Someone tried to steal my truck!!

It was a week ago this past Thursday. I was at work and one of our drivers came in about 2:30 and said "Lisa you should move your truck up....you're kinda blocking the driveway"....I looked at him puzzled and went out where it was. It was moved back about 6 feet. He said "did you forget to put it in park?"....I thought maybe I did.

So, I went to move it up and when I got in the truck the whole steering column was torn apart!!! I guess my truck has one of those cut off things on the engine that if you don't use the key it only stays started for a few seconds.

The ironic thing (and the thing that upsets me most) is my keys were right there on the floor!! They didn't see them at first but must have afterward because they took them!!! They must have felt like real idiots though!

The only keys on it were for the truck and suburban....but I had like about 30 key chains (I collect them) from EVERYWHERE!!! They were ones I collected throughout the years!!! Anytime anyone would go on a trip they would buy me one!!! I am soooo upset about my key chains!!!! Even my WDW and Castaway Cay ones are on there!! as well as ones from GA, TN, TX, PA, OH, NY and many more!!!! I don't even care if they took my truck really.....I want my key chains back!!!!

Anyway, we had to have it towed and it is still in the shop!!! 1700.00 worth!!!!

When I called the PD when it happened....she said "Let me guess....its a Dodge Ram truck"....I said "how do you know??"....and she said they have 4-5 calls a day for stealing them!!!! In fact, my friends FIL and BIL (2 different houses) had theirs stolen out of their driveway within the last couple months!!!!! What they want is the wheels......they are really cool wheels!!!!

Anyway, just thought I would let you know about my terrible week!!!! I haven't even driven a car in over a week now!!!!! It is kinda weird!

OMG!! That's terrible! What a bunch of bumblers they must have been to have torn apart the steering wheel with the keys right there. I am glad you live in an area where you felt comfortable leaving the keys in the car, but maybe you will feel differently now?

I know...I have ALWAYS left my keys in my vehicle.....that way I know where they are....and I even leave my house unlocked when I leave anywhere.....I think I am going to change my ways....I have always been too trusting of a person.....but I guess times have changed.....it's sad!!!

Ibelieve.....you hit it right on the nose!!! And it really upsets me that I feel like that.....I guess once you are "violated"...and thats what I was.....there is no going back!!! I don't even want to go in that truck again knowing someone was in it!!!!

Didn't know the wheels on the Ram truck werel desirable. I'll have to look at one in the parking garage. I feel for you on the sense of security violated too. Radio was taken out of my car the same night as my neighbor's laptop was stolen from his trunk.
