Some rumors

Aquatopia from TDS is a fun family ride. I've read mixed reviews of it, but I liked it, especially at night. I'm not sure how it is generally received.

The only things at WDSP are theatre shows like Cinemagique and Animagique. Don't see much there.

d000ds, I totally heard Fire Mountain, or Villian mountain is going in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111

(I'm joking)

Also, I've never noticed the sound track at WDW's pirates. It sounds like Greg hasn't either. Perhaps his eyes will be opened come memorial day.

Hhmmmm...all of this is very interesting. It seems the trend is to add attractions to WDW that are popular in other parks and tweak them a bit. The Stunt Car show at MGM, Expedition Everest (Matahorn Bobsled), Soarin', etc. So perhaps the question is, what popular ride/attraction is missing at WDW that has draw elsewhere and would "fit" in the 20,000 Leagues spot.

Perhaps instead of trying to devine the next ride to be duplicated, we should be disgruntled that they aren't coming up with something new and different.

I don't think folks are going to be disgruntled with Soarin' or Expedition Everest at WDW.

Mission Space was a new ride as was Micky's Philharmagic.

It's smart business to expand on ones success. WDW wouldn't exsist if not for the "testing ground" of Disneyland.

I do notice it. But, it's hard to hear. It comes right at the bottom of the drop, so it's competing with 1) guests screaming and laughing briefly, 2) the splashing sounds of the boat settling down, and 3) the boat banging against the left and right sides of the rails as it passes through just below the drop. I catch the ending part of it. Years ago I had to go searching on the web to find out exactly what was said. And, yes, the cursed treasure can be the tie that binds film and attraction. But, the cursed, damned, walking dead really stretch beyond the vision of the attraction - I believe. At least in the spirit that the attraction is currently presented. The song that the pirates are singing throughout the attraction leads you to believe that they really enjoy their lot in life. Not so the pirates of the Black Pearl.

And, YoHo, you are dead on. I can't wait to see the original Pirates. After roughly 200 trips through the paled-in-comparison copy (as I am so frequently reminded by you Wrong Coasters), I finally will get to experience the attraction as Walt intended it.

Right. Clones are just a fact of life in business and without the economies of scale we would not see many of the attractions we enjoy today. I hate to think that they didn't put Splash Mtn. into WDW because they didn't think guests would want a clone. Most people would not make it out to California to see Soarin' or Star Tours.

Also, consider all the attractions that originated at WDW that have been transplanted in other parks - RnRC, TZTOT, Buzz, Muppet movie, Bug movie. It's a two way street. I've also read that Alien Enouncter and Mission: Space had clone potential in mind when they were built.

A lot of it is simple economics, too. Many would argue that Mission Space was a failure given its somewhat limited appeal and hundreds of millions in development and construction costs. But Soarin' was a guaranteed Epcot hit before the first shovel hit the ground.

Yes, it is wise for Disney to continue to innovate--we don't want stale retreads of the past. But leveraging the grand successes among multiple parks reduces the overall risk whenver Disney decides to loosen the purse strings.

Personally, I have absolutely no problem with clones. If Bob were to announce tomorrow that Journey to the Center of the Earth, Stormrider, Temple of the Forbidden Eye (or Crystal Skull) were all coming to WDW, I'd jump for joy.

I don't, in theory, have a problem with Clones....as long as they also opene thier share of good new rides. I'm also worried that as Disney expands the number of foriegn parks and builds up Disneyland, those clones will lose a lot of appeal, because you can ride them elsewhere.

Oh no. Stormrider is part of my Monterey Bay expansion at DCA, and Journey should be put into DL, not WDW. :) Oh, and I'll take Mickeys Philharmagic and Test Track as well.

You can have Test Track. Just send some shipping boxes East, I'll pack it for you.

No problem. My daughter and I will be pleased. I'll use the same boxes to send back our innovations.

I'm with Chernabog. I C A N ' T S T A N D that Winnie the Pooh. I even remember when I was a kid being so *yawn* bored with him and his friends! Ugg! I remember waiting impatiently for Wonderful World of Disney on TV and getting all excited - and then they would show a stupid Winnie The Pooh cartoon. Arrgghh!!! Oh, my little life was ruined for the week, how horrible! I know of only One person, my SIL, who actually liked him - and still does.
I can't believe they're wasting space with more Pooh! Even when my kids were toddlers, preschoolers, little kids, and now, they don't even like that dumb bear!

I agree with the other posters, stick the Villian Coaster in there!!!! :smooth:

Oops.....Duplicate post. The boards are slow tonight - too many DIS'ers on!

I don't buy Pooh things, books or video. They are looking forward to this ride. It is lame enough to let them go in their own car.

Apparently, many feel otherwise, as Pooh is #2 on Forbes.com's most valuable fictional characters list (after Mickey, although in prior years Pooh has been #1):

Success is as sweet as honey for Disney's Winnie the Pooh and the 100 Acre Wood gang. Grossing $5.6 billion last year, Winnie the Pooh has proven once again that this Disney legend is a survivor whom fads can't push its pedestal.

I was at MK yesterday and noticed that Pooh had the longest standby time of any attraction in FL so that must say something about his popularity. Even longer then the rehabed IASM. Anyone know what's up with Peter Pan? It was closed for rehab.

I've always liked being different, I never follow the crowd.....You see, while everyone is waiting on line for one ride on Pooh, we've ridden five other rides we really like. However, when Pooh opened, we did give it a shot, just to see what it was all about. It was a nice ride and I tell my friends their kids might like it.....But I still think Pooh is Bleeaahhh :crazy2:

We were there a few weeks ago and Peter Pan was up and running. That is one ride that definitely needs a dusting!
As for IASM, that's just a staple there that you've gotta ride even if you don't like it. The last time we were there IASM was closed and when we went just recently, we rode it and it was nice. You can tell they've cleaned it up, but it really hasn't changed for the most part. I saw photos on this board while they were refurbishing. I really appreciate those sneak peeks!

Yeh, he's popular because he thrust upon us at every turn! Just go to any store and browse through the children's department. There will be at least one item that has Winnie the Pooh on it. And if it's not the Disney cartoon character Pooh Bear, it's the originally drawn character which was more recently jammed in our faces! :crazy2:

I just feel that an area as big as 20,000 leagues could have better utilized. This is nothing more than a lack of creativity, kinda like the animation department marketing sequels, 1/2 sequels and remakes. :sad2:

Hey, who knows, maybe this will be better than expected! From what I recall, the Hundred Acre wood was a real adventuresome place!

20000 leagues lagoon is being turned into a Nemo attraction, still with the subs, which is currently in the works. The rumor of the Pooh playground is for the former motor boat cruise area, near Small World. A much smaller area that has been empty for some time.

The Nemo sub attraction is reportedly in development for DisneyLAND. The Disney WORLD lagoon is....gone. It was filled in last year, and the 100 Acre Wood playground is under development.
