British Disers, did you see "Hot Fuzz"? I went about two weeks ago and laughed until I was aching all over! Simon Pegg and Nick Frost were so FUUNNY they almost put Idle and Cleese to shame. I noticed something: I caught most of the jokes but my fellow Yanks didn't get even half of them.
Some of the stuff they missed:
When Pegg is walking past the water fountain to the Sandford police station, I saw four chavs with their trademark sweatshirts. I was the only one who burst out laughing.
There was one scene where a character flipped the bird (You know, the reverse victory sign) and I chuckled at that one. Some people looked at me like I was going mad!
Then, there were several hints of Shaun of the dead in the script. Nobody caught them.
And it was good to see Timothy Dalton back in a movie again. He was brilliant as the evil grocery manager. (Now, I wonder if the local Tesco has anyone like him?:lmao: )
My one question: where did they get the movie's title? What is "fuzz" referring to?

I've not seen the film but "the fuzz" is one of many nicknames for the police. I don't know if there's any other meaning that I've missed.

Fuzz is one of many nicknames for our boys in blue. Its origin isn't clear.

I haven't seen it yet but will do. Someone on the production team must know a bit about Police Training as 'Sanford' was the fictional town used in the training courses by Centrex up until about a year ago!!

Looks like the term 'Fuzz' acrually originated in the US - Fuzz.
