Some Ride Questions

Our trip is quickly approaching. :cheer2: As we get closer to the date I have a few questions about rides. My mom is going with us on this trip but we hit a bit of a snag. A couple of months ago she fell and ended up with a hairline fracture in one of her vertebrae. :sad2:

At first we figured rides of any kind were just going to be out. She still wanted to come since she's a huge Potterhead and figured she'd just have some butterbeer, see some shows, soak up the atmosphere and be our bag holder so we can avoid the lockers. However, her back is healing and she now thinks, with her doctor's permission of course, that she's going to be able to ride some mild rides. :cool1:

To give you an idea about what she can/can't do she has been instructed NOT to ride a riding lawn mower because of the constant vibration and chance of hitting sudden bumps and being jerked around. But cars have mild vibrations which are okay- she was cleared for longer trips in the car (before it was nothing more than 1/2 an hour without stopping) a few weeks ago.

She also had to forgo canoe trips earlier in the summer because of the twisting motion of paddling but was cleared for this as well with the stipulation that she walk through shallow areas instead of risking being jarred by the boat dragging bottom.

So, basically nothing with steady vibrations or that may suddenly jerk or jar her. I've read through ride descriptions here, on other websites and on the UO website and have compiled a list of what I think she can ride, should avoid and some I'm not sure about. Obviously we'll have to use our own discretion and follow the advice of her doctor but I was hoping those with experience on the rides could look at the lists and see if I'm on the right track. :confused3

Oh, and as an aside, she also has vertigo so there's that to consider as well.

I didn't include any rides we don't plan to do; here's what I've come up with...

AVOID: Transformers, Simpsons, FJ, Spiderman, Jurassic Park, Bilge Rat Barges, Ripsaw Falls, all coasters

OKAY: T2 and all other shows, Despicable Me, One Fish Two Fish, ET, Cat in the Hat, Seuss Trolley, castle tour

UNSURE: Shrek, MIB, Disaster, Storm Force, Twister

TIA for any help you can offer! :thumbsup2

Shrek has stationary seats for her. She should be able to do Disaster as well as it has no jerky movements (think Catastrophe Canyon at WDW). Twister is basically a show.

Both Twister and T2 have one little jerky movement in them where the floor (or seat as in T2) drops a bit. Not sure if this would be an issue but probably not.

Thanks for the info! Good to know about the floor/seat drops. Now she can ask her doctor in advance. :thumbsup2

Despicable Me moves quite a bit but there are stationary seats. Also note that Cat in the Hat does spin with some force as does Men in Black.

Spin like tea cups? Or more like Toy Story Mania? Or something completely different?

you have one, maybe a second, section in cat in the hat ride where it spins like the teacups.

Similar to Toy Story Mania where it travels along nicely but then it will do a complete 360 twirl like a tea cup. It also has a few sections where the twirl isn't 360 degrees but is a half twirl. The twirls are enough to shift you along in your seat.

Despicable Me, Shrek and T2-3D have stationary seats, ask the team members for them.
