Some mixed reviews and pics from our november trip NEW-09/05

Thank you for all the sweet comments, I'll respond to them tnigt, but first, I wanted to post a mixology review.

We did a mixology seminar while we there. We booked the same day, so it was a nice surprise that there was availability.

You arrive at your seat and the presenter presents three fruity cocktails to you. After each presentation, servers pass mini cocktails around.

Here are the note sheets and the recipes.

The raspberry whiskey sour
IMG_0897_zps172b0431.jpg

These were all pretty good and refreshing. My mom is not into fruity cocktails, so I got double portions! Yay! My favourite is the raspberry whisky sour. Nice experience, I would do it again!

I love fruity cocktails. I hope they have something like this again this fall.

thanks for sharing..

You're welcome! It a good way to cure Disney blues! :thumbsup2

Joining in!

Your Sanna meal looks delicious!

Yes it was, I'll have another review up soon, since we went twice.

Good start. Some of the options at Sanaa look really great :thumbsup2

A trip to Disney definetely warrants a meal at Sanaa. :)

Glad to hear you liked Sanaa I loved it when we went last year. Great atmosphere and a nice change if pace food wise.

Yep, love the decor and always had really good service.

Signing up!! And bonjour from the other side of the Quebec border!:)

Bonjour! Thanks for reading

Another Quebequoise signing in !

Welcome!

I saw your last review with your DH. Looking forward to this one.

Thank you for following! :wave2:

Hi Stephanie! :wave2:

Great start with your reviews! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to read more.

Hi! Thank you for following

Great start..... :goodvibes You've included a couple of my favorites!

Happpy that you enjoy!

Thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

You're welcome

Looks good... I love the griddled cheese at the Greece booth

Yep, it's pretty awesome when it comes right off the grill!

Thanks for sharing. I love reviews that include some yummy drinks. :goodvibes

I had my share of fruity drinks during the trip, believe me. :lmao:

Thanks, that is good to know! :thumbsup2

If we had ordered the app, I'm sure it would have been too much.

I'v never seen the cherry sundae before on these boards! Thanks for posting this and thanks for your reviews!

I think it was quite new. It was delicious, gotta love cherry ice cream!

How did I miss that orange dole whip - looks fabulous :thumbsup2

It was at the refreshment port. Loved the combo of orange and creme de cacao.

I love fruity cocktails. I hope they have something like this again this fall.

They should, and we were lucky to get seats the same day. It's 15 dollars per person and totally worth it!

Your photos and comments about Sanaa might have just convinced me to try it!!!

Go try it! It's the best! :thumbsup2

Of course while we were at Disney, we had to indulge in some sweets... :thumbsup2

First up, here is a giant brownie with peanut butter icing, from the Mara, the AKL counter service. So good, so sweet, the icing was a little heavier but no sickely sweet. Great bed-time snack. :rotfl2:
IMG_0889_zps268d3fd6.jpg

Then we also stopped at Karamel Kuche during this trip. Three favourites right here - caramel covered in salted black chocolate (good to eat some little pieces so it it lasts longer), a regular soft caramel square (rich but so god, wish it was salted too) and a caramel and marshmallow swirl that makes me dream of this of this place. So good.

One of the only 'beers' I drink is the Schöfferhofer Grapefruit, so I went full size for this one. It's a beginner's beer, as you taste much more the citrus than the beer.
IMG_0878_zps8627fd4b.jpg

We stopped at the Africa booth and picked up the Berbere Style Beef with Onions, Jalapeños, Tomato, Okra and Pap. This was good. I love the pap, it tempers the dish since it was a little on the spicy side. The white wine was my mother's pick, pretty sure it was the Chenin Blanc. She drank it so I'm thinking she liked it. :confused3
IMG_0876_zps06b940eb.jpg

We love our cheese so we got both items at the cheese booth.
First is the Almond Crusted Blue Cheese Soufflé with Fig Jam. This was good, the jam gave it a wonderful boost.
IMG_0873_zpsf309720f.jpg

The second choice was Artisan Cheese Selection: Flagship Reserve Cheddar, La Bonne Vie Triple Crème Brie, Wijngaard Goats Gouda. These were good, but all on the mild side and lacked a little caracter. We love our cheeses pungent, must be our French side. ;)
IMG_0872_zpsd9f46922.jpg

At the Germany booth, we went with Roast Bratwurst in a Pretzel Roll. It was good but my mother joked that she was selk-conscious about it in front of everybody... :rotfl2:
The wine was the Selbach-Oster Mosel Riesling Spätlese. I think my mother never met a riesling she didn't like, so she was happy.

Your Y&Y meal looks great - I love sharing apps for a meal!

The griddled Greek cheese looks/sounds wonderful!

The mixology class sounds like a blast!

Mmmm - the sweet treats look so yummy too!

I love hearing about all the F&W booths. We used to be able to go at that time of year - I miss it!

I don't like beer at all but I can drink that grapefruit beer ;)
I also really enjoy the sausage pretzel thing in Germany

Since I am in serious Disney withdrawal - we are not going this year :scared: I was browsing through my pics and forgot that this thread was not complete, so let's get the whip cracking! :)

Some more Food and Wine offerings.

We stopped at the Poland booth.
Frozen Szarlotka (Apple Pie) featuring Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka – $8.25 - I don't remember this so it must have been just ok.
IMG_0862_zps3e4019d7.jpg

Temptation Zinfandel – $2.50 - yep, two glasses. :rotfl: My mother was thinking that this was white wine but drank both red sampling anyway.
IMG_0865_zpsa9aef783.jpg

Zapiekanki (Toasted Mushroom, Caramelized Onion and Cheese Bread with House-made Ketchup) - $3.00 - this tastes like pizza bread to me, love the mushrooms in this and the bread is fluffy. Very good but somewhat filling.
IMG_0864_zps4b17f2d9.jpg

Then, we visited Hops and Barley where my mom opted for the
Griddled Lobster Tail with Garlic Herb Butter - $7.50 and i got the
Craisin® Bread Pudding with Grand Marnier Anglaise - $3.25
IMG_0858_zps4654cb1e.jpg

I'm pretty sure the wine was the Pinot Grigio from Italy. The lobster tail was nice, pretty well cooked, but tiny. My mom enjoyed it. The bread pudding was really good and moist, I love craisins so it was an easy choice. The portion was quite big.

Next up, Florida.
Florida Shrimp Ceviche with Fire Roasted Vegetables and Micro Cilantro - $4.25 and
Florida Orange Groves, Key Limen-Key Lime Wine - $2.75
IMG_0856_zps0a53a37b.jpg.html

The ceviche was fresh and cold, but tiny. The cilantro added a nice kick. The Key lime wine is interesting. It's refreshing. I would get some if it was available around here in the summer.

We stopped by the outside sake bar in the Japan pavilion. This is Hana Awaka, a sweet and sparkling sake, which again was refreshing and a great way to try out a "softer" sake.
IMG_0851_zps82986cf4.jpg

IMG_0852_zps901435bd.jpg

and we also got a sake cocktail, the green tea colada one. It didn't taste like alcohol but had a great tang from the green tea and was not overly sweet. This is also available at the F&W Japan booth but the portion is smaller.
IMG_0850_zpsb5956815.jpg

In Morrocco, we stopped by Tangierine Cafe for a side of olive salad. Salty and briny, this hit the spot. This is a must if you like olives.
IMG_0842_zpsdd0b7894.jpg

We then hit the New Zeland booth. We got some white wine for my mom - don't remember which kind, and
Gratinated Green Lip Mussels with Garlic and Herbs - $3.50
IMG_0841_zpsaad274cb.jpg

These were really good! Nice and meaty, no grit and good garlic flavor with a slight crunch from the topping.

At Desert and Champagne, we got the desert trio and the Impérial champagne.
IMG_0840_zps3f02370b.jpg

IMG_0839_zps6ff48e92.jpg

The bubbly was great and cold, the three deserts were the chocolate and orange cupcake, the chocolate and hazelnut cheesecake and the morello cherry and pistachio mousse. My favorite was the mousse, then the cupcake and last the cheesecake but honestly, these desert were not all that memorable.

At the Scotland booth, we got
Loch Lomond featuring Glenfiddich® 12 year – $10.50
IMG_0835_zps3d18f467.jpg

This was really potent! Not sure I was walking straight after this one, lol.
We also got
Vegetarian Haggis with Neeps and Tatties-Griddled Vegetable Cake with Rutabaga and Mashed Potatoes - $3.25
IMG_0834_zps5d2a9c2d.jpg

The haggis reminded me of a vegetable burger patty but it was still moist and had a nice flavor. I make mashed rutabaga at home and this version was ok as were the potatoes.

At the Hawaii booth, we got the
Kālua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour Dole® Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise - $3.50
IMG_0837_zpsce4bfe45.jpg

This was good, but we ditched the bread that was kind of dry and ate the pork with a fork.

And a bonus pic - the pumpkin cheesecake from the Mara. This was a nice treat, especially if you like autumn spices.
