ESPN to Celebrate Anniversary At Disney-MGM Studios

ESPN and Walt Disney World Resort will offer fans the opportunity to see and hear ESPN personalities and the greatest athletes of the past 25 years through "ESPN The Weekend," a special celebration at the Disney-MGM Studios, July 31 and Aug. 1, 2004.

"ESPN The Weekend" will include on-site ESPN telecasts including SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight, College GameDay and ESPNEWS; star motorcades and conversations with network personalities and athletes; sports shows in the ESPN Theater featuring ESPN commentators and athletes; a visit from ESPN The Truck; a special sports edition of the game show attraction "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire-Play It!"; an interactive sports area allowing guests to relive the past 25 years of sports; a SportsCenter and play-by-play "role play" area; and an exclusive video of blunders and thrills.

The event will culminate with a final tribute to the past 25 years orchestrated to a Disney pyrotechnics show exploding over the park's 12-story Mickey's Sorcerer's Hat icon. more information

New Princess Tea Party Brewing At Disney's Grand Floridian

It's a tea party fit for a princess at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Youngsters can don their favorite dress-up costumes and enjoy tea filled with fantasy and delight at the new My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea Party offered in the Garden View Lounge beginning June 10.

Every Thursday through Monday from 10:30 a.m.-noon, little princesses will get the royal treatment with tea for two, deliciously decorative princess cakes, plus a personal meet-and-greet with Princess Aurora from the classic Disney animated film "Sleeping Beauty." The enchanting tea party is hosted by "Rose Petal," a magical rose from Aurora's garden that has come to life to lead storytelling, sing-alongs and a princess parade. more information

Walt Disney World Resort Receives Seven AAA Four-Diamond Awards

Six Walt Disney World hotel properties and one restaurant have won the AAA Four-Diamond Award for 2004.

Three Walt Disney World resorts earned the honor for the first time in 2004 -- Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Beach Club Villas and Disney's BoardWalk Villas. Four-Diamond Award repeaters included Disney's BoardWalk (7th award), Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (15th award) and Disney's Yacht Club Resort (13th award).

Jiko-The Cooking Place, a South African-themed restaurant located at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, was honored in the dining category. It was Jiko's second AAA Four Diamond Award. Meanwhile, Victoria & Albert's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa continues its rein as Central Florida's only AAA Five-Diamond restaurant. more information on resort hotels
