Hi
We didn't go to Disney last year and am a bit out of the loop. Our eldest son has Downs and we usually get a red card that allows us to join the fast pass queue.
Has this been stopped?
Usually we just turn up and make our way around the park.
Do we now have to prebook all the rides?
Have looked at a few posts and am a bit confused!
Thanks
( right need to start signing up for the outlets and the food places)
I get it that you used to have GAC (guest assistance card, the one with the stamps on it) If you already had
DAS (from october 2013 on) then you're in known territory
now it is DAS.
you need to go to a park's guest relations with your son and explain the situation (just like you used to do)
the CM will take a picture of your son with an ipad and issue a DAS card with your son's picture on it.
It will say how long it's valid for, and how many guests are allowed to ride with him
to use it, go to the ride you want to do. And ask the greeter (CM) for a return time
the CM will write down a return time equal to the standby wait time minus 10 minutes.
So if the standby is 60 minutes, they will write down a time 50 minutes away
once that time has come you can come back to the ride at the FP+ queue, show your son's card (he needs to be there) and you will enter the FP+ line
you'll show the card again at the point where the FP line joins the SB line (where they used to collect paper fastpasses)
basically it works like good old fashioned Fastpass, except that you can have one anytime, even when they have run out
and you can come back to the ride whenever you want on that day (couple of hours)
you can only have 1 return ride at a time, which means you can't go to another ride until you are done with the current ride on your card
if you wish to change rides, you need to go the that next ride and they will void your current ride return time, and you will have a new return time based on that ride's wait time minus 10 minutes. If you have already waited for the other ride, it doesn't matter, the clock resets based on the new rides wait time.
you can use that card in combination with FP+.
I have DAS, so let me give you an example
I have a FP+ for soarin' and my DAS.
my FP+ for soarin' is at 10-11am and the standby line is 60 minutes.
I go to the FP+ entrance with my DAS card at 10am and request a return time for soarin', I get 10:50am as a return time.
I enter the FP+ line immediatly as I have FP+. By the time I exit the ride, it's almost time for my DAS return time, so I don't have much of a wait to ride again.
So definitely book your FP+ that's 3 more rides guaranteed on top of the disability card
