Some Dining Plan questions

We're thinking of upgrading our QS plan to the regular plan for our December trip. I have a few random questions.
Is there a price limit on the adult beverage you can order? Most of the drinks I like are around the $13 to $14 area. Can I order a soda as well and pay oop for the soda?
There will be 4 of us and our youngest is 12. If he wants something relatively inexpensive can we pay oop for his meal instead of using a credit?
Can you order an app for 2 as your entree? For example, at Yak and Yeti can you order the dim sum basket for your entree?

Thank you for your help guys! ☺

There is a price limit on some drinks, but I think they are more for the really expensive wine. I regularly order fun cocktails at the restaurants and they have always been around that price and included. If you are eating at a buffet you can get a mixed drink as well as a pop as part of the plan. The app thing i think is a no go. I've never heard of it being allowed, but there is no harm in asking.

1. Each restaurant can decide which adult beverages are included, but it seems like many places set a maximum price point of around $16.
2. At buffets and all you care to eat family style restaurants most have reported that they were able to order an alcoholic beverage and a non-alcoholic drink as well without being charged. At TS restaurants it seems to be more variable so you will have to ask if a second beverage is free or if you'll have to pay OOP.
3. Yes, you can pay for his meal OOP and save his credit for another meal.
4. Not at the third party restaurants (e.g. Yak and Yeti) because they are reimbursed by Disney according to the rules of the dining plan which requires that entrees be ordered from the entree section of the menu. Even at the Disney owned restaurants it is rare for apps to be allowed as an entree, but you can ask.

You cannot even order an app for one as your entree. The dining plan simply does not allow for it. A crazy restriction that would benefit the restaurant financially, but still not allowed.

Has something to do with how they are reimbursed by Disney.

Thanks guys. It's good news about the alcoholic beverages, not so great about the apps. I had it in my head that the price had to be under $10 for the drinks. I probably made that up myself.
I think we'll probably upgrade. We tended to eat one TS and one CS last time we were there so having the 2 CS a day isn't really going to work. We have must do places like, Yak and Yeti, Sci-fi and Raglan Road. My husband and the 17 yr old eat a lot so it just makes more sense.

We were just at Disney last month and had the disney dining plan. Each restaurant was happy to explain what was/was not included so there was no misunderstanding. They realize that some may be doing a dining plan for the first time and each restaurant may have various policies regarding menu items (i.e. what drinks or menu items are included vs. not).
