Here are some random things I am wondering about the rich and famous.

1. Do they have massive credit limits?
2. Who pays their credit card bills -- does Visa send them a bill each month?
3. Do the have rewards credit cards?
4. How much cash do their have in their checking/savings accounts that they could withdraw on any given day?
5. What kind of toothpaste do they use?
6. How come we never hear from people who "slept" with celebrities before they became big?
7. Do they ever clip coupons?
8. If they bought something, and it had a rebate, would they fill it out?
9. Where do they buy their toilet paper? What brand?
10. Do they watch TV?
11. How much CASH do they have available in checking/savings for immediate withdrawal?
12. Do they ever do weird, random stuff in their homes?
13. Do they get mail?

14. Do they still eat Kraft dinner?

I know some very wealthy people, and this is what has come out of various conversations.

1. Do they have massive credit limits?

Massive by who's terms? Most carry AMEX with no limit.

2. Who pays their credit card bills -- does Visa send them a bill each month?

They have a money manager (usually a CPA) who handles their finances for them, and alerts them of any suspicious expenditures--in the case of one friend it was an $800 cell bill one month, and he wasn't happy about it. He had been calling his GF from some little rinky dink towns in the middle of nowhere and it was all ridiculous roaming charges. They also tell them if their spending is becoming too excessive for their income, although most wealthy people I know really don't spend a ton of money. In fact the wealthiest people I personally know do'nt buy tons of expensive clothes or jewelry, drive regular cars, and try not to stand out too much.

3. Do the have rewards credit cards?

Like I said, most use AMEX. A few have airline milage reward cards and donate the miles to charity.

4. How much cash do their have in their checking/savings accounts that they could withdraw on any given day?

No idea, but they use money market accounts or accounts tied to their investments and could proabably access over $50K per day in cash without thinking twice about it.

5. What kind of toothpaste do they use?

Funny you ask, I know one uses Crest original flavor only because we've actually talked about toothpaste. People who are wealthy are no different than you or I, until you get into Billionaire status--and even then many are still just normal Joes.

6. How come we never hear from people who "slept" with celebrities before they became big?

Because they've got class.

7. Do they ever clip coupons?

No idea. Probably not due to either not doing their own shopiing most of the time, or jsut not having time.

8. If they bought something, and it had a rebate, would they fill it out?

One of my friends was proud of himself for getting $50 back from Home Depot on a rebate, so yes.

9. Where do they buy their toilet paper? What brand?

No idea where it was bought, but my friend "D" had Charmin in his house the last time I was there. (These are silly questions--and he wears Hanes boxer briefs if you really must know.)

10. Do they watch TV?

Yup, especially the Simpson's and Leno!

11. How much CASH do they have available in checking/savings for immediate withdrawal?

Didn't you already ask this question?

12. Do they ever do weird, random stuff in their homes?

Like what? They do the same things in their homes that anyone does. Relax. Spend time with their wives/SO's/kids/families. Cook. Make a mess in and then clean the garage. Putter in the garden. Surf the net.

13. Do they get mail?

Why wouldn't they. They get the same junk mail as you and I.

Well I was just thinking does Britney Spears walk to the mailbox and get credit card offers and whatnot. Would she even bother to check the mail?

Thanks for the answers!

I"m sure she's got people that do that for her. Most of my friends who are wealthy fall into three categories.

1. Wealthy and you'd never know. They have a housekeeper come in a couple times a week, but that's it for "help", and they manage their own finances except obviously have accountants for at least the taxes part of their businesses.

2. Wealthy and "famous", but other than a housekeeper a few times a week and business manager, they are regular folks like you and me. They haven't achieved that "Superstardom" level yet where they have every little whim cared for, although one is getting to that point--mostly because his wifes career is also taking off and she's at risk for freaky stalkers.

3. Wealthy and not famous, but like to think they are. I have one person in my life that fits that category, although I've been working on getting him out of my life for a long time--unfortunately for many reasons it's not so easy.

And I"d like to know what you mean by "rich" or "wealthy". To me, wealthy is net worth of over $5M. Anything less is pretty run of the mill these days, and I probably know a couple hundred people who are worth between $1-5M. I'm sure there are at least a dozen or so DIS'ers in that category.

I think she was talking about celebrity types (Britney Spears, Steve Martin, etc) but I could be wrong.

Thank for clearing that up Anne! :thumbsup2 I have 2 "wealthy" friends that live in the DC area.....she NEVER flies and takes a train everywhere. She just bought a Condo here in Coral Gables worth about $450,000.00 Its already paid off too....she comes from OLD money! ;)

In London there are congestion charges. Madonna has been complaining about them, but as a resident she can claim about 95% back.. but she refuses to fill in her telephone number on the application form!

(Of course, I just wish Madonna would leave the UK.. she's always complaining about our country - hospitals, 'the right to roam', congestion charges, etc.)

That's foolish--she could use her business managers number!

The Right to Roam thing is ramblers (walkers, essentially, I think) having the right to 'roam' the countryside. There was some issue where Madonna wasn't happy about the fact that the law allowed ramblers so close to her house. I don't know the exact details though. I'll have a look!
