The administration has reserved a parking space for me closest to my classroom while my hip is healing. It was announced at a staff meeting as well as posted in the staff bulletin. So far this week the same car has parked in my space (it's marked with an orange cone) the school secretary even paged the owner yesterday before school started to please move their car, and no one responded. i'm hoping that it's just someone who didn't realize tha a space marked with a cone was reserved:rolleyes: , and not someone who is just choosing to ignore the request from the administration.

That's totally wrong. People like that frustrate me. I hope you get it taken care of soon. They need to stop.

I hope you got your space back. Peaple can be rude, I find that all the time and this is no exception. let us know if you got your space. Hope your hip is feeling better.

I'm not surprised that this happened. It's amazing what some people will do to get a good parking space. I see it all the time at my children's schools.

Instead of the secretary announcing that the person move his or her car, can she just page the owner by giving the make and model of the car/tag # and request they report to the office?

I hope you get your space back soon.:D

I hope ;you get youir space back today. If you don't run a check on the license yourself and talk to that person.

People with whom I work respect each other's reserved spaces, but sometimes people who are going to the dry cleaner, hair salon, video repair place, etc., park in our spots.

On the occasion that various people have come back from lunch or a meeting to find their spot occupied, they have taken to parking directly behind the person in their spot. That way, when they come back, they have to go to the receptionist to get us to move our cars. We then explain to them what the "Reserved" means that is painted in the spot and what the signs mean for "Bank Employees Only" mean.

If we're really in a bad mood about it, we have stickers that go on their front windows telling them that they'll be towed at their own expense.

They don't park there twice.

So far, none of the errant parkers has harmed any of our cars. :)

I say have them towed. Plenty of notice has been given. If they haven't gotten the message yet, a trip to the tow yard will bring the lesson home.

We pay for a parking spot behind our apt. building & we had a person who thought she could just park there. After a couple of trips tracking her down, we told our landlord to give us the number for the tow company. He must have told her that we were going to tow her next time because she stopped parking there.

That's just rude! Perhaps if the secretary made an announcement such as: "Would the owner of the (insert model type here), license plate #12345 please report to the parking lot. Your car is on fire." That may get their attention!:D

I would leave a note first and then have it towed...

I'm curious....can you just have a car towed if there isn't really any law being broken? From the original post ,it seems as if there was a verbal announcement that Kteacher was to have that space while her hip healed. Aside from that, can they just tow a car if you call them?

I agree, unless it's marked with something other than just an orange cone, you couldn't just 'tow' it.

I'd leave them a warning note saying it WILL be towed, signed by the principal. I bet they dont park there anymore....

ROFL...I like that one. :teeth:

Maybe it's a parent or visitor who doesn't know. One of the rules in the handbook from DS's school is that teacher's parking spaces are NOT to be parked in. Parents still park in them in the morning when dropping off kids.

LOL!!! I love the suggestion about making the announcement that the car was on fire! an announcement was made yesterday giving the make ,color and model of the car with no results. If it was parked there again today I was going to leave a note on the windshield asking the owner to please show some compassion for my injury and let me park in the space reserved for me. It was definitely a staff member's car as it was always there from the start of school till after school got out. Luckily it was not in my space today:) . Hopefully the announcement in the bulletin did the trick!
