Looking for a little help if possible. There are some things the kids want that I need some input on.

1)Line Chasers-This is one of those "as seen on tv, not available in stores" things. DS keeps seeing the commercial but I keep missing it and I'd really like to check them out on a website, not just order thru the 800 number. It's some kind of car that follows a magic marker track that you draw. I've searched online but can't find a website with these.Found these with the spelling line chaserz. Now I need some feedback. Do they actually work?In case anybody else is interested, the best price appears to be a tie between KBtoys and Etoys both of whom have them for $14.99

2)Cordless Optical Mouse- I'm going to buy 3 of these this Christmas and I've looked at reviews and shopped online and there are just soo, soo many choices I don't know which one to get. I want a cordless optical mouse with a scroll wheel. Hopefully under $20 each. Any recomendations?Still looking for some input

3)Digital Camera for a teen- looking for a cheap digital camera but not a piece of junk digital either. Hoping to spend under $100 for a decent digital camera for DD12. I don't really want one of those "kids" digitals, but rather an inexpensive regular digital.Still looking for some input

4)Magnetix-I know what they are and where to find them but I wondered if anybody has seen any great deals on these. DS is particularly interested in the "Magnamen" sets and I should have bought the 4 pack of magnamen that Target had for $20 when I saw it because now I can only find individual magnaman guys for $10 each.Toys R Us has a good deal on these right now so I'm headed there this week

5)Ipod Nano- This is a definite for DD but there don't seem to be deals or sales on these that I can find. Any advice?looks like we're going to buy straight from apple for free engraving and shipping.

So, I know it's asking a lot but if anybody has any info or advice on any of these items I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!

line chasers - try chaserz (yes with a Z that's not a typo lol) in google and you will find some sites that are selling them. :flower:

Myst

DS told me it was with a "Z" but I thought he meant chaZers.

Thanks so much! Found 'em! Does anybody own these or know anything about them? I hate for DS to be disappointed with another toy that doesn't do what the commercial says they will do.

It looks like IPOD nanos are going to be the hot gift this Christmas. You may be better off to bite the bullet and pay full price -- order early and make sure you have one instead of playing a waiting game. If price is a concern, you may want to go with the 2 GB version for $199 instead of the $249 for the 4 GB.

I think you're right! I've been thinking about doing just that so I don't get stuck without one in December. I dont' really think they go on sale, ever, anyway.

try macmall.com hubby just bought them there this week and it came with a free radio transmitter thing after rebate......

for those magnatix try Bj's wholesale, I think that the one near me had them in a 3 pack for 19.99

It is very rare to find an Ipod on sale. And they are the same price, everywhere.

I did see some at Aldi's a few weeks ago but I don't think it was any cheaper than say, Best Buy.

Yup, I figured I would buy one for DH direct from http://www.apple.com/ipodstore, going straight to the source, as it were. Also, you can get prepaid cards for the Itunes website, which might be a good idea for the stocking. Itunes charges $0.99 per song, so for $20, your child could get 20 songs.

Edited to add: The Apple Ipod store is currently offering Free Shipping and Free Engraving with shipping in 1-2 weeks -- beats going to 3 or 4 stores trying to save $10.

Also, if you're considering the IPOD nano for a younger child (preteen), you may want to look at the IPOD Shuffle which holds fewer songs and is less expensive. For an older teen, the "cool" factor of owning the nano is probably worth the cost.

DS9(will be 10 by Christmas) wouldn't know what to do with such an item. It would be completely wasted on him and it's not something we'd consider right now.

DD12(will be 13 in 2 weeks) has never owned an MP3 player of any type and doesn't think it's a possibility that she might ever get one so she's not even asking although "music is her life"..she can't go 5 minutes without the radio on. She's going to go absolutely positively nuts! We were going to get her the mini in pink because she's going thru a pink phase right now but DH says that if she drops it, she'll have a $200 paperweight :teeth: He thinks the nano is a much better idea due to the type of hard drive in the nano. I'm sure the "cool factor" would have been just as high with a mini but she's getting the nano for practical reasons and it'll probably be seen as even cooler.

Thanks! I like logitech that's the brand we use now but ours aren't cordless. I don't think we need anything as fancy as that though. Just your basic optical mouse cordless with a scroll wheel. I was hoping to keep them to less than $20 a piece since I'm going to buy 3 of them(DH, DD, DS). I've also heard about ones that have a "docking station" kind of thing that recharges them. No idea what these cost or if they're even worth it.

Any more Mousy opinions? :p

The one in that link is 39.99 regular price, with a docking station. Logitech also has a cheaper one with a docking station, with just a regular scroll wheel. I think its 29.99

DH picked up a wireless mouse by Micro Innovations for less than $20 over a year ago at Walmart. It works great -- uses 2 AA batteries.

One of the reasons I'm looking at the nano is also because it's got the Flash memory (no moving parts to break). You may also want to look at the IRiver H10, which uses the same technology.

I was also going to say that they have the wireless mouse at Walmart. I had one and didn't like it, but that is where I got it. I also saw the Magnetix at Walmart. Ours is a SuperWalmart so I don't know if that makes a difference. They probably have both online as well.

Toys R Us has the Magnetix in their ad today. I think the offer was to get a free 35 piece set when you buy the $19.99 one. I'm pretty sure it is available on-line too. hope that helps!

That's a great deal! Thanks! It is available online but the shipping basically cancels out the savings. I'm going to try to run down there this week.

Does anybody have any opinions on a cheap digital camera? Still looking for ideas on that one!

I'm still looking for some ideas for a decent but not necessarily great digital camera for DD13 that can be picked up for $75 or less. Any ideas?

Look at the marts, they have them. They have some in packages near the display at Walmart. They have some for $40 and up or so there.
