Hey folks!

Just got back last night from my trip to the World and had a blast! Checked in to Pop Century on Sunday morning and practically had the place to myself...they limited the number of rooms being checked in to only a few hundred per day until the weekend. The resort itself is awesome and they layout is great! No one building is too far from anything. I stayed in the 60's building and had a view of Hourglass lake. Quite nice. The only down side to having the lake view is having to look at the unsightly unfinished Legendary Years part of the resort. As one bus drive said, they look like army barracks.

I received a letter when I checked in saying that they were going to be testing new fireworks on 12/15 at Epcot and to not be alarmed if I saw some "unexpected lights in the sky". Little did I know that I was going to get my own private viewing of the Epcot New Year's Eve fireworks! I could hear the music and everything! It was, in a word, breathtaking! So, for anyone staying at Pop Century on New Year's Eve, instead of jamming in the park, take a walk down "Memory Lane" to where the bowling pins and yo-yo's meet. Look straight across the lake and enjoy the show!

I also ended up doing MVMCP twice during my stay. The first night wasn't the best, it rained on and off all night. They managed to get in wishes and managed to put on the Christmas parade...albeit a delayed parade. They also had to cancel the 9pm "Celebrate the Season" show and delayed the 12am show. The second night was much better, but more crowded. I did notice some disturbing things with regards to the Disney characters. Somehow, someway, Disney overlooked the fact that both Mickey and Minnie were performing on stage in Tomorrowland and at the Castle Forecourt Stage at the SAME exact time! The two stages are no more than a 2 minute walk away from each other! I feel bad for any parents walking through Tomorrowland and to the hub that had to try and explain that one! Also, Chip and Dale and Pluto were at the Judges tent in Toontown and on my way to Fantasyland, I passed by the lagoon and lo and behold, there they were again at the 20k lagoon. Literally less than a five minute walk. You would think with it's plethora of characters, Disney would diversify. But I guess that's what Disney Magic is....being able to be in two different places at once. :teeth:

So, anywho, it was a great trip and I'm already looking forward to the next one in 2004!

Sounds like you had a great trip

We are staying at the Pop Century the end of January. It will be our first time onsite.

We are looking forward to it, it should be great.

Magic indeed, Kevin. Thaks for the review, it is beautiful at this time of the year. Glad you saw so much and your stay at Pop was so good. Nice to have you back. :wave2:

How exciting to be one of the first guests at a new resort. I want to see pictures!

Glad to be back, Dan...I missed the boards while I was away!

Jen, I'll post some pics just as soon as I get them developed. I took more video than anything, but whatever pics I get back, I'll post. ::yes::

for the review and tip!;) I will be there the end of Jan. also in 40 days!:bounce:

Sounds great. I am hoping to check out the Pop Century resort the next time I'm there. It sounds like a cool place to stay. Glad you had such a wonderful time!

looking for lots of pivs at PopCentury! We will be there at the beginning of February

I fully agree about the characters!! Disney used to have a rule about characters appearing in only one spot at a time, with the exception being characters in a restaurant (so it was OK to see Pooh at Crystal Palace and also Toontown Country Fair). Disney has clearly abandoned this rule, and I've also seen many examples. One time I saw Tweedle Dee and Dum by the Tea Cups, then I walked to the castle and there they were again. At MNNSHP, I saw Radcliffe by City Hall, and then again a couple of minutes later by the castle. I could go on and on ....

Not sure why Disney does not coordinate the character meetings better!
