Lisa and I have been together for 5 wonderful years. We have talked about having a committment ceremony, but haven't done anything more than talk. Last night we were at a party with about 30 or so of our nearest and dearest friends. Apparently Lisa has been planning this for some time, so all of our friends were there. In the middle of several toasts celebrating our friendship with all of these women, Lisa gets up to speak.....next thing I know she is down on one knee with the most beautiful 3 diamond ring I have ever seen. It belonged to her grandmother and I have seen her wear it many times, but last night it looked totally different. Now that it is on my finger....and it fit PERFECTLY....it looks even more different and beautiful in a new and special way. She caught me totally off guard and I was so surprised i was speechless....and for me, that is tough to do.
Although the ceremony that we will be planning cannot be a legal one, it will not take away from the significance of it in our hearts. I can't wait to start planning!!!!
