Some questions about Spiderman??

I'm a little nervous about Spiderman because I heard there was a big (400 ft) sensory drop off a building. What is that like? I'm okay with roller coasters and star tours type rides, but I hate Tower of Terror or anything else with an "elevator" type drop. Is the drop that bad?

Don't worry. Spiderman is a cross between a simulator and the old haunted house rides (although nothing scary happens). In regards to a 400ft drop I think someone is pulling your leg.

I think most would agree it's a must do.

It only feels like it, but not 400 ft... Really it is a hard to describe ride.

But if I remember correctly, there is a little video of it, on the the Universal Theme parks website. Of course you need a Media Player or something like that, but it will sort of show you.

That just goes to show you can't believe anything you read.. Actually, its just an illusion, you really are no more higher than maybe a few feet! (Someone here can give the exact details)

Yes, it kinda sorta looks like a 400 (or so) ft. drop, but it does not feel quite that way. Don't miss out on the best ride in Orlando for fear of the drop. It just feels like part of the ride.

I'll put it this way- DW hates roller coasters, rode the Tower of Terror once (and NEVER will again), and even dislikes the drops on Jurassic Park and Dudley Do-Right. But Spidey is her favorite ride. She gets the thrill without the danger factor and the fear!

Ride! Enjoy!:bounce:

I'm another who's terrified of drops. I eventually plucked up the courage to do ToT, but I'm in no huge rush to do it again; I did Dudley Doo Right's which left me traumatised and I won't be doing it again; I'm still contemplating Jurassic Park; and whilst I do Splash Mountain each trip, the fear is still there! Oh, and Dr Doom - I don't think so!!!

However, Spiderman is a fabulous ride and not scary at all. Like you, I was nervous the first time because I'd read about the 400ft sensory drop, but it's just that - a 'sensory' drop. You don't actually go anywhere. And unlike real drops where closing your eyes just intensifies the sensation, on Spiderman it's always an option. Try to keep them open, though - I promise you you'll love it!

Spider-Man is, imho, the absolute BEST simulator ride. Key word, simulator.

It's superior to other sims because your vehicle actually moves along a track through the different scenes, it rotates, bounces, tilts, vibrates, and all kinds of stuff like that. All the while, your taking in the show in incredible 3-D.

For the fall, your car bounces a little bit while the walls surrounding you make it look as if your car is falling. Just before "landing", your car will tilt forward to look as if you're about to crash into the street below.

Hmmm... I wonder who keeps you from crashing? ;)

Waaaahhhhh....now I wanna ride Spider-Man......

I'm terrified of drops (and heights) too. I've never done ToT or RnR. The log ride at BG had way too much of a drop for me. I'll never do that again! Like everyone else says the drop on Spiderman is an illusion. If you can handle BttF, Spiderman will be a breeze. That said, the first time I rode it, I became a little scared but quickly realized I wasn't really up high. The second and third times it didn't even seem scary anymore. Have fun!

I am quite scared of big drops and cannot do most roller coasters or log flume rides but I loved Spiderman! The first time I went on I closed my eyes for most of the "drop" scene (only peeking from time to time) but, the next few times, I was able to keep my eyes open.

Spiderman is a great ride!
