I need some convincing. We just booked a week at POFQ in August. This is a surprise trip, we're not telling the kids until the morning we leave. we stayed at Fench Quarter last year and loved it. It's $400 more to stay here than at Pop. The main reasons we chose the way we did is size of PO, and we had not so great bus experiences the last we stayed at Pop. I'm now having a little buyer remorse, thinking we could just do Pop, save the 400, and enjoy a couple nice meals. Any opinions???:confused3

We have stayed at POP but POFQ looks so appealing to us. I would stay at POFQ(and probably will the next time we go..still wrestling with the decision as well) because of the theming, rooms are bigger, slide.....just seems more relaxing too and not a over the top with theming. POFQ would get my vote.

Will not having the $400 break your trip? If so change now. If not, pros and cons or flip a coin. Remember one bad experience at a resort doesn't mean it will always be a bad experience. I had a terrible experience with transportation in Paris and coming back from DLP but I love the park the best. Transportation is one of those unpredictable things you either get it really good or not so good and some times really bad.

I'd stay in the hotel. The memories from the hotel, pool, etc. Will stay with you forever. The memories from the meal will leave the the next morning.

Honestly we had a similar experience for our upcoming trip. We’re staying at POR. We chose the upgrade so honestly we could have queen beds as opposed to double beds. I am will to spend a little extra to avoid being wacked around in my sleep by either my kids or my hubby who rolls around all night. Also we have done Pop the last 4 trip so we wanted a little something special for our surprise trip! I will tell you I did change our reservation a few times this trip: Caribbean Beach to Pop, back to Caribbean beach, then to POR royal room. No more changes for us!!!! Hope you have an amazing time!!!

If spending the extra $400 is a big strain on budget, the switch may be worth it to save $$. You'd still be at WDW and enjoying the magic.

If it's within your budget, I'd stay at POFQ. Wonderful atmosphere (much more relaxing than Pop), pool slide, hot tub, queen beds, boat to DTD, and a great sister resort with another pool slide, marina, & Bob Jackson's show.

I was doing the same thing. Going back and forth between CBR and the POP. it's just myself and DS9 going. we ended up going the POP and choosing the water park extra on the tickets. For us I think its pefect.
Whateva choice you make it will be perfect for u and ur family.:cool1:

Spend the extra and stay at POFQ....... It will be hot and unless you will be commando at the parks every day it is so nice for the kiddos to have the slide and boat to DTD not to mention the entertainment ...:goodvibes

you will LOVE POFQ< dont give it a second thought and have a wonderful time making amazing memories with your family. And if you have the time and can see Piano Bobs free show with your family over at the sis resort POR (either boat or walk) do so, you'll ALL have a great time...

We just stayed at POFQ in April. Worth every extra penny. The resort shares a bus with POR but it always stops at POFQ first. You can walk to POR and use the facilities there too. I found the food at both resaorts resonably priced ( as Disney food goes..lol) . The Boat to DD is def a plus and a nice evening ride. If you are going to spend anytime at the resort at all in the pools go with a moderate, they have slides.
:):)

I am the LAST person you want to hear from. No really:rotfl:

We have 5 this trip and have gone back and forth on our choice 700 times.
2 rooms at Pop?
Suite at AoA?
Fort Wilderness Cabin?
2 rooms at a mod?
Bonnet Creek?

You get the picture.
In the past I always would have told you to go for the mod. I love them and find they make for a way more relaxing trip.
But now that we are going more often, the budget side of me is kicking in. If you think you would enjoy POP, $400 is a lot of money for souvenirs or special meals or to add waterparks.. whatever appeals to you.

In the end only you know what is best for your family. I chose to save 1000 and go for 2 rooms at Pop because that's what made the most sense for our family this time. Sometimes you want the relaxing quiet layouts of the mods and sometimes you are just there to hit the parks and have fun.
Good luck in your decision. I know its not an easy one:)

400 dollars for the upgrade to FQ is well worth it. It is a wonderful resort.

Especially because you are going in August, I would keep Port Orleans French Quarter. It is so hot in August, and the covered bus stop, smaller resort size, nicer pool, cute slide, additional foliage, etc.--all those things add up!

THANK YOU for posting this thread. I've been wrestling with the same question, well, mostly the same: for us it's AllStar Sports (which we LOVED), or POFQ. I really worry that my kiddoes won't love the theming as much as they did at sports, but to have the boat to DTD, the extra room, and the proximity to POR, I'll take that chance.

Now if only they'd release the 2013 package rates, I could finally book my ressies and stop all of this second guessing!

I'd stay at POR also. Try something different. In the grand scheme of Disney, $400 is'nt all that much more for a room with bigger beds, a pool with a slide, more food/activity options. Don't get stuck in a rut- I'll bet you'll love any Disney resort you stay at, and for more $$ you get a different experience, and maybe a better one!

If you do not intend to spend any time at the resort, and just comando the parks though, I would just do POP. But POR/FQ has incredible theming, and I think you should definitely spend some time at the resort. It has it's own Disney magic!

I'd choose Pop and use the money for eating or shopping. But I'd choose Art of Animation or All Star resorts over Pop.
