Something About Nothing............ #14

Lazy Sunday afternoon. I had a nap after lunch and now dh and I are watching NASCAR.

I wish I had napped today, struggling to keep my eyes open now, and it’s barely 9.30pm.

Cold and clear night, moon looks very pretty and Venus is high in the sky, so should be another lovely day for tomorrow.

Made us a hot chocolate earlier with little marshmallows and cream, only way to have it for us. It was divine.

But early bed for us tonight, I doubt we’ll see 10pm before we’re asleep.

Eggs are all filled, and we enjoyed visiting my sister.

With yesterday being so nice out, woke up this morning too cool. Looked at the thermostat, and apparently, older one turned on the AC and forgot to turn it to the heater before he went to bed. Remedied that as DH left early this morning.

Trash at curb and soup and panini sandwiches are what little one wants for dinner. I can usually only eat half of my sandwich, as we bought nice large hoagie rolls on way home from sister’s place. So I’ll leave my other half for older one, as he’s working today. He’s not fond of soup, but we have chips, so I’m sure he’ll be fine with that. Have some nice skinless chicken breasts, so making s a BLT chicken panini. And have some fresh mozzarella to make those sandwiches perfect. Off to make dinner. Earlier, with the requested chicken rice soup, made up the soup, as have white rice leftover from our Chinese food last night, and chopped up the rest of my chicken, added baby carrots, I steamed first, and cut up a piece of celery, with some seasoning and chicken broth stock, a fast and easy meal this late dinner. I always keep both beef and chicken stock in my pantry.

Hope all have a good Sunday night. Was a beautiful blue sky today, just cool and way too windy to want to be outside much. Tomorrow, partly sunny, and 64 the high. Thankfully warmer tomorrow. But still the time of year, frost warning issued for the overnight. Yeah, we will be at freezing again tomorrow morning.

Well, another frosty and sunny morning here so a beautiful day ahead for us.

Thinking of trying to walk along the seafront this morning, but it might be just be a little too chilly, we`ll see.

Still planning to go hit the shops later for trainers and hopefully sandals, Tom needs trainers too, he always finds what he wants easier than I do, usually the first pair he tries on are fine!!

Food today.....avocado on toast for breakfast, lunch will be brie, turkey and cranberry grilled sandwiches......frequently imitated but hard to beat......and dinner will be Morrocan chicken, absolutely gorgeous dish that simmers all day, spices are wonderful and the aroma is something special. Perfect dish......yep, I do use that word a lot apparently, I never noticed till it was pointed out to me someone was using it to try and mock me, hey ho......:rotfl:

I need a new word.......:rolleyes1

And excited to hear from two of our friends later today, they fly to New York for a 6 night stay and on our recommendation they are staying at the New York Palace where we have stayed twice on some of our trips there. I`m sure they`ll love it as it is such a stunning hotel, we`ve arranged for a gift package to be in their room when they arrive with some champagne and strawberries as it is a trip for their 30 wedding anniversary. I told him he needs to copy Tom and take her to Tiffany for something nice for the anniversary.....I hope he does as she`d love that.

But, I hear sleeping beauty getting up.....hoping he does want to head out or he might take a look at the frost and snuggle back down!!! The joys of being retired.........::yes::

Have a wonderful Monday :sunny:

Marvelous Monday all. Back to routine, and at freezing, but a Southern wind is blowing, so into the 60’s we go by this afternoon. Clear now, but a good cloud cover will be the rest of our day, shortly after sunrise. Not rain clouds though.

Little one was sad no shorts on that windy cool feeling Sunday. In the 60’s by the time she gets moving? I’m sure shorts will be on. Not me yet, though.

Back to routine, and a commuting day tomorrow. May not even take a jacket tomorrow. Will be 72 by the time I take double the time to drive home, then I did to get there. But yay, short week, and a day trip instead of lazy Friday. Both little one and I are getting excited. While cold front coming at week’s end, don’t mind having a jacket on when walking those miles of city blocks. At least saying should be no rain, so happy about that. Great way to end my week day routine. Holiday week, as Passover starts Wednesday night. So will be starting the holiday with a seder dinner that night. But as we also celebrate Easter, it is nice to start next week with a holiday meal on Sunday.

Tea and screen viewing, shortly will be hearing trash trucks. And a brighter day. Still dark out. Not that predawn sky yet.

A happy and good morning for all as well.

Good Monday morning everyone

Afternoon Robbie.....sounds lovely going to sit by the pool with a book......and yes, friends in Orlando area and further afield have all mentioned how nice the weather has been.
Morning Carole, yep the weather here has been wonderful. You all should have a wonderful time when you get here. It has been plenty warm for sure.

Enjoy the pool time and hope all your family are doing well!
I did enjoy some pool time. Family is doing well. I’am looking forward to seeing them soon.

Hope you all are well. I know that you are looking forward to your trip.

True northerners don’t eat grits. Lol JK know many like them. It’s a combo of texture and taste for me…all the sugar in the world doesn’t make them palatable. I look at them and see white school paste. I will eat its cousin, polenta, if made & served properly with other Italian food & red sauce.
Grits are mostly a southern dish. If prepared right it is good. Not something I have all the time, but enjoy occasIonally. The morning grits I have are made with milk and butter.

The thing that looks like school paste to me is when people make country milk gravy to thick it looks like school paste yuck!!!!!!

We have a dish called Cornmeal Mush. It is very much like Polenta and is cooled and cut up and fried and served with syrup. I have only had it once and never again.

You are lucky to get to see the lift off's like you do!
We are still planning on a Florida trip. Dh was looking at booking a package vs separate flights/hotels using points where we can save a few extra $$$. So it is still on.....just postponed ;) which makes my heart very happy!
It is fun to be able to go out in the back yard and watch the lift offs. On a clear cloudless day we can see it for awhile.

I’am glad to hear you will be able to reschedule your trip.

Also our family birthday part planned for tomorrow has been called off because grandson is sick. I was about to make 2 pumpkin pies and am so glad I hadn't already started on them.
Sorry to hear your grandson is sick. Hope he feels better soon.

Update on granddaughter. She is fine now but went to a gastroenterologist to day and is having some tests done, so we'll see.
Hope the GI doc is able to shed some light on what is going on with your granddaughter.

House across the street from my house had a fire breakout
this morning about around 8
What a sad thing to witness.

Fire department now left
Every one but their dog were able to get out of the house.
So sad they lost their pet.

Mine has the habit of turning the TV on to something I don't care to watch, turns up the volume and then goes to sleep. It's really annoying when he puts the remote in his lap. I can't get it to lower the volume or change the channel without waking him up.
Ditto here. My hubby usually falls asleep after dinner when he is watching TV. I just let him nap, but I do try and get the remote off the table and turn down the TV.

Here is dh’s new car we picked up yesterday.
Congratulations on the new car.

It`s been a lovely Saturday......friends popped in, glad we were sorted with sangria and snacks...

Sangria looks good.

Quiet here this morning sun is just coming up. Supposed to be 85 today.

Need to go out and pick up a birthday present today.

I prepped some baby back ribs last night so I will put them in the crockpot and the ribs will cook all day. They will fall off the bone.….LOL…when you get old you don‘t want to fight for your food so fall off the bone is good.

I saw this add pop up on the Dis.

Nothing to the imagination here…LOL.…I thought I had seen them all, but this one takes the cake…oh well.…it’s good to have a sense of humor about these things.

Need to get moving this morning.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone.

Laugh, enjoy life and do whatever it is that makes you happy.

There’s nothing quite like a walk in the sunshine beside the sea…….

We did get out a walk, left early and it was so quiet down there, we thought with it being the Easter holidays folks might be already down, but I guess 8am might be a little early for some.

It was so beautiful, chilly but the sun is quite warm, this was just after 8 this morning.

Then we did go shopping for new trainers and managed to get a pair each, I picked up a pair of sandals with a wedge I liked, so they’ll be ideal.

Off to have lunch, we are starving….all that fresh sea air does give one an appetite.

Enjoy seeing the beach pictures, thanks Schumi.

Robo, glad to see your post. Sounds like a warm day for you, and bet the house will be smelling good with the ribs cooking away. Hope you find that birthday gift, and always good to see family visiting.

Ooh I guess clouds are coming, but glorious sunshine right now. And truck noise.

Carole, your photos are beautiful. I would walk that beach every day if I was there:)
We are, once again, expecting 12 to 18 inches of snow Wednesday! It's April!! time for this to stop.
Your shoes sound nice. I think Trainers are Tennis shoes to us? I always wear Brooks tennis shoes when in Florida. They are so comfy and fit my weird feet just right, LOL.

Since we are expecting a big storm we went to the grocery store this am, along with 5000 other people!
I have never seen it so crowded. Then I remembered it is the first of the month and with checks for the Native Americans and senior citizen payments, along with the coming storm, is the reason. We could hardly walk through the store. We usually avoid the store/town at the first of the month. It's amazing how overcrowded it can get.

We are ready to stay in and be warm for the duration.
My grandson is still sick but getting better. I think he has caught every bug there is since he moved to Fargo, N. dakota.

Just a side note on a previous discussion: About grits. We lived in the deep south for years, and I just couldn't get into eating grits. I tried them every way that southerns said to try and still didn't like them. I also doused them in milk and sugar and that didn't work. I think it's the texture and taste. I grew up in the North, so grits were foreign to me.

Happy Monday:)

Chiming in on the grits: I don't like them either and I've tried them every way there is. I lived in the South for years and still couldn't eat them. I do think it is the texture and taste.

Heck!! I`m glad I don`t see any ads on the Dis if that`s what they`re showing!!! Yes, if you can`t laugh.....

Thanks Robbie......yes, we are looking forward to getting back to some real heat, you`re very lucky to live in such a beautiful place and with the weather too....

We love ribs and yes, cooked properly they are perfection and so tasty!! I don`t make them often enough.

Have a great day and glad the family are all doing better :)

Thanks Ruth, we are so lucky to be within a few minutes of the beach and try to walk it as often as we can weather permitting and knee permitting of course recently......lol.....but we did 5 miles today which as a first time out in a while was bliddy good!!

Yes, tennis shoes are trainers to us, another little language difference between us......yes, someone needs to write a letter, an angry letter and let someone know it`s time the snow disappeared for the year! You`ve had more than enough.

That does sound a busy store!! But, hope you got stocked up.

Your grandson will be better before you know it, kids do get over things better than we do.

Yep, no grits here either! It`s funny we know a lot of folks from the South and not one of them eats Grits......definitely a love em or hate em dish.

We are loving this beautiful weather.......the sun is still shining bright and just a stunning evening. We opened the bifold doors in the kitchen again, but they`re closed now as it does start to chill down a little now it`s 6pm, but beautiful. And tomorrow is to be the same.

Ended up not having Morrocan chicken, Tom said he fancied pork fillet, so made a nice and spicy honey, mustard and soy marinade and served it with stir fried Bok Choy, green onion, mushrooms, courgette (zucchini) and red pepper, nice and spicy and very filling.

Tea and some butter cake coming up.....I think Tom is brewing a pot right now, well I hope he is.

We did plan to go to Scotland last minute tomorrow, but the hotel is fully booked so we`ll go up next week once Easter is over.....so another walk tomorrow and I plan to make up a load of flourless chocolate cakes, cut them into squares and hand them into Kyle`s office as an Easter treat, they all love chocolate.

Yep, tea is here......🫖

schumi your mum will be thrilled to see you and Tom!
wishing safe travels for your trip next week.

Not as warm as predicted today but think it is tomorrow when temps will be 80 and wednesday predicted at 85

We have three cat genies for the indoor cats
It’s a cat toilet in a way.
One bag broke when I was changing them
What a mess cleaning it all up.
(it’s a contraption to hold waste matters and its air tight)
No fuss and never could know there are cats in the house.

Hope all the homies are having a great day!

Good evening all. Moon is high in the not much overcast sky.

No jacket needed as went out to walk down to our little town center, for a late dinner pick up. Have leftover for DH and older one. Both coming home later tonight. Lucky them. Hehe, food already made and ready.

I’m full, and now enjoying evening tea and watching whatever, with trying to do a little of my crazy bright color and very funny looking characters with shades on, puzzle.

Ah that drive in the predawn darkness. But clear roads and clear sky. While a bit cool when I left, but warm enough with it being 48 degrees. No jacket. 77 degrees when I come home. And gloriously sunny time at lunchtime will be at 70 degrees, so perfect weather to take my lunchtime walk.

Thus, a most beautiful day for Mac to do her Taco Bell meal. Taco Tuesday is here.

Yes that’s right, pick any type of filling, and enjoy a taco 🌮 or two today. It’s a Terrific Taco Tuesday. Hope it is for all.

Ooh tea water from a bottle. Ah happy homie tea drinking even in her office.

Nice weather mac……..you always win that one………:D

Much later than usual this morning posting…….our internet was down this morning, nightmare times!!

But, we just headed out a walk as it is stunningly beautiful again today, and one of those days that makes you glad to live beside the seaside……

We did notice yesterday and again today a high volume of aircraft, but seems like they’re back to training more pilots from looking at all the turns they’re making and all over the ocean…….just in case ::yes::

Further on in our walk they had more or less disappeared but when we got back to our village we counted 11 vapour trails from planes, quite something to see again. We missed the fishermen coming back in today, always good to see their catch.

That`s a view!!!!

5 miles walked again today, it is so beautiful, quite the perfect day.

Got a friend coming for lunch today, so I made 2 quiches, a chicken, bacon and leek one and the other one is mushroom one which is her favourite, they turned out nice, will serve with some salad and coleslaw. Once she leaves I`m baking a load of flourless chocolate cakes for Kyle`s office.

And just enjoy this glorious sunshine although it is chilly we`ll open the bi-fold doors for the afternoon, chat and listen to music while I bake......Tom will just take in the aroma and try to avoid him nibbling on some of them!!! Another chocaholic.......

Dinner tonight will be quiche if there`s any left, if not I`m going to make Southern Fried Chicken pieces, baked in the oven and some salad too.

And tea....copious amounts of tea.

Quick good morning. Somehow I am ready for work earlier than usual. That rarely happens. Tomorrow morning I can start making dining reservations for Disneyland. There are only a couple I want. We plan to do most of our eating at the quick serve restaurants.

Then we did go shopping for new trainers and managed to get a pair each, I picked up a pair of sandals with a wedge I liked, so they’ll be ideal.
That reminds me, I have a new pair of sandals I bought at the end of summer. I need to start breaking them in before our trip.

I think Trainers are Tennis shoes to us?
It's funny the different words we have for the same things even in different parts of the same country. I grew up calling them tennis shoes, but somewhere along the way I switched to calling them sneakers.

Almost time to go to work.

She’ll be over the moon when I tell her, glad I didn’t tell her it might be this week, but will call her later to tell her our hotel is booked.

Have a wonderful Tuesday :sunny::sunny::sunny:

Good Tuesday Morning:)

If Mac wins the good weather award, I am sure to win the crappy weather award, LOL. It's starting to snow and will continue until Thursday morning. They say we will get an inch or more an hour!!! I hope not because I'm already depressed about this snowstorm!

Just wanted to say that you and Tom impress me with being able to walk 5 miles a day! That is fantastic! And you with knees that bother you. The beach area is such a beautiful place to walk. I love the photos.

My daughter and granddaughter are leaving Friday for a short trip to Phoenix, Az. It's a mom and daughter trip before Grace graduates this Spring. I envy them the 80 degree weather and seeing that beautiful part of the country for the first time. They will also meet some cousins that they haven't seen since childhood. However, my granddaughter booked them an experience without telling her Mom. She booked them Yoga with goats!!! YEP, goats. Robin doesn't really want to do yoga with goats,, whatever that is, but Grace was so excited and proud to book it herself that she is going to do it. It should be hilarious. I guess the goats climb on their backs or something? 'They are also going to Sedona and hiking some trails there, and the rest of the time will be enjoying the sun and pool.

Hope you had a nice lunch with your friend:)

your frozen friend, ruth

Finally getting to stop in :wave2:

Busy weekend working at the healthcare job - and it seems like I get the weekend shifts where things so sideways with zero downtime to deal with situations that require more than 5 minutes attention.

The winds of change happened at my main job. The vice president made a surprise visit, manager was given a three week leave to seek some help...and things are starting to move forward again. The reset button has been pushed - so it feels better today knowing what will happen going forward. I hope that our manager seeks the help he needs - but the ball is in his court now.

Then last night had a super weird incident happen, just as I was thinking about heading to bed. Had some young girl who was running for her boyfriend knock on our door. Which resulted in dh and I driving her to the women's shelter to seek protection. I spoke with her, and hope she will take the words to heart that I spoke. She was hurt, frightened and many other feelings.

I didn't sleep much knowing that we seen her boyfriend's truck out scoping the neighbourhood and driving past the house MULTIPLE times.

It's another cool, overcast day here. At least the forecast for the weekend sounds promising for some warmer weather.

5 miles walked again today, it is so beautiful, quite the perfect day.
Beautiful pictures!!!!
Quick good morning. Somehow I am ready for work earlier than usual. That rarely happens. Tomorrow morning I can start making dining reservations for Disneyland. There are only a couple I want. We plan to do most of our eating at the quick serve restaurants.
OOOOOO fun!!!!! I hope you get the reservations you are wanting.

Well, I should get to more paper shuffling.

Have a great day everyone!

That reminds me, I have a new pair of sandals I bought at the end of summer. I need to start breaking them in before our trip.

It's funny the different words we have for the same things even in different parts of the same country. I grew up calling them tennis shoes, but somewhere along the way I switched to calling them sneakers.

Almost time to go to work.

Glad to hear you can get your reservations sorted soon......it`s a fun time with all your graduation plans for both of you.......

Yes, I need to wear these a little too before we go, they are very comfortable.

Oh Ruth you and Pumpkin certainly win with the cold and snow!!!!

The knee is much better thanks Ruth, getting there......we used to walk anywhere between 6 and 10 miles a day along the beach, but with the knee and the cold it hasn`t happened for the longest time, but we love it......hand in hand too....lol......I always remember walking with Tom and my friends granddaughter when she was about 4 and she saw us hand in hand and asked us if we were scared of one of us wandering off......she is so funny!!! I do like holding hands still. It is beautiful though, I`m glad you liked the pictures.

I can`t believe you still have snow!!! Hopefully soon you`ll be planning your trip to Tennessee into some sunshine!!

I think Raeven, who writes TR`s did goat yoga once, I think she enjoyed it. Hope they do too....I`m not really a goat fan, unless it`s in a curry...... :rotfl:

But, it sounds like a lovely place to visit for them, they`ll have a wonderful time I`m sure.

Lunch was lovely thanks, made 2 large quiches as she loves them, and we still had some left for dinner. I don`t see her often as she is so busy, so we take the chance when we get it and today worked out well. A few hours of chatting away was lovely.

Keep warm Ruth........I send you some warm glows.......☀️

Finally getting to stop in :wave2:

Busy weekend working at the healthcare job - and it seems like I get the weekend shifts where things so sideways with zero downtime to deal with situations that require more than 5 minutes attention.

The winds of change happened at my main job. The vice president made a surprise visit, manager was given a three week leave to seek some help...and things are starting to move forward again. The reset button has been pushed - so it feels better today knowing what will happen going forward. I hope that our manager seeks the help he needs - but the ball is in his court now.

That must have been very disconcerting to have that experience with the young lady, and very good of you both to look after her, sounds like she will be looked after hopefully and avoid the boyfriend in the future. Yes, don`t blame you for not sleeping well after that.

Hope the job keeps going in a good direction for you, and glad you liked the pictures!

Been a busy day.......baked, had a lovely lunch with my friend and then spent all afternoon baking the chocolate cakes, will drop them in tomorrow. Also got 2 loads of laundry washed, out on the line, dried, ironed and put away.....love days like this for laundry. That sun is warm but chilly when you`re in the shade.

Had some extra quiche tonight, made some more coleslaw and salad and called that dinner, it was lovely. Quiche is not something I have very often but these fresh farm eggs do make it rather lovely.

I think tonight will be another early night, the sea air does make one tired!!! And internet has been on and off all day!!! Nightmare......

Think Tom is popping the tv on in the sitting room, will go see what`s on.....hopefully something funny!!

Oh Pumpkin, scary, but glad you helped her. Good to hear manager seeking treatment. You have been busy.

Ruth, you win the most snow award. While I have seen snow in April here, only one year I removed it happening when I was much younger. No other times, though snow in March more likely.

Confirmed the other day, PA, DE and NJ all had tornados, with sadly a loss of one life in DE, and damaged houses, loss of electricity, and down trees. Train out to middle of PA was cancelled due to damage on tracks. Train back running last night. What a storm we had this weekend. Weather news channel saying tornado alley is moving East. We usually don’t see very strong tornadoes. But last year, very close to me, had a 2 go by. Killed a lady in the town next to us.

Ooh eating at a local taco place. Yum,
