Someone gave DD & friends ToT FPs. How does that happen?

DD and friends are at HS today and the wait for ToT was 2 hours, but they got in line anyway. (It was almost 3 hours earlier in the day.) Or else they were GETTING in line. (She texted me.) While getting in line, or once in line, someone handed over their ToT FPs which were valid at that very time. So DD and friends used the FP and rode ToT, skipping the 2 hour wait.

This was fantastic luck, especially since the park is at least a 9 today and possibly a 10. I was thrilled for them, but I thought FPs were done via your magicband now. Are some still paper FPs? Can someone clear this up for me?

Paper FPs may be offered for Guest Recovery reasons. But other than that, they're completely phased out.

Yes, to solve a guest issue, WDW will sometimes issue paper FPs. Otherwise, paper FPs were phased out quite some time ago. So if a guest received some of these special FPs, they could certainly give them to someone else if they couldn't use them!

So their luck wasn't just really good luck, it was amazing luck? Out of all those people in line, someone picked them to hand over those golden tickets to... Wow.

I thought paper FP were a thing of the past.
