In this day and age, I don't understand online payment sites that won't credit your payment immediately.
Just went to pay my son's student loan, due tomorrow. It won't let me pay it before Monday. I know, at least with this site, I could have scheduled the payment in advance for tomorrow, but if the computer is up and running, credit it now.
My water district is worse. They just went with an outside online payment service......it takes 7 days to credit your payment. So you could pay your bill 6 days before the due date, but it would be a day late.

Our electric bill can't be paid online unless you pay a $3.75 'convenience fee'. Convenient that they can charge for something that probably costs less than for someone to process a check. I could set up on auto pay but don't really like everyone dipping into my checking account. The mortgage and insurance companies are enough, thank you very much!
