We just back from a wonderful time at WDW. One day while in the lobby of the GF, I saw two little girls ages around 4 and 6 sitting in a chair. They wanted to see my pins, but said they couldn't trade until their father got there. Where's your father? He's still in the room. Foolishly I assumed there mother was in one of the stores. We went and sat down to enjoy the beautiful tree. A few minutes later the girls came over hesitantly. I thought they wanted to look at my pins again. They said they were lonely and a little scared and could they sit with us. Well, of course. The little one said that their mother and THROWN them out of their room and told them to wait in the lobby! Only thing is they weren't sure WHICH lobby she meant. The lobby in their GF building or the main one with the tree. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. We asked their room number but they didn't know it. So DH went to a CM to explain the situation after getting the girls last name. The CM was very kind and quickly said he would take care of everything. Just at that moment mommy dearest showed up and said the girls just got away from her. I wanted to smack her. Disney is probably one of the safest places for children, but tell them to wait in the lobby of a strange hotel?? What does this woman have for brains? I wanted so badly to tell her off, but I didn't want to scare the girls any more than they already were. I assume that since she had two younger girls that she just wanted some peace to get everyone out the door, but there could have been another solution than to throw the girls out the door!

OK, done venting.

Unbelievable. I would have been extremely upset too. I probably would have opened my big mouth and said to her that she was lucky I wasn't a kidnapper. You showed great restraint. :)

I'm sure the CMs see this kind of stuff all the time... So sad.

How in the world could they allow young children to leave the room and wait in the lobby like that?

Some people really are just breeders!!

Those girls wouldn't MOVE out of the chair, because their mother told them not to. If I was a kidnapper I would have had to drag them out. So at least that was a comfort to me.

But you are right, it is a sad commentary on parenting.

Sounds like those poor girls have idiots for parents.

The same thing happened to us last January while at the
GF. We were eating at the character breakfast and we noticed 2 small boys, approx. 4 to 6 years old and they didn't have an adult with them but they had plates and they were eating. When the waitress would bring a family to the table, the boys would move to another table, finally one of the waitpersons asked the boys where their parents were, well the parents were still in their room too. We thought the same thing "where are the parents, why would you leave 2 small boys alone?" Unbelievable.

I just don't understand this. Do these people ever look at the news? Don't they ever think what might happen to children left alone? This is just plain scary.

  Oh my! That is sooo dangerous, even at WDW! What was that mother thinking? AND the father for that matter!

Just one statement,

People like that should never have children. Parents are so unbeleivably careless when it comes to little angels.

Always sad to hear/read stories like this regarding children. Thanks, Angelrose, for doing something about the situation at the time. Good for you.

:(

Can you imagine if those children had wandered onto the monorail? They could have ended up anywhere!!!!

Since they didn't know their room #, you can bet they probably didn't know the name of their hotel either. :(

Some poeple!

You know it is possible that the kids did just take off. Sometimes kids do things like that. I know because it happened to me. I let my boys go to a fenced, gated pool at the timeshare we were staying at, my older son was to keep an eye on my younger one (he is very responsible). I was finishing getting my youngest ready, said I'd be there in about 10 minutes. Well not 5 minutes passed when there was a knock at the door. I opened it to find my son (almost 4 at the time) standing there by himself. He told me how he "escaped". Within 3 minutes his frantic brother was banging on the door, he had been looking for him. So you see, kids do things like that, even to the most careful of us.

It is so very sad to hear of stories like this :( I am glad that you did help out the way you did Angelrose.

Wow, that is so sad. Yes, something really awful could have happened, but something not so nice already had. Can you imagine being that little and having to wait in a lobby full of strangers. That's awful! I wouldn't even do that to a 16 year old, let alone a 6 year old.

How disturbing, I do think that some parents in this day and age should get help with their parenting skills. This is a family vacation and so you are going to have your family wanting something pretty much all the time.
