Some Qs about US Airways, check in and luggage!

Hey

We're booked on US Airways from Gatwick to Tampa via Charlotte in November As this is the first time flying with them I have a few questions!

- What is the luggage allowance per passenger? I read somewhere on their website that you have to pay per bag - is that also true for international flights?

- Can we do online check in to pick seats like we've done with British Airways? Our flights were booked through Netflights so not sure how that works.

- Do they have a free drinks trolley and wine with the in flight meal or do we have to pay? Its v important I get my vodka and coke after take off

Any other info greatly appreciated

Hi - we've flown with US Air a few times and found them to be really good.

The charges for luggage is only for internal US Flights and does not apply to flights originating from the UK.

We're going again in December and our baggage allowance is 23kg I think this is standard but maybe worth checking your confirmation.

I had to ask my husband about the drinks (can't remember as I tend not to drink during flights - makes my leg swell up!!) but he says there were definately complimentary drinks with dinner and a couple of trolley runs.

Edited to add - last year we were able to pick our seats by logging on via the manage my booking option on their website even though we had booked through netflights, this year our seats are pre-allocated and as we are quite happy with the allocation have decided not to change them.

p.s we booked direct with US Air this year and saved around £150 from the netflights price -something to bear in mind if you book again.

We are flying US Airways Manchester-Philly-Orlando in December and I agree with you Doverfox we definitely are allowed 2 x 23kg each.

That's great! I just checked our confirmation and we get 2 bags each!!! Although not sure if that's a good idea, DH put his back out last year lifting my suitcase!

You're allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item. Personal items include a purse, briefcase or laptop bag. Size requirements
Up to 45 in/115 cm (14 x 9 x 22 in or 36 x 23 x 56 cm)
Up to 40 lbs/18 kg luggage

Very generous allowance, but I don't have enough hands!!! (we fly with them tom)

Good to hear about the luggage allowance - probably only take one each on the way out but of course might have a lot more coming back once I've been to the outlets

Thanks for the tip about booking directly - we were delighted to save a bit compared to direct with BA through Netflights but every penny helps.
