or maybe she doesn't want to discuss them. After I was diagnosed with a medical thing, every freaking conversation with family and friends turned into that. I hated it!
So I would divert the attention, they would still turn it back to me and my sorry state
Finally I had to put my foot down, but I still tried to do it in a humorus way, and I can see me doing just what your friend is doing.
Please don't judge others so harshly, you don't know what they are up against in life as well.

I figure, either her nails and sleep are all that are going on in her life, and she wanted to contribute to the conversation, or she was trying to lighten it up, OR she's got heavy things going on with her too, didn't want to share them, and this was her version of "what's that personal question you asked?
