Something About Nothing............ #14

It finally happened. I tried the test seat at Forbidden Journey and couldn’t get the restraints all the way down. Looks like I am starting a weight loss program when I get back home.
TM told me years ago when I failed once that I was slouching. :p “are you my mother in disguise?” Trick is to slide your butt down the back of the seat. I have a habit of leaving air space in between.

Sue - glad to hear you got a prompt appointment !

ok, there it goes. The implosion was ”a disaster” bad pun aside…

pre implosion, as in the implosee (is that a word) is supposed to be wired to just crumble straight down. not quite

bigger tower is nearly 800 feet

smaller one went first

Ok, so it went to the left.

Very glad to live up and over the first ridge of the mountain, would never have known anything happened. feel bad for those who were definitely inconvenienced

Main route is still closed due to fallen power lines, 90 degree plus temps today, so many without electricity. This is 8 am btw, beautiful sunny day

smaller stack, located directly across the street from where one of my DS is working PT. He had left at 6 am. I do question the collective IQs of those in this picture

The other stack blew thru a concrete wall at the far end of the property. Less than 30 feet from where people were line up in their chairs watching the proceedings.

Road closures turned an hour round trip into the city into a 5.5 one for me today re a medical appt in the afternoon. Would be nice if they do clear the roads by the morning & reopen.

the “well respected” company that did the actual implosion has blamed things on wind gusts. We had been marveling at how muggy it was so early in the AM beforehand, with no breeze to speak of.

oh well, the important thing is nobody got hurt.

Wow, so much near those smoke stacks to not see damage, Keisha. Even though left those without power, you are right, glad no one got hurt.

Thunder was loud, and phone flashed lightning in area more than once. No need for us to be out this Friday night.

Trip report (more or less) - we had a great time at Universal Hollywood. Several of the rides are the same as Orlando. I miss the Minions in 3D, but is such a cute show that I will always watch it. I also miss Brendan Frasier in the Mummy ride. The Kung Fu Panda was a bit of a letdown. It was just motion seats that did a lot of vibrating. The Secret Life of Pets was cute, but a very slow moving ride.
We enjoyed meeting the Scooby gang (minus Daphne) and some of then classic monsters. Of course, the highlight of the day for me was Olivanders. I did not expect to get picked. There was a cute child and 2 people celebrating birthdays in our group. I guess a 55 year old who just earned a bachelor’s degree was a bit of a novelty.
The studio tour was fun. There were a couple of parts that were in 3D that were cool. We also stopped by a very familiar place.

IMG_9073.jpeg

We also walked through Nintendo World, but didn’t ride Mario Kart because there was a 2 hour wait.
Pictures soon.

The escalator wasn’t as bas as I had feared. i should say escalators because there were 4 of them.

Crikey Keisha, someone didn`t do their job properly there, that shouldn`t happen at all, how terrifying for folks so close. Although to be honest, with tower that tall, folks should have been much further back than they were. They`re very lucky no one was killed or seriously injured.

The clear up will take much longer than it should have needed to take. But, it is quite something to see for sure.

Charade, nice to see the Psycho part of the tour, that always looked like a lot of fun.

Up with the larks this morning for no real reason other than it looks gorgeous out there. Did a long white wash last night so it was ready to be put out on the line this morning with second load of colours to go next. Tom thinks I`m a bit batty to be honest!

Washing will dry in no time. I might have a clear out of the laundry cupboard this morning, I have far too many towels, but that`s a good thing I think, can`t really have too many fluffy towels all fresh as I do rotate their use. Yes, maybe I am a bit batty!

English muffins with avocado and bacon this morning for breakfast, full tea service set out as always, lunch I have no idea what we`ll have and dinner is going to be spicy chicken, ginger, pineapple, mushroom and green onion stir fry with spicy plum and sezchuan mix of sauces, Tom the same but minus the ginger. I have some stir fry noodles to add too. And Tom fancies making some Sangria which really means I make the pitchers up!! I am better at the mix than he is to be fair.

So a perfect and lazy Saturday.......apparently I use those words a lot........ ::yes:: will watch some tv when the qualifying is on for the Grand Prix other than that I hope to be outside with my husband again today.

Have a WONDERFUL Saturday ☺️

Another beautiful day in high 80s here. Front coming thru in early evening will drop us into norms of 70s next week

We also walked through Nintendo World, but didn’t ride Mario Kart because there was a 2 hour wait.
Pictures soon.
:earseek:Folks either Gaga over it (my family) or it tends to be a meh in most cases. We are decidedly in the first camp. Youngest DS can’t wait for the MCO ver. He’s tossing out hints galore for west coast trip for us next year to also work in a hockey game

Score on the wand experience. How do you think that version of Hp stacks up to original ?

Yum all the way around. Youngest coming for late breakfast on way out to grab supplies for belated 30th BD bash for his friends.

Wound up making shrimp creole yesterday after all the commotion. All the prep work done in the am, came together in under an hour. leftovers today. Will be a carb fest for sure. Along with pasta um trying

The mr decided to try to grow garlic. Prob sick of me moaning that nice heads were difficult to find during pandemic. ‘scapes’ emerged from the plants that he cut. At first I thot he said snape, as in professor

never heard of them :confused3Look like green onion shoots. Supposedly a quick sauté in olive oil and they make a great sauce for pasta. We shall see what we shall see.

Nice weekend, shout out to Mac

Nice weather!!! We have mid 60`s.....not bad for June on the East Coast.....nice enough to sit out in the sunshine which has been lovely today.

You know we are firmly in the No to Mario camp....lol......never been interested in it, but I will say I look forward to the new park as everything Universal do, they do it well. Could be a converted family here.....not sure though!

Interesting with the garlic, we have never grown that, I am going to cut some salad onions our gardener has planted for us, they are red on the bottom and look lovely, will do that this afternoon and use them in the stir fry tonight. But, hope they`re nice for you.....

One of our trees nearer the house had flowered but not like it usually does, it`s usually a pinkish flower, but this is beautiful, I hope the bees like it.

Smells like jasmine and honeysuckle.

Sitting in the sunshine enjoying a gorgeous day, had the laptop out to do some Trip Report and all my washing was dry before lunch, so I did get that all ironed and put away, so nothing else to do today except make up some sangria in a little while.....Tom is starting to hint he could go a glass!! It`s 5 o clock somewhere!

Listening to 70`s and 80`s music now.......nice!

Good Saturday morning everyone

So right, these days you have to be your own advocate. Making sure everything is done. Glad you stood your ground at GI office. These young receptionists just seem like they aren’t well trained.
Your dinner sounds great. I love lasagna! I can tell you MonyK is doing well! We had a lovely visit when she was up in my area!
Glad to hear Monyk is doing well and you had a nice visit. Good to hear you did get your surgeon visit scheduled. Continued good thoughts and prayers being sent your way.

Hope they can sort your meds out, one of my best friends is going through some medical issues right now and finding the most suitable med for her is proving to be complicated to due to some other issues she has, it`s trial and error for now. But, hope you get a fix soon.

And enjoy lunch with your DiL.....always nice to spend time with family and friends.
Thank you. I will say a prayer for your friend that she can get the meds she needs figured out.

i’m annoyed. Found out new ordinance in town, have to pay for a permit to hire a dumpster roll off to be delivered. Just another nuisance fee. Was mostly put out having to run to office to grab the permit, fill it out, then had to run to bank to pay the fee. They only take cash. Um, sounds shady bookkeeping to me. Hmmph
Sounds like a money grab everywhere you turn these days.

Nice picture of a clean sand beach.

Our transportation from the hotel.
Looks like an old trolley.

Our friends arrived with the dogs and we headed up into the woods which were lovely as it wasn`t too hot in there and we walked for a couple of hours.
What beautiful scenery. The arched tree tunnel and water looks like something that would be in the Shire. Beautiful.

We went to Olivander’s and I was chosen for the wand ceremony.
Congrats on getting chosen at Ollivanders. Your wand is very nice. Now you can cast your spells with a wand that chose you.

Thank you for sharing your vacation photos.

Main route is still closed due to fallen power lines, 90 degree plus temps today, so many without electricity. This is 8 am btw, beautiful sunny day
Wow……..What a mess. Who is going to have to eat the cost of all the damage and downed power lines from the so called implosion debacle? The Professional Explosive company or the local tax payers. It looks a right mess. The home owners near the smoke stacks were I’am sure upset with the cloud debris not to mention everyone who lost power.

Sounds like you are having pool lounging weather in your area.

Sending continued prayers for Mac.

Sun is shining this morning. Supposed to be 91 today. It was 91 yesterday. If it had not been for the occasional Northeasterly breeze it would have been miserable. Summer is here.

Need to do some work on my desk in my office. It seems to be a catch all for everything.

I‘am going to try and set a week for trip to Universal this summer. Grandson said he would like to go. So need to get working on that.

Not much else planned for the day.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday doing whatever it is that makes you happy.

Ah nothing like helping your DH in the early morning. That cold front has arrived for us. Cloudy and cooler day, 74 degrees the high, with wind at 22 mph. A hold on to your hat day.

A lazy Saturday for me.

Great pictures from Hollywood park Charade. Thanks for sharing. Looks like great weather too.

Ooh Keisha the cook today.

Super Duper Happy Saturday. Yay the first one in June.

OMGosh, I can't believe that the implosion was done So Close to housing and people and power lines!!!
Wow. Can I ask if you live in the US? I've never heard of anything like this arounde here. I watched one major implosion one time. It was on live TV in Las Vegas and was a casino. It fell straight down without any fuss. I can't imagine this all happening. So glad you are alright.

Charade, nice to see the Psycho part of the tour, that always looked like a lot of fun.
Dh took the pictures for me. I wish he had gotten one of “Norman” walking towards us while holding a knife.

I am not a Nintendo fan, but thought the area was very well done. It’s not very large, but very colorful and animated. I would have ridden the Mario Kart ride if the wait time had been lower.

HP was almost identical to Orlando. I think Orlando might be a bit more spacious though.

Looks like an old trolly.
It is.

Today we are visiting the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Dh’s choice.

@disneyseniors Thanks. I have vertigo that kicks in occasionally. Hadn’t been on a coaster since the morning, went on veloptorcoaster first thing where lanyard flew off ugh. Was quite a day. Fall was after dinner while I was looking up at the sky. Venus was very bright and caught my attention!

@Charade67 what a cute bus! I’ve yet to go to Universal there! Lucky you getting chosen for wand!

@schumigirl beautiful photos of trail.

@Pumpkin1172 ive been scheduled 6/9 for surgeon! I think it’s all good. Receptionist at surgeons office seems quite competent! She told me she phoned and spoke to my doctor directly! Surgeon seems to get a lot of OR time. They phoned me yesterday to ask me to come in at 8:30 am (instead of 2:00) because OR just gave them more OR blocks. Dr will be in surgery that day so they’re fitting me in before surgeries.

@Lynne G Beautiful beach! Are you going in the water? Too bad daughter forgot to put on sunscreen but lucky it doesn’t sound too bad. We have the Hawaiian Tropic after sun aloe cream. Love it for the summer, so hydrating.

@keishashadow Yikes! The big stack looked like it would hit a house! Those photos are crazy! Bet the news is having a field day with this story! Glad no one was hurt. Very scary.

@schumigirl dinner sounds nice. We’re having Bro-in-law and lady friend over plus a mutual friend of the family who is separated I think a year now. Not sure if divorced yet. I don’t ask. We’re having bbq German sausages, Korean ribs, potato salad made, coleslaw with apple. Blueberry pie and they're bringing a dessert too. No idea what.
I’m not a fan of Mario either so we’ll see!

@keishashadow youll have to tell how garlic came out. I tried last year, and was a bust. Tiny heads. May try again this year.

Nice sunny day here, getting hot this week. Oldest was talking about going to the local lake beach sometime this week.
I have a few things going on Sunday lunch with friends to discuss camping trip next weekend they managed to hyjack me for Lol. Then Thursday neighbourhood dinner at the golf club. About 25 ladies, we met when our kids were in elementary school and for years we’ve been getting together for an annual dinner. Catching up with everyone’s news.
And of course Friday early morning surgeon appt. Then whisked off for 2 day camp! Me thinks they’re trying to distract me.

Today at noon oldest daughter & I are having pedicures I’m not bothering with mani as can’t have nail polish on for surgery.

Thank you, we are lucky to have the sea in front of us 5 minutes away and some glorious wooded areas around us, that area is definitely somewhere they could film something like that as it very mysterious at times.

Hope you had a lovely relaxing day and enjoy that weather!

That would have made a fabulous picture. There are pictures online of Jim Carey coming out to scare the tram tour guests as he was dressed like Norman and brandishing a knife, I’d love to have seen that!

Yes, I think they’ll do Mario well, I just have no clue who the characters are, Kyle was never interested in it, so it’ll all be new to us.

Managed to pick some salad onions tonight from our garden, they are very tasty as we’ve just had some in the stir fry……they are quite peppery too which is nice. I can only thank our gardener as he has grown them, I am not green fingered at all and neither is Tom.

And for tonight…….

One friend thinks it’s sacrilege to use such a good brandy for sangria……but what the heck, you want the good stuff not cheap alcohol that’ll give you a headache next morning. I think this may be the first of two as we are enjoying one right now outside as it’s such a gorgeous evening, this has been one of the nicest days this week and think tomorrow might be the same. Got to be outside while it’s so nice.

Should be in soon as it will cool down once the sun goes down, hopefully we’ll find a good movie to watch tonight.

And a good Sunday morning from a not so sunny UK. Well certainly where we are today, it`s very dull, grey and not at all warm so the complete opposite of yesterday.

Lazy morning, yep I do use lazy and perfect a lot.......it`s funny what folks notice......we had bacon and a poached egg on a lovely toasted roll, very filling breakfast. On our second pot of tea and trying a nice new one too.

Cooking a rib of beef for dinner tonight, as it`s cooler will make some creamy mash to go with it and some roast veg, sounds a very winter like dish, but will do nicely tonight.

Spanish Grand Prix this afternoon, so that`ll pass a couple of hours, hope it`s a good one and will do a conditioning treatment on my hair and maybe a face mask just to complete the look!!! I`m glad my husband loves me no matter how I look 😘

Have a lovely Sunday

Yay what a day makes too here. Gorgeous sunrise in a clear sky. Guess those clouds went somewhere else, until making it another cloudy evening. And a full moon, strawberry one, was last night. Neat to see. Us? Nope. Cloud cover thick enough a very dark overnight. And that almost a full moon will be tonight. Given the clouds to come back around dinnertime, no moon or stars to see much of tonight either. Have to look online for those who had a clear sky to see that almost pink looking full moon last night.

But hey, a mid 70’s high, and a bright blue sky for most of today? A most perfect early Spring day, not so much a late Spring one like today is. Either way, though, that any day with glorious sunshine ☀️ in that clear blue sky, is a win in my book. Rock those sunglasses time. Yay!

And that normal Sunday here, as a lazy one like Schumi. Though it’s our day to take the trash to the curb, set the alarm, and get ready for that week day routine. And maybe a visit with my sister in there too.

So a big pot of tea for me. Older one picked up tea bags that work in cold water. Eh, I’ll leave them for him. I tend to like my tea hot, and if iced, from hot tea that’s been cooled and then iced.

A most relaxing Sunday wish to all.
