In November, I had my first stay as DVC member and since DH couldn't take off from work, I went with my mother.

I have to apologize, since uually, I use a DSLR, but because of health reasons, I just only brought my cheap point and shoot for this trip.

Other details: we were staying at AKL, deluxe studio, November 1 to 15.

Here we are. I'm a 32 year old mom to 3 little boys and my mom, nearing 60 years old. Both of us are adventurous, my mom a little less. She loves wine and indulged in some. Wow, all those African wines were a pleasure to discover. I can't eat a lot at a time, since I've had weigh-loss surgery, but I like my drinks. So you'll see alot of sharing. We were all paying OOP. Also, we are French-speaking Canadians (bilingual) and we live at the Ontario border, on the Quebec side.

Let's get this starting.:cool1:

Like I said, these reviews will be all mixed up since I can't find my trip notes. There will be also plenty of Food and Wine pics.

We'll start with a Sanaa dinner.

I love this place and I need to go at least once a trip. This time we went twice. Service was awesome both times.

I started with a mojito. Very good and refreshing.

We also ordered a bottle of Riesling - a little sweet but very light and drinkable.

We started with the bread service, requesting all 9 sauces. Our breads: naan, garlic naan and pappadum.

The sauces

They were all very good, from very mild to very spicy. I loved the coriander one, the pickle garlic and the coconut chutney. Such a nice appetizer and it doesn't cost too much.

For my main, I had a kind of shrimp cocktail with apple balls, tomato chutney and herbs. It had at least 5 big shrimp in there. I was stuffed, but it was delicious!

My mother had the lamb shank, and found it wonderful, almost as good as the we had at jiko - that review coming soon.

This is a little gem of a restaurant.

Good start. Some of the options at Sanaa look really great :thumbsup2

On this day, we visited AK. I love this park - the detail are awesome.

Before getting to Yak and Yeti, we had some beverages from a beer cart nearby.
Mom got a bud light. As a sidenote, I don't really do beer. I had some kind of fruity cocktail that comes directly from a premixed bottle. It was fine and refreshing, but taste more of juice than booze.

Let's go to Yak and Yeti, one of my go-to restaurants. It was y 3rd time visiting in 3 trips. I love the decor, service was good, and food, delish. The only thing is that it is a little chilly, so bring an extra layer.

Mom had a glass of rosé that she likes. I forgot to mention that she stays away from red because they trigger some massive miraines.

I had my first pina colada on Disney property. How can you go wrong? It was so good, but of course it filled me up a bit.

As opposed to getting some mains, we split some apps and sides.

First, the Seared Ahi Tuna - chilled, sesame-encrusted ahi tuna, wasabi aioli, and sweet chili slaw $11.99. This was not the first time I've had it. Every components of the dish go perfectly together.

Next, a side of eggrolls - the app comes with 3 eggrolls, but the side has two, perfect for sharing. Very good, piping hot and not greasy at all.

And finally, the wok-fried green beans. They were worth the hype. The serving is absolutely huge, prepare to share!

After all that food, there was no way dessert would be happening, which is sad because the fried won-tons here are one of my favourite dessert in WDW. Oh well, there is always next time!

Glad to hear you liked Sanaa I loved it when we went last year. Great atmosphere and a nice change if pace food wise.

Hello everybody, welcome and thanks for reading.

Here's a quikie.
Muir wood Sundae - Ghirardelli soda fountain.
Black cherry vanilla ice cream smothered
with our freshly homemade hot fudge
and topped with whipped cream, semi-sweet
chocolate chips and a cherry

I love cherries so this hit the spot. I can't eat much dairy/ice cream as I get upset tummy, but couldn't resist this one. It's a new one and already a favorite, even though I would prefer if they offered half portion. It is a little pricey, around 10 $, but it's worth it especially for sharing.

Some little food and wine. We hit all the booths while doing our World Showcase walks. It took a couple of times to achieve this and I'm thinking it was busier in 2013 than in 2012.

GREECE
Griddled Greek Cheese with Pistachios and Honey - $3.50
Domaine Skouras Moscofilero – $3.50 OR Domaine Siglas Assyrtiko/Athiri
IMG_0908_zps62ef4463.jpg

Not sure which wine my mom ordered, so I'm listing the two. She like it, no complaints there and it cut through the richness of the cheese. You need to get the cheese as fresh as possible after it goes on the cooking top or else it seems to congeal and get hard. Our serving was perfect and so delicious. Personnaly, I love cheese with honey and the pistachio adds to the texture. The portion was really big.

REFRESHMENT PORT
Orange Dole® Whip with Crème de Cacao White – $5.79
IMG_0907_zpsa98398b3.jpg

Oh so good... Creamsicle-like, I would get this over and over.

TERRA
Fresh Watermelon Juice – $2.50
IMG_0903_zps0a126ee7.jpg

Very refreshing. I made some when watermelon was in season at home. Just throw some watermelon in the blender and you're set. I even made some smothies, using frozen watermelon.

Next... cocktail seminar. ;)
