Just called the Rose and Crown......the lower waterfront terrace rental(which was mentioned in the new "ALL EARS" newsletter) is only available for party's of 20 people. You must book 20 people at one time ,Or 10 couples would have to book at the same time. I asked how much would it cost if i booked the whole thing, just for wifey and myself, Rick said "700-800 dollars, but that includes dessert and beverage!
How difficult would it be to sign up 20 Dis'ers for January 9th?

On your 25TH If I and DW were going to be there on that date you bet we would sign up with you.I think you will be able to get it done just keep your post on 1st page.Good Luck

It is called an Illumination Dessert party and It is very good. I did it in Sept and we had no problem getting the people. Post it on the Illumination board for the month you want it with the details and you won't have a problem but explain its a great view and the treats are yummy.

Just to clarify: it can be booked for two people only, correct? I was so excited when I read the newsletter today and my fiance was interested in booking it.

CM "rick" said it cannot be booked for only two people. it must be 20!

As mentioned this is called an Illuminations Dessert party and can be booked at several locations. I have one booked but we opted for the French Island Upper which is located between the UK and France. It is that little island that goes out off of the bridge between UK and France. We choose that location as opposed to the UK location because me kids are really bothered by the Fish smell from the Fish and Chips place. You really are not charged to rent or reserve the place. What you are charged is a per person fee based on which Dessert Item you choose and there is a minimum of 20 people. In our case we may have less than 20 but we just need to pay for a minimum of 20.

Sorry to be unclear. If we are willing to pay the full fee (for 20), can it be booked for two people?

We will be doing this party next week for the second time. It is my understanding that the party minimum cost must be $700, which would be the average for about 20 people. However, if someone wanted to pay that amount for just 2 people (crazy as that may seem), I don't see why Disney would have a problem with that, as long as they are making the minimum amount of $700. By the way, the Illuminations Dessert Party is wonderful and I'm hoping that it next week it will be the highlight that it was last year.

Its smarter to get more people then just the 2 of you. Its big enough for privacy if you are going for romance.

So basically, we're talking a *minimum* of $45 per person for dessert and a good view of Illuminations, right? ($700 divided by 20 people) Okayyyyyy...seems a bit pricey to me, even for Disney

Cinderella 37- Unless the policy has changed since August, you can book it with less people. You do have to spend a minimum of $350 on food and beverage. You can also arrange dinner instead of desserts. There are small party fee, attendant fees, set up charges etc. The $350 frequently runs us about $700 when all is done(we also tip). We've done it a few times with 5 and 7 people.

Sixcats - thank you so much for your wonderful information. I really appreciate it. It sounds like it would be a lovely dinner and a great time.:D

You must be thinking of a different space because Illuminatuion Dessert is just Dessert and we paid $34 a person. We had A little over 20 and it was great and roomy.

This sounds great! My DH and I are planning a trip Jan 11 - 18 as a belated 15th anniversary trip. We missed Illuminations last year and I would love to be able to watch while enjoying a scrumptious dessert.
Where can I get more information??

We were to have my DH's Birthday party at the lower terrace two years ago. The party included a catered dinner and it was rainy that day so we moved it to a special area at the Living Seas, where we were able to eat in front of the aquarium (but it wasn't Coral Reef). It stopped raining, so we still did the B'day cake at the lower terrace and watched Illuminations. There's no better place to see Illuminations! :)

does this mean that there's no chance of dinner on the terrace? I booked the cp at 5 and dinner at 7:10 at the R&C with the chance (however small it may be) of eating on the terrace, but if there's no chance...... Teppanyaki room here I come!
