We got back from our very first trip on Friday and we had a magical time! We didn't wait more than 20 minutes for any ride and we hit all the "big" ones! We did eat some meals in our room and just snacked for some meals. The crew included myself, DH, DS8, DS6, my Mom and DS 6 months.

The counter service restauarants we tried were:
Pizzafari
Wofgang Puck's Express
Casey's
Columbia Harbour House

Table service restaurants were:
Whispering Canyon Cafe for both lunch and dinner
Crystal Palace for breakfast
Ohana's for breakfast
Les Chefs de France for lunch

First day 5/4
___________

We had ADR's at WCC for 6:20. We waited about 25 minutes to be seated.
The restaurant was full and pretty loud. Our boys loved all the craziness and kept asking the waiter for ketchup and gum, etc... My DH and Mom ordered the skillet dinner, I ordered the ribs, DS8 had the kids skillet and DS 6 had the kids mac and cheese. The corn bread was very good and we all enjoyed it. My DH and Mom liked the skillet, with the shrimp, potatoes and beans drawing the highest praise! I thought the ribs were okay, nothing amazing but not bad either. The potatoes tasted good but parts were cold. DS8 loved his skillet, he's very easy to please! DS6 did not care for the mac and cheese and pretty much just ate cornbread, he's our picky one! They both enjoyed the worms and dirt dessert! The service was pretty good. I didn't think my ribs looked done so the waiter brought another plate out and then the chef came out later to make sure they were okay. Don't know if I would go back unless we were staying at the WL again. I definitely wouldn't pick this one if I didn't have the kiddos with me!

As a side note, if you like frozen drinks the "Pina Colava" at the pool bar was really good, I had at least one a day! It was a pina colada with raspberry swirled thru, yummy! :thumbsup2

Day 2 5/5
__________

Lunch at Pizzafari

We got there around 11:45 and the lines were very short and we were easily able to get a table. DH and I had the Italian sandwich, which was surprisingly good. I would definitely recommend it. My mom had the chicken caesar salad, also good. The kids had the pizza (not on kids menu) and they liked it. It reminded me of Boboli pizzas. It was nice to sit inside and cool off!

After lunch, we bought Mickey ice cream bars at a stand for dessert. The kids loved them!

Dinner at Wolfgang Puck's Express

We arrived around 6 and the lines to order were pretty short. I had the Chinois Chicken salad, which I really didn't care for. It didn't have that much taste. I'm a salad nut so I was dissapointed. DH had the Tortilla Soup and the Spicy Chicken and Sweet Peppers pizza. Both were really good, I ended up eating some of the pizza! DS6 had a plain pizza, which was very good. DS8 had chicken strips and fries, also very good. My mom had a calzone type dish, with chicken which was also good. We had great seats outside and the service was good. I would definitely recommend it!

We had dessert at Goofy's Candy Company. Oh yum. We "made" our own candy. I had pretzels covered in chocolate and crushed M&M's and let me tell you, they were delicious! Especially after a few hours in the freezer. The kids loved this place, too! :thumbsup2

More to come later!

Day 3 5/6

Crystal Palace for the Character Breakfast

We had an 8:15 ADR. It was great to be in the park before it opened! I got some great pictures and it was nice not to be in the giant crowd surging in at park opening. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Got a terrific table in the corner in front of the windows. The food was pretty good and there was a huge variety. We especially liked the made to order omlettes, the veggie fritatta, the puffed french toast and kids breakfast pizza. I seriously could have just eaten 10 pieces of that french toast! There really was something for everyone here. We were able to meet all 4 characters (Pooh, Tigger, Eyeore and Piglet). I would definitely recommend this one and recommend going before the parks opens!

Lunch at Casey's

We had a quick lunch at Casey's. All the adults got the hot dogs and DS8 got the corn dog nuggets. The hot dogs were good and my son loved the corn dog nuggets. The fries were really good. This was our first trip so I 've never had the original buns but I have to agree I prefer an all white bun for my dogs vs. a fake wheat one! It was pretty toasty that day so we ended up sitting in the shade on the ground instead of the outdoor tables. This was good for a quick lunch.

We picked up some food at Roaring Forks at the WL that night. I wouldn't recommend dinner there. They did have some good desserts though! (I'm all about the desserts and the drinks!) Mickey ice cream bars, Mickey rice krispy treats, big chocolate chip cookies, etc.. :cool1:

Day 3

Chefs De France for Lunch

I was nervous about this one because I had read some bad reviews on the DIS. We had a 12 pm reservation and were seated right away. We had yet another great, corner table. The waitress brought rolls and butter to start, which were very good. I had the "French menu", which was the onion soup, croque monsieur w/salad and the creme brulee. My husband ate the soup (I don't like onion soup!) and said it was delicious. That was his favorite item. The croque monsier was delicious! The side salad was pretty basic and just okay. I didn't care for the creme brulee. I love creme brulee and thought it tasted burnt and the custard was too cold. DH had the Crepe Basquaise, he enjoyed it but thought mine was better. DS6 had the Gratin de Macaroni, I thought it was delicious and had to restrain myself from finishing it off! DS8 ordered from the kids menu and had the cheese puff pastry and the burger. The "cheese puff pastry" turned out to be a cheese filled croissant and was really good! He liked the burger and fries. I ordered him an Orangina, which he really enjoyed too.

I had a delicious champagne drink that I cannot remember the name of! It was clear and went right to my head! Probably why I can't remember the name!

I would definitely recommend this restaurant! It was a nice break from the park and we really enjoyed the food!

We were supposed to go the Biergarten for dinner but my mom and older son were both exhausted so we we skipped that and hope to make it there next time!

So glad you liked the french toast. It is the one reason we go to Crystal Palace every year (besides the fact that we get to see Pooh and friends every year). I :worship: that french toast!
