Something About Nothing............ #14

Good morning to all.

Will be a day I stay in the house as rain has begun again.
Believe it will slow down and could end up to be scattered showers.

Oh you must be due some good weather soon Mac, you’ve had a lot of miserable weather recently. I’d be staying in too :)

Good morning my sunshines

Believe half the population of Brazil and Peru is here with us

Lovely picture Janet, and weather looks lovely!!!

Have a blast!

Quick drop by, Kyle is coming for dinner, can’t wait to hear about his week at the conference and hopefully see some pics! He said the food was amazing. He’s in a late meeting and should be here in a few minutes.

I think because I’ve been cooking all day, I’m not really that hungry, but well enjoy a meal together all the same.

Milder weather for us too :)

Happy Friday Once again I have gotten way behind in posting.
January 31 is never a good day for me. Today is the 23rd anniversary of my father's passing. It was very sudden and unexpected.

Last night was a weird night. I was working on a cross stitch and trying to finish a section. Next thing I knew it was almost 2 am. I decided to put away the cross stitch and get some sleep. Then the power went out for just a second. (It had done this twice the previous night.) It came back on and then went out again and stayed out. It was raining outside, but not storming. The power outage woke dh who came into the living room with a flashlight. He eventually went back to bed, but left me a flashlight because I hate sitting in complete darkness. I could not get back to sleep. I eventually dozed off in my recliner, but woke up with a headache since I couldn't use my CPAP. The power finally came back on at 7:15. Still no idea what caused it.

Not great TBH, scheduled to do major surgery in early March. Slept on it, options given just not sitting right with me.
Hope you are able to find a solution that you are comfortable with.

Vets still do that there?
My vet still does nail trims. I don't know about the others in this area. I think most of the groomers only cater to dogs.

His two were both feral, knew when he adopted. They are sweet boys but, not the sort to cuddle on your lap or permit more than some petting. Seriously hate to be picked up at all by anyone but him. Going to be a challenge. I’m taking long oven mitts!
Sounds a lot like Caspian.

I’ve never heard of anyone centering a trip around that but, that’s the beauty of Disney…so much to do to appeal to everyone. Hope it works out for you.
Oddly, that was the one thing he really, really wanted to do. He also wants to do one of the after hours events, but none of those were scheduled during our week either.

I have been thinking over buying a seasonal pass, but wonder if I would use it???
When I bought my first one it was the exact same cost as the 2 day, park to park ticket I had planned on buying. It's more expensive now, but if I make just 2 trips during the year it pays for itself.

After 5 days of No Water due to our well pump dying, we now have water.
Yikes. I don't know how I would handle that many days without water. I suppose I could shower at the Y.

we did Manta and Mako before hitting shows and exhibits.
I am unfamiliar with Mako, but Manta terrified me when I first saw it. I took pictures while B and dh rode.

Went to give blood this morning, and no issues this time, donated and left all within a decent time.
I wish I could say that. I gave blood once and it was not a pleasant experience. I have terrible veins.

Lovingly cold month coming up. Including that loving weekend that ends with the bonus Monday. Yep, and it’s the last federal holiday, until the next start of the run of holidays at the end of May. But as February is our shortest month, it should fly by as fast or faster than January which has felt gone by so fast
It's funny how sometimes our weather is very similar and then other it is so different. We are expecting temps in the 60s for part of next week.

old the lady at the desk in the morning that I had fallen last night and to have their maintenance person put some salt on the area as someone could easily break something with a fall there. She said they did not have salt as they never usually get that cold there. I told her how about a shovel. They can break up the black ice and scoop it away that would help. She told me she would look into it.
That's a poor excuse. They know the bad weather is coming and should prepare accordingly. Hope you are feeling less sore after that fall.

Work has been busy. Manager is away on vacation for 2 weeks - which is nice as her manic decisions lately have many of wondering WTH is going on. We are just doing our regular old routines and the days are flowing nicely again - without her trying to paddle upstream and change the work flow.
My days without my boss in the office are few and far between, but I always enjoy them. It's amazing how productive you can be when no one else is around.

Ah, nothing like seeing deer run in front of you as you speed along, in the neighborhood right before I turn into the main road into the city. Enough excitement for me today.
Yikes! I have never hit a deer, but dh has come really close.

Good morning my sunshines
I am envious. I still have 36 more days.

I should be cleaning, but have spent a good portion of the morning consolidating Disney Gift Cards. We have been collecting them over the past several months.

Charade, Wow, you are getting closer to your next trip!

I hope the weather will be warm for you.
And you won’t have to deal with any crowds in the park.
It’s college spring break, so we are preparing for crowds. We are going to try not to stress too much on this vacation. I’ve only made one ADR. We are going to wing it for everything else.

Years ago 1 went during spring break.
It was fun but a bit to crowded for me, but still had a nice trip

you can avoid long food lines and ride lines if you go at an off time period
Go early morning for rides

most take ride breaks to grab a meal and at noon time.
It could have lower lines for the rides if you are there during the lunch hour

might be shorter line waits if you go when people do a lunch break period

This is not a guarantee everyday

It`s always a sad time around anniversaries of the passing of loved ones, we get through the day as best we can.

I`m lucky with veins, I can donate and give blood easily, but appreicate it`s not as easy for others.

We went in March twice for around 10 nights to two weeks and it was busy, and sometimes a little too cool for me. We`re not the biggest Mardi Gras fans, so I doubt we`ll go back at that time again.

Quick drive by before the rather early start to the anniversary party, it`s their actual anniversary tomorrow but today we celebrate. It`s going to be done by around 9pm as many of the guests are farmers, well a fair few of them. But, we do plan to dance for sure after mentioning during the week how many of us don`t go dancing anymore. High heels will be off for that!!

Everything is organised and ready to go, food delivered by all of us that spent time doing it, room has been set up and balloons all delivered too. Should be a nice few hours.

And we have sunshine although it is cold, will have on a full length winter coat to get to the event this afternoon!

Almost time to hit the shower then hair, make up and party clothes on!!! It will be funny coming home at a time we used to go out at when we were younger as I was reminded!!!

Happy Saturday :sunny:

Good Saturday afternoon fellow SANs people, lol!

I am in agreement with being Glad that January has finally passed! Yea for February. We will have another month past that to get rid of all this snow, but it's getting closer. It doesn't take much to make us Northerners happy :rotfl2: it seems, just looking forward to no snow or cold weather:)

Carole, it sounds like you are going to have a fun time dancing. I can't remember the last time we went dancing?

I can't donate blood anymore. It's something we used to do regularly. It seems my blood is too "low" to donate now, and I would just get dizzy if I tried. I really enjoyed doing this to help others, but have to pass on it now.

Charade, I hate when the power goes out. It sounds like you had a miserable night sleeping on the recliner. Our power went out a couple of nights ago, and we lost everything we had taped on our TV!!! Sometimes we lose everything and sometimes we dont'. There's no rhyme or reason to the power outages. And 35 days now Charade:)

Robo, I can't believe the bad treatment you had at that hotel, and after falling too. It seems that they think if they ignore it, you won't sue them! I hope you weren't hurt to badly.

Keisha, hope you have a wonderful cruise!

Hello to Mac, DJ, Lynne, and Pumpkin. I hope you are all doing well.

My daughter and I had a wonderful Friday shopping, eating out, and going to a new antique shop. It always amazes me that I have a lot of those antiques they are selling!

It has started snowing in earnest now and is almost a white out! We are in for some more below zero temps this week, but it is not as bad as last week, Brrr!!!
It's going to be a good week to stay indoors. Today, I am relaxing most of the day - love days like this:)

I just booked all of our Disney transportation. I think I have done all that I can do now to plan this trip. Now we wait.

It`ll be here before you know it Charade.

I haven`t had a rumble around an antique fayre or store for ages!! It is fun sometimes and there are some treasures to find on occasion.

Giving blood is something that not everyone can do for many reasons and if it causes issues like you had, then of course you can`t do it anymore. Like you I`ll do it for as long as I can, it is such an essential thing to do if one can.

Stay cosied up for sure in that weather Ruth, best place to be. And yes, we did have fun dancing, something my back is reminding me of this morning lol.....

The 40th Anniversary Party went really well last night, they made some lovely speeches about each other and it was quite emotional, but they had a band for the evening and they were very good, so we danced like we haven`t danced for a long time and yes we loved it.

Funniest moment of the night was when one American woman, I know her vaguely, announced (bragged) at our table she had once dated Leif Garrett for about half an hour in her teens!! Most of the folks there had no clue who he was and those of us who did, looked at her in disbelief as to why she was telling folks that lol.....I don`t think any of the adult kids had a clue who he was for sure!!

Food went down really well and there was very little left which is what we hoped for. Today we`ll drop round with their actual present which is a gorgeous decanter and six glasses, she had mentioned treating themselves to a new fancy one, so I hope they like it.

Then, lazyish day of some shopping while I have beef in ale simmering in the slow cooker for dinner tonight, doing dumplings and roast veg to go with it. I`ll pop the dumplings in for the last 30 minutes of cooking, I just need to pick up some suet today to make them.

But, the sun is shining, it is gorgeous outside, but still cold at around 38F. Will definitely have on comfy boots this morning for those sore tootsies!!! But it was worth it.

Time to head out soon, teapot is empty and breakfast was lovely, my husband cooks the best poached eggs ever!!

Have a lovely Sunday :)

Glad you made it home safely although sorry you had a fall on the ice, you can do some serious injuries to yourself before you even land!!
Thank you Carole. Always glad when the trip down is over although I do like driving.

Yes, I`ve since learned cornbread in buttermilk is a classic southern dish, I had no idea, but he was enjoying it!! I always enjoy learning about regional dishes from people, some are indeed very unique. Yes, they appreciated the food, many of us are making sure they are ok, they are such a lovely couple that are a wonderful addition to our little village.
I remember tasting the cornbread and buttermilk when I was younger. It is an acquired taste for sure. I don’t care for buttermilk, but adding it to banana bread in the mixing process and some other cakes etc….really adds some nice moisture.

Thank you mum is doing amazingly well and she is also excited for her 90th party!!! We already have our hotel booked and kyle made sure he had a vacation day in for the Monday so he can be there too. Yes, we`ll make sure she has a blast.
Good you hear your mom is well. Glad to hear Kyle will be able to go along for the festivities I’am sure your mom will be over the moon to see you all.

Glad your daughter in law is doing well, yes they do get them up on their feet quickly which is a good thing. After Kyle had his back surgery, next morning they had him going up and down stairs before they considered getting him home, best thing. But continued good wishes for her and a quick recovery would be nice too.
Thank you. My daughter in law is so sweet and she is a trooper.

Glad to hear Kyle did so well with his back surgery when he had it done.

Yes, they don’t mess around with the therapy. It is the best thing for them to be up moving as soon as possibly.

Oh Robo. Scary, is black ice. So sorry to hear you fell. I hope your soreness and bruising goes away fast. Good to hear you arrived there, and with a rocket view on your way. Great pictures you shared.
Thank you Lynne.

Hoping the next two weeks are much much warmer. Just saying.
It looks like the next 10 days in Orlando are going to be wonderful. It is going to hang into the low 80’s during the day and low 60’s at night. Wonderful weather.

I have had that surgery and hope she heals completely and is pain free as much as possible.
Thank you Mac. She is doing well.

If I am not mistaken, believe you had knee surgeries before.

Wasn’t it two surgeries you had?
Yes, I had total knee replacement in both knees.

I remember when you had your knee replacement.

I do adore those pictures you shared with us
Thank you. So glad you enjoy the pictures.

Time got away from me and just checked on Mr Mac again.
Hope Mr Mac has recovered and you are both well.

Weather is currently mild - but will be going into the low -30's for a couple weeks again :cold: Mother Nature can't seem to make up her mind what the weather should be.
Yuck……that is cold weather.

Sending some Florida sunshine your way.

It is great your family is recovering from their surgeries. I hope you didn't hurt yourself with your fall. It is soooooo easy to do.
Thank you Pumpkin. The girls are doing well. I’am sore, but no worse for wear.

up since 3 am, had first hotel shuttle of day to catch Full flight, people dawdled so long boarding/picking seats we missed our departure slot and had to sit on tarmac A certain irony there
Glad to hear you made it safely. Yes, those long early travel days do wear you out.

Good morning my sunshines
Nice photo.

That's a poor excuse. They know the bad weather is coming and should prepare accordingly. Hope you are feeling less sore after that fall.
I know if the local stores did not have salt they could have ordered it. The young lady at the check inn desk said they have never had snow and Ice that she could remember. I believe her as I had never scene snow and ice that far South in Georgia. I hope they did take care of the ice issue.

It’s college spring break, so we are preparing for crowds. We are going to try not to stress too much on this vacation. I’ve only made one ADR. We are going to wing it for everything else.
Don’t stress, just enjoy your vacation.

Robo, I can't believe the bad treatment you had at that hotel, and after falling too. It seems that they think if they ignore it, you won't sue them! I hope you weren't hurt to badly.
It was really a freak Ice and storm that hit them like everyone else in that corridor, but that is no excuse. They really needed to salt to melt the ice. Little bit of preparation on the part of management would have helped.

My concern is that someone much older than me with other medical issues would park then open the door and fall.

I was trying to right myself and ended up falling forward on my left knee which had been replaced a number of years ago and my right arm, shoulder and hip. I’am sore and bruised. It will settle down I hope soon.

My daughter and I had a wonderful Friday shopping, eating out, and going to a new antique shop. It always amazes me that I have a lot of those antiques they are selling!
Sounds like a wonderful mom and daughter day.

That name rang a bell so I looked it up. I think that fella was a British teeny bopper back in the day.

Food went down really well and there was very little left which is what we hoped for. Today we`ll drop round with their actual present which is a gorgeous decanter and six glasses, she had mentioned treating themselves to a new fancy one, so I hope they like it.
It was so nice of you and all their friends to provide a nice home cooked meal for everyone. I bet it was a nice spread indeed. Sounds like a very thoughtful gift for them.

Janet enjoy your vacation in the sunshine.

Up early this morning. Looking at the Palm trees out the slider doors. Lazy Sunday.

Did get a few things done around the house this morning.

Excited to go up for Mardi Gras in a few weeks. Looking forward to a little park time, food and watching the parade. Hopefully by then all the aches and pains will be gone and I can enjoy my time there.

Talked to granddaughter yesterday and she might be able to come down for a few days towards the end of the month. She is doing well.

Will give daughter in law a call later to check up on her.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

I remember tasting the cornbread and buttermilk when I was younger.
Oh Robo I love cornbread. I haven't done the milk in the cornbread before. My sisterinlaw used to break hers up and put it in the milk. She put butter on it first. She was a born and raised Southerner, and I learned a lot from her, some of it I can tell you:rolleyes2, I make my own version of Southern cornbread after playing around with the recipe for a while.

I hope you are feeling better, Robbie. That had to have caused you more pain than you are letting on.

I got up at 5:30 today and started cleaning at 7:30!!!!! Why? I don't know. I usually don't start cleaning until after nine am. Roger helped and we vacuumed and scrubbed the terra cotta tile floors and the bathroom. I cleaned the bath and washed 2 loads of clothes. :laundy: No hanging up clothes yet though!

Now I am super sore and wondering what came over me? Maybe it won't happen again:)

Having lunch now and watching The Mummy with Roger. Will rest the rest of the day.
Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Leif Garrett is American, from California I believe, that`s where this woman lived until she was divorced and made her way over here, she`s quite nice but I find her a little too much, but pleasant for a short time.

Oh it wasn`t a home cooked meal as such, 8 of us in the end prepared a buffet for 140 people, it worked out nicely as everyone could just take what they wanted. I was glad to see my curries and quiches were all devoured as well as everything else.

Hope your GD can come down for a visit, always good to see family.

ruth

lol....I`m "almost" certain it`s not a cruise on this trip!!

Ruth it was hilarious, there were about 12 of us at this table and we were talking about something not really related to anything and then she came out with this random statement about some guy who was famous for five minutes then got into trouble for drugs in the 1980`s lol.....it was very much a "anyway" moment as no one really knew what to say!! I wouldn`t say it was completely alcohol induced as it was fairly early on and I don`t think she had a lot to drink, it was very funny though, I broke the silence by mentioning I met Will from Will and Grace in 2007 lol.....

You have been busy, it`s nice when both take their share of housework, makes it faster to get through. Take it easy now though, The Mummy is such a good movie.

Well, our friends loved the decantor and glasses, I`m so pleased as I spent ages trying to find the right one, they got some beautiful gifts too, although they did instruct no gifts, but you have to for a 40th. They said making all the food was enough, but no one minded.

Had some friends over this afternoon for a couple of hours, passed the day nicely and not long finished dinner, beef was lovely, I couldn`t imagine not having my slow cookers.

We have mango, pineapple and grapes mixed in a bowl for dessert, simple but very fresh, I do have some double (heavy) cream so might top it with that later. But, kettle is on for our evening pot of tea although we did drink a lot of tea this afternoon, well you do with guests.

Lazy feet up night I think, will call my mum too, and that`s another Sunday over.

Hope Janet and her mister are having a blast in Orlando!!!!

Funniest moment of the night was when one American woman, I know her vaguely, announced (bragged) at our table she had once dated Leif Garrett for about half an hour in her teens!! Most of the folks there had no clue who he was and those of us who did, looked at her in disbelief as to why she was telling folks that lol.....I don`t think any of the adult kids had a clue who he was for

::yes::
That is not something I would have bragged about. I was never a Leif Garrett fan. I was into Shaun Cassidy at that time.

I can relate to the second meme. Most of the member ID numbers for our insurance companies have alpha numeric codes. I finally got tired of trying to come up with appropriate words and printed out the phonetic alphabet

Excited to go up for Mardi Gras in a few weeks. Looking forward to a little park time, food and watching the parade. Hopefully by then all the aches and pains will be gone and I can enjoy my time there.
Sounds like fun. I would like to try a Mardi Gras visit sometime. It just won’t be this year.

Did I every tell you that I dated Leif Garrett once for 5 minutes in l967?? lol
😆 I think you meant babysitted. He turned 6 in 1967.

I got up at 5:30 today and started cleaning at 7:30!!!!! Why? I don't know. I usually don't start cleaning until after nine am
You have been very productive. I am barely awake at 7:30.

Nothing interesting to post about today. I am trying not to take a nap this afternoon.

Janet ….did you leave some crumbs for me….to follow and find you….
have not seen you around so assume you are still on vacation some where ….
