Something About Nothing............ #14

Made 2 doz cinnamon rolls today. Found out (or maybe remembered lol) the newish stove has a ‘proof’ function. Worked well to help them rise to proper level. I had one, saving another for dessert. Cannot imagine the sugar content in them.

Tossed salad made from the dregs in the crisper. Need to venture out tomorrow to pick up produce. Raided the freezer last night to drag out some lasagne portions I squirreled away, the mr will get spicy buttered spaghetti. Easy peasy.

Have derm appointment next week, near the only pottery barn here. Thought I’d look online and see if anything interesting. They have Harry Potter mirrors, of all things! Liked the replica of erised the best of the lot.

No sound ordinance there? Most adhere to them here, 8 am - 8 pm. Can’t argue with those using leaf or snow blowers to clear the white stuff even if the sun hasn’t risen yet.

We do have one moron who, despite not working outside the home; waits until it’s nearly dark to cut his grass in the summer. I’m astounded he hasn’t slipped on the grass’ dew, especially as he has a good slope on one side of his yard.

Me too, I treasure my copy of

I have a trick of sorts, calm myself before sleep and think on the object I’ve misplaced. Often, I’ll wake up in the middle of night and remember.

I enjoyed it, so many excellent actors and interesting to me as to the process itself. Am glad I waited until it was “free” to view lol.

Nice mirror! I’m looking for something contemporary but not too modern and not too old fashioned looking but I like traditional……not asking for much are we!! lol….I’ll know it when I see it!

Well, I completely agree with your thoughts on Conclave, decent start and interesting, but I thought the ending it was completely dreadful, waste of anticipation for something sinister, the ending sucked beans!! Loathed the ending with a passion, huge disappointment as I expected more.

Won’t watch that again!!

My current whine for today.
It’s 46 where I am with a real feel at 42.

Yes, do know it’s colder for you at your location.

Years ago I would be thinking we were having a mini heat wave.

You can still whine Mac, no awards for who gets the coldest weather, hope it warms up for you soon.

Going to watch something funny now I think, not sure what, but will find something.

Excited to see my nephew and his wife tomorrow, and a nice meal out too. But, time for another movie.

Hope your Saturday has been a good one :)

Good lazy Sunday morning from what will be a very windy UK this afternoon!!

No plans this morning, will have a late brunch around 10.30 as we are dining out tonight, so we slept later this morning which was lovely, it is windy outside but not too bad yet. Tom did bring me a cup of tea about an hour ago in bed, but will make a large pot with breakfast. Doing pancakes, bacon and poached eggs with some fruit, that`ll keep us going till dinner tonight.

Kyle is coming over from his place mid afternoon, my nephew should be here by that time as they were leaving early this morning, weather permitting of course. Then we`ll head out to the restaurant for dinner. So, a morning of not doing very much, might box up the books I am reluctantly parting with and get them to the charity store tomorrow morning after I`m done in school which should be by 10.30.

Last week of February coming up!!! How the heck did that happen!!!

Happy Sunday :goodvibes

Doing pancakes, bacon and poached eggs with some fruit, that`ll keep us going till dinner tonight.
I cannot remember the last year, let alone time, I had pancakes. Think I ate one too many as a kid for breakfast. Sounds like a hearty breakfast that will hold you till the family gathering. Have fun!

I’m working on a small grocery list, my vegetable crisper is barren. Jr coming round, Grilling out some T-bones early afternoon as he has plans later.

We probably will start to tackle installing a hand rail on portion of our steps heading up to 2nd floor that doesn’t have one, approx 6 feet. Has been on the to-do list for some time. Finally, saw a nice wrought iron one that will co-exist with the existing craftsman style. Hope the studs decide to cooperate for placement.

Need to sit down & write a letter today to the furnace company that installed our new one a little over a year ago. It quit working this past week on day I had medical appt. Had one of my DS let them access the home in my absence.

They completed the work by the time I came home from the doctors. I didn’t receive a written estimate, nor did I sign any agreement for work authorization. Worse, they didn’t they factor in my warranty coverage, saying it didn’t cover the pump. Quite the trifecta.

Warranty states I’m on hook for labor only on parts for 2 years & have 20 years on the boiler. Owner not returning my calls to discuss. Annoyed they charged me triple for what the pump retails…effectively 3/4 of the bill…that’s some middle man markup there.

I’ve never had a problem like this with a contractor. Why do I have a feeling it’s going to get messy? :crazy2: This is why you marry a man who is handy around the house! Lol

Have a good Sunday all!

Good Sunday Morning everyone :wave2:

I just got some maybe bad, maybe not, news. I had my annual mammogram a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been invited back for more testing. I have that scheduled for March 5. I appreciate prayers and well wishes.
Charade they are getting more advanced with all the new technology for catching even small nuanced changes which is wonderful.

I had the same thing happen and they did do another Mammogram followed by an Ultrasound and watched the area every 6 months for 2 years until it finally went away. Now back to yearly mammogram.

Sending prayers your way that it is nothing major and just an area to keep an eye on.

If it’s still like this in 2 weeks I will need to take a jacket. I might even buy a new Disney hoodie. I still have a gift card one if the therapists gave me for Christmas in 2023.
Yes, it is supposed to be much cooler in the evening this coming week too.

Enjoy a little retail therapy and get a nice Disney jacket or sweat shirt.

Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. The week before vacation is going to be a busy one. I have the follow up to my sleep study, the follow up to the mammogram, and my semi annual appointment with my primary care provider.
You do have a busy week. Hope all goes well with your appointments.

We have another family birthday tonight to celebrate. It's my grandson's wife. We also get to see our newest great granddaughter who is about 4 months old now, and our GrtGrandson who is 2 1/2. Can't wait to see the little cuties:)
It seems we always have a family birthday to celebrate, and we have a big celebration for each one. Lots of fun and good food.
Enjoy your celebrations with your grandsons family Ruth.

Milkmen are still thriving over here, we like using them for milk, butter, cream and occasionally cheese and yoghurts. A quick txt and we can add to our delivery and it`s a nominal charge they ask for delivery, pennies really. Some are struggling though as grocery stores are doing their best to oust them, we do what we can.
We had milkmen when I was a little girl and bakery men who delivered bread and baked goods. I was sad to see the them go. The grocery stores were their end.

Have derm appointment next week, near the only pottery barn here. Thought I’d look online and see if anything interesting. They have Harry Potter mirrors, of all things! Liked the replica of erised the best of the lot.
That mirror would be a statement piece in a house for sure.

Sun is shinning this morning. A little cooler start to the day.

I went up to KSC for the morning yesterday. It was not busy at all and enjoyed walking around.

Pretty much had the Apollo/Saturn V Center to myself for a little while which was very unusual, but very cool too.

Here is the the Launch Tower for Artemis II being constructed outside the VAB. Once it is done it will be moved into the VAB. When Artemis II is completed it will be attached to the Tower in the VAB and taken to the launch site on the Crawler.

Projected date for lift off of Artemis II sometime in 2026.

It was an overcast day out with a nice cool wind so pleasant day to visit KSC.

I did get my AP renewed as that was going to expire in a couple of days.

I have a couple little projects I want to do today.

Hubby wants to go out for pizza tonight so pizza it is.

Have a wonderful relaxing Sunday everyone.

Happy Sunday. Nothing interesting going on here today.

I have given up on my mouse ears. I cannot find them anywhere. I decided to order another set, but don't know if they will get here on time.

I have most of my childhood books up in boxes in the attic, all my Enid Blyton books in particular are in excellent condition and not common today, I wouldn`t part with them and have most of Kyle`s childhood books too, well his favourites that he`ll want to pass on. But, Tom is not really a book person so doesn`t get it. I do buy far too many books.
I wish I still had some of my favorite childhood books. DH has many of his. I think this one is his oldest book. It's a story about adoption.

Made 2 doz cinnamon rolls today.
Yum. I have never attempted homemade.

Liked the replica of erised the best of the lot.
Cool mirror.

No sound ordinance there?
We have a no excessive noice ordinance from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. Our neighbor is often up and sawing (or whatever he's doing) at 7:30.

I have a trick of sorts, calm myself before sleep and think on the object I’ve misplaced. Often, I’ll wake up in the middle of night and remember.
Unfortunately that didn't work for me. I am wondering if it accidentally got thrown away.

There was a man who lived in local area, years back who had an interesting cat who loved to be dressed up.
That was a great story.

I had the same thing happen and they did do another Mammogram followed by an Ultrasound and watched the area every 6 months for 2 years until it finally went away. Now back to yearly mammogram.

Sending prayers your way that it is nothing major and just an area to keep an eye on.
That's probably what will happen with me. They said they found calcifications and asymmetry.

I went up to KSC for the morning yesterday. It was not busy at all and enjoyed walking around.
Great pictures. I would like to go back there someday. It's been about 22 years.

Ugh, back to work tomorrow. It's been nice having the past 5 days off.

Marvelous Monday to all.

Sun is shining since being seen as a huge orange ball on the horizon. And what in that pre dawn commute’s sky? The smallest sliver of the moon then I’ve seen in some time.

And yay, was 32 degrees when I step out the door. Going to be 53 this afternoon. Walk outside for lunch today. Woot! But we will pay for this better weather. Rainy weather this week. Have to say though, much rather have rain, than any other wintery weather falling this week. Mind you, there was a year, we had snow Easter weekend.

But as this month and next month, both started on the last day of the week, March will have us seeing more warmer days than colder. But that Ides of March is coming up. As well as the time change to daylight saving time, before that March date Caesar died. Joy for how we keep time, twice a year. Not. But still means a pre dawn trip for me, as sunrise will be an hour later, not this coming Sunday, but the Sunday the week after. Sigh.

I cannot remember the last year, let alone time, I had pancakes. Think I ate one too many as a kid for breakfast. Sounds like a hearty breakfast that will hold you till the family gathering. Have fun!

Have a good Sunday all!

We both love pancakes, but not too often as you have to have syrup with them, not exactly healthy, but so good!!! I`m not a waffle fan, but also love French Toast! Yum, not thinking about them now.....

Good luck with the furnace people, shocking report of three misses by them. You have right on your side there. And I do think you need to share that husband of yours at times with him being such a fabulous handyman!!! I think I told you, my husband, wonderful as he is, he is the "get the guy" guy. No interest in DIY, although he can do plenty, he just chooses not to. I will admit though, right now he is down helping the gardener replace one of the windows in the "man shed" as the winds yesterday knocked a branch through it! I should go down and take pictures lol.....

Your hand rail will be perfect once it`s done, one of those jobs that`s good to see finished!

Busy weekend here, yesterday the weather was dreadful, high winds and rain but my nephew and his wife made it safely down, eventually. So good to see them here, had a lovely dinner out last night at one of our favourite pub restaurants, glad they didn`t let us down as they really enjoyed the food too. And their doggy is such a dream, black shiny female lab, so well behaved and she settled really well.

They set off this morning and thankfully the weather is beautiful today, barely a breeze and the sun is out in the sky! They`ll have a nice week on the narrow boat, but it was lovely having them here.

Today has been changing bed sheets, cleaning the bathroom they were using and so on, doesn`t take long, did a few little jobs while Tom was off volunteering.

Doing chicken piccata tonight for dinner, Tom brought home some lovely veg from a little place, it`s so cute, it has an honesty box beside the veg and they sell local honey too, so he came home with some nice goodies!

But, about to make a mid afternoon pot of tea then go look for some real pictures one of my cousins asked if I have, not sure but there are thousands of real pictures up there in several boxes!!! Once I start looking through them, I get lost in memories.

Hope you have a lovely Monday :)

We can't do the pancake/waffle thing often but it is a real treat. Especially with real maple syrup.
Once a year we'll have chicken and waffles somewhere but our favorites are croissant french toast and pannetone french toast at home. We did do protein pancakes and waffles trying to lose weight but they had a weird taste and consistency.
The basic white bread french toast was what I grew up on, with cinnamon and nutmeg. Mom's pancakes and waffles were box mix and decent.

I have never tried box/ready made pancake mix before, I wonder why it`s still popular as they`re so easy to make.

If you like croissants when making French Toast, try Brioche instead, that`s what we tend to use as I agree, it`s not an everyday meal, now and again and yep, real maple syrup although we do love Lyle`s Golden Syrup......fond childhood memories there!!

Yep, if you`re going to do pancakes, don`t bother with the low anything ingredients, just have them less often and not too many, I try to follow that advice.....lol....

I never made it to the attic to search for the picture, mum called and we chatted for a time, I`ll think about doing it tomorrow.

Now I`m roaming the internet......always a risk of seeing something to buy ::yes::

Love the memes, Carole, especially concentrating in getting taller, LOL.
I hate to get rid of books too. I have them everywhere. In the dining room Roger built a cabinet with shelves to the ceiling which I have filed with my books. My bedroom has more shelves filled with my books. The spare bedroom also has a nice bookshelf which is full of, you guessed it, my books, lol. I also have a dresser drawer with books in it. Roger has an antique book cabinet in the living room which is filled with Louis LaMour leather bound books with gold lettering. They were a gift from daughter, Robin. He loves westerns and has a cabinet filled with paperbacks under the living room tv. Whew! Saying all that makes me wonder how that happened:) ???

The book that Robin gave me? I started it last evening and read 1/2 of it already. I will get started on the rest of it after I get off the internet:) It is really different and hard to explain, but has some paranormal in it. I can't tell where it is going!

Wow, Janet, that sounds like a rotten deal with your furnace. Have you tried calling them too?
It all sounds kind of fishy to me!

Yep it is nice to be married to a man who is handy around the house! Roger has saved us untold thousands of dollars fixing and repairing and building around the house. He does plumbing (reluctantly, lol), electrical, heating, and all appliances. I hope you get a good result from this company soon!

I never make pancakes at all. I have tried several times and they are either too thick with the middle undone, or too thin!!! I gave up and now buy pancakes when we go to our favorite restaurant in town. They make excellent pancakes. I know when to admit defeat, lol.

I have lost my favorite tupperware bowl and can't find it anywhere. I now think it got thrown away! which is irritating! Good luck!

And yay, was 32 degrees when I step out the door. Going to be 53 this afternoon.
Huge yay for warmer temps. It’s supposed to be in the mid 60s here tomorrow.

We both love pancakes, but not too often as you have to have syrup with them, not exactly healthy, but so good!!! I`m not a waffle fan, but also love French Toast! Yum, not thinking about them now.....
I like pancakes, waffles, and french toast. We have a local restaurant that used to serve lemon french toast. It was so good, but they have removed it from their menu.

I never make pancakes at all. I have tried several times and they are either too thick with the middle undone, or too thin!!!
That’s me too. I am totally inept at making pancakes. I used to get my mother to make a big batch of them and I would freeze them for later.

Charade, I hope you find your mouse ears, but I bet they are long gone now.
Still haven’t found them. I’m afraid they may have accidentally gotten thrown out.

Today was a busy day at work. All of the mail that we have been missing for the past 2 weeks finally showed up. Hopefully I have enough stuff to keep me busy this week.

I love the sound of all those books! Tom keeps reminding me we have more books than some libraries and I’ll never read them all again…..he doesn’t get it! Classic books are my favourite though, but then so are some contemporary authors…..don’t make me choose lol…..

Sounds an interesting book, hope you can get into it properly.

Wow, Janet, that sounds like a rotten deal with your furnace. Have you tried calling them too?

Lemon French Toast is gorgeous!!

Shame about the ears, I’m sure you’ll find another pair, but I hate to lose anything accidentally like that.

Slept like a rock last night, I didn’t feel overly tired when I went to bed, but didn’t budge till around 7.30, so a nice late sleep too. And the sun is beautiful this morning, but still chilly.

One of my friends is picking me up in about 15 minutes for a rumble around town, she is looking for shorts and some tops for their upcoming trip to Spain next month, she’s like me though, doesn’t like to wander round every shop, she is easy to shop with, will be home before lunch, not sure if she’s staying for lunch or not.

I do need to pick up an anniversary card for my nephew and his wife, it’s on Saturday and I should have had it for them when they were here on Sunday, but will post it up to them and they’ll get it when they get home.

Chicken breasts stuffed with Brie and cranberry tonight, a favourite dish of ours with garlic and Rosemary mini roast potatoes and whatever veg.

Have a lovely Tuesday :)

Looks like a slow day here.
I’m keep forgetting many of you still have jobs and work.

If you are like me, you will do a quick dance while singing the song, Take this job and shove it.

On the other hand, you just might not know that song…..
