I wonder how this will impact limo/towncar services. Think they'll have to be innovative to compete? Sounds from the press release that Mears will be running the transportation, and I'm not overly interested in riding in a van full of people and stopping at several hotels before we get to the one we're staying in, but it is free.

Thoughts?

I would definitely give it a try, since it's free. AS long as I have a seat on the bus, and not have to stand, how bad can it be?

I used Mears twice, a town car once, and a limo twice. Of course the limo was the best, but we didn't "need" to use one. It was just to make the vacation more exciting.

The first time with Mears, we were on a coach bus, and it was actually a pleasant experience. The second time, it was a van, and I wouldn't want to do that again. It was uncomfortable to be sitting so close to people.

So if the free Disney transport is a coach bus, I'd try it. I want to get to my resort as soon as possible, but it wouldn't be unbearable to make stops at other resorts and see them for a few minutes, especially the ones I'd never seen before.

So its going to run from mco to wdw right ? at no charge and know reservations correct ?
We have taken several car services since 1997 runs about 65.00 plus 25 % tip and limos 130.00 plus 25 % tip , I think I can be as happy with this free bus service as much as I can use the Dis Bus'es to the resorts and water parks and AK , MGM as well as boats or monorail,
But I do believe that this expence will be passed on by Dis some how, and I think its a Dis test to see if thjey want to persue the monorail system fron mco to wdw .

You are correct. It is free of charge to guests staying on Walt Disney Property after 5/5/05. This is part of the new celebration Disney is doing. This is the new celebration that is expected to last 18 months.

Also, this is the same thing Disney has been doing for years for the cruise. This is nothing new, just an added bonus to guests staying during the new celebration.

Not exactly. They charge $50.00 per person roundtrip for the cruise transfers!

Vans will not be a part of this service.

Am I correct in assuming that you do not need to purchase a package? What a wonderful thing. Wonder how they will handle the tolls from the airport and back? Will greatly cut down on that revenue I am thinking.

I'd be fairly certain that the Mears busses used for this service will have Sunpass/Epass transponders installed. Part of the Sunpass/Epass program includes a discount on the tolls for vehicles with a higher # of transactions per month.

Hi Eric

Thank you for answering yet another of my endless questions. I am just plain full of (it) them. Ya know what I mean. LOL

I am going to have to look you up on my next trip even though I think we did sort of meet. Is hard to know who you met when you are exiting the parks at the end of a long day. Brain drain and all.

You are a big part of why we return so often. I cannot imagine many jobs where people would spend their own time (off duty) answering questions and all for no tips!

May all your guests be grateful and attentive.

Slightly Goofy/Linda
