Good Tuesday morning

Had a lovely dinner and evening with some of the family last night, got back here late, but this morning could see our lovely view.

Good to hear you are having such a wonderful time with your family. The view from your hotel is beautiful.

By the end of the month, I'll have a new fridge, stove and dishwasher lol.

Woke up yesterday to the windows being rattled by thunder. Had a hefty thunderstorm role through early in the AM. Did clear off nicely by later in the morning.

I watched little J Yesterday. We went to Cotsco for some items and they had some Halloween decorations out. One was a 10 foot animatronic Witch that was cackling with glowing eyes. J thought it was funny. He is pretty laid back with Halloween decorations as I decorate for Halloween so does my sister his grandma and my niece little J’s mom so he is used to them. I have a lot of smaller animatronics in my decorations.

It was hot after the rain cleared away. So we did inside play area at the Mall. There were a few other little ones there so he has fun running around with them.

We had air quality alert Sunday and haze from fires in Canada. Seems odd that some place so far away could affect our air quality.

Everyone is cooking in the South with the heat and humidity. Thunderstorms are a up a bit this summer also. The rain is needed to help to keep the crops and grass from burning up.

Not much going on today. I’am going to go out and sit a little while In the yard. The storm that came in yesterday brought a little reprieve from the severe heat. Upper 70’s predicted today. I need to check on my tomato plants and flowers.

Sue hope you are continuing to do well in your recovery.

Quick Taco Tuesday stop in!

Sorry the fires are still creating so much smoke for all you south of us. It's smoky and hazy here too. Last night the sun while it was setting through all the haze was a brilliant orange. It's been hazy here for weeks. We haven't seen a blue skies for a while now.

Quiet night last night. We didn't do much. I was too tired to go for a walk - after not sleeping the night before with the storms. Made a phone call and video chatted with GD. That kid cracks me up!!!!

Another quiet day at work today. Not sure what I can find to keep me busy (ish) or at least look like I'm working. I will stretch out the shredding for the next couple of days Plus our paper shredder is on it's last legs too....so doing that isn't too hard.

It's a windy day today. Good thing I used the grill last night - instead of tonight. Now to decide what I'm going to whip up for dinner tonight with the left over chicken. It might be bbq chicken tacos!

Well, I should run...it's almost lunch time.

Had a lovely late afternoon with mum, one brother met us and went for dinner together then went over to see my sister and family, always nice. Dinner was really nice, chef had made a special coconut malibu cheesecake, it was lovely.

GD coming in a bit to sleepover, then will ferry her to a sports Camp in the am…2nd time this week. Had to laugh, the price of gas here is same as it was in MCO. usually much lower there with tax break on it.

Greetings from the night owl. Thankfully no thunderstorms today, but I think they will be back tomorrow and Thursday.
Work has been mostly uneventful. Yesterday I had to play detective. A client found an apple pencil in our waiting room. I texted every person who had come in last week and asked if they were missing an Apple product. I got a lot of nos before someone said they were missing a pen.

I didn't do any quotes tonight, but it looks like Schumi is enjoying Scotland, Pumpkin is happy to have new appliances, Lynne is liking summer, Mac participated in Taco Tuesday, Robo is having fun with her grandson, and Keisha is back home.

Got some absolutely horrible news today from a friend from church. Her older brother went missing earlier this month after his house burned down. He was found in the woods behind his house. Autopsy showed blunt force trauma. His truck was missing from his house, but the police found it and arrested the person who had it. I think he was wanted on some unrelated charges. They have also questioned the ex-wife multiple times. My friend and her other siblings just recently found out about this because one of them was contacted about it through Facebook. The ex-wife had told the police that her ex didn't have any other family. My friend thinks the ex-wife is involved. This is starting to sound like a plot to a Lifetime movie.

I did a late workout tonight, so I will probably be up a little while longer. My short term goal is to lose enough by my trip in September that I can comfortably fit on the HP rides.

Welcome home, as said like in the ET ride, Keisha. Yep, he was working outside and had nothing to eat before. It was so so humid that day. I am very thankful he recovered late that day.

Ooh that is awful news, Charade. I hope whoever was involved with his death will be criminally prosecuted. Sadly, news like that have been in the news before. It’s raining right now, and should be done soon. Yep a week we will finish with more rain.

But who do I see today?


Haha. A humorous one. You are right camel. I’m glad it’s now the middle of the week, where we get to say, get over this hump of a day feeling Wednesday, then becoming thirsty on Thursday as it’s then only one day before that pay day, shortest week day routine time fabulous Friday. Woot! Truly the middle of July already. And ending the month right. With hair salon visit just before our day trip to end next week. Yep, have to look fabulously blonde just two days before our trip.

And so, as an early bird, as with my DH, both have be up and online for awhile now. I am so glad we both can telework.

Ooh summer is indeed here, with enough rainy clouds today, won’t see even close to 90 degrees today. That’s okay. Still in the 70’s overnight, and 74 out already. 82 the high. And air quality alert is still with us, some of what is in air is not only water, but smoke. At 118, so orange in that color level. Eh, rain should take car of that, I hope. Not very bright out, with the rain still falling. Phone says should stop in about 10 minutes from now. Hence, time to get back to other screen, and refill my tea cup.

Charade that should be on one of those true crime shows. For some reason I don’t watch those or listen to the podcasts, despite enjoying horror & mystery genres. Think it’s the fact it can easily hit hit close to home

inexperienced Self-proclaimed private investigator experts who fleece the desperate families lookiNg. for answers. Feeding frenzy not different that what lottery winners deal

I am so bored today. Super slow work day. I just asked one of the therapists if she has anything for me to do today.

Lynne - we had a lot of rain again this morning, but it was clear when I left for work. According to the forecast we might be getting a break from the rain for awhile.

Keisha - I love mysteries too. Horror not so much. I don’t often watch true crime shows either. Occasionally one will catch my attention, but there is nothing I watch on a regular basis. I am curious to see how this situation develops.

I just had to delete a bunch of text. I answered the phone while I was posting and somehow my phone went into talk to text mode.

Now to find something to do until the therapist gets back to me.

Made it home from Scotland late afternoon today, shattered as we crammed in a lot of visiting and it was so much fun!!

Mum is doing good after going through a lot last 16 months, it was so much fun spending most of our time with her as well as see family and some very close friends. And food.....so much food!!!

Hotel was lovely as always, haven`t uploaded any pictures yet, but have a couple of beautiful sunsets. Ate dinner last night beside a family from Manhattan who told us some horrible stories out of the City, convinced me not to take a week there in September as I was wondering if we should do it, but nope, won`t be going there for a long time till the crime is down. Good to hear it from someone who actually lives there as I had heard from others how bad it has become. But, I do think my mum might not be up to the travel again anyway.

Drive home was eventful, every idiot was out in force it seems. Chinese takeout tonight I think.

Thanks for asking about my friend who collapsed with heat stroke, she is back to normal now and doing well, but it did scare both of them, although the medics/Docs and so on were amazing according to them. I don`t think they`ll be visiting Europe in the middle of the summer again.

Seems to be quite a common thing to happen it seems.

Off to make a pot of tea, brought home some lovely Scottish tea, it might taste slightly different as it won`t be made with Scottish water, you don`t get better than that!!!

It's that hump day - I can see the weekend - except it's my weekend on!!! It's ok....as I've have 4 off in a row. My turn to do a weekend on.

Not much happening in our little part of the world. Overcast/hazy gross skies again. It's quite breezy today - that would explain the headache I woke up with though. It is going to be a warmer one here again. It was nice to have a couple of cooler days - where the house actually cooled down.

I whipped by some banana bread as I had some nanners that needed to be used up. And since it was a cool day - and with the windows open keeping the house even cooler - I started the oven to bake these off.

I was going to pull out some elk meat to thaw for dinner tonight - I forgot to do that before I left the house this am Not sure what I'm going to do now. Make something with ground elk I suppose. Ugh...I hate when I forget to do that.

We have been told 3-4 weeks. I am in no rush to get them - which is the good thing. When the arrive - they arrive. Heck - I might even have our saving account back to the original amount by the time they get here. I figured out I would have to work 6 weekends to have them bought and paid for.

That is horrible. I know dh was liking listening to podcasts of murder mysteries/unsolved crimes while we were driving. I had to ask him to stop - as it was too hard on me to listen to as an empath. It is also probably why I don't like to watch any horror/mystery shows or movies.

I hope you find something to do. I like the pace of my homecare job - that when I'm working my other job - I'm having a hard time adjusting to the slow pace here.

Nighttime check in. Nothing much interesting to report. I think we have chosen the company for our driveway paving. We had someone come by this afternoon to give an estimate and our next door neighbor asked if he would come over and give an estimate for his driveway too. Later our neighbor posted a picture in Facebook of his big “date” tonight. He was having dinner with one of his daughters. I think she is about 5 or 6. She was all dressed up for the occasion. So cute.

Schumi sorry you had awful conditions driving up. Good you arrived safely. What a stunning view from your room! Always fun visiting family. I had a wonderful family visit in Florida in March for my nephews wedding. So nice to get to see everyone. It’s a rare thing to have everyone together at the same time.

Pumpkin yes always better to get appliance before they die. That happened to me 2 days before our last Universal trip! Husband had to go appliance shopping without me. I’m lucky he actually did ok. I had nightmares while I was away worried what he’d buy! Lol. As for dishwashers, get a Bosch. Best dishwasher I ever had. And we always had high end ones. But Bosch beat them all.

Robo hope they’re able to get your orthotic right! A little retail therapy is always fun! Sending healing thoughts your way. Good Grief! Not Halloween decorations already. By Sept Costco will probably have Christmas stuff out. Was at Costco las week and staff were already putting sweaters out. I just can’t!

Pumpkin nice you’re having some cool days. I don’t think I even need an oven. Just put the stuff outside to bake! We had a few cooler days last week. It was so nice. Now back to the heat. We were supposed to get some rain Monday but never happened.
It’s a bad fire season here. Other provinces are sending Firefighters to help and some other countries too. The news was saying this is the worst season yet. It’s so dry. I saw an idiot flicking a lit cigarette out his car window. Couldn’t believe it. I feel so bad for those who lost their homes.

Charade nice you decided on a company for driveway! What type of driveway are you putting in? So cute about your neighbour and his dinner date!

A fairly quiet day here. Went with husband to his new cardiologist appt. It’s close to home and his brother goes to this Dr and likes him. So DH switched. He is very nice and seems competent. Caught a test that should have been repeated since last one was 2018. So ordered that.
It’s HOT! 90F in the shade on our patio again. It was just too hot to enjoy the patio so I hid out inside. Have fan and the portable Costco AC going. Not perfect but makes it tolerable.

Tomorrow going to this cute little place to celebrate my friends birthday. They do High Tea. I had to phone to see what options they had for diabetics. Last time you could order off the menu for a salad or other options. Now they only serve Tea. They said I could have the savoury things and fruit. I will just have to drool over the sweets the others have!

Friday is my post op check. Got my pathology report yesterday. It’s good! They got it all. So fortunate they caught it early.

One of my friends has a sister called Caroline, she sent her sister a txt intended for me to her more than once, including one complaining to me about her sister.....lol.....that went well!!! High tea is not something around here anymore generally. We do see plenty of Afternoon Teas in most nicer hotels, but High Tea is something only that older generation would recognise as standard.

No, I wasn`t offended by anyone Sue, just being copied and mimicked for so many things for a long time now.....quite hilarious really seeing someone try to copy or one up you with nonsense tales about everything when I mention something. It`s a little like "Well I can do that too or oooh I do it better" and over the stupidest of things.......but, very noticeable and a little sad.

I agree with you about Bosch Dishwashers. We like this one, I`m not sure it will last as long as our Miele, but they are comparable for endurance, only Bosch are about a third of the price of our miele. My problem is I get fed up with things and want to change them after so long so I don`t expect things to last really. Tom`s glad I`ve kept him for more than 30 years.....lol

Crime is quite high in NYC again after many years of it feeling incredibly safe. I`ve been to NY 5 times for longer visits and always felt quite safe, even late at night with my mum when it was just the two of us. But so many saying "you wouldn`t want to be there now" and similar comments. I`m sure we`ll get the folks that say they never noticed anything, that`s fine, but the stories are out there. I won`t post anything political, but Google the problems the police face over there now. One of Kyle`s co workers was there two weeks ago and it was fine, they enjoyed it overall, but they saw three muggings in five days and didn`t wander far at night on the advice of the hotel.





It`s always good to get back into your own bed after a trip!!

Looks a lovely day out there, but not too hot at high 60`s, that`s a good UK summer lol.....should be a nice morning but may get rain this afternoon, so will get out this morning after breakfast.

Shopping this morning, our house guests while we were away kept everything topped up, but we do need to shop, I have a notion for some duck as I had a gorgeous appetiser on Tuesday night with duck and it was beautiful, so will source some today I think, might need to head to one of our farm shops to get some.

Tomorrow we head down to a driving circuit to spend the day with Kyle, this is his birthday gift from way back in January where he drives several sports car for the morning. He`s done it several times before and always loved it, and it is a good day at one of our largest circuits, looking forward to it. Might go out for a nice lunch afterwards as he`ll be done by lunch time. Need to get down there early though, I think we have to be there for 9ish.

So, poached egg for breakfast on toast, lunch to be decided and hopefully duck for dinner.

Time for tea.....

Busy day and I thought it would be a quiet one!

My friend who took ill with the heat in Europe is doing well physically, but she is having slight panic moments in case it happens again, which in our heat she has no concerns, it`s nowhere near as hot as Europe here!!! I can see why she is concerned as it did scare the heck out of both of them, but doc has given her a clean bill of health.

I`ve asked her if she wants to come to the track day tomorrow but she said no in case it`s too hot. We`ll all work on getting her back to normal.

I`ve posted some pictures of Scotland on the TR, not too many as we really didn`t take that many, mainly family ones.

Didn`t get duck in the end, so a couple of steaks for the grill, filet for me and a T Bone for Tom, his is a little large, especially compared to mine!! Will do some parmentier potatoes and a salad with coleslaw to go with them.

Think I might be hungry now, but a couple of hours till dinner.......

Bored at work again. I’m about to sit in in a webinar, but don’t expect it to be very exciting.

What type of driveway are you putting in?

We are just repaving and widening our driveway. It doesn’t go straight back from our garage. It has a weird inward curve to it we want to straighten out. We also want it a little wider to accommodate our cars.

High tea is not something around here anymore generally. We do see plenty of Afternoon Teas in most nicer hotels, but High Tea is something only that older generation would recognise as standard.

Can you explain the difference? The tea that B and I had consisted of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and an assortment of cookies and sweets. And, of course, a bottomless pot of tea.

Oooooo it's Thursday!!!!

Quiet night again last night. I did get a walk in though...so I am happy about that. I whipped up some rice bowls and corn on the cob. I had to stop and pick up some coleslaw that top our rice bowls and seen the corn. Popped it into the instant pot...and it was done in no time! It hit the spot for sure. I can't remember the last time we had it.

I tried to stop last night and get some fresh veggies from our Farmer's Market. The lines were long and not much left by the time I got there. I'll try again tomorrow, and leave work a little early to get there earlier. My pots are doing great, but since I planted a late...so what I have is not quite ready - but it's coming!!!! The peas are now blooming and beans are starting as well! My carrots I don't think I'll try them again next year in my pots. I can't get them to work.

Doing bed checks and see quite a few are already in bed.

I was going to pop in - then my sister called. So we had a good chin waggle last night. Then worked on updating my resume.

Friday is my post op check. Got my pathology report yesterday. It’s good! They got it all. So fortunate they caught it early.

That is the best news! I hope your healing well.

And we always had high end ones. But Bosch beat them all.

I agree! But in order to get the deal - we had to take the one that was offered. If this one doesn't clean well, I told dh that our next one will be a Bosh.
I told dh last night - if we get them before the end of Aug - especially with the strike action of the port workers AGAIN - I will be happy.

High Tea is more of a proper meal, simple or traditional dishes that are usually served with bread and butter and always a set price rather than pay individually. Very popular back in the 1980`s and moreso in Scotland for some reason. My mum and dad used to go for a High Tea every Wednesday night to a hotel along the seafront in the next town to us when I was young, but you very rarely hear of it anymore.

Afternoon tea is more what you describe, delicate finger sandwiches, cakes, small pastries, scones with clotted cream and jam and little sweet treats with endless tea or coffee of your choice.

These were the two older High Tea menu`s I could find rather than just describe them to you.

It is an amazing morning!! The weather looks good too, so we`ll get a good view of him driving each of the cars. It`s a long time to wait for his birthday gift as it was in January, but worth the wait. We`ll go for a lunch out too when he`s done, call it a secondary birthday meal.

We tried carrots once too......one was rather roodie doodie shaped, funny though but not good enough for the time it took to plant them. We did come home to some purple salad onions our gardener has grown and brought some in for us today....I can`t take the credit!! They are quite strong flavoured, and they are a healthy batch.

Steaks were lovely, Tom cooked them perfectly as always although I did have to help him a little with his steak as it was around 18oz! Feeling very full now. No room for any Scottish treats we brought back tonight!! Lots of tea though....

And maybe put the tv on later, doubt there will be much to watch, might stick on the music channels.

Thanks for the explanation. Our tea room definitely does not do high tea. They do offer lunch options though. One of these days I will try them for lunch.

Quiet day here. Not too sure what I'm going to whip up for dinner yet. I do have some meat defrosting, just to decide what to do with it. I have a roast out. Tomorrow night I wanted to make some kebobs on the grill after letting whatever is left to marinate overnight. I'm thinking it might be a steak fajita night over a bed of nacho chips ( salad for me).

We did come home to some purple salad onions our gardener has grown and brought some in for us today....I can`t take the credit!! They are quite strong flavoured, and they are a healthy batch.

Wow! Those are awesome!!! I could think of a few things those would be amazing in. Enjoy those garden goodies.

Sun is trying to come out, and it's one of those nice warm (not too warm) days.

Currently trying to rephrase and beef up my cover letter for a job posting I seen for a different desk in our healthcare system. Not holding much hope for it, but I gotta try It's still only part-time...but more days than I am currently working.

Off to find more papers to shuffle
