We have been contemplating/planning a 3-night Disney Cruise followed by 7 nights at WDW (2 @ AKL and 5 @ WL) to celebrate our 5th anniversary. We plan to take the kids (two boys who will be 14 and 3 when we go), but now have another one on the way who'll be about 8 months for the trip in July 2005. We have no qualms about having an 8-month-old at Disney World, but now I'm nervous about the cruise. Anybody willing to try talking me back into it? BTW, we've never been on a cruise before.

My 1st suggestion is to do Disney 1st and then the nice relaxing cruise. I say you should definately go. They will have plenty for everyone to do. You can put the 8 month old in the nursery a couple of times for a couple of hours while your other 2 are in their respective kids clubs and then the 2 adults can have some good quality alone time. My Dh does not like to vacation but he loved the cruise and we are doing the 7 night in Nov. We started with the 4 night. Your only problem is going to be that you will think 3 nights is not long enough and you will end up booking a 7 night while you are still on the ship. Have a great time and congrats on the newest member.

I think the cruise with an 8 month old would be easier than wdw with an 8 month old. Flounders looks great and if baby needs a nap or a change of clothes, etc... seems easy to pop back to your stateroom. If you are at the parks however it seems like a headache if the baby is having a bad day for 1 person to go back to the hotel...
The bad news- when you switch from 4 people to 5 people the price for the cruise increases dramatically. You will either need a cat 4 stateroom (pricey) or 2 staterooms of a lower category. If you want connecting rooms you must book cat 10 or higher.
Congarts and good luck

Thanks CheapMom, I didn't realize they'd make us book two rooms or a catagory four because of an infant; I thought they'd let us set up a portable crib in a four-person stateroom. Ha anyone else run into this?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there is no room for a crib in the cabin with 4 others. The cabin space is designed for sleeping and primping and that is about it when you have 4.

Now I have to decide if we'd rather two catagory 10 rooms that adjoin or one catagory 4, with a price difference of about $600. How much nicer is the catagory 4 going to be?
