Something About Nothing............ #14

timthumb.php

Ruth, I`m sending you a cute snow plough........::yes::

We have the most gorgeous day, but it`s still a little breezy and cool, not cold.

Picked up some cleaning products this morning, didn`t need anything else and then the butcher for our order and hardware store for something to do with the man cave shed we have...I never asked!

Had spicy chicken thighs with salad for lunch and doing pork fillet for dinner tonight, doing a Hoisin flavour one tonight with some spice of course and stir fried noodles with some chinese style veg too.

Got a few things to do this afternoon and organise our next book group, it`s like herding cats!!

Off to sit in the sunshine streaming into the kitchen sofas and enjoy another pot of tea with a scone, butter and cherry preserve.

need to do a drive by today to snatch my grand-cats. Hope they don’t claw me to shreds Whilest we stuff them in their respective carriers. should go well We use heat-resistant, thick elbow length gloves used when working around the furnace at my DH’s job. Feels like arms encased in cement sort Of thing. Jr is heading to Phoenix to visit college roommate & the Furries are mine, all mine till Tuesday!

remind me of my excitement in a few days when I mention my allergy to cats flaring up lol

grabbed a pork loin yesterday, will cut it down to thick pork chops & stuff them for dinner afterwards. The mr will get chicken, no pork for him.

It`s all free range farmed Boar so you know what you`re getting flavour wise.....I think it`s more like game than anything else, I don`t even think it`s like pork, very different.
I detest games tasting meats. When pressed to prepare, soak in vinegar solution first. want to like lamb, however, something I just can’t put my finger on there. Even pork often doesn’t sit right with me, think more so the favor/cooking process used.
My daughter just called and said my granddaughter is sick, up all night, and fainted when she got up this AM..
Aw, how’s the sickie doing today?
Oh my gosh, Hush Puppies!!!! :hippie:I absolutely love them.
Those from the south will shudder, ala my cornbread, off my plate unless they are sweet
I never deal with certain things like the trash......nah, he does all that, but we do share the housework
Same, DH often kids me saying it’s the only reason I married him

Nobody is going hungry in your house. Here, the mr & DS still snoozing. i’m at the point where I’m just going to make myself some toast and they can fend for themselves. Things to do, places to go :)

Ooh grand cats. Enjoy Janet. Though no cats nor plants in my house. Almost was a deal breaker when after married, when DH said he was very allergic to cat dander. What? Though happily, even though I love cats, I also love dogs. And none in my family are allergic to dog dander. Older one was diagnosed with his allergic asthma reaction to pollen when he was 3. Was told he may outgrow it. Um, he’ll be 26. Nope. And DH got shots when he was a teen, to help with his allergy, but still to this day, he is very allergic.

Ooh the downpour noise again. Yeah, a wet morning are us, though news said not a big amount of rain. So far, even with those downpours, only measuring less than a quarter inch.

And woot! Think connectivity is finally not skipping out and not working. Did complain to internet provider. They said they would push updates. Guess that’s why it took some time to have all work right. Eh, nothing like a wet morning to have issues. Though stove working fine, and teapot is hot again, as need more tea. Going to be that kinda day.

But another woot! Alarm turned off. Hoping no umbrella for my lunchtime walk.

:rotfl:

I love pork, we do eat it a lot in our home, but those Boar sausages are not my favourite thing, I don`t mind a little bit of venison, but won`t eat a lot. Tom loves game meat.

Lamb we love.....really love!!! I have a leg of lamb for this weekend, but it does tend to shrink a lot, so you think you have loads and you really don`t....will cook it in red wine, chicken stock, a jar of cranberry sauce, garlic, black pepper, shallots, thyme and lots and lots of rosemary. But, I know some folks are funny with lamb, my mum for example loves the taste but hates the smell.......I always smell it as sweet, but I always think back to cilantro...so many love it, we taste soap....lol.......

I love cornbread too!!!

Yep, I feed us well, which is why I`ll never be slim!!! And toast.....who doesn`t love toast.....when all of us are poorly, we all look for that when asked what we want......::yes::

Still gorgeous and sunny here today.....we did open the bifold doors in our kitchen fully today for about half an hour......then the wind changed direction, so closed them up again and went back to just enjoying the sun.

It`s a couple of hours till dinner, so I think I need a snack.....bought some pink lady fizzy apples at the farm store, so might have one of them.......better for us than spicy doritos, just not as much fun!

So tea time for now......... 🫖

Thanks, Keishashadow, for asking about the granddaughter. She is still sick but starting to eat broth - still very weak. It seems she catches any bug that comes by. But at least she is sipping water and we brought her some chicken dumpling soup today.

It`s something I`ve never tried to make over here for some reason, it`s nice he does enjoy cooking though.

Tom and I are quite traditional too....I never deal with certain things like the trash......nah, he does all that, but we do share the housework, he had his own house when we met so he was already very good at that kind of stuff, but I`m the cook. He can cook, but like you I prefer to do it and I am better at it and enjoy it more than he does, so it makes sense.

lol....it`s quite a long story, but I`ll try and write it out one day, I did share it with mac and Janet at the time and it did spook us a little....but didn`t really stop us mooching around places we fancy.

And yes, I never did go back on the slopes....I`m bad enough walking across regular snow!!!

And a very good Thursday morning from a slightly windy place this morning, sun is briliant though and no rain due till tonight, we will be fighting the breeze when we head out though.

Grocery shopping, then the usual stops in at the butcher, baker and not quite a candlestick maker but will pop into our village for a few things after we hit the grocery store for the things like cleaning products and so on.

Won`t be going far today in this breeze.......but Thirsty Thursday is here.......🍸

Have a fabulous Thursday :goodvibes
Your posts always make me laugh and brighten my day:)

My granddaughter is sipping water and I took her some chicken dumpling soup so maybe she can eat some of it. She is very weak but not as sick to the stomach. Of all my grandkids, she is the one who catches every bad bug that comes around ! I don't know why that happens to some people.
My son was the one who always got sick, and my daughter never did. Not fair I guess.

I tried to copy a quote but for some reason (not tech savvy or smart apparently), I can't get how to do a quote. So I always just download the whole thing. You can tell me, I promise I won't be too insulted

Ruth, it`s just as easy to quote the whole post sometimes......don`t worry about that.

Some people just seem to be unlucky with bugs and viruses and it`s hard to watch them be so poorly. I`m sure the little one will be back on her feet soon, chicken dumpling soup will have her on her feet soon enough and lots of hugs and care from mum and grandma.

Glad to brighten your day :goodvibes

Finally we have a warm sunny day!
And hope all of you will have warm weather real soon!

Sounds good mac!! I`m glad yours is improving now, you`ll be enjoying that heat every day soon enough! I`m hoping April is drier and warmer than March has been so far.

Spicy hoisin pork was delicious. Didn`t bother with the stir fry noodles in the end as we had plenty of stir fried veg to go with the pork, loads of Bok Choy, bean shoots, red bell peppers, green onions, ****ake and enoki mushrooms and loads of garlic, ginger and spice! I never put broccoli or carrots in a stir fry......not for me.

Another early night planned for us I think...🛌

There was blood 🧛‍♂️drawn packing up the kitties. Now, settling in. all my children showed up for dinner, surprise! o_O Have enough to go around, thankfully

Need to tailor a track shirt for GD before they are done socializing with each other. Loudly lol. Taking a breather before I figure out how to taper that jersey, the small fits like a large:confused3

Ruth good to hear ur lil is taking liquids. Sounds like her immune system is a bit stressed.

Going to tackle the hhn thread tomorrow, just too tired today.

Cliff notes version:

Info rolling out as expected,
Same number of houses,
dates of same pattern with exception of what appears to be a sell out day or two
&
prices are higher
👻 boo

One prediction, hotel rates will accordingly jump. I’ve nothing yet booked. Even tho it was a decidedly off version last year, not sure why I'm Dragging my feet so this year. :confused3 Likely 3rd weekend of month for us.

Ooh I hope to say hi to ya then, Keisha. Patiently waiting for that frequent fear ticket. Counted, can go 7 times, during my 2 week stay, so makes sense to buy that type of ticket. I feel like I dodged a bullet, booking RPR, at a rate that I never seen since I got it last November. Hope you decide when can get an AP rate.

Ruth sending more good thoughts and well wishes mummy dust to your granddaughter. A shame she gets sick so often. Good she is staying hydrated and home now. I hope she recovers quickly.

Ooh waffles and ice cream for a late dinner? Sure little one. Chocolate waffles too? Yep, we have them in our freezer. Hehe. That’s because we had a late big lunch. Little one made chicken with peppers, mac and cheese, steamed carrots and broccoli, with donuts that she picked up after dropping off stuff I needed her to do. I was stuffed and don’t need a big dinner.

Thanks, Keisha, she is able to eat the soup, so we are making progress. It just takes a little while, and she is impatient to get back to her classes.

Finally getting a chance to stop in!!!

It's been a busy few days. I picked up a few shifts at the healthcare job. I am waiting to hear if I will be moving into the position that opened in our department which would equal more days in the healthcare job. I wasn't expecting to be able to move into another position so soon. Now to sit and wait.

We had to pull the plug on our April Florida trip  The dates we had booked, are not working with the timelines for dh's work projects for him to be gone. I am hoping that we will be able to rebook it soon. Dh came out of the bedroom last night - after he was supposed to be going to sleep - and was talking about how he couldn't wait to go back to KSC after watching a show on Discovery. So fingers crossed we rebook soon.

We have a lot of Wild Boar products in deli`s over here, mostly from France.
That's awesome! It is not common here, but there are a few places if you go to farmer's markets and places like that. We have tried a few. It's not for me either, but the boys and dh like the odd thing we have tried.
Wanted to share this re new SW coaster that they started human testing…I’m tapping out! o_O
That would be a hard NO from me as well! Nope....nope nadda, not happening lol
WEll, I'm still here under 6 more inches of snow! Roger spent about an hour blowing the snow down our long driveway and 2 turnarounds, path to the bird feeder (they have to eat too), and to the trash cans. Whew! I told him he needs to hire it out next year, but he actually loves doing it. It has hand warmers and is automatic with different speeds so it's not too hard on him, just has to walk:)
YIKES!!! I'm waiting for that last spring snow storm to hit here. It is that heavy wet snow at this time of year. Mother Nature always has to give northern peeps that last blast of snow before true spring arrives. I'm sure we are only on spring #3 of the 10 Winter/Spring hurrahs. You know what I'm talking about ::yes::

Have a great Friday everyone!!!!!

Lynne can you give me a heads up if you see the frequent fear pass before I do?

We put the ac on today when it reached 81.
I rather open up windows but I was outvoted an hour ago

Sounds fabulous mac, your weather is so beautiful most of the year!! And that`s a nice choice to have....windows or aircon.

How lovely you had all the kids together though.......cooking and eating together is one of life`s pleasures.

Hope you got the track top sorted......kinda jealous, wish I could buy a small that fits large......lol.......

Yes, when I look to see what some folks will be paying for hotels this year.......:scared1:

Says a lot for her wonderful character she wants to get back to classes, bless her......she`ll pick up before you know it. Grandma`s soup can work wonders!

Good to see you Pumpkin and good luck with the new position!

I`m sorry your trip has been cancelled, you`ll get it rebooked before you know it. KSC has been a highlight our last few trips with Kyle and we definitely plan to go back twice this visit, it`s an amazing place. I encouraged one of our friends to go back, they haven`t been for years and were glad they did as they loved it and found the new stuff to be incredible.

I think strong game and game products are definitely an acquired taste!

Hope your day goes well tomorrow and have a lovely weekend....

Didn`t think the first four letters of a mushroom were offensive.....I just saw on my previous post they were blocked out.....oops!!! Maybe I should have changed the I to an E.....:)

And it`s Friday again, sun is shining brightly but still a little breezy for walking along the shore front.

Going out to buy another couple of duvet covers, seen a couple online I liked so will go pick them up this morning, Tom said he`s happy as long as I don`t buy any more cushions or pillows for the bed......he`s probably right!! But, it`s nice to have plenty of choices in bedding.

I don`t miss the four poster bed at all. That top canopy was awkward to get up there and clean it....not that I did it of course......but I do love this new bed and the oversized headboard looks great!

Farmers chickens have started laying properly again, so he dropped off 36 eggs last night......so I need to bake to use them up. Will send some chocolate brownies or flourless chocolate cake pieces into Kyle`s offices next week, I think we have to go in to sign something so will drop them off then. And maybe Eggs Benedict tomorrow, sounds good.

Dinner tonight will be a couple of steaks, Tom has a Porterhouse, I`ll take the filet, if it`s not too breezy he can cook them on the BBQ outside, otherwise I`ll cook them inside, either will be gorgeous!! No idea what`s for lunch.....

I don`t think we have any plans this weekend, going to be a quiet one I think.....bottle of wine and a movie I think. Although might go to the cinema during the week soon to see John Wick 4, they were very good movies despite me thinking I`d hate them.

More tea as we British always enjoy in the mornings........🫖

Have a wonderful Friday :sunny:

Fabulous Friday here. Got lightning warning last night. Rainy night, and we still are not done with the rain. It’s drizzling out, and early morning weather news said should be clearing of rain around lunchtime. So, I guess I will see if the rain ends before or after little one gets up.

Have errands to do today, as like to get them done on a week day, rather than a weekend one. Much less busy in most places, though the business traffic, is more. So many trucks I usually see.

But as a tea drinking homie, I too enjoy a mug of tea in the morning. Earl Grey is my tea this morning, as enjoy a more strong tasting tea some mornings. Mostly I stick to a black tea, in a breakfast blend I found from a tea vender in the city. Both tea kinds give me that warm feeling. And at least still warmer out. Still close to 50 this early morning. 60 the high, with a more rainy day Saturday. I like our 7 day forecast. Even with chances of rain, and mostly cloudy days, all the high temps are in the 50’s and low 60’s. Woot! Warmer days are getting more frequent. Way to end our mostly winter feeling March.

That city train whistle just sounded angry in the drizzling rain. As have two train stations close to me, hear the city train whistle every morning, starting not too long after I get up, and once in a while hear a freight train in the early hours. Very few times since I lived here, got stuck at a crossing waiting for a freight train. Thankfully, got there toward the end of the train, and was so happy when saw the caboose. Have been stopped a crossing too many times to count over my lifetime of driving here. Almost any way I go out of my street, I pass a crossing. Though by one way I go over a bridge over the tracks and another I go under a train bridge. And that close train bridge I go under, is neat, as a while ago, on the stone walls they installed long tubes of neon colored lights in patterns. So fun to see in the dark, and makes it a little brighter when in darkness.

And so, I’m up, was up before my alarm would have gone off. Took a long hot shower, that always makes me feel better. Then some cheesy scrambled eggs for DH and I. Rye toast with butter, and DH used his toast to make an egg sandwich. I don’t. Just ate together. Cut up some fruit to go with, and was good tasting breakfast.

Now I get to be lazy and enjoy watching whatever rerun or show I want to watch or for background noise. Started a puzzle, so I have a distraction.

So a most Fabulous Friday to all. May your weekend be as wonderful.

Happy Friday. I have completed all my class work for the week, so I am free for the whole weekend. I took the most ridiculous quiz last night. It was 10 questions, multiple choice. The correct answer to every single question was the first choice. I started to second guess myself, because surely they all can't be the first choice. Not the best way to arrange a quiz.

Good luck with the shoe shopping....I loathe it.
Same here. I think I would like it better if I had an average foot.

Was also happy to see that many SWA flights dropped in price (still ridiculously high)
I looked at SWA to see if I could get a lower rate, but it wasn't much lower than AA and I would have to drive 2 hours to get a SWA flight. Right now the lowest rate flights leave either super early in the morning or late at night. I guess if I have to choose I will take the early flight. I don't want to be getting to Orlando at 10:00 or 11:00 at night.

Was good news to learn a Home Goods store moving 10 miles away.
We just got one here recently, but I have not been to it yet.

We always jokingly laugh that there is a price to pay for living in paradise.
I fortunately didn't run into too many critters when I lived in Miami, but we did occasionally see palmetto bugs. Yuck. We also had some aggressive ducks that would come into our apartment complex from the nearby park.

When I was young, spent my summers in Miami. Spent hours with my youngest brother chasing and catching those little lizards.
We would get those tiny lizards in our apartment all the time. I'd rather have them than the palmetto bugs.

. I think he likes winter more than summer, which I'll never understand.
I don't get it either. I have lived all bit the first 2 years of my life in the south. Virginia is the farthest north I have lived (except for the 2 years we lived in AK) and I do not want to go any farther north.

He wanted Cracker Barrel so thats where we went. We have never been to the Cracker Barrel here before.
Cracker Barrel used to be good and consistent no matter where you went. Unfortunately lately ours has been hit or miss.

Wanted to share this re new SW coaster that they started human testing…I’m tapping out!
That's going to be a huge no from me.

One thing I adore from the South and there are many things......Hush Puppies!!!!
I am very particular about hush puppies. Generally I do not care for them, but occasionally I will find a restaurant where they are really good. The best ones I have had are from a small BBQ restaurant in the town in SC where my mother used to live.

She is still sick but starting to eat broth - still very weak. It seems she catches any bug that comes by. But at least she is sipping water and we brought her some chicken dumpling soup today.
Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Sorry you had to cancel your trip. I think a few of us will be there in September.
I haven't been to KSC since B was a baby. I did a project for my photography class there. I really should go back sometime.

Today is shoe shopping day. I am going to get some inexpensive white sneakers and bling them out in school colors. I have not decided which dress I will wear for graduation. Here are the 2 I picked out.

I am going to wear the navy one for pictures. I'm going to wear normal shoes for the photos. I discovered that I already have a pair of flats that perfectly match the lighter blue color in the navy dress.

well, that’s encouraging at least. Good luck sent your way

Oh no, another wordle mocking me lol. Is it -taki variety?
Going out to buy another couple of duvet covers
the struggle is real…not buying them, getting them back on properly after washing & drying. I only have the lightweight cotton sort. reminds me to look for sort that is a bit silky for easy manipulation
Earl Grey is my tea this morning
I like Lady Grey too, slight difference.

I’m not as anal as it sounds…only know as working on the annual thread…the multi day tix droped u/25 last year
I took the most ridiculous quiz last night. It was 10 questions, multiple choice. The correct answer to every single question was the first choice. I started to second guess myself, because surely they all can't be the first choice. Not the best way to arrange a quiz.

That’s a haul, especially as it would likely seem longer on the way back home

speaking of SWA, jik anybody does patronize them & has SAMs membership…online special today for $500 GC for $429
I don't want to be getting to Orlando at 10:00 or 11:00 at night.
my experience you are setting yourself up for the dregs of the available rooms. Still smarting from getting in @ 10 pm last fall to Portofino and being told they were oversold For 2 bedded rooms. Choice of going to a value for a night or having a cot hauled into the king room. Talk about a tight squeeze. others with 4 adults were ’in the same bed’. So strange, hope it was a fluke
fortunately didn't run into too many critters when I lived in Miami, but we did occasionally see palmetto bugs. Yuck. We also had some aggressive ducks that would come into our apartment complex from the nearby park.
Haha leave it to the south to try to make a cockroach sound elegant. I do think their frequency in southern hotels is due to clueless guests leaving the sliders open though…nothing a monthly spraying won’t cure

you got me on ducks there tho. Perhaps too many people started to feed them and they became emboldened?

love me an asymmetrical hem on a dress, both nice choices. I was happy to see Reebok old school leather shoes come back on market a few years ago. think they cute with a sundress or casual outfit when you will be on your feet ‘for days’. They do have a bit of an unexpected narrow toe box, stretch quickly to conform to your foot though.

You have a good point. I never thought of it that way. I just don’t want to be out that late. The last time we had a late arrival our flight was delayed and we didn’t get to our room until about 1:00 am.

You are probably right.

I can’t do a narrow toe box with my fat feet. I’m looking for something like this so I can decorate the tops.
