Something About Nothing............ #14

Interestingly, I still have mine. My younger brother got his tonsils out when we were kids.

It’s still so sunny, and just heard the AC go on for just a few minutes.

Thankful to see that hurricane heading to FLA, got smacked by a low weather system, and now will hit that state with a tropical storm later this week. Sometimes we get a hurricane, mostly just lightning filled thunderstorms more likely in our summers . Had one of those the other night. Weather channel was still talking of the hurricane that hit us, that was years ago now. Hurricane Sandy did so much damage to our northern jersey shores and flooded Manhattan. Predicting about a half an inch of rain later today. Well, at least our water table is finally getting more full.

And I’m so ready for that full summer temps. You know, mid 90’s with feel like 105, and hazy, hot and humid. The triple H’s I like to hear. That’s when AC becomes king. LoL

Been a quiet morning. And that’s good.

Pool was so nice. When the sun was out, and pool warm. Was so muggy hot out, was nice to go into the pool.

But see the sky after we are dove eating outside: IMG_1662.jpeg

Ooh heard thunder. Phone flashes lightning in area, take cover for the next 30 minutes. Eh, had our burgers and dogs, made bacon cheeseburgers, with pickles, onion and heirloom tomatoes, corn and a giant salad. Have water ice for dessert.

What a nice Sunday, even with sone rain ready to fall.

I’m confused. Do I understand correctly that people used to get their tonsils removed just because that was the thing to do and not because there was a medical problem?? I’m 55 and still have my tonsils.

I used to say the same thing Lynne until I moved to the South.

No longer do I desire those high temps you are wanting.
Where I live it’s all electric and no gas power.

We do like our house in Ocala due to it’s location.
Few houses near it as it’s in the horse section.
Mr Mac said we need to keep it.
Just did a mortgage payment for the house few days back.

Yes that was how it was as when I was child…at age 3 1/2- 4.

where we lived if a child had numerous throat infections, tonsils were taken out.
This was a very common procedure.

Medical practice changed from that probably back in 1953-54?
Each state did it differently

Yeah, Charade, my brother’s were so large, he had trouble breathing. Hence was our when he was, like Mac, I think 4 or 5 years old due to medical reason. Me? Mine are a little large, but have no issues, so I guess that’s why mine were not taken out.

Back to relax, alarm set, trash at curb and will be an earlier bedtime. At least a shorter week, with a 5 day weekend starting on Friday. So will be looking forward to that fabulous Friday feeling for sure.

Hope all have a most restful night, and had a wonderful weekend.

I plan on a tv night later this evening but will come back to see how all are doing during commercial time.

Time for me to call it a night !
Leaving the porch light on in case any of the homies pop in.

Don’t want anyone to stub their toes…

Thanks the the light on Mac.

Oooh twice heard that we had a very noisy dump of rain in the overnight. I bet all is soaked this morning.

Trash truck pickups this morning. Hope no trash cans got blown over with all that gusty rain in the overnight. And, we get more rain today. Saying on the early weather news, could be damaging thunderstorms today.

And more weather news. Yep, no need for that AC last night. Still in the low 60’s overnight. But even with a mostly rainy day, that stormy weather is from the South. Hence, warm day, with 87 degrees the high. And akready muggy, and oddly the UV index is 0. Hence I will have suntan lotion on if I risk a less rainy lunchtime walk. And have shorts on. Yep, hoping that will be standard clothing for months now.

And so, up before the sunrise, that now is minutes later and later as we are past the summer solstice last week. 5:33 am sunrise here. At least it doesn’t seem like it’s raining when I got up. Back to that week day routine. Early bird time,

And we are back to that most Marvelous Monday. Hope all have this Monday be most marvelous.

Ooh hope all are having a good morning. Light still needed. Brighter out, but no sunshine pouring through my windows. And yep, in about an hour or less, should hear the trash trucks. Yep, it’s a Monday, and hot tea will be plentiful today. Sigh. Those relaxing days went poof. But at least three of the four week day routine days will be teleworking. Stormy tomorrow, as nope, office day. But glad it’s not today. Just saying. 😊

Back to screen viewing,

When May began, we had the ac on and it stays on until temps drop some time in the fall.

You are lucky Lynne on your electric bill.

I don’t know how peeps managed the heat in the south before ac

Growing up in near St. louis area, summers were hot when parental units did not have ac

Me too Mac. We didn’t even have window air conditioning when I was growing up, and we had some very hot summers over the years. When my mom was in her 70’s, my siblings and I paid to put center air in her home. Our home has central air. Still not heard it, but house does feel cool.

Ooh phone just flashed lightning in the area, seek cover. Um, I’m inside. No issue there. Phone also said thunderstorms arriving around 9 am. Yeah, 15 minutes from now. Still not having to be outside. I’ll be watching from my window near my desk. I do have a stoop, but when I was a kid, loved watching storms rolling in from the large porch my family home had. Now, watch from my door, staying inside.

No rain in my area
Just stinking hot here

Of course the ac is still on but cats went out to lay in the sun on our enclosed deck.

Have not a clue what i will fix for dinner
But made potato salad a bit ago so all I need to think of what else we will eat…

Mr Mac surprised me and cut his trip short and he came home.

I blinked and the weekend was over

Friday I was at my healthcare job - so it was a LONG busy day. But as a reward, I had a nail appointment after I was done. I actually stopped at the Starbucks beside the nail salon and picked up a tasty refresher! I don't typically get drinks from there, as they are $$$. It was definitely a nice treat while getting my nails done. They are good now for another few weeks.

We had a great weekend! We went fishing on Saturday. It was a long day though. The lake we went to is a 2 hr drive, but it was worth the drive. This momma caught the most fish!!! They laugh at my choice of lure (hook) and then mumble under their breath when Mom brings in another one  I stopped counting after 20. We do have a size limit they need to be....no keepers were caught. It was a bright sunny beautiful day. I'll post a picture below as it's part of the area where the fires were. The fire took out one whole side of the lake. But it is already starting to regrow already. But it will take many years for the beautiful big trees to regrow. But it was a perfect day!

Geeze....I started this post this AM....and it's now 3:00  Another weird day here at work. I really don't understand people's thinking sometimes. Long story short...someone gave their 2 week notice - and this company's stance is that once people give their written notice...they are done work. If there severance to be paid ( ie 2 weeks + any vacation accumulated ) will be paid after the 2 weeks. That is what they company does - and since we are still basically without a manager until they get that sorted...our VP is standing in for those decisions. It almost resulted in flying fists....and the employee actually damaged some property on the way out the door. :sad2: Sigh....RCMP, witness statements etc etc etc.

@macraven I LOVE potato salad! Sounds like the beginning of a great meal!

@Lynne G Your pool picture :lovestruc I hope your weather warms up for you!

@Charade67 I hope your leg starts to heal.

Well, I should find more papers to shuffle around.

Have a great day everyone! I'm just happy it's another bright sunny warm day here!

Well, so far rain has been East and tornado warning, since expired, was for just North of me. But thunderstorms watch expires at 9 pm tonight, Flood Watch issued too.

Cans back from the curb, and a what for dinner for us as well.

Pumpkin, sounded like s busy and fun weekend. Yay for some nail pampering, with a Starbucks drink. Deserved, for sure.

Mac, did my lunchtime walk. Actually used my sunglasses. But it was so humid feeling. House feels cool, so soup and salad we had for lunch.

Just chilling before someone says hungry and choice of dinner entree. I’m thinking grilled chicken, and we bought tomatoes and peppers, so would go good on grill too. Hmm, I’m not quite hungry yet. But my be my voiced choice when I hear I’m hungry noises.

Yum!!!! I'm thinking grilled burgers here. I'll turn mine into a hamburger salad as I don't feel like a bunch tonight...but as a salad will be nice. Then dh and ds can have actual burgers and not complain about having to eat salad ;)

Pictures of fishing. One from each side of the lake. 20230624_130434.jpg

You can definitely see the difference.

Have a great evening!

Beautiful pictures, Pumpkin.

Grilled just in time. When went to clean grill, sky got very dark, and clouds moving fast. Heard some impressive thunder, and still hearing it, so glad to be inside.

Made some coffee, as nice after dinner for me. Sometimes I still drink tea, but after a good meal, I like to enjoy a cup of coffee. Last of the coffee and vanilla flavored gelato, as good dessert with my hot coffee.

Ah, per my radar, those blobs of lots of rain passed by me West of me. And we are getting a light rain, to stop soon. Fast moving storm.

Lynne does the coffee ever wire you when you drink it in the evening?

I was an addict for coffee for years but went cold turkey 3 years back.

Quick good evening. Nothing much to report today. We thought we were going to get severe thunderstorms with high winds and hail possible today. We got nothing.
The heat and humidity have returned though. I don't know how people lived in the south without a/c either. We have had central air for as long as I can remember. We probably didn't have it when we lived in Alaska, but I don't remember those years.

Nothing on TV, so I think I will finish my book.
