Something About Nothing............ #14

And a good Saturday morning from a mild but dull UK, it does look as though it`ll brighten up though.

Time to start hanging washing back out on the lines now as it`s much nicer now, nothing beats washing dried fresh on the line, although I do love my dryer, it`s just nicer.

My tea this morning is a Christmas gift from some friends, a company called Newby London, never tried their teas before yesterday, it is lovely and we`ll use this one sparingly I think! But, Tom is making us Eggs Benedict later with bacon although I`ll be making the sauce as he hasn`t quite mastered that art yet.

Light lunch if we bother after a large breakfast, and dinner out tonight at one of our favourite pubs, and Kyle is coming with us and just the three of us tonight which will be nice, we always have the same table when it`s just us, right beside their wood burner. We used to prefer sitting beside their real fire on the opposite side of the restaurant, but they started leaving the door to the bar open and it can get draughty, so we switched. It`s a very cosy and warm place to visit and food is outstanding.

So, a day of not doing too much......will enjoy getting ready this afternoon though doing hair and make up with a glass of something........

Have a wonderful Saturday and weekend :-)
Ohhh, I'm so envious of you getting to hang clothes outside now!!! I have at least a month or more to wait!
I love the fresh air smell of the clothes after hanging them out. But, I also love to iron, so what do I know, LOL!

Enjoying tea and a very sunny, but windy day, after my time out. Older one wanted to go grocery shopping with him. Needless to say, I think almost everything we bought, more than I was expecting, little one will not eat. Though he did buy a case of a variety flavored vodka bottles. I think little one will only claim the pink lemonade kind, the others are fruit flavored, that I know she will not drink. He also bought bottles of Mexican soda. While I may like two of the three flavors he picked, not going to drink any of them. Too sugary tasting for me. And no way will little one touch fruit flavored soda.

Hence, lazy day for all of us. Though DH is with his mum again. Ever the good son.

Ooh there’s still English football on. At least not a rerun. Background noise. Eh over already. Oops. Time try to see what else’s is on the tube to see or more background noise.

A what for dinner? Not sure. We had a late lunch.

Eh, not a fan of mint chocolate, though I buy the ice cream of that flavor. But have to be in the mood,, and only a pint of it. We tend to stick to chocolate or vanilla.

Mid afternoon tea. Why yes I am. And maybe will be smelling Keisha’s grill cooking those steaks. Yum.

A noisy neighbor banging on something now. Wonder what he’s doing, but too lazy to go out and see.

What a pretty sunny day. Viewed from inside. That wind was making it feel very cool when we were out.

Ah, the weekend. Woot!

Keisha, I' m with you with the mint oreos and hard packed ice cream which is high in fat!!! Yea!
I just love desserts of most kinds.
I see you laughed at my Vikings remark! Don't worry, I laugh at the Vikings all the time. You can't really take them serious. If you do take them serious, you are bound to be disappointed.

Oh no, not lol @ the Vikings. Have rooted for them many times on Thanksgiving back in the day. Now, if you said the Packers, I might throw some shade.

thot it funny you were also rep’ing your team to Carole. I do tend to recruit fans, football is very big in our house. My older two DS‘s current side gig is coaching HS football and both have had multiple stints in semi pro & the FCF :).

Mac has her Bears & Lynne flies with the Eagles. I’ve bent Carole’s ear re my team, she has a funny story re a Steelers game on the tube @ strong water.

I'm kind of a reluctant fan of the Vikings. They spent so much money on the quarterback that the rest of the team is awful. It's depressing to be a fan of the Vikings. I have to say that I used to be a big fan of the Packers, I know, I know! That didn't go over well in Mn. either. LOL. I have been a fan of the bears for years, but don't really know why? Oh well, I just LOVE NFL football. I watch every game that's on and wait for August when it starts again.
I can imagine you love it too what with your son's involvement in football:)
My Mom, who is 95 y/o, watches every NFL game AND every college game. She can tell you the up and coming stars of the NFL. She is amazing. My husband doesn't watch football much and would rather be doing his woodworking:)
I saw you get Carole on board with your team,so I had to put in a good word with mine! They need all the good words they can get.
Can't wait for football season to start!
My grandson plays a lot of baseball so we watch that in the summer, which is fun.

Good afternoon. Today was supposed to be our big shopping day, but B and I managed to find dresses in the first store we went into. I couldn't decided between two, so I bought both. Now I need to check and see if I need to get any shoes. Between lunch and shopping we were only out about 3 hours, but I was exhausted when were done.

Exciting to hear the soon to be grads here will be soon heading out to conquer the world. Anyone going directly to grad school?
B says no graduate school for now, but did seem somewhat interested when I told her that our university offers a MFA in creative writing.

Reminds me, keep forgetting to notify my plumber aka the mr, that the kitchen sink faucet is starting to leak. way too soon, just put it in last year & picked a fancy one. I’m sure he can give it a strong talking to and fix the issue. will say, the whole washerless fitting sort of faucets are a big racket in my book.
You are fortunate to have someone who can work on your sink. Our plumber commented on what was done wrong with the installation of our sink. He was surprised when I told him it was installed by someone from his company.

Hubby had his post op eye assessment visit this morning and all was well. Will see doc again in 2 weeks for another assessment.
Good to hear.

Love the purple colour.....but then I`d always opt for purple!!
If it's available, B will always choose purple. She's a little disappointed that the third shirt she wanted didn't come in purple.

And have to send some well wishes to my sister. She was not feeling well yesterday, so have to call her today, to see what bug or virus got her sick. So doubt we will visit her this weekend. As I do try to stop by on the weekends for a coffee visit and chat.
I sympathize with her. Hope she is not feeling too badly today.

Ruth - when in Sams club earlier, saw this and thot of you.9CED9EA2-10E5-45A9-914B-77CE1360A5EF.jpeg Never heard of it before, didn’t grab it, might, if only to sprinkle in my coffee for a quick fix. tried the GS thin mint Kcups a few years ago, didn’t quite capture the taste.
Did they have other cookie flavors too? A lot of the leaders aren't happy that GS corporate is allowing the brand to be used on so many different items.

But, I also love to iron, so what do I know, LOL!
I cannot wrap my brain around that. I despise ironing. I'm going to attempt to steam our graduation gowns. I have never used a steamer before.

Football - I grew up with the Falcons, so.........
I also sort of follow the Panthers. I started watching them when we lived in NC. I have a friend who is a huge Packers fan, but not too happy with Aaron Rodgers right now.

Me ears are burning :rotfl2: Yes, i love Abbott & Costello, the monster ones (especially Frankenstein) my favs. need to look for the haunted house/ghost one. Haven’t seen it in ages.

Steaks on the grill it will be, at least it stopped snowing. marinating, as all they had were those thick sirloin ones that look suspiciously like a chopped up roast They are tasty enough if you beat them down. 🔨

Tom said he could tell you were someone who appreciated real humour as he calls Abbott & Costello and The Marx Bros and similar of their ilk……that ghost one had no story, but so funny! I do love their monster movies…..

Hope the steaks were good!

My washing will be out now till late September if weather permits. OMG……I’m someone who loves ironing too……I’m in the minority here of course……lol…….but I inherited that from my mum, she even ironed socks! But, yes, that fresh laundry smell is gorgeous when it’s been on the line.

Hopefully you’ll be hanging washing out soon……:laundy:

lol……we were cheering where we had no clue what we were cheering for……we did have locals try to educate us….they were real fans Who knew what they were talking about.

I think your sons could have some stories to tell in that environment!

I love the sound of your mum! She certainly knows her onions…..you always speak so fondly of her.

Yes, Janet encouraged me to be a Steelers fan……but I can support two teams…….I’m fickle like that!

Well we had a lovely evening out tonight, just the three of us and the pub was warm and cosy. We were a little early so went through to the bar for one while we waited.

Kyle and I got the same steak dish and got some nice pics with him too….

Chips (fries) were on a side “bucket” truly gorgeous meal. Tom had a chicken dish that was lovely too….we had a couple of bottles of Prosecco too, well, we were celebrating Mother's Day.

Having a small gin and lemonade as a nightcap…….but bedtime soon…..:)

Great you found dresses Charade. Little one says still nothing from her university about graduation. I do know when graduation is though. Day before Mother’s Day. Doubt she is thinking grad school, but still pushing her to get a job, as she’s saying where she like to live. I said until you gave a job in hand, don’t move anywhere. Sigh. Empty nesters soon I guess. But not like that’s a bad thing.

Kids went out for pizza. I said not that hungry, just bring me any leftover.

Only thing I think we have to do tomorrow, beside our regular Sunday chores, alarm setting and trash to curb, is that little one wants to go to pick up an online order, as got noice to pick up by Thursday. I’d much rather not do it on a week day, as then in the late afternoon or evening, rather then around lunchtime, well, late lunchtime on Sunday.

Yes, Charade, I don't know why I like to iron but I do. I sometimes wonder why I went to college to be an RN instead of taking in laundry, LOL! I know it's not normal
I don't think too many people are happy with Rodgers right now. He seems kind of erratic in his actions, and a little strange too! I follow the Southern teams too and of course liked the Titans when we lived in Tn.

Carole, it looks like you had a wonderful time out with your Son. The food looks delicious!

I think us strange "ironers" should unite!!! Honestly, there aren't too many of us. It's sad that a lot of the clothes now don't need ironing, :(

Yes, Mom is really amazing for her age. She has always been very active. She takes no prescription meds which her doctor is amazed at. If it wasn't for her poor eyesight, she would be doing a lot more than she does now. She also is a happy person, never a downer, always upbeat. So, I guess I brag a little on her:)

We had left over spanish rice and kielbasa sausage. Love that dish.
I just finished a crocheted baby receiving blanket, so am looking for more to do while tv is on. I tried to download the massive snowfall photos but something didn't work!!! I took some photos to try it out and air dropped them into my email (orsent them), and they arrived in my email just fine. When I did the same thing to the snow pics, they wouldn't transfer. I don't know why and I am not tech savvy enough to figure it out. But I will try again.

Have a good Saturday:)

Thanks, Keishashadow. Good find! I do love some mint seasoning, but our nearest Sams club is over 90 miles away! I just made some brownies and made chocolate icing for them. Then I gave most of them to the teenage grandsons. Those boys can eat every one of them in one setting. :)

Yes, ironing is something I find quite theraputic and just enjoy seeing everything neat, tidy and no creases at all then hanging it all up or having freshly washed dried and ironed bedding put on.....love it......

Of course you should brag about your mum, she sounds fabulous and we`re very lucky to still have them so vibrant at such an age. My mum is the same, full of life and nothing gets her down, you never hear her say she is tired or bored which is wonderful, life is for living.

Technology is a wonderful thing....when you know how to work it, we`d love to see the baby blanket if you can post them.

Had a lovely late sleep this morning and got a cup of tea in bed early which was nice, we put the tv on in the bedroom, something we very rarely do but it was nice with the blinds and drapes open and seeing the early sun pour in, it looks a gorgeous day out there.

Bacon for breakfast with some toast, we`ll have Kyle and a couple of others here for lunch, so doing a couple of charcuterie boards and a separate one for seafood, plan to bake some bread, make up a couple of salads and that`ll be lunch.

Saudi Arabian Grand Prix for us later, won`t need dinner as lunch will be enough and we can snack later if we need to. But, a nice Sunday ahead.

And a Happy Mother`s day to all the UK mummies out there.........

Happy Sunday :sunny:

4D6CA6D3-9CB2-47B6-A142-EC9716DCDDC6.jpegAw, a very happy Mother’s Day to Schumi and all the UK mums.

Ah, beautiful sunshine this Sunday. And with clear sky, a lovely 26 degrees it is. But the clouds are coming to make the end of the day overcast. And that wind is still making it feel cooler. Yep, like 15 degrees out now. And another day, 40 is the high. But a happier weather week, as early weather news said we will see some 60 degree days this week. Woot! Certainly acting more like that lamb this ending of March. Hope we see some more 60’s and even some 70’s as we go into April.

And so, that ever quiet earlier morning I get. Today, no different. Though alarm set. And ready for that week day routine.

But a lazy enough day, starting with tea and our largest tv remote. House feels a bit cool, so throw over my lap. Made pancakes, and gave some to DH to take to his mum. None left, but to be fair, by the time the kids wake up, they probably don’t want them. Though older one will be up earlier, as he works today.

Super Serene Sunday to all.

A good Sunday morning to all!

I just realized I missed a day of reading the sans!
Now I am caught up.

We had a dreadful two days in our bathroom dealing with ants.
Hired service company two days ago and have the cats locked up in our bedroom.

This can be a problem living in the south, ants invading a room

Have had to keep the cats in our bedroom which is a pain.

Our bedroom attached to the bathroom, shower-toilet-walk in closet-had chemical treatments to get rid of the ants

Today when we woke up, red ants are now gone

Now we will clean up the poison treatment as red ants moved out
and cats will be able to use those rooms now

We have 3 full bathrooms two are located in another section of our house
Ant issues were confined in the master suite room

Happy day for us as cats now can go back into the two rooms and out of my bed

When our kids were little and ill, they slept with us
Of course we did not sleep well in that temp set up
but needed to be able wake up when they cried.

My life will now go back to normal!
Cats can go back to their normal cat beds today
Yay !

This is the first time in 7 years for us to have an ant invasion
Hope it is the last.

Wherever you live, do hope your weather is good and you have a sunny day.

Hi Macraven:
I! am so glad you got rid of your ant problem and are back to normal. I know what you mean about the ants in the South. When we lived in Tn. we had those too. I hate, hate bugs, At least in the North, we don't have a lot of bugs to deal with, just bears, Mosquitos (our state bird),LOL, and ticks. I got lime disease from the ticks and also another variation that is starting in our area, anaplasmosis, another tick borne disease which has the same symptoms. Great....I;ve had the treatment and am doing ok with the usual aches and pains. If you live up here, you will get tick bites sooner or later unless you keep behind a glass wall all the time:)

Have a nice Sunday:)

Have a great time at the races:) I don't know why I can't seem to post pictures I take on my phone? But I will stubbornly keep trying.
Your mom sounds like mine, and it is great to see them like that. No one believes that my Mom is 95, which is kind of funny.
I know you will enjoy your Sunday.
Sounds better than mine. I cleaned out the dreaded lower drawer in our bathroom and got rid of a bag full of "stuff". I hate doing that chore but do feel better after it's done. Now to rest up, marinate steaks, and pick Mom up for dinner:)

on my wall calendar today lol. Happy happy to all the “Mums” among us.

only iron when forced, I can work miracles with a spray bottle of wrinkle release :)

easy day here re food prep. bacon & eggs for breakfast. Dinner will be Reuben sandwiches & country style hash browns I haven’t whipped up in ages. The mr will get the alternate of sliced cold steak & fried potato rounds. Easy peasy. There will be ice cream later :)

charade - wow, lucky you finding not one But, two dresses so quickly. Have to laugh, I did see an advertisement for Girl Scout cookie inspired makeup, only one I remember is thin mint lip gloss

carole - sounds like you have been duly pampered! Glad your dinner went so well, great pics.

But not like that’s a bad thing
Lol i was the mom who cried when my kids would start school, all the way thru college. Huge waterworks when they moved out of the home. one has boomeranged back for 5 months, surprised I’m not ready to boot him, yet. It’s both a an adjustment when they leave and morph back home :).
don't think too many people are happy with Rodgers right now. He seems kind of erratic in his actions, and a little strange too!
I’m going to go with that is a very diplomatic understatement. He surely marches to the beat of his own drummer.
Thanks, Keishashadow. Good find! I do love some mint seasoning, but our nearest Sams club is over 90 miles away! I just made some brownies and made chocolate icing for them. Then I gave most of them to the teenage grandsons. Those boys can eat every one of them in one setting. :)
First time ever I upgraded to the SAMs membership with free shipping to home and store pickup that they happily put in my truck bed when i pull up at the store. nice when buying those 36 can package of soda or when I’m a bit of a hot mess & not fit for human consumption.

your Mom sounds like a real plugger, good for her!
We had a dreadful two days in our bathroom dealing with ants.

Oh nooo. Was first thinking fire ants. any are a real PIA. Did the contractor leave the traps for you to use? We always have those pet friendly enclosed ones in door jams. Seems to work well enough here for the most part.
I got lime disease from the ticks and also another variation that is starting in our area, anaplasmosis,
Holy smokes! I nearly feel over seeing the mr’s back about 5 years ago with that red bull’s eye. He did the course of antibiotics. He now sprays the entire yard every year.

our property has five foot fencing. However, I’m pretty sure deer can fly At this point. living next to woods with so many, it’s inevitable tIcks manage to get thru the DMZ we have set up.

Every time the mr does yard work now, I do a skin check. Same with the dog. Try to remember to look at least once a day on him. Let’s just say I’ve gotten to be very good at pulling out ticks intact. Gross process, i save empty Rx bottles in which to deposit them & toss.

Yeah around even me Keisha, there is talking about tick borne illness in the news lately. Yep, time of year when gets warm enough.

A good Sunday morning to all!

My life will now go back to normal!
Cats can go back to their normal cat beds today
Yay !

This is the first time in 7 years for us to have an ant invasion
Hope it is the last.

Wherever you live, do hope your weather is good and you have a sunny day.

I`m glad you got the ants sorted out mac, that can`t be fun to deal with and yes, the cats would have been a target for them for sure!!

Yes, you are missed when you don`t post for a time!!

The race was on the tv, GP was in Saudi Arabia, and it was a very dull race but the guy we don`t like didn`t win so that was a win for us!! Our guys were second and third.

My mum looks fabulous for her age too, it`s so good to see and yes, folks always say she looks years younger than she is.

Oh I hope you can work out how to post pictures, I`m sure they`ll be lovely to see.

on my wall calendar today lol.

Lol i was the mom who cried when my kids would start school, all the way thru college. Huge waterworks when they moved out of the home. one has boomeranged back for 5 months, surprised I’m not ready to boot him, yet. It’s both a an adjustment when they leave and morph back home :).

I’m going to go with that is a very diplomatic understatement. He surely marches to the beat of his own drummer.

Oh nooo. Was first thinking fire ants. any are a real PIA. Did the contractor leave the traps for you to use? We always have those pet friendly enclosed ones in door jams. Seems to work well enough here for the most part.

Thank you Janet...it was a lovely Mother`s Day!!!

Bears....flying deer.....am i the only one who thinks where you live sounds amazing......lol......

I only heard about Lyme Disease when we were visiting New York. One of my cousins homes backs on to woodland and we had to make sure the dog didn`t get out as she would run into the woods and of course then they had to check for ticks.

Yes, I was that mum who cried when he went back to school as I loved having him home and being a mum, making the most of your time together is the most important thing. I`m sure your boy is enjoying his time back with you too.

Well the format is all off this morning for this section of the boards.......for me anyway.

I can read the CB properly but all I`m seeing is a long thin line for these threads. Again, might just be the gremlins in the machine for me!!!!

Nothing spectacular weather wise today, looks grey but no breeze and not too cold.....first day of spring today of course and our clocks go forward this weekend.......nothing to fuss about really, we`re so used to it now and of course being retired we don`t have to think about it from that side.

Today, no real plans yet, I know we do have to go out for some fresh produce after I do the school readings this morning but then it`ll be back home again I think.

I do need to think about getting some new trainers for our trip and I could be doing with a new pair of proper walking shoes too for when I get back to walking our miles every day and maybe a couple of pairs of sandals????? I hate shoe shopping!

Lunch today is some continental meats with some brie we never put out yesterday and some salad, dinner will be bbq seasoned pork steaks with potato salad and salad I think. Avocado on toast for breakfast with my usual 2 pots of tea......

Have a wonderful Monday :)

Ah yes, this Monday morning we get to say, Happy Spring season starting for you today.

And what a nice weather week. Though with a clear sky in the overnight, we are at 27 degrees out now. But what a warm up, more than double the low degree, with the high of 53 degrees will be this late afternoon. With a glorious sunny day. And the lowest high this week is Saturday, 49 degrees the high, with rainy days, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 60’s degree highs with the rain to end the last two days of week day routine. Woot! More warmer days starting.

Hence, commuting tomorrow, in that most glorious sunny all day that is also predicted for tomorrow, and not in that predicted rainy day Thursday. And ready for having that lazy Friday to end this week. So certainly looking forward to that fabulous Friday feeling this week.

Thus, up that always early morning, screen on, back to that week day routine. So back to that, and my cup of tea. No throw on my lap, as turned the heater up a little. Was nice when I got out of the shower, compared to yesterday, when unknown to me, that turn down the heater request in the wee the other night, meant that he turned the heater off. Hence, by the time we realized that, was a very cool feeling house in the overnight on Saturday into Sunday mid morning, when I turned the heater on.

Have a most Marvelous Monday homies. In the 20’s of March. Getting that much closer to April, and the month of rain showers. Need them, as then flowers in May. Aww, saw my lone daffodil in my garden. Used to have more, but there are animals that like my flowers. Just glad to see that bright yellow in my bare garden.
