nursemaid today. I don`t think it was yesterday as it was fairly warm, but he is going hot and cold and has a headache. Will take him up some tea in an hour or so if he`s awake. Then decide how he feels as to what we eat tonight.

The rest of the day will be filled with some housework, ironing and maybe some TR if I have time which I should do. I think my husband will snooze the day away after a poor nights sleep.

Going to do some bacon rolls for breakfast, nothing fancy this morning, lunch will be turkey, brie and cranberry toasty always enjoy that.

But, pot of tea time as I`ve been up almost 2 hours now and already had one, time for another....opened the bifold doors as it is very mild, so enjoying fresh air, listening and watching the rain and hoping no foxes wander in!!! There are some around again but they tend not to bother us I think they get a bigger fright than we do when they see us.

Have a wonderful Saturday and weekend ☺️

Oh Schumi poor Tom! Sounds like something is brewing. Hope he doesn’t feel too badly.

Sigh, I fell asleep then I woke up just past 12:30 ugh. Hopefully I get back to sleep soon.

Ooh Sue, hope you got back to sleep. I am so happy to hear you got the all clear yesterday. Nice to enjoy some shopping time with DD.

Mac, good to do a clear out with stuff you don’t need. Hope you are feeling good.

Movie time today.

Good Saturday morning Sans family

Sorry the fires are still creating so much smoke for all you south of us. It's smoky and hazy here too. Last night the sun while it was setting through all the haze was a brilliant orange. It's been hazy here for weeks. We haven't seen a blue skies for a while now.
Sorry to hear you are having such issues with the smoke haze. Our sky’s actually looked better yesterday.

I was buried with welcome home to-do’s here, need a bigger machete in my life :)
Life has a way of doing that especially after vacation.

Got some absolutely horrible news today from a friend from church. Her older brother went missing earlier this month after his house burned down. He was found in the woods behind his house. Autopsy showed blunt force trauma. His truck was missing from his house, but the police found it and arrested the person who had it. I think he was wanted on some unrelated charges. They have also questioned the ex-wife multiple times. My friend and her other siblings just recently found out about this because one of them was contacted about it through Facebook. The ex-wife had told the police that her ex didn't have any other family. My friend thinks the ex-wife is involved. This is starting to sound like a plot to a Lifetime movie.
Wow….thats sounds terrible. I hope they get everything sorted out as to who was involved and justice is done for your friends brother.

Mum is doing good after going through a lot last 16 months, it was so much fun spending most of our time with her as well as see family and some very close friends. And food.....so much food!!!
So good to hear your mom is doing well Carole. She has been through a lot. She is one tough lady. So good you were able to spend time with her and your family. As we all get older those times spent with family are more precious for sure.

Looked high and low for Robo.
Hope we will see her tomorrow.
Thank you Mac. I have been a little busy here. Hope you are well.

As for dishwashers, get a Bosch. Best dishwasher I ever had. And we always had high end ones. But Bosch beat them all.
We bought a Bosch a few years ago and I love ours. It is the best dish washer.

Robo hope they’re able to get your orthotic right! A little retail therapy is always fun! Sending healing thoughts your way. Good Grief! Not Halloween decorations already. By Sept Costco will probably have Christmas stuff out. Was at Costco las week and staff were already putting sweaters out. I just can’t!
I had to take the orthotic back yesterday for them to remake it as it did not fit right. They scanned my foot and said that should help for a more accurate fit. I had no idea they did that. Would have helped if they had done that the first time.

Yes, they have Halloween decorations out at HomeGoods too.

Tomorrow going to this cute little place to celebrate my friends birthday. They do High Tea. I had to phone to see what options they had for diabetics. Last time you could order off the menu for a salad or other options. Now they only serve Tea. They said I could have the savoury things and fruit. I will just have to drool over the sweets the others have!
Hope you all had a nice lunch out for your friends birthday. Sounds like a nice way to celebrate.

Friday is my post op check. Got my pathology report yesterday. It’s good! They got it all. So fortunate they caught it early.
So good to hear you got a clean report of your pathology. Now time to celebrate and think of the fun of your upcoming trip.

Continuing to send healing thoughts and prayers your way.

My friend who took ill with the heat in Europe is doing well physically, but she is having slight panic moments in case it happens again, which in our heat she has no concerns, it`s nowhere near as hot as Europe here!!! I can see why she is concerned as it did scare the heck out of both of them, but doc has given her a clean bill of health.
Good to hear your friend is feeling much better.

`ve posted some pictures of Scotland on the TR, not too many as we really didn`t take that many, mainly family ones.
I saw your photos. They are beautiful. Everything is so green and lush.

Great news! B got the job at the bookstore. She goes in for orientation tomorrow.
Congratulations to B on getting the job.

Sending get well wishes to Tom.

I was awakened this morning by the phone ringing at 5:40 am. It was an emergent recorded message about an escape prisoner in hand cuffs of all things. Never had that happen before.

I noticed this on my sisters Facebook page thought I would share this as it looks like another scam bad people are doing.

IMG_1526.jpeg

It seems like these scammers are always coming up with an angle to try and get your money. I’am sure the hotels have been informed, but it never hurts to be careful.

I had to go back to see the Ortho Tech’s for my Orthotics yesterday. The one they made for my left foot did not fit right. So they scanned both my feet and told me they would get it right. They were so nice. Not sure why they did not do that first time.

I brought the original molds from the first time I had them made a number of years ago so they would have something to help them get the inserts reduplicated, but something went wrong. The insert for left foot was off a lot.

Went to Sam’s yesterdays and they had dark sweet cherries on sale. So I bought a couple of containers and came home and washed, pitted and froze some for the smoothies I have been making. They are so good. I did this last year and went through all the frozen cherries pretty quickly.

I have been busy trying to go through all the photos on my phone. I have needed to sit down and get rid of some photos and just clean things up. I have tons of storage, but I‘am back to putting photos in various photo albums and going through thousands of pictures on my phone Is a chore for sure. Something I have needed to do for awhile.

I went to Walmart yesterday and printed a lot of pictures I had of our grandson as I needed to get his photo album up to date.

It is supposed to be a sunny day today. Temps should be in the low 80’s if the weather holds to what is predicted. Humidity is what has been making it feel hotter here.

My sister told me about an Art fair/farmers market that is supposed to be in town today. So might give my niece a call and see if she wants to take little J out for awhile. He has a cute little Red Truck that he rides in that he likes. It has a handle like a stroller.

Foot is feeling better in the walking boot. Have had it on for a little over a week. Has really helped stress fracture and planters fasciitis. So moving in the right direction.

Hubby is still sleeping.

Sipping my coffee enjoying my view out the window. It is quiet out.

I need to finish my trip report I started. I don’t like leaving things unfinished. So will try to get that done this week.

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone.

Quick Saturday morning stop in - while I wait for the hca's to start checking in that they are at their first client. I will have some downtime in my shifts this weekend - which is unusual. But I'll take it!

We ended up going out for dinner last night. Bil and finance were in town. We went to a locally owned italian place. We always have great meals there! Plus - it's a place that people tend to NOT bring their kids - not that I mind that. But it is nice and quiet so you can always have good conversations with whoever your dining with.

Other than that - I did nothing else last night. By the time we got home - I watched a little tv then off to bed since my days here start early.

Not sure what is in store for tonight after work. Dh will be on his way to the city to see the kids down there, then off to work trip. Youngest ds is going out with friends, and other ds was talking about going fishing for the day. So I might be home by myself for the most part.

@macraven good for you to get some purging done! It always feels good to get some of that done! It's time for me to get some done as well. My closet and my basement need it done again.

@schumigirl Hopefully Tom is not down for too long. I never rest easy when I know someone in the house is feeling under the weather.

@Sue M I hope your still counting sheep as I write this. Thankfully that doesn't happen often to me. Dh on the other hand, rarely sleeps for a whole night. I always worry about him and his sleep.

@Robo56 It's good to hear that your foot is slowly mending in the boot. It sounds like you have been a busy gal - even with your foot in a boot. Scammers in my books - have a special place in hell. If they would spend half the time they do on trying to do good in the world instead of bad - this place would be an amazing place to live.

Well...I should get started on some of my weekend tasks.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!

@Lynne G i did get back to sleep. Gave up tossing and went into living room and put on some mindless tv show and fell back to sleep.

@Robo56 glad to hear the boot is making things more comfortable. I injured myself years ago and it helped me too. Hope they get orthotic right this time. Good question about why they didn’t scan first time. Doesn’t sound like they used the mold either!

I‘ve heard of that hotel scam. I think now when you ask for a room # they ask for the name of person in that room If it’s an outside call.

@Pumpkin1172 that’s what happens when you live up there! :duck:No cross border shopping for you!
Sounds like an enjoyable dinner last night.

Nothing much planned for today! A quiet weekend. Breakfast time, sausage and eggs.

Morning all:flower1: going to barely hit 80’s today, looking forward to a nice, quiet day here. Those thunderstorms that rolled thru the other night still have some folks in area without power.

will do a proper catch up soon as my laundry is up to date!!!! ☺️
Well, I guess we know where we rate on the scale of things :rotfl:
Ate dinner last night beside a family from Manhattan who told us some horrible stories out of the City, convinced me not to take a week there in September as I was wondering if we should do it, but nope, won`t be going there for a long time till the crime is down.
Believe it or not, their overall crime rates are supposedly lower there than last year, far less than in the 90’s when it was hell on earth. That’s when I quit visiting & no plans to venture there in the near future either.

I’d like to think I’m not a country bumpkin, worked in large city for decades. You get a feel for the safe areas and act accordingly. There are parts of Orlando I’d never venture, daylight or not.

Now, it seems as tho anyone, especially those who look like a tourist, are open season in many cities. I’m just not willing to worry constantly on the street about getting jumped while on vacation where it’d be ”a job” for me.

stunning as to the daylight brazenness of the crimes. That, hand-in-hand with the increasing level of gun-related violence happening in high profile areas of manhattan, that has started to alarm even the jaded residents. all the videos on social media sure make it seems as tho it’s lurking around every corner.
I whipped by some banana bread as I had some nanners that needed to be used up.
Lol is it wrong I usually go to banana pudding? I do freeze bananas past their prime, when I get enough into bread or a smoothie it goes
We have been told 3-4 weeks. I am in no rush to get them - which is the good thing. When the arrive - they arrive. Heck - I might even have our saving account back to the original amount by the time they get here. I figured out I would have to work 6 weekends to have them bought and paid for.
That is impressive!
Robo hope they’re able to get your orthotic right
Absolutely, awful when one just doesn’t feel right. I’ve ditched using mine with my new athletics. no issue walking nearly 10 miles a day in the parks last trip without them.
Keisha welcome back!
Thank you!
Caught a test that should have been repeated since last one was 2018. So ordered that.
That’s a good thing. DH had same thing happen at his recent cardiologist appt. dr was gracious enough to act embarrassed. Said the system is supposed to automatically send a notice when the routine tests are due after having surgery. I think they should people for that TBH.
They do High Tea
I’ve always wondered if there is a low tea Lol. I’ve got tea in low places.

Probably a Lipton tea bag brewed thru a keurig in a mug. Guilty as charged at times when in a hurry lol

they still do a high tea in one of the grand dame hotels here. Haven’t gone in decades, pricing is astronomical

https://www.omnihotels.com/-/media/...nus/pitdtn-high-tea-menu-11-22-accessible.pdf

No real excuses now. I think we`re more or less back to normal now with things. Thank goodness!
They still are blaming the Chinese here re chips. any excuse will do it seems
I can see why she is concerned as it did scare the heck out of both of them, but doc has given her a clean bill of health.
Maybe a bit of PTSD or an over abundance of caution there.
Great news! B got the job at the bookstore. She goes in for orientation tomorrow.
Good for her, hope it‘s a great fit & she gets a nice discount :)
his favourite is the single seater race car which is fast!!
Vroom vroom, glad he had a great time.
Well had 8am post op check and all good. Received my appt at cancer agency, relieved it’s before my Universal trip!
Wonderful news for you!
Usually our salad onions or scallions are green, but these ones we haven`t seen before in a garden, farm stores have them but I`m happy we managed to grow them
never saw those. We do grow red onions. I wonder if they are “baby” ones. Need to mention to the mr, the raw onion king.

he pulled his first harvest of garlic a few weeks ago and dried it out. Have a bulb sitting on my counter, waiting to be sampled. Hoping an improvement over the rocks they’ve been selling in lieu of garlic.:headache:
Ooh Sue, hope you got back to sleep. I am so happy to hear you got the all clear yesterday. Nice to enjoy some shopping time with DD.

Mac, good to do a clear out with stuff you don’t need. Hope you are feeling good.

Movie time today.
Whatcha seeing? We’ve been negotiating all week which one we will see first. I wanted Oppenheimer, knowing i could probably catch barbie with a repeat viewing w/GD. instead of Mission Impossible, he mentioned Indy movie. Did hear that was a bit of a miss, figure it will be on Disney+ soon enough.
Yes, they have Halloween decorations out at HomeGoods too
I rely on you to advise when the spooky stuff hits the stores! Spirit halloween opens August 3rd here. Not sure if that sounds “sad” that I know the date lol

big lots is a bit of a haul from here. Any idea when they get their stash? Other than some misses during covid, they always had something or other interesting.
I brought the original molds from the first time I had them made a number of years ago so they would have something to help them get the inserts reduplicated, but something went wrong. The insert for left foot was off a lot.
Still have mine from last go-round too. My podiatrist insists they are still “good” as they are in like new shape after nearly a decade. I am of the mind that the one where I both developed tarsal tunnel and broke said foot is decidedly off. will mention it again when I see her for annual in February I guess.
I went to Walmart yesterday and printed a lot of pictures I had of our grandson as I needed to get his photo album up to date.
They do a nice job. shocks me that they have one of the best bakeries around for birthday cakes these days. The sort of fancier cakes you see at Publix, at 1/3rd the price.

I’ve had very good luck with Walgreens lately, price is right with the weekly reward coupon offers.

@keishashadow Thank you for your good wishes. I’m healing nicely, can’t wait to go bra shopping, before trip. I need to find a couple of nice ones without underwire. Still too sore for that. Anyone with suggestions of ones that give shape I’m open!

Yes, when you are familiar with a city you pretty much know what areas to avoid. There are a few blocks in the downtown in Vancouver I avoid. Unfortunately it’s too close to the cruise port for comfort. Luckily we don’t have much of it and in my little city there aren’t such places. I’m going to have to phone my brother who lives on Long Island to get his take on it.

We are having another Port worker strike contributing to delays in receiving things here. :sad2:

Dont get me started on Halloween and Christmas decorations AND clothing being put out when it’s only July! Can’t they just let me enjoy Summer before hitting me in the face with Fall and winter

I’m thinking of Indy! Have to see the last one! Mission Impossible and Barbie lol are on the list! The trailers I’ve seen of Barbie are pretty funny. I loved playing with Barbie! Then passed her to my cousin. We were both so upset when her mom threw out Our Barbie!

Our Walmarts don’t have a bakery in store. They just sell yucky packaged things. But I love Publix. They make a great Keylime pie! And the Florida ones at least carry the very yummy Indian River O.J. And my fave breakfast sausage, Jones. We don’t get it in Canada. I did find the sausage in one store near Seattle but that’s a 3 hr drive across the border! Our closest city is Bellingham for shopping and Trader Joes! About a 30 min drive down I-5. There are of course towns right past border but no Costco or TJ’s!

Oh Schumi poor Tom! Sounds like something is brewing. Hope he doesn’t feel too badly.

Sigh, I fell asleep then I woke up just past 12:30 ugh. Hopefully I get back to sleep soon.

Yep, he came downstairs, looked worse so I chased him back upstairs and back into bed! I`m not the best nurse, but do try :)

Good Saturday morning Sans family

Sorry to hear you are having such issues with the smoke haze. Our sky’s actually looked better yesterday.

Life has a way of doing that especially after vacation.

Wow….thats sounds terrible. I hope they get everything sorted out as to who was involved and justice is done for your friends brother.

So good to hear your mom is doing well Carole. She has been through a lot. She is one tough lady. So good you were able to spend time with her and your family. As we all get older those times spent with family are more precious for sure.

Thank you Mac. I have been a little busy here. Hope you are well.

We bought a Bosch a few years ago and I love ours. It is the best dish washer.

I had to take the orthotic back yesterday for them to remake it as it did not fit right. They scanned my foot and said that should help for a more accurate fit. I had no idea they did that. Would have helped if they had done that the first time.

Yes, they have Halloween decorations out at HomeGoods too.

Hope you all had a nice lunch out for your friends birthday. Sounds like a nice way to celebrate.

So good to hear you got a clean report of your pathology. Now time to celebrate and think of the fun of your upcoming trip.

Continuing to send healing thoughts and prayers your way.

Good to hear your friend is feeling much better.

I saw your photos. They are beautiful. Everything is so green and lush.

Congratulations to B on getting the job.

View attachment 779617

Thank you on mum and Tom, yes she`s a tough lady, she`s quite deceiving as she is so tiny, but generally has the heart of a lioness!

Scammers are the worst! That`s a horrible one though.

Glad the foot is doing better with the boot and yes, thos orthotics shouldn`t be wrong when you`ve been scanned.

You`re a better lady than me, I`d have made cherry scones with those cherries! Haven`t had a fruit smoothy in a long time!

Enjoy the farmers market, they are always amazing places and yes, I know what you mean about trip reports, I thought I`d have been further on, but I`ll get there.

Have a lovely weekend Robbie.

Not always a popular opinion but I don`t care, I love places where there are no "little darlings" on occasion. It`s nice to have just adults for a time. Even though Kyle was always that child that always behaved at meals in restaurants, there were still times adults only were a good thing.

Hope you have a peaceful evening tonight with some quiet time to yourself. Yes, when our other half or child is poorly it`s always a little worrying.

Morning all:flower1: going to barely hit 80’s today, looking forward to a nice, quiet day here. Those thunderstorms that rolled thru the other night still have some folks in area without power.

Well, I guess we know where we rate on the scale of things :rotfl:

Lol is it wrong I usually go to banana pudding? I do freeze bananas past their prime, when I get enough into bread or a smoothie it goes

That is impressive!

Absolutely, awful when one just doesn’t feel right. I’ve ditched using mine with my new athletics. no issue walking nearly 10 miles a day in the parks last trip without them.

Thank you!

That’s a good thing. DH had same thing happen at his recent cardiologist appt. dr was gracious enough to act embarrassed. Said the system is supposed to automatically send a notice when the routine tests are due after having surgery. I think they should people for that TBH.

I’ve always wondered if there is a low tea Lol. I’ve got tea in low places.

Probably a Lipton tea bag brewed thru a keurig in a mug. Guilty as charged at times when in a hurry lol

they still do a high tea in one of the grand dame hotels here. Haven’t gone in decades, pricing is astronomical

https://www.omnihotels.com/-/media/...nus/pitdtn-high-tea-menu-11-22-accessible.pdf

They still are blaming the Chinese here re chips. any excuse will do it seems

Maybe a bit of PTSD or an over abundance of caution there.

Good for her, hope it‘s a great fit & she gets a nice discount :)

Vroom vroom, glad he had a great time.

Wonderful news for you!

never saw those.

Whatcha seeing? We’ve been negotiating all week which one we will see first. I wanted Oppenheimer, knowing i could probably catch barbie with a repeat viewing w/GD. instead of Mission Impossible, he mentioned Indy movie. Did hear that was a bit of a miss, figure it will be on Disney+ soon enough.

lol.....laundry first always!!!!

Liptons!!!!!!!! Janet, we need to talk......lol......

High Teas were always lovely, properly set tables with white table cloths and so on, very nice and yes, I think it`s more high end places now that do them here as standard. Afternoon tea is also lovely, I do like those nice little sandwiches and sweet selection.

Yes, she`s not the type to ponder over things, she usually gets back on the horse so to speak, so maybe she needs a little time to get over the shock of it all.

Kyle had a blast thanks!

Those onions are a different variety from red onions or regular onions, more akin to between a chive and a leek, but definitely the scallion family, very tasty.

I don`t plan to watch Oppenheimer or Barbie.......but we might go see Mission Impossible, yes Indy is getting slated, I know several who have seen it and have all said it was rubbish, should have left well alone.

Tourists are certainly reporting more shocking crimes, to hear it from a resident of Manhattan, they live on the Upper East Side, it brought it home. My cousins in Long Island said they won`t be back in the City for a while. Scare mongering of course is everywhere, I know last time we were there we noticed a massive increase in homeless folks in doorways up and down the main streets. Never felt threatened by them being honest. And yes, there are areas of Orlando and beyond I wouldn`t go to at night. Although if you remember my story about Cherry Pocket with the guy with the gun, you know we always have to tell folks at the hotel where we go before we leave.....lol.......

Have a great weekend!

Well, we won`t be having Charcuterie tonight, Tom is still in bed feeling shivery and nauseated. Making sure he has plenty of water, won`t touch anything with ginger and making sure he has lots of paracetemol. And sleep. He came down for a cup of tea, said he wasn`t in the least bit hungry so I huckled him back up to bed.

I had made some savoury cheese scones as I knew we hadn`t gone to the deli for bread, thought we`d have them instead.......but now I may have to just have a couple with butter some butter :rolleyes1

They`ll keep till tomorrow though, will pop what`s left into a container.

i-DSjccBm-M.jpg

So, it`s just me for dinner tonight, not sure what I`ll have now.....might take a selection of the charcuterie out and have a little feast just for me! Yep, that`ll work! And definitely open a bottle of wine if I`m looking after Tom tonight!!!

Will chat to some friends too I think and watch something nonsense! Maybe not ideal as I`d rather he was downstairs and feeling well.

I need one of those savoury scones first though!!

Schumi those scones look lovely. Hope Tom feels better soon. My husband had some virus, not Covid, and had him down for a couple of weeks. Don’t really know what it was. Went to doctor, who took swabs and ran blood tests, and x ray. He just had to ride it out. Hes better now.
And I won’t see him the rest of the weekend! British Open is on! He’s glued to the set.

Hello everyone. Not too much going on this weekend. Yesterday I did a little shopping for cross stitch supplies. I am trying to pick up an old hobby that I abandoned several years ago. I have a wolf picture that I started for dh about 25 years ago but never finished. Today is an exciting day of doing laundry and organizing craft supplies.

when all I really wanted to do was sit my butt down in my chair with the remote last night.
That's me most days. I am really trying to make an effort to do some exercise each day.

'Well had 8am post op check and all good.
Great news!

I spent a good portion of today sorting out clothes and items we no longer use in the house.
I do the sweep for the donation bins.
Now you can buy new stuff. 😄
I had to take the orthotic back yesterday for them to remake it as it did not fit right. They scanned my foot and said that should help for a more accurate fit. I had no idea they did that. Would have helped if they had done that the first time.
I hope they get it right for you this time. You need to be able to walk comfortably.

I was awakened this morning by the phone ringing at 5:40 am. It was an emergent recorded message about an escape prisoner in hand cuffs of all things. Never had that happen before.
Wow, do you know if he was caught?

I noticed this on my sisters Facebook page thought I would share this as it looks like another scam bad people are doing.
Ugh! People are always coming up with new ways of scamming. Good to know this information before going on my next trip.

going to barely hit 80’s today,
My kind of temperature.

I’m thinking of Indy!
Dh wants to see that one. I am still trying to get caught up on the Indiana Jones movies I missed.

Tom is still in bed feeling shivery and nauseated.
Sending well wishes to Tom. Hope he is able to get lots of sleep and starts feeling better quickly.

I had made some savoury cheese scones
Those look really good.

I think I am going to try to get my flight changed to my local airport. The flight out of Richmond is much cheaper, but the airport is 2.5 hours away. The more I think about the drive (I would have to leave home around 6:30 in the morning if I were to get to the airport 2 hours before my flight leaves) the more it makes sense to pay a little more to fly from my local airport.
