Here are some pictures that I got from a friend of mine, she went about 2 weeks ago and checked on our house for us. Should have more pics next week, after Dh goes back. All pictures are taken in the 6900 block of Bellaire Dr.

Side of the house from the back (there was at least 4 to 5 feet of space between the two houses and the house that is into ours - the wooden one -- sat on lower ground with a concrete wall separateing the yards).

I am so sorry. :guilty: :grouphug:

DH just returned from a month in New Orleans with National Guards. He took nearly 1000 pictures. I am still just amazed at how much damage there is.

Unbelievable. :grouphug:

Is your area in any of the album titles he has? Sorry I'm not very familiar with the area. http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/AlbumList?u=4335196

I am so sorry! I know those of us not directly affected can't even imagine what it must be like to go through something like this, I hope all family made it out and are well? Were you able to salvage anything from upstairs, or did the water get up there as well?

Sending pixie dust and prayers for you and your family! :wizard:

I think I saw your house when we drove down Bellaire last weekend. The devastation in that area is overwhelming. I am so sorry for your loss.

:grouphug: I am so sorry. I just don't know what else to say. :(

I am so sorry. I just cannot imagine what all of you have actually had to endure with all these storms.........my heart goes out to you. :grouphug: It says you are near the mouse....was this from Hurricane Wilma??

Do a map search for 6900 belaire in New Orleans & you will see the OP lived just blocks from Lake Pontchartrain when the hurricane came thre in August-that area has massive destruction

WOW!!! I am sorry you suffered so much damage. I am glad you are safe though.

My heart goes out to you. Driving through city park the other day and Harrison ave. I had to pull over I was crying so much. It is going to be a long recovery for us isnt it. But we will!!!! My prayers to you.

I am originally from New Orleans, too! My family still lives there and my best friend's mom lived in the 6600 block of Bellaire!!! I also saw pictures of her house and the destruction is unbelievable.

I almost dread ever going back, and yet we hear that there will be mardi Gras parades in the spring?

It makes me so sad to think about my city like this. I always dreamed of moving back one day. But, now I feel I really can't go home again.

There are said to be areas that suffered little damage. I wish that we could get a true overall appraisal of the damage in the city. I think that news outlets play it up while government officials try to play it down.

Some pockets of the city didn't have damage, and my parents were very lucky as their house in Metairie didn't have any damage. But it is hard to live around the ruins. Things are still a mess - still just like you see in the pictures from the OP. Stores still aren't all back, restaurants aren't operating with regular hours. My uncle, in his late 70's, lived in Slidell and his house blew away - he has nothing left except for the suitcase, box of stuff he left with, truck and dog - he is now staying with my parents. My best friend lives in Mandeville and her house escaped with minor damage. But her entire family (mom, sisters, brother, grown nieces and nephews) lost each of their own homes. Their homes were in Lakeview, Chalmette, and St. Bernard, and all them were totally flooded up to the roof tops. My friend worked downtown and her company transferred her to Denver, my brother's job transferred him to Baton Rouge and his girlfriend was transferred to Houston.

Wow! Those pictures really put everything into perspective for me! Continued prayers and pixie dust are on their way! :)
