We have a trip coming up in November with 3 separate families. Our family is on the dining plan, and the others are not (they are using the room-only discount and are on a separate reservation). All together, there will be 9 of us. We have one sit down meal at Mickey's Backyard BBQ together that my wife and I offered to treat everyone to. My question is how will this work?

Is it possible to have 3 people on the dining plan and have 6 not on the dining plan? Will this be difficult to explain and pay for, or will it not be an issue at all. I'm hoping it won't be too difficult, but I may end up calling Disney this week to get the (hopefully) straight answer.

Not difficult at all. Let the server know who is using the plan and who is not. The bill will be split accordingly

Did it for 8 TS meals last month, including 2 dinner shows and had no issues.
should be no problem-just tell host/hostess and server.
