Something About Nothing............ #14

Mac, it’s basically, bar food. Very nice waitress. We did like that the hostess sat us, so we had a front row to see the live music that played most of the time we were there. They were good. it was crowded even when we had, that for us, is a late time for dinner. Seemed to lessen a little by the time we left. Little one said she never thought to go there, but both of us said we’d go back. But I was happy I made that late time reservation, as we checked in about 10 minutes before the time, then started to sit down, in the lobby, to wait for name to be called. Hostess said, no need to sit, I’ll show you to your table.

As usual, I’m the early bird, this morning, as even with me asleep not much after we got back from our dinner, and little bit of browsing through a few stores last night.

Ah, the need to talk very loud while walking by our door. Good thing my kids are both sound sleepers even when some louder noise heard.

Marvelous Monday to all.

Good Monday afternoon...as it is now!!!!

Beautiful day but cold as expected this time of year, up early as always and as neither of us had anything on this morning, the school I volunteer in is having a Teacher Training Day so we headed down to the beach for a walk, it was lovely, but some fog came rolling in, it is eerie when that happens especially when it comes in quickly.

Came home and had an early lunch and Tom went out volunteering this afternoon, he won`t be home till almost six tonight, so whole afternoon to myself. Plan to do some trip report as it`s ridiculous it isn`t finished yet, listen to music, I have a mix of Kiss and Queen on right now, two amazing bands!!

Dinner will be chicken casserole with dumplings and a pile of veg as we stopped into one of our local farm stores, can`t get fresher than that.

Time for another pot of tea 🫖

Have a lovely Monday :)

OMGosh! Maybe she was drinking a little bit ???? I don't know why she would do that. Did I every tell you that I dated Leif Garrett once for 5 minutes in l967?? lol:rotfl2:
That is funny Ruth……..I couldn’t date him as I don’t know who he really is…..LOL

Oh Robo I love cornbread. I haven't done the milk in the cornbread before. My sisterinlaw used to break hers up and put it in the milk. She put butter on it first. She was a born and raised Southerner, and I learned a lot from her, some of it I can tell you:rolleyes2, I make my own version of Southern cornbread after playing around with the recipe for a while.
I like good cornbread just not mashed up in milk. Sounds like your sister-in-law enjoys a lot of the old southern dishes. It is interesting even with all the barbecue dishes in the south, the barbecue sauce is very regional. I always enjoy learning about regional dishes.

Sounds like you have a nice cornbread recipe.

I hope you are feeling better, Robbie. That had to have caused you more pain than you are letting on.
I’am feeling some better thank you Ruth. I need to get moving though.

I got up at 5:30 today and started cleaning at 7:30!!!!! Why? I don't know. I usually don't start cleaning until after nine am. Roger helped and we vacuumed and scrubbed the terra cotta tile floors and the bathroom. I cleaned the bath and washed 2 loads of clothes. :laundy: No hanging up clothes yet though!
Wow…..you really did get a lot done early in the morning.

Now I am super sore and wondering what came over me? Maybe it won't happen again:)
Hope you feel better soon Ruth.

Having lunch now and watching The Mummy with Roger. Will rest the rest of the day.
Have a great Sunday, everyone!
Mummy is a good movie I have enjoyed watching that over the years.

Leif Garrett is American, from California I believe, that`s where this woman lived until she was divorced and made her way over here, she`s quite nice but I find her a little too much, but pleasant for a short time.
That is funny. I lost track of where all those teeny boppers where from and who they were. There were so many of them back in the day.

Funny how out to the blue she chose to share that. You never know what is going through someone’s head.

Oh it wasn`t a home cooked meal as such, 8 of us in the end prepared a buffet for 140 people, it worked out nicely as everyone could just take what they wanted. I was glad to see my curries and quiches were all devoured as well as everything else.

Hope your GD can come down for a visit, always good to see family.
Sounds a nice buffet.

Me too would love it if granddaughter can make the trip down.

Well, our friends loved the decantor and glasses, I`m so pleased as I spent ages trying to find the right one, they got some beautiful gifts too, although they did instruct no gifts, but you have to for a 40th. They said making all the food was enough, but no one minded.
Good to hear your friends enjoyed their gift from you.

Sounds like fun. I would like to try a Mardi Gras visit sometime. It just won’t be this year.
It is nice that Universal has so many nice events to choose from from. I keep saying I will get there for Christmas celebrations. I will make it some time.

Lynne is that the Edison at Disney Springs?

Another sunny start to the day today. High today is supposed to be 78 today.

Going to get moving more today. Have been out to the stores, but need to move more.

My back is really stiff and I can’t lay my right arm on anything as it is to bruise to tolerate it. Will get better when the bruising lays down.

I think I will go down to pool today and do a little walking in the pool. Can’t swim until arm heals up more. Will see how things go.

Hubby and I did go down to our favorite pizza restaurant by the ocean on Sunday for late lunch. Hubby wanted pizza from there. We did walk down to the boardwalk. Did not go down on beach. Hubby is not ready for the uneven sand yet, but is was good to get down there. Nothing like a little salt air and blue ocean to put things right.

Need to get scootin.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

Ouch!!! Hope you feel better soon and not in too much pain. Sounds like a nasty fall.

Yes, we rarely walk on the sand, we prefer the promenade which runs for a few miles, better than walking on uneven dry sand which is like walking through treacle.

Glad you enjoyed the pizza!!!

Have a good day too.

Leif Garrett back during his teeny bopper days.

He is unrecognizable now. He used to be a celebrity commentator on a show called World’s Dumbest.

lol....that`s him and yes, he doesn`t look anything like that now!!! His main hit was a great song to dance to in disco`s back then!!

Best laid plans, not complaining though, it`s always nice to see friends, one popped in for a cuppa and chat, mainly about Saturday as there were a few conversations that were interesting apparently around us, I missed most of them it seems lol.....

I`ll get this TR finished at some point!!!

I love elephants!!

Before ww2, my dad was an elephant trainer in the circus.

He would take brothers and I to the St. Louis zoo yearly in the summer.

Happy Monday to all! Beautiful week forcasted here 70s & 80s hi and 50s & 60s lo. May surprise DW with a day trip to UO for Mardi Gras soon. Have Valentine's dinner booked and about to order chocolates from Cocoa and Cardamom in Houston. Her birthday is the 18th so I try to differentiate the 2.youknowur.png

You are a great husband!
There should be more men like you!

She is going to love that day trip!

All gals usually love chocolate.. especially when they don’t have to share it with anyone…….just saying….

Quick Monday morning stop in :wave2:

We are still in the ugly gross temperatures. It is a balmy -44C /-47F this morning :cold: I am done with winter. Dh and I were kind of waiting to plan a little warm get away in late March as our sister-in-law got some news on her dad's health that made them pull out of booking a quick warm holiday. I told dh to reach out to our travel agent to see if there are any deals. I need something to focus on right now.

We didn't do much this weekend. It was too cold to do too much. We did head out and pick up groceries yesterday. I whipped up roast chicken dinner last night and the kids came over for a meal. It was nice having them for dinner.

I am on Grammie duty again Wed - Friday as dd is working out of town again. So Grammie will pick up from daycare and keep her until her dad is done work.

Other than that...not much is new here.

January 31 is never a good day for me. Today is the 23rd anniversary of my father's passing. It was very sudden and unexpected.
 Those are always hard days. After 10 years - it's still hard.
I just booked all of our Disney transportation. I think I have done all that I can do now to plan this trip. Now we wait.
That's awesome.

I was hoping to start booking our hotel for Disneyland of Jan next year, but I am holding off for now. I'll keep researching, but for now all trips into the US are on pause.
Sending some Florida sunshine your way
Please keep sending it!!! I need all the sunshine we can get.
I`ll get this TR finished at some point!!!
::yes::

Well, I should run. I am the only admin on the desk this week. NO back up, but with the manager still away - the days flow amazing when she is not here.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

That`s nice, it`s nice when couples keep up the romance in a marriage.

Yep, I`m proud my husband is one of those wonders, and yes, more men should be that way too. You`re never too old for romance!!!

It is so time consuming doing a Trip Report, but yes, it should have been finished by now.

Yes, getting a trip planned does take one`s mind off things and getting away from cold weather is always nice.

Lazy night for us, I did manage some trip report in the end, now feet up and tv on I think.

Tonic water and some grapes for me for supper tonight, dull but nice. Then an early night for us I think, might put the tv on and watch some in bed later.

First Monday of the month almost over for us :)

I don't want to jinx my day at work....but it's been a nice q...t day.

It's still freeking cold. I did use the command start to start the car a couple times ( as dh asked me to do that - so that these cold temps don't kill the battery) I even ran out to actually start it on my last break - as the command start will only work 3 X's before you need the key to start it. My lungs coughed as I inhaled the dry cold air and the snow is super squeaky which means it's pretty cold.

I am not sure what is on the menu for tonight. I know dh has come down with a cold - so I'll see what he feels like eating and adjust it from there.

I also need to stop in at HomeSense for a couple of baskets to keep and sort some of gd's toys and things at the house.

Other than that....not much else will happen tonight.

We have entered the weird phase of our winter weather. We were in the high 60s today. Here is our upcoming forecast.

IMG_1079.jpeg

Some consistency would be nice.

Mummy is a good movie I have enjoyed watching that over the years.
I was looking for something to watch last night a d was happy to see The Mummy was on. I haven’t sent it since the original theater run. Unfortunately it was the Tom Cruise version. I decided to watch something else.

baby elephant seen our our ride today:
So cute. I’m hoping for a somewhat cloudy day when we go to Animal Kingdom. I’ve heard there is a better chance to see more animals.

May surprise DW with a day trip to UO for Mardi Gras soon. Have Valentine's dinner booked and about to order chocolates from Cocoa and Cardamom in Houston. Her birthday is the 18th so I try to differentiate the 2.
Aww….you are a good husband. We generally don’t do anything for Valentines Day.

Hope you are able to find something fun to do.

Time to start thinking about dinner.

That is cold!! When your lungs hurt, it`s time for spring!! And yes, thank goodness for remote start, we haven`t used it much this winter thank goodness, but it is handy.

Hope your DH feels better soon.

Time to start thinking about dinner.

Yes, consistency is good, we`re the same, today is blowing a gale and mild, rest of the week is much colder.

We`re the same, we don`t actually go out for special Valentine`s dinner, most restaurants only put on a set menu that`s not worth it, we`ll go out another night for dinner. I do always get flowers, but it`s a Friday this year so I get my usual Friday flowers anyway. Weirdly I just go an email from one of our local restaurants, usually dinner would be around $100, Valentine`s special...$150!!! The menu isn`t even anything special.

Yes, that Tom Cruise Mummy movie was not worth watching.

We heard the howling wind this morning and decided to cosy up and go back to sleep, so, a very late breakfast for us, I was ready for my tea by the time we came downstairs. Brought the milk in and he`s left us double butter and one cream instead of two, I think someone other than the usual person is doing the ordering, will call again today.

Heading out to do some shopping this morning, we need fresh produce and not much else, maybe some flour but I feel like a wander through the town about 20 minutes away from us.

Doing spicy chicken thighs tonight for dinner, I do have sweet potatoes and maybe buttered shredded cabbage. Lunch will be open faced turkey sandwiches. Easy food day today for us.

Happy Tuesday :)
