As inspired by another thread. I've been looking for someone to help clean my home. Just someone to come buy once every other week. I had asked around church, and was given one woman's name, but she isn't accepting any new houses.

How do you find someone to clean your home? I don't want to let just anyone in, but I'm really not sure how to find someone.

Thanks.

try Angieslist.com in your area~ there are reviews and comments to help you decide.

You have to pay to join Angie's list, and if you google it, you'll find many complaints about it. My sister has had good luck with Servicemagic.com, which is free, but they don't have housecleaners in my area.

I'd keep trying word of mouth. I'm in the same boat and have gotten a few recommendations that I still have to contact. The women I know personally isn't taking more clients.

I use The Maids; they send four people and it's done in about an hour. They come every other week. They use their own equipment and cleaning products and I've had no problems.

From what I heard you have to pay to be on the list. I don't trust it. I trust a friends word of mouth.

When I first moved to MA and was looking and had no one to ask; what I did was look in our local town paper for house cleaners/cleaning ladies and called 3 ladies and interviewed them and then called their references!

It worked out great that way. I had that cleaning lady for the longest time until her DH was offered a job that had her move out of the area. My cleaning lady then gave me the name of a lady that she liked allot that she was giving all her clients to! I had her until I moved to CA.

New to CA, I live in a very nice gated community and my leasing office gave me the name of the cleaning service that they highly recommend! :thumbsup2

I actually asked the lady who does my hair! I figured if she could keep a busy salon clean, she could keep my house clean. :)

I called her and luckily she had an opening - she does both residential and businesses. She been with us about 2 years now and it definitely helps keep my stress level in check knowing that my house will be cleaned top to bottom every other week. With our busy schedules I just couldn't do it all myself, and trust me - I tried.

Good luck!

I sent an email out to friends and neighbors asking for recommendations. Got a few responses and followed up with a couple of leads. We have been very happy with the person who has been cleaning for a few months for us now. Good luck!

I use Merry Maids. My house is over 2,000 sf and they come once every four weeks. They will send two or three people and I pay $90 per visit.

I found mine through a friend. She was doing my friends house and had glowing recommendations. I've been using her for 8 years now and lover her! She comes once a week and does my 2,500 sq ft house for $60.
